Had such a great experience here! Alexis (or Alexa, Iβm sorry I forgot her name π£) was SO NICE! She answered all our questions very kindly and was patient with us. She even helped me choose which cameras were best suited for me and helped me out with filling up film and showed me apps to help me start out with film. Definitely going back here!
Fantastic store! I was verySurprised with how reasonable the prices were for some things at this location. Considering that paying high mark ups and dealing with scalpers during this pandemic has unfortunately become a sad normalcy, I do appreciate stores like this. Miguel was awesome! Very friendly and personable. He seemed to enjoy what he does and was very knowledgeable about anything I threw at him.
Wanted to purchase a $6500 camera today, to have it one day aired to me. But they βdonβt shipβ because the guy behind the counter said βif it gets lost it comes out of my paycheckβ. Iβm fairly sure that is a lie and this man is just lazy. Have people gone mad? What in the world is US customer service coming to?? A camera store selling professional gear β¦ that wonβt ship? Iβve seen and heard it all. Stay far away.
Appalling customer service! Sold me a defective lens for $1,100 filled with dust then told me it wont affect picture quality. Thats not the point I asked for simple customer service about this issue not for it to be deflected.Steve the manager/owner came out with an attitude deflecting again saying its Sigmas problem talk to them. I asked him to do the right thing and exchange the lens. He said he can not because its out of his hands. Yet he owns and manages the place. Ive spent well over $7k here the last 3 months, but will be going to B&H. I bought local to do the right thing and support local businesses, but this place doesnt deserve it. I guess some folks are too short minded to see its more than the products you are selling.Update: photo added.
Nice Orlando store if you need anything related with photography! Denver is always ready to help me and answer my questions!
I met Denver great salesmen he sold me a 1000.00 lens for a 2000.00 sony camera I probably do not need. But I had a great time talking with him.
If youre looking for a modeling shop, this is one youll have to visit. Half the store has everything from small trees to tools for modeling. The other half of the store is mostly items for photography. This is a neat place to browse if you are looking for used cameras, and occasionally telescopes. If you are looking for hobbies outside these two, Im afraid they do not have very much selection for you.
Every time I travel, if I can, I like to seek out local hobby shops, trains, model cars, love it all. And these guys have it all. What I was really looking for this time was a camera battery, but when I got there, I forgot all about the battery and spent all my time in the train stuff. Friendly staff. Great shop. Wish I lived closer. (Visiting from San Diego)Good to meet you all. Thanks Colonial.
Super staff here, very friendly and helpful! Diagnosed my faulty Nikon DSLR and helped me buy and process 620 film for my Kodak Brownie Twin 20 camera. Ive been going here for years and will continue to do so.
Every time I go its always a great experience they usually have what I want and theyre always kind enough to try to help but they dont have something I want. Highly recommended
Great hobby and camera store. The employees are very helpful and friendly. If you need cameras or scale trains while in Orlando. Come here!
The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable.
Lily itβs the best! Warm, helpful and always ready to help. She makes it a pleasure to come to Colonial Photo & Hobby
Love this place staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Best Brick and mortar camera shop for new and used in Orlando.
Superb service, one of the owners came out and help me with chose a tripod, he was very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly, the had a wide selection of products it was camera heaven for me!!
I was there when the last reviewer was talking to them about his lens. I could not believe how disrespectful the owner was to this man for such a valid request. I walked out.
Just got there and Ill say I really like the place its mostly for train hobbiest and photographers but their Gundam model kit selection is great for those searching for kits Id recommend to go there who knows the kit you where searching for is right there
The best Photography store Iβve ever been to. Iβve been to a lot around the world, some are big & amazing but this one is just perfect, big where they have a lot of items & fix equipment, yet not too small enough to have a relationship with the customer even if the customer comes after a year or longer they still remember him/her & give you the best advises since ALL camera specialist have decades of photography experience. The owner works with them at the store, so that shows why itβs still the best store. Been shopping there for over a decade & still Love coming back.
It is such a bummer to have to write such a bad review, but after a few different visits I realize that it is not just me! Every time Ive come into the shop, I am met with almost nothing but condescending comments and attitudes from the older staff. From getting asked if I could even afford a repair on one of my more expensive lenses, to them today refusing to tell me exactly what was wrong with my film camera I brought in to be cleaned (Its just done for), I cannot recommend avoiding this shop enough.I brought the same done for camera over to Kiwi Camera Service and they were able to quickly figure out the issue and treated me with kindness and respect. From other reviews, it is clear that staff at Colonial is afraid to just come out and say I dont know. I would love to keep supporting a local business, but Colonial is just not worth the bad customer service.
As I travel; I like to visit the local camera stores in each city.Colonial offers a nice variety of New & Lightly Used photography gear (along with other hobbyist specialty items). The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and Customer Engaging as opposed to the Big Box store employees who can read a box.
I have been visiting there for a few years.Staff is intelligent and knowledgeable.Prices adhere to as directed by the parent company and the discounts too.Overall β wonderful, caring, attentive, intelligent, trustworthy staff.Used gear often has nice selection.
Colonial continues to out do their selves with terrible customer service. They sold me two full packs of the wrong film and refuse to refund me / exchange them/ or credit my account. So glad new photo and camera resources will be popping up in the area so I can give them my business instead! Go somewhere else if you can avoid it.
This is the best Hobby shop in all of Orlando! From cameras to trains and scale models, youd be surprised at the amount of things you can find here. They also have the best prices in town, and the friendliest most knowledgeable staff!
Great place to buy all my photography needs
Absolutely recommend. Fast and good rental pricing. Devon Nesti (name might not be spelled right) showed me specs like a pro and got me in and out with my gear in a pinch!
This place is a hidden gem!! Friendly & knowledgeable staff who are willing to help with any projects you need advice for.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Amazing place!
Great store! Lots of variety. Liked that they had new and used photo equipment. Michael was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back again soon.
Sales clerk was most helpful and pleasant.
Seriously go anywhere else for your photo needs. The batch of old men providing βcustomer serviceβ are so rude and condescending. They do not care about your business. Skip it.
The customer service has really declined. I brought my camera in for cleaning ( quoted that it would only take 3 hours). I arrive the next day to pick it up the cleaning job was not completed. They then rushed the job while I was there for about 30 min leaving dust on the mirror. When I attempted to address the issue with a manager he was dismissive and gave little care to a long time customer. Do yourself a favor and consider a business that appreciates loyal customers who work hard for every dollar.
Drove from Leesburg to have a roll of film developed and look for an accessory part for my camera. An older lady employee was rude and before I could explain what I was looking for referred me to a young girl who at the time was busy with another client. After waiting, this young girl was nice and tried to be helpful but obviously lacked knowledge on film cameras. I gave up and went to the front counter to inquire about the film developing. This young guy acted uncaring and told me that there would be a $14.00 charge for mailing my pictures to Leesburg. I promptly walked out. I wasted my trip.Ill be mailing my film to California and doing my shopping at Amazon. I wont have to put up with jerks.
Best place for any photography needs with extremely knowledgeable staff.
I come here for gunpla stuff and they have a great selection! Staff is very friendly and helpful, as well!
Horrible customer experience. Will NEVER spend a cent there. Wish I could give zero stars.
Seriously love buying models from this place, everyone who works there is super nice but the best thing? Models that are reasonably priced, Im not talking about Oh, I can get this online for about the same No way, these guys are usually five or ten bucks cheaper than online stuff. Seriously go check this place for models, Gunpla, photography, and so much more!
They carry everything I need for my photography business.
Great service. Friendly and very knowledgeable on camera gear
Your go to for camera equipment in Orlando. Very nice, helpful. Quality products.
The best photo store in Orlando. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful, with a huge side of nostalgia!
Ive been going to this store since 1988 and its always a fun place to browse but over the last 15 or so years, I find myself only actually buying from them when in a pinch. If youve never been in or just passing thorough town, you really should check it out, its a dying breed of store (sad, its really their own fault) but cool to see.On the plus side, they have great selection/variety of photo stuff for EVERY level of photographer. The Bla side is their customer service - sometimes they just dont know what they are talking about but cant seem to simply utter the words I dont know... they say everything else BUT that. Also, its feast or famine when it comes to associates, youre either hunting for someone to help you, or youll find that your followed around the store like they think youre a shoplifter. The down side, is their lack care to compete in the market AT ALL... prices are high, stock is spotty and service after the sale has really all but disappeared. If you can plan your purchase, the online shops are way cheaper, have better selection and can get you what you need within a day or two... If you find yourself in a jam, they will likely have what you need but dont even bother trying tell them how much cheaper it is on Amazon, B&H or any other site - they simply dont care.
Where else can you go where else in town can you go to get your things that you want for your hobby and have professionals helping you.
Great place very informative whether you have questions about photography or questions about building model or to anything RC they have the answers to those questions are always willing to give you there time. They put a new shutter in my D80 did a great job also restored some old photos of my grandfather. Great place and very friendly.
Great selection of hobby train and modeling items.
They are a must see for local and visiting photographers. Expert help. They still sell film and develop it in house. They sell new and used camera equipment. I bought a used lens, saved hundreds and still use it.
I had some slides made into prints. Quick, reasonably priced, and very friendly. I have purchased track for a 1934 lionel trainset, and they actually had it. Great place
Done lots of business with these guys. Drove 56 miles one way. Got there and price went from $97 to $133! And then they only would honor that $97 if they didnt take my trade. I always thought highly of the owner until then. He personally made the decision mentioned above. I unfortunately will not be back nor will my friends.
Great place to for all your hobby needs!Went in to upgrade my n scale train set. Got lots of help and advance. Great staff. Definitely coming back
I moved to Kissimmee from Long Island and needed to find a new place to develop film- I come here and I adore the film department. Everyone who works there is so knowledgeable, so helpful and I actually enjoy my visits there! Itβs also really cool to see people my own age developing my film and knowing film isnβt dead!! I usually drop my film off, buy a couple of rolls from the amazing film selection (they sell dubble film and I LOVE the options they have, itβs also great to get it directly from them and not pay shipping!) and then theyβll email me the scans so quick! They said itβll be a few days which seems so reasonable to me but itβs a really nice surprise to get them in my email no more than 24 hours later!! I could spend hours in this store. They have options if you donβt live locally like me and I appreciate that! 10/10 amazing place, amazing employees, amazing customer service, amazing selection!!!!
Very helpful and very patient cause I had lots of questions. When Im in town Ill definitely look them up again
Regina was RUDE over the phone!I was not rude! Its supposed to be Customer Service, not Customers Serve Us!
Great selection at good prices! There is such a variety of photography gear and not much difference in price of ordering. Its great if you need something same day!
I really like this store. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and they have great products and services. Its the only camera store I go to in Orlando.
Never been disappointed! Reasonable prices, helpful staff.
Needed a Canon RF lens and RF adapter. Had everything in stock and answered all of my questions. Do yourself a favor and shop here first before wasting your time at Best Buy. Support local businesses!
Every time Iβm in town I always check this place out. They have a great selection of N and HO scale. My wallet hurts every time I step in the door.
My visit was with Lilly in the camera department. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and helped with all our camera needs. I highly recommend this store!
No one in town can print photos that good for the price they charge!!!
Awesome place amazing gundam selection even better prices the only thing that would make them better is if they had warhammer
This store is only good if you need something right now. Everything I looked at is cheaper online. Also I think they have a weird policy to follow you around the store while you shop because both times I visited the store an employee hovered over me and followed me from aisle to aisle. Weird and uncomfortable. Probably wonβt be back unless I urgently need something
This place is sincerely the best hobby shop in the entirety of Orlando. Amazingly knowledgeable staff, who are super friendly. I do all of my shopping here, always!
Wide variety of hobbyβs but for the model trains I couldnβt believe it the workers were so helpful I want to come back everyday they have a lot of products and everything you wouldnβt want for an Ho N and O layout even G scale :)
Their camera staff is old and doesnt know how to operate modern photography equipment.I even brought some equipment to trade in and they wouldnt take it because they didnt know how it worked.Incompetent staff for a photo enthusiast store.
Sold us a faulty product and blamed us for it not working and refused to exchange the product. We didnβt really argue since it was only a 10$ item. If this place is to cheap to stand behind a 10$ item why on earth would I ever come back and spend more on a bigger purchase...stick to the big box retailers at least they wonβt blame you for their items not working.
Plenty of trains and camera and camera equipment on sale. They can even develop photos.
Good stock, but not the most customer friendly store. Unwilling to give a budgetary price on a trade-in, and unwilling to give a status on an item that they took a deposit on but wouldnt even give a location on the waiting list.
An amazing place that never ceases to amaze with knowledgeable staff and a terrific selection
The folks at Colonial Photo & Hobby are so knowledgeable and helpful. They educate you about the equipment (cameras, in my experience) and let you try them out in the store. Itβs great to have someone to help you decipher the differences in similar cameras and lenses, especially when it is a big purchase. They also offer educational courses in conjunction with Crealde.
Incredibly knowledgable and friendly staff. They convert slides, scan to digital media and make prints, they help out with camera information, and develop film. The store also has a huge train and model area as well, with a ton of different brands and manufacturers. I highly recommend this store!
Well, after it was my 1st time there, it wont be my LAST. Went in to update my Rc truck, didnt leave with anything, other than an awesome atmosphere, friendly staff that has that well needed MOM & POP STORE.Thanks again to the guys in the back for all the knowledge and k ow how, that I left with. I recommend anyone with a Rc passion, trains plane and possibly automobiles, give this place a chance.
These folks a very helpful and very knowledgeable. They have a great variety of stock and itβs always fun to look around at all the model trains.
Colonial Photo and Hobby is an awesome hobby store. For photography, they have a great selection of cameras and accessories, film development, and classes if you need help learning something. For trains, they have a great selection of trains and layout accessories. For models, again a great selection of modrls and model building supplies. All of the different departments are filled with employees who are experts in that specific field. All of them are very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.
Website is horrible designed. When you call to get information for Film developing you get rude technicians. Not sure Id trust this place to develop film here. Shipping is $12 starting.Good luck calling and getting information. I will pass on this place to develop film
Always such wonderful staff and camera selection. Also, lots of knowledgeable staff to help you decide on proper equipment for your needs!
This is one of the best hobby stores around! The employees are all very knowledgeable, and always down to help ya out. I highly recommend this place !
This place is dangerous for hobbies. Great selection of camera equipment and model trains. I walked in just to look around and ended up leaving with a locomotive. Great employees, very helpful.
A good mix of scale models and supplies, model train stuff, and photography equipment.
I looked at 2 Canon 60D cameras and they wanted full used price for something that was so scratched up it should have been a hundred and fifty bucks including the view screen horribly scratched prices comparably speaking to everyone else a little high I dont think its the place for me
I recently purchased a new DSLR camera for my wife who only has experience with point and shoot cameras. We were there to get some photo album pages but I overheard a salesman tell another customer about camera classes. I asked Ken, our salesman about the classes and he said they were 1 on 1 and he teaches you how to use your personal camera. I signed my wife up and I was able to attend as well since it was just one camera. Ken was very knowledgeable about the camera and the 1 on 1 format was just what we needed. The store has been here for about 40 years and so have some of the salesmen. That is evidenced by their knowledge of photography. They also sell many other hobby supplies including model trains. In some of the more modern stores you can hardly find somebody to help you and when you do they they dont even know what they sell. Here they know what they sell very well and are willing to spend the time to properly advise you before the purchase.I would highly recommend this store.
Good service as usual. Dropped off film for development and scans. They even helped me get film out of an old camera by loaning some batteries. The only thing they could do to improve is E6 processing!
I donβt know if it was just the day, but my experience was terrible. All of the staff except for this English man was extremely cold with me, looking at me the whole time as if I was going to steal something.
Please update your website. Pretty please? It is ridiculously hard to search for anything on your site. I do like your store, but am I supposed to drive 30 minutes there just to see if you have something in stock? Your website needs a makeover especially in this day and age.
Amazing place to get your film developed and to buy film in general, great prices . I wouldnβt recommend buying instax Polaroid film from here though, the mark up is a bit much.Unfortunately the thing that ruins the experience is the the rudeness of some of the staff. Part of me and my wifeβs business is customer service, especially running a photo and video company.A couple of the staff, one in particular (Iβll avoid leaving his name here) was extremely condescending and rude, and unpleasant to be asked questions by.Definitely get your film developed here, buy some film, but be weary of the staff. I hope that guy has a better day.
Awesome hobby store. Purchased a small drone for my son. And grabbed a couple of things for myself, Thanks guys. You guys rock.
Nice place good selection of paints and hobby supplies but lacking on kit selection. Good selection on gundam kits. Friendly people. Large and clean well laid out will definitely visit again when in this area
I took my cameras and lens to them to be cleaned during a very busy holiday season. I live on the coast and made the trip all the way into Orlando asked how long it would take to have everything done I was told 2 hours so I paid and they took my cameras back. Then I am told sorry the guy isnβt here today so they wonβt be ready till tomorrow!! Three hours of driving each trip mind you!!! Then I get there to pick up my equipment and nothing I paid to have done has been done and they try to blow it off like it had been. Absolutely horrible service!!! Will never return I will not recommend to any fellow photogs either! So unprofessional!!!
I have been going to Colonial Photo and Hobby since the early 1990s I have always enjoyed the large selection of plastic model airplanes that they have to offer. However, in recent trips I have noticed a decline in the variety and quantity of models of every kind. There is an increase in electric trains and Photo equipment. The store is still a great place for good value in a variety of Hobbies.
LOVE CFH, amazing store, fantastic photography equipment of all kinds, helpful and friendly staff that is well educated in their craft, and especially love that my father has been coming here since his HS days for photography supplies, and now I can do the same!! We dropped off a photograph that is over 100 years old to have it restored and I was amazed at their fantastic pricing and turn around time!
They have everything your looking for and are extremely helpful.
You can find most anything you need here if it relates to hobbies. The internet has diminished its worth to a certain degree, but for years and years it was a gold mine and a life saver for someone looking to buy some obscure tool or a fine camera. Worth stopping and just browsing through.
A great place for the professional photographer and the rank amateur. They have something for everyone. Excellent staff and plenty of off-street parking. This place has been here for decades oh, so you know that they know what theyre doing.
