Excellent customer service. They didnt just rent us a violin, they took it out and showed my daughter how to use it. He was so helpful and so good with the two extra kids I had with me. The interaction left an impression and I will be using this store for all our music needs from now on.

This place was surprisingly awesome! Most music stores just have lame pianos and guitars, but this place had a huge variety of instruments and accessories all at very affordable prices. The items we bought we actually got for a out 20% cheaper than we could find online.

The cello specialist was the best! She even played some of the cellos so I could hear them. Very accommodating and super nice!

Amazing how a little effort can turn things around. Earlier I had posted a horrible experience and a one star review for the company with them charging me a very large restocking fee ($300) for a bass trombone that was sold to me that had a manufacturing defect. So when I had returned it the automatic restock fee kicked in. I was incredibly angry about this as I had possession of the horn for less than 24 hours and the fault was with Summerhays for selling me a horn they hadnt fully vetted in the first place.Today I received a call with an apology for the mistake and a refund of the restocking fee.Thank you for making this right Summerhays!

The staff here is very helpful and they have quality instruments for relatively low prices! Would definitely recommend this place for beginning musicians through college level!

Let me preface this by saying my first experience with this store was on a Friday, 8 minutes before they were closing. I walked in with my kid’s borrowed flute & a list of supplies needed. I was happily greeted, and I explained that I had an instrument I wasn’t even sure was in good condition or usable. Maybe it needed to be cleaned? I was led to the repair department where someone else came to help me with a smile, and the girl who originally greeted me offered to shop for all the items on my list while I waited. The repairmen was kind & knowledgeable. He was very honest (I would have been an easy up sell) and told me the instrument is older & may need some newer parts, but works just fine for now. He made a couple quick tweaks to it to get it in better condition. Came back upstairs to find all of my needed supplies were gathered & I was able to quickly pay & be on my way. Every employee I came into contact with was kind & didn’t make me feel like I needed to rush. Great experience & we will be back with any and all of our instrument needs!

Fantastic music store and staff. I have spent many hours over many days here shopping for instruments and supplies and everyone that has helped me has been more than patient and accomodating.In addition to helping me find the right instrument, several staff have spent over an hour with me on multiple occasions to try out different instruments and talk about the pros and cons of them. At this point I feel like several employees are my friends and I ask for them when I arrive because I know that they will be helpful.Also, the quality of my purchases has been top knotch. I purchased an Andare GE II violin recently, with bow, case, and other supplies and I havent been dissapointed in any of it. Good products all around.

Best place to go for musical instruments and instruction books

Just upgraded our son from a beginner/intermediate trumpet to a professional trumpet. The guy who helped us was very patient, helped him with many different suggestions on which brands/models to try and what to watch for as he tested them out. He didnt push the most expensive trumpet on us which made me feel he had our best interest at heart. Our son is very happy with his new trumpet!

If you want orchestra instruments, this is the place for you. We bought all of our violins here. Started with the quarter size and traded up as they grew. Or was much cheaper to buy and trade in then rent. But we were in it for the long haul.

I took my flute in to be repaired, as it has been a while and I had some bent/leaky keys. The guy at the repair shop (can’t remember his name) was knowledgeable and was able to troubleshoot some visible problems right there. He told me it would be ready in about a week, and an estimate for the cost.A week later I received a phone call that the repairs were finished, the price was what he quoted me, and my flute sounds great! They also repaired a small rip on the inside of the case, going above and beyond what I had needed. I would recommend them for instrument repair!

We have been going to this store since my daughter started playing the violin 10 years ago. They have always been so patient and so great to work with! I know next to nothing about the violin, and they have always taken the time to help me understand what I was paying for and why. (quality, construction, etc.)Ive rarely gotten back to the instrument area before an employee has gotten to me first to see what I needed, and they always take me directly to who can help, make sure Im good, and then hand me off.The customer service is great and the staff is knowledgable.

I love this place because its clean, they have hecka instruments. They have of all kinds. They can tell you anything about music. They have many different instructors that they can refer you to if youre searching for some lessons. They allow you to try some instruments (I only saw examples of this with the violin) so that you can get a feel of it before buying.They have a wide selection of instruments from Guitars to Jews Harps; from Clarinets to Baritones to Trombones. They have great professional music advice. I would recommend going here for good quality instruments

They pulled the old bate and switch on me. Told me my daughters clarinet would be interest free...I trusted them...found out after the fact that it was 15% interest. Man they took me! Never felt more cheated. Make sure to read the fine print that they rush you through!

My husband and I were looking to buy me a trombone after losing mine in a house fire. Finances dictated that I would probably end up with an intermediate horn after viewing online prices. But Lucky me! When we inquired at Summerhays Music, we were delighted to find that they had a used professional Bach Stradivarius horn that they were willing to let go for LESS than the intermediate horn prices we had seen online! And this used horn was in perfect condition! Well worth the price! Mr. Summerhays handled the transaction himself and was very kind and knowledgeable. Well worth buying an instrument here!

Generally how be knowledgeable person greet me with how I can be helped. if I tell him I just want to look or that I dont need help theyre good to leave me alone and they dont seem upset by that. They are also very knowledgeable as to where it is. Whether its in their department or a different department they seem glad to help. The owner/ manager person is very knowledgeable about string instruments. Their repair person, John, is also very knowledgeable about winds and band instruments as well as friendly and helpful he goes above and beyond what is expected.

Bought our piano here a few months ago. Sienna was the greatest at helping us find what we needed within our price range. So nice, and a great pianist too. Glad we went there after not finding what we needed at a different piano store! Next time, well be sure to go here first!

The staff have experience with music and can give great advice if you dont know exactly what you want. Anytime Ive gone and they dont have what I need they tell me where I can find it or just order it in.

Called to rent a trumpet for a performance at the end of the week. The person on the phone had to repeatedly go check if they were able to do a temporary rental. After a long hold the employee came back and stated, We cant do that.I understand if you have a business process that doesnt let you provide a services, I was also surprised by the terse response and lack of esprit decor.Other music shops had similar situations but were much more professional in their response.My next call was to Bill Harris Music, they listened, understood what I was asking for, checked their inventory, and had something available even though its not something they do very often.Where do you think my business will go in the future?

Went to go buy a classical guitar. Was helped by Christian and Patrick, both were extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. I was bracing myself for a chore today in having to go purchase something and attempt to not be caught in some sort of Sales Trap but that wasnt the case at all here. I went and had a blast, they helped me find the instrument/equipment that was perfect for my skill level and price range. Thanks guys!

Great experience buying our first piano. Sienna was very informative and not pushy at all. She was attentive, sincere and very patient. She sought out meeting our needs rather than just focusing on closing a sale. They delivered our piano the very next day and really worked around our schedule.Everyone we dealt with was kind and very helpful.

Oh man. I had my five year old, four year old, and one year old with me. And the guy who was helping me let them try all kinds of instruments and really experience things even though its scary to do that with young children. He was so happy and kind and I was so impressed and I felt so welcomed! Definitely going back just because he was awesome!!

Love this store. I go in to get reeds, been playing for 30 yrs., thought I knew everything about it. They showed me a REED GEEK that can shave a bad reed, LOVE LOVE IT!! Glad I listened. Also, was impressed with their selection of instruments. They must have the biggest selection around, its nice to be able to actually play them, to try so many out.

I came in at about 2:30 looking for a new Alto mouthpiece, left at 6:30 with not only a great mouthpiece but a whole Sax and several boxes of reeds! The staff were very kind, the managers fair and patient. Plus I got a great deal on all my equipment. I truly feel that I now have something special that will last me my whole life. Thanks especially to Waylon at Summerhays for being so patient with me, (more than an hour is probably less time than he wants to spend with any customer although I cant speak for him) Regardless I am very happy with my purchase decision and even more happy with the treatment I was given while I was there. Standard older music store with retail prices. There is a lot of staff. At this location. They also have a little concert hall. Pretty large selection. There is also a basement with more stuff.

I stopped in today with my husband. Limited selection of pianos and no associate greeted us or asked us if we needed assistance and we were there for several minutes. But the prices were good--we saw a piano we really liked and would have bought it if there if someone had just come and helped us. We ended up going down the road to a different store where an associate sat down with us for quite some time and showed us all the options.

Rachel in the repair department is knowledgeable and kind. I really enjoyed talking with her and I know my cello is in good hands. I even came from another state to get my instrument seen here. These people know what theyre doing. 😊

Everything about this place is amazing! I went to get my flute because it couldnt play an F. The repairman told me what was wrong and fixed it free of charge. When I went to go try new flutes the person showing me around was extremely kind and taught me new things. I wish I could go past 5 stars with this place.

Went in today to get some violin pegs for a violin shaped box Im carving for my niece. The staff was helpful and super attentive, even helped me resize them to what I needed in order to fit the box. Ill definitely be going back for any future purchases.

Today was our first visit to Summerhays Music store but it wont be our last! I had all 5 of my children with me, my baby in a stroller, and the music book I needed was downstairs. The young man at the counter asked if he could help carry the stroller down the stairs for me. I was very appreciative of his help and kindness. He was a true gentleman!!

I went to purchase a new set of strings for my violin and a bow to complement, I had been greeted as I entered and immediately helped. Soon I had a new set of strings and they even strung them up for free. I also had an easy time selecting the bow I wanted, they even had a large room full of instruments to test things out on. Unfortunately, they did not have a large selection of music for violin that I could see. Most of it either being for other instruments or the entire score. Overall a good experience with a great atmosphere.

No one on the sales floor said hello to me at all. When I went to the repair shop the repair guy commented to others when he saw me, stating I guess I wont get this finished today. I definitely wont be back to that Summerhays store. they dont care about their customers. This has been the same response I received multiple times.

Was a great experience until I found out what they had done... Others may have a good experience, but if you are looking to get a piano and they tell you about their rent-to-buy program, its not truly a rent to buy. You are taking a loan on the piano and it will come with a lot of interest each month. The sales guy told me when I bought my piano that rent to own was not a loan because they had a third party loan option that had no interest. If he was truly looking out for me he would have directed me to the third party lender.

Im so happy with my experience! I went in looking for a full size cello and I was quickly helped by several people--all of them very friendly and knowledgeable! The cello salesman listened to my wants and found me the perfect fit!...exactly what I wanted...something easy for my aging hands to play. The owner/manager gave me a good deal and helped me even more by suggesting pegs that adjust easily without the push and pull of traditional tuning pegs...dream come true!!!! Im so excited! They even installed the new pegs within the hour, saving me from having to make another trip to Orem. Im just thrilled with my cello and the wonderful service I received today!!!!

VERY Disappointing. I went in on Friday to look for a violin for my 9 year old son. I was greeted by two very kind gentlemen and one continued to assist me. He brought out three violins, pulled the least expensive one out and tuned it, showed my son how to hold it, and told me about it, told me it was $295, or $15 per month on a rent to own basis, (even checked to be sure he was quoting me the right price) he told me the other violins would be more expensive and asked if I wanted to look at them, I said no, this one would do fine, but I needed to talk with my husband first. So the associate took down my name and said he would hold the violin for me. Fast forward to Tuesday, I went back to get the violin, The only associate I could see was on the phone, so I stood at her desk and waited, she hung up the phone and walked away, without even acknowledging me, then an older gentleman greeted me and proceeded to help me, he found the violin in the back with my name on it and began ringing me out, he asked me how much I was quoted and I told him, he said he needed to clear it with someone first, much to my dismay it was the woman who had walked away from me earlier, and she said no, that violin is a level 2 (Which evidently means it is $395). She was not apologetic, she did not attempt to call the associate that quoted me the $295 price, despite recognizing his handwriting on the note made to reserve the violin for me. She almost acted as if I was trying to scam her, this was my first experience with this store and I can promise it will be my last. I have done business with Best in Music and Guitar Center and highly recommend both. I will be returning the violin as soon as I find another one somewhere else. I may have felt differently if the woman calling the shots was the least bit apologetic or kind, but she was crass and rude, and very unprofessional about the situation.

Mostly good, but they have definitely gone downhill in recent years. The music selection is dwindling and disorganized. They can also be very overpriced when compared with competition. I have always loved the service here, though.
