Came here for an AC Compressor replacement. They checked the vehicle and confirmed the AC compressor was out. I went to buy the part and brought it back to be installed and was told it was wrong. I questioned it but was shown how and why it was wrong. I bought the part from them and everything else went smooth. AC blows super cold and running fine. Will recheck in a year as that is when the labor warranty expires. Overall, great experience! Staff can be a bit pushy with trying to sell you stuff but simply decline the offer or go elsewhere for parts if you’re trying to get a low price. Thank you to Daniel and Humberto πŸ‘

Poor phone skills. Called to simply cancel a 3pm appointment. Rang for 5 mins. Seemed annoyed and overwhelmed. Im with a customer = TALK (to the hand)TO THE STAY ON HOLD MUSIC forever. Finally picked up phone in the 13th minute. How difficult is it to note a name and appointment time. It only took 10 seconds to accomplish after the second employee picked up. No situational awareness. Good to know before doing business here. Hope things improve. It would help everyone.

My battery died and triple A charged it and told me that I needed a new one immediately but that they didn’t have the correct size. So I pulled into Pep Boys right as they were closing. They asked me what was going on and I told them what triple A said. They said that they would take care of it and I had a new battery installed within 10 minutes. I recommend purchasing auto parts online with the Pep Boys app. All the coupons and their best prices are automatically applied to your purchase. They usually notify you that the order is ready for pickup in just a few minutes. In store pickup is always fast and convenient. The employees here are also courteous and helpful.

Tried to return a bad battery I bought last August. 1st location said they couldnt help me because they are a service center and not a retail store even though I purchased the battery at that location??? I had to drive several miles to another store to exchange it. When I got to the other store they wouldnt take the battery out of the car.I would have to bring into the store for them to exchange it.I even offered to take it out and bring it into the store if I could borrow an adjustable wrench to do it,as I was parked outside with the car running. No go there either. Now I have to make an extra trip back there.This is customer service??? Im so disgusted Ill need buy another thing from them pep boys. To Hell with them!

In 2020 I would think customer service would be a number 1 priority to any business that is allowed to stay open. For what its worth, even though I had to drive a good distance to another store, I will still continue to go to Pep Boys instead of AutoZone.

I have a volvo and the headlight bulb went out. When I went to change it I noticed it was a type Ive never seen and looked to be wired in and not one that can be just plug in. I went here and the said it would cost $70 to switch the bulb!!!!! I said no way and went to a small shop for a second opinion. It was just a euro style that was just an unclip and clip in the new one took 30 seconds. Shame on you pep boys for trying to take advantage and rip off a customer. Will never go to pep boys for anything ever again.

Went in to have our battery tested after it had died unexpectedly. This Pep Boys was on the way home, so we stopped in. We had just jumped the battery not 15 minutes prior, checked the connections, and checked for leaks.The service rep immediately started trying to sell a new battery, and hassled us over the pep boys battery that we have that is still under warranty, saying they couldnt see it well enough to verify it was theirs. The tech acted surprised when we asked if the battery was tested, and the rep tried telling my wife and I that the battery was leaking and covered in corrosion, and it needed replaced anyway. Yeah, were not having these old school sleaze tactics. We left and went to our normal Pep Boys, where they actually tested it and visually inspected it, then showed us the printout and explained the battery was perfectly fine.Only come here if you want to be lied to and pushed for a quick sale. Head over to the Pep Boys on Lincoln and State College if you want to be treated properly.

Changing review to 4 stars to support the business.Edit: They cant get it right. Changing back to 2 stars. After 15+ days, picked up the order. But couldnt go uneventful. Borderline rudeness. Put up correct amount on screen then computer restarted and then charged more without online discount. Had to explain the whole thing and then hesitantly corrected the amount. Terrible customer service. Went in to get a new tire and they broke two of the wheel studs and then tried to charge me to repair it. Also, it took over two hours for them to change the tire when there was nobody else ahead of me. The whole time they were laughing about it, I guess they thought it was real amusing to them. To top it all off, when I got home to replace the hub bearing assembly, none of the nuts and bolts were tight. You would think they would at least torque the wheel lugs to spec.

I called ON 10/24/19 looking for brake pads. They assured me after several times that they had them in stock, so I drove from two cities over and turns out they didnt actually have them.After realizing they did not have them at their location Brandon and Chris were able to contact another store that did have them in Chino and said they would have the brake pads by noon the following day as, they were going to have a driver go get them or worse case scenario Chris told Brandon in front of me that he could go get them in the morning.I called after 2:15 pm on 10/25/19 to check if they had them in already as they promised and Brandon who answered said they couldnt send the driver to get them so, I would actually have to wait a couple of days.Not only did they fail on giving me the correct information to begin with but they also failed to make good on their promise. What bothers me the most is that they didnt even have the decency or courtesy of giving me a call early to inform me of the issue in order for me to find another alternative.IM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!

My boyfriend took the public transportation from over 30 miles away (2.5hr commute including 2 trains and a rideshare) in order to get a car inspected from a nearby dealership at this location....I called several times to make sure that they will be able to take him in, and that the car can be inspected by 8pm if he arrives at 6 at the latest. The guy who answered assured me would be able to do the inspection today. My boyfriend arrived at 6, and the guy there said whoops the inspector left at 5:50 because we thought thats when youd arrive. Really? if they expected him at 5:50, then why did they leave right then? Like what? You couldnt just wait for another 10 minutes or call to see if we were still coming? Some businesses are run by people who just dont give a ------- about the customers. They are, in fact, robots.

My boyfriends car needed to be fixed and I found out too late how super expensive it was compared to other shops I talked to. I came in on Saturday 12/20 with a tire that needed repairs. The guy at the service desk told me it would be over an hour wait. He offered to make an appointment for me so that I would not have to wait. I went ahead and made an appointment for Monday morning 12/22 at 9 am, he said even though they open at 8 that the earliest appointments he make are for 9 am. I came in Monday morning at 845 and there were several people in line. After waiting 20 min in line I was helped out. I explained that I had scheduled an appointment so that my wait wouldnt be too long. They took my information and said they would let me know how long it would take to just have a seat in the waiting room. After 30 min someone came in and said my car was 3rd in line to be serviced. I am writing this at 10:03am and my car is still not in the service bay. I dont understand why I made an appointment if it is still going to take over an hour of waiting to get my car looked at.I am very disappointed with the level of service here and will definitely not return as a customer.

I went in to purchase replacement bulbs for my vehicle. I went to the parts department, was greeted with a smile by the young lady at the parts department. She immediately helped me find the right part and gave me options about which bulbs would be the best fit for what I actually needed. Betty, at the checkout counter, helped me by informing me of a discount I did not know about for my purchase. OVERALL I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE I GOT FROM PEP BOYS. This pep boys totally ripped me off and took advantage of me. I spent $700 here for them to replace multiple things that didn’t even need to be replaced. My normal mechanic told me it was obvious what needed to be fixed from the start, but instead the mechanic at pep boys claimed there were other issues. They just stood in front of me blatantly lying about the work that needed to be done because they knew I was a young girl who wasn’t an expert on cars. I knew mechanics do this going in, and I feel so stupid for ever letting these people take my money. I knew there was something off when they fixed my car so quickly... NEVER go here.

Pep Boys is a California Institution and has an extremely large selection of auto parts and Automotive accessories including a lot of hard to find items. For example I went there today to get trailer hitch accessories and they had all the different sizes of drop hitches and hitch balls and even running lights and all kinds of other things for that kind of need. They also take exchanges with no questions asked and the service is very prompt and friendly and you really couldnt ask for a better situation.

Came here for an oil change, Daniel was patient explaining the different oil options available for my 2015 Golf. I had to make sure the oil he was listing met the VW/AUDI 502.00 and 505.00 spec, which they did. Daniel had no problem taking me to the back stock and showing the different options and their manufacturer’s rating. I went with the Pennzoil Euro Platinum 5w-40. Great pricing.The other tire store I went to recommended the wrong oil for my car, and I ran away. Pepboys in Orange carries all the right oil and I am confident bringing my car here again.

Sent my daughter in with her truck, was making a lot of noise and shaking under the truck. they said breaks and roters 600.00 and some dollars. a few days later the driveshaft falls off on her while she was driving at night. not good. another shop just replacd the drive shaft 800.00 and some dollars. they kept the truck over night at pep boys because they heard the noise but then gave the truck back to her with 0ut fixing the real problem. could have been very serious and some one could have been very hurt. Never go back to that one.

I’m in the Navy and my husband and I just moved from Mississippi to California. After the long drive across country our vehicles both needed a little bit of maintenance. I decided to take my husbands car to Pep Boys because I had a good experience with them in the past. Not this location, but the company in general. This review is about the location in Orange, California located on 215 East Katella Ave. Front desk employee: Caleb. Mechanic (according to receipt): Miguel V. I went back to get my husband’s car. I needed an oil change, tire rotation, and a tire repaired. I was quoted $106 for the work and service. I was asked by the front desk clerk (Caleb) the year of the vehicle, I was uncertain of the year and the clerk said that he would be able to look at the vehicle and figure it out. I explained that it was my husbandβ€˜s vehicle and I don’t drive it very often and that he was taking my car to work today so I was trying to help him out by getting his car’s maintenance done. I think that’s where I went wrong. I clearly didn’t know enough about the vehicle or what was going on in that situation so the employees at this location, saw an opportunity to take advantage of me. They took my vehicle for a couple of hours and said they are going to take care of the work for me. I came back with about 15 or 20 minutes left until my car was ready. Once it was ready, I saw the new service breakdown. The services at this point cost around $126. The price went up for some unknown reason, the reason wasn’t explained. I also didn’t ask. That’s how much trust I put into this business. That trust was misplaced. When my husband got home that evening he asked how everything went with the vehicle. I said it went great. I was still unknown to the horrors that were to come. To make a long story a little bit shorter, the oil wasn’t changed. The tire was not repaired. And the tires were not rotated. The oil was showing that it was a quart low. The tire was still flat. And the brake dust was undisturbed giving evidence that a tire rotation didn’t happen. We were furious. The next morning my husband called every number that he possibly could to get a hold of somebody important or that could fix this problem. He was able to get in contact with the district manager (Ron), who has been very helpful and trying to remedy this problem. However, all I wanted was to pay my $126 and have the work that I expected to be done, be done properly. My husband went to the same location in Orange California the next day and he was greeted very rudely with employees that denied his claims. Our money was eventually refunded in cash. This situation has become β€œa thing”. The district manager (Ron) there has been extremely helpful by trying to fix this problem. Conclusion: Do not go to this location. I was taken advantage of by this location. Unfortunately, this will happen to many other women. That is not the world we need to live in. Do your job. Do your job at the quality your company expects. This was a terrible experience with this company. I feel discriminated against as a woman in this situation. I challenge anyone to question the work/services being done at this location. The credibility of the employees at this locations needs to be questioned. This is bad business and it’s being cultivated from somewhere (maybe there, maybe not). Stop doing this. This is in no way a slam at the larger scale at Pep Boys. District manager Ron has been very helpful (I don’t think he would create a culture at Pep Boys that discriminated against women or lesser informed customers). I know this review will hurt those involved and I’m sure higher management is mortified this happened. I hope this activates more awareness in the company about what’s happening in the trenches of the company. All I wanted was to pay the $126 (originally quoted at $106 but I was okay with the extra $20) and have the work I asked them to do, be done.

If you have the brain the size of a quarter, you will not take your business here. Every single employee there from the manager Lugardo, to Neil and all the other intellectually challenged excuses for human beings are of no help whatsoever. I (unfortunately) took my BMW there to get the tires rotated, was told it would be about an hour so I posted up in the lobby. 3... THREE hours later they call me and say that a bushing and bracket needs to be replaced and would be $260.00. Tires never got rotated, spent 3 hours in that dump for nothing. Save yourself the trouble and find a respectable chain of repair shops or better yet, a mom and pop shop that actually cares about their business and customers.

They changed the layout of the store, not a fun place to shop like with the old store layout that had the speed shop. Now just and ordinary pep boys, small and cramped. Well I still have the Upland store with the cool large layout.

I brought a car for checking yesterday and they told me to bring the car tomorrow because the service guy left 30 minutes before they closed . Next day, they make an excuse that you have to make an appointment and they can’t check my car. I called the guy who works there and while I’m talking he shut the phone. Is this how are you dealing with your customers!!!!!!

Went in to grab a simple air filter replacement and ended up talking to the clerk for like 15 mins about Diesel engines and electric vehicles. Great experience and knowledgeable friendly staff.

Yes Sir, All the bad reviews on here are true. This is by far the worst PEP Boys store I have ever experienced. They refused my business and wouldnt even diagnose. Called to make an appointment to get my vehicle look at. They said that they will not be able to get to it today but maybe tomorrow...And I got the good all story: I only have one mechanic on duty, hes at lunch break right now, he has 2 cars for today and he leaves at 5pm, blah... I dont recommend it at all.

Ive patronized this shop for over 12 years and my overall experience has been fine for routine services. Some visits were great – in/out quickly, friendly service, and other times a 30 minute oil change turned into 3 hours of waiting or that one time the service rep lost my keys after insisting that he gave them back to me (they were in the service bay). Everyone can have a bad day and nothing is ever perfect all the time. However, I stopped my patronage after the following occurred:During a routine oil change, the service rep tried scaring me into authorizing over $2,000 of work stating that one of my struts was cracked and could break at any time. He told me how it could become a really big problem and cited that another woman with a similar issue refused their recommended service and a few days later she had to have her car towed to the shop. I would have spent the money if I had the funds, but I didn’t so I refused the service. When I went back for another oil change, I asked if the crack had gotten bigger - the rep had no clue what I was talking about. I told him the story and asked why it wasn’t documented in the computer and he didn’t have an answer. He did ask the mechanic working on my car to check the struts – no crack. Then, when I paid for my car, the rep told me that my struts were worn and causing misalignment/uneven tire wear. But then he started in about my strut mounts – they really needed to be replaced, the metal was flaking off, the integrity of the mount was compromised, if they broke while I was driving I’d be in trouble, you can’t just change the strut mounts, and so on. Two visits where two different service reps tried scaring me into authorizing services. I’ve totally lost confidence in this location. I went elsewhere for new tires and a frontend alignment. While there I asked about the struts/strut mounts – no demonstrable risk found other than normal wear and tear. Replacement after 10 years is a standard recommendation, but there was nothing actually wrong with the equipment. It’s been over a year later since I was told about β€œthe crack” and my struts/strut mounts are still getting the job done.I would recommend this location for minor, routine services. However, be warned – the service that they suggest may not be needed – get a second opinion and comparable prices quotes if you can; otherwise, avoid this location unless you have extra money for recommended, but unnecessary services.

This Pep Boys location is great for procuring hard-to-find parts, and the staff is very helpful and insightful should you have any technical questions you want to run by them. The store has a large offering of parts and gear, and you can usually find exactly what youre looking for.

Im amazed. Went for oil change and to have the broken oil filler cap replaced (I provided the new cap). Service was fast and they didnt charge labor for the cap! When have you ever had service done on your car for $20!!!
