I have issue with trusting mechanics now a days due to high payouts plus labor and all the bills for car issues,BUT this is the first time I went and try this FIX AND SMOGauto repair in Tustin Orange..and Man!at first I was hesitant because I fear to pay thousands and thousands of dollars but man!! BEWARE!! These people are crooks. The place replaced my rear brake pads on my 80K mile vehicle. They attempted to make me buy new rear drums when the OEM drums arent replaced until 200K miles under normal driving conditions. When I picked up my vehicle and drove it home, the tire pressure sensor light came on. I called the place and asked why my tire air sensor light came on. The sales guy attempted to persuaded me to bring the car back for a check up. I arrived home and discovered the tires were over inflated to 80 psi of air. The tires normal operating pressure is about 45 psi. I believe this auto repair shop tried to lure me back to scam me in buying new tire air pressure sensors, .

I bring my vehicles here for service and have for a long time. My entire family and many friends now do as well. Alex is honest (won’t up charge or add services not needed). He has always been friendly and it’s easy to see he cares about his customers. We bring over 10 vehicles here just in our family alone. Dad took his 1975 Car to see if Fix and smog could take care of a rough idle. Alex let Dad know yes so Dad advised him I would call to get the details. Dad and ai called and the person said there was no Alex he told us this several times, then Alex got on the phone and as that occurred we could hear the background someone said to hang up and there are not going to work on that car. There was profanity and then click. They hung up on us. A few minutes later we get a call from an unknown number in Orange. We pick up and it was Alex. I appreciated him calling back but I let him know we do not want to do business with them and wont take car there. He assured me all was ok. I said no thanks and hung up the call. They really need to get it together within there team. When in doubt steer clear. Ask alot of questions, legit great service places wont mind but quick buck places will get tired and its a tell tale sign to leave.

Was told the parts I bought for my car did not fit and I had to purchase their parts instead. Afterwards, decided to call the manufacturer and check my part numbers and they said they were the correct parts. I was lied to and cheated out of money.

This is not an honest business and full of bad vibes. I had my car diognosed ( which had a general code to begin with p0340, and theyre idea of diognostics is ; oh Im going to replace a part see if that helps) they dont have or follow troubleshoot procedures and mainly just want the customers hard earned money. Furthermore, they wanted to change my brake pads when they were half way through : told me it was for safety to attempt to persuade me.They are no better than common thieves, full of deceit.

My family and I have been taking our cars to Fix N Smog for many, many years. Alex has provided the best service and prices we have ever received. We have 3 cars, and a lot of family and friends that have also made Fix n Smog their own autobody repair shop. Alex was referred to us by another shop that couldnt do the very involved work our car needed. We had a great relationship with this shop, and he told us we could completely trust Alex. I went there for a simple oil change early in the afternoon, and the guys there told me that he would not be able to get to my car by the end of the work day because he had 6 other cars to do oil changes on. It doesnt take that long to do an oil change. And the place looked really dirty and greasy.

Wow! Super fast service! When I called I was told no appointment needed and the service would take about 30 minutes! I was in and out in 20 minutes and the owner was courteous and professional! Could not have been easier!

Went in for new brakes and left with $800 worth of repairs.I left my pick up truck for a few hours so that they could perform the repairs it needed (which I agreed to pay for).When I came to pick up my truck I asked one of the mechanics to give me all the used parts so that I can inspect them for damage... The mechanic then tells me that they were sitting somewhere but now they are gone... When I got home I lifted my truck with a jack I noticed that aside from the brake pads, none of the parts they claimed to have changed were new or even changed for that matter.These guys including the owner are clowns. I took my truck back and they refused to make the repairs they stated that they had done on the receipt.Dont be mislead by the 5 star reviews on here. These guys are crooks!

When I called to see if they could check my 1992 Toyota Camry for small repair they said yes bring it in I took it in and then they said no what a waste of my time. I asked the guy twice I believe Albert was his name to make sure that they could fix my car he said yes and that he could take me home while I waited my car to be repaired. Dont take your car here

I bought a used car and have the habit of performing any neglected/ necessary service to ensure the safety and reliability of the car. I searched for a place to get a transmission flush, install new shocks and get an alignment and Fix N Smog came out in the local google search. Contacted the shop on a moments notice and Alex said to bring the car over. Its an European car and I was hesitant to bring it to a regular shop but my concern was quickly put to ease. Alex quickly went over the car and after talking to him I knew he was knowledgeable about the subject and the scope of the job and the vehicle specifics. He gave me a great estimate and I was so happy I also got the head gasket fixed ( I knew it was leaking). I left the shop and before the end of the day the job was done. The Car not only feels great, but also handles better. Alex shop handle my request on a timely manner, did an excellent job and at a fair price. I am so happy with the service that I brought my wifes car when the AC went out without even thinking twice about this garage and again Alex did fix everything wrong with the AC on time and on budget. My cars check engine light was on and it needed to get smogged for registration. When I called the office, Alex asked me to just bring it over. He diagnosed the problem and gave me a very fair estimate of the repair costs and fixed and smogged it within a few hours. Excellent service, courteous and professional team. You definitely do NOT want to bring your car to Fix and Smog in Orange. The mechanic who ran my test did something to my car so now the Service Engine light is on and it is idling really high. I noticed it right away and brought it to his attention.He said it was that way when I brought it in which in NOT TRUE! I now need to have it towed in to my trustworthy mechanic Ron at Olive Garage in Orange.DO NOT USE THIS PLACE FOR A STAR SMOG TEST!!!! DONT LET THE COUPON FOOL YOU, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.I tried to speak to him on the phone after returning home, HE HUNG UP ON ME. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I took my 1997 Ford Explorer in for a smog test and possible repairs, Was told they do not do smog tests on cars before 2000 because it requires a special computer. Dont you think they should advertise this?

New to California from Chicago and after the long drive needed to do a lot of work on my car ranging from changing a headlight, to getting new brakes, and even an oil change. I drive a GLK so Im picky about who i let work on my car, but after talking to Alex I felt pretty comfortable giving him and his workshop a shot. The owner is a jerk, he has horrible customer service does NOT know how to smile and as a owner the is the most important thing for a business. It took 5 minutes for him to tell me and another client that our cars did not pass smog inspection and it will cost $78 for them to only inspect what is wrong then he will tell us what the cost for repairs will be. It is ridicules because after I left his shop I went to a TEST ONLY place and my car passed the smog check with no problem. He is just ripping people off by not passing the smogs and charging for non needed repairs. Do not go to this shop for a smog because the owner is a jerk and will try to get more money from you. I recommend that you go to a TEST ONLY shop....

I called ahead and was quoted $38 for the smog check and certificate. Once there, the signs posted inside said $49.95 smog check + $8.25 certificate so I would recommend calling ahead of time for the best price. Four stars for my good price and good service, but minus one for charging more to walk-ins. Im sure all auto shops likely do the same though.

Ive been trying to get my Chevy avalanche smogged for a few months now . Ive taken care of many different things that a few different places said that was the reason my engine light was on. I wrote down codes that I told pertained to transmission so I took it to the place that jxust the recently installed my transmission. Just to be told in was an emissions problem . I brought to fix n smog and they found a broken charcoal canister and a couple of broken o2sensors . Just when I was about to throw in the towel on my avalanche which was starting to feel like a money pit. The diagnosis and correction of the unseen issues have finally been resolved. Ive been going to this shop for years. Alex is great. Hell tell you what the issue is, show it to you if you ask, and stick to the price he gives you. I always feel like Im in good hands, and even though the name of the shop may make you think its only for smog inspections, theyve done all sorts of stuff to my cars.

I got a coupon flyer from here so I decided to take them up on their brake-pad and oil-change specials. Parking is a little tight but I got in and was greeted by Alex who was very knowledgeable and explained to me that I would need Ceramic Pads because of my type of vehicle but would still give me a discounted rate. Because I didnt have the time to wait for the repairs, he kindly offered a shop loaner vehicle while my repairs were being done. I was shocked! Ive never been offered a loaner for a couple hours of work. The price for all the work (front & rear pads, and 4 rotors, and oil change) was $300 cheaper than what I was quoted at Midas with coupons and I didnt have to make an appointment! Smog thieves!! Attracted to the advertised lower price and the pass or dont pay discount with my 10 yr old car. Failed with the reason of modified and a split gas cap seal. Would not give me my keys back until I payed.Took it to a different smog shop. Turns out the modification is irrelevant to the smog check and the original gas cap was 100% OK. I wasted $30 on this place to get failed for reasons that were not even arbitrary. Now I have a car that has been flagged in the CARB database as modified, so I will probably get flagged for a SMOG check next year as well. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE.
