I own a new to me 04 Chevy Silverado 1500 manual transmission. My truck was not starting so I had to have it towed into a shop. Livery Stable was recommended by a friend. I called them and they suggested having Marvins Tow (they are listed on their website) bring my truck in AND if I had the tow put on my bill I would get their pricing! So from the start they saved me money! The repair was timely, took a few days for them to get to it, the sign of a busy shop. When the truck got to the shop it started. When they called me I asked them to go ahead and do a once over to see if they could find the issue. They did, drove the truck several times and finally the mechanic had it act up on him. He ran other tests and finally narrowed down the issue. I know they spent more than 1 hour on diagnosing this issue, yet I was only charged the 1 hour diagnostic fee. They replaced the part and even tested it the next day to make sure it was running properly. The price was fair, especially including a tow! The work was honest and they communicated with me all along the way. We have five cars in our family fleet and they have earned a return visit since we only buy used cars! I recently bought a car from a seller who told me about things he fixed. After my power steering went out and Livery Stable employees looked at the vehicle, I was upset to hear that everything the seller told me he fixed was actually not fixed. With that being said, the guys at Livery were friendly and listened to all my concerns. My wife brought her car here to have her brakes fixed, something I normally do, but there was snow on the ground and man it was cold outside! Its not my first go around with auto repair so I kinda had a price figured up in my head, with and without rotor replacement. They targeted it precisely, but... and do I mean a big ol but... :) They called me later that morning with a bit of bad news, it seems that my wife was near catastrophe, not far from having a wheel pop plum off the car as she barrels, I mean daintily rolls down the highway. Unfortunately for me that means the price was going to about triple. At first there was a little sticker shock, it wasnt anything I really wanted to hear. But its my family and I want them safe, it also meant that according to man law I was mandated to do some investigating. These guys not only broke down what the problem was, they readily itemized the costs, gave me options, suggestions based on real safety concerns and then the owner told me what order hed prioritize repairs for his own family. We bit the bullet and had it all done. But you best believe when I got home, (as much as I didnt want to), I got under the car an checked it all out. Like the precision of a surgeon with a life in the balance they replaced all the necessary components to Make My Family Safe Again! I went to The Livery Stable for the first time last week! I took my car in for an oil change first and had a great, uneventful experience. Then on Thursday I took our Honda Odyssey in to balance the tires in preparation for a weekend trip on Friday morning. The team quickly told me that balancing wasnt our problem, but that we needed new tires! The guys at The Livery Stable had our new tires in hand and on the van before we left for our trip at 9:00 am the next morning!! We had a smooth ride! Superior service and trustworthy! Couldnt ask for more from an auto shop!!

This is a terrific shop.Ive recommended the Livery Stable to dozens of people. Bruce and his people are really honest, straightforward, price-competitive, and they do really good work. I think we started using the Livery Stable in the early 1990s. My entire extended family represents about 15 vehicles these days, and aside from one BMW (he doesnt work on those) the Livery Stable takes care of all of them.Right now my two oldest vehicles have 252K and 154K miles and they see Bruce whenever they have issues. They run great.The shop is small, so you need to make an appointment. After theyve had a look at it, theyll call, tell you what needs doing, what might be put off, and how much whatever you decide will cost out the door.When you keep your vehicles as long as we do, getting a mechanic that you like and trust is a huge deal. Were very happy with the Livery Stable.

This is the only place I take my cars for service. My current ride is a 2002 Nissan Frontier with 245k and still going strong. The Livery Stable helps me keep it road worthy. After changing my own oil for 50 years, Ive decided to retire and let them do it. Only a few dollars more that buying the oil and filter myself. Next in the shop will be my new Outback.

Good, Fast ServiceMy vehicle was in the service bay within 5 minutes of arrival. I asked about and was fully informed on all aspects of the service to be performed. Wait time was reasonable for the requested service. Staff were very freindly and informative. I liked the summary sheet provided with the invoice that described all work performed and items checked.

I was first referred to The Livery Stables by my mother. She had said that when her and my father went into their office they had a check engine light problem, which had been diagnosed to be a sensor or catalytic converter issue. I do not know the specifics of the outcome of her experience but I assume she was very pleased because The Livery Stables was the first place that her and my father recommended.I called Bruce in the office and he was very polite. Usually when I call an automotive shop the person who answers if rushed and brief to the point of being considered rude. But not Bruce, I had mentioned my mothers name and he remembered her car and the problem she had and even asked if I knew anything about how satisfied she was with the service she had received. I informed him that the reason I was calling was due in majority to her good graces, along with the plethora of positive reviews online. Anyway, I informed Bruce of the problem (which was a check engine light that had been diagnosed by the Ford dealership to be a bad catalytic converter, and the cost was estimated to be nearly $1600 if we had it done there or $1100 at a trusted partner shop, but they could not check the other catalytic converter in the rear due to its position) and he said to bring it in and he would look it over. I arrived with the Escape at a time of my choosing and he listened to my story about what Ford found and then told me, preliminarily, what he thought the problem could have been. I dropped the car off just before they were closing for the day, and very early the next morning Bruce returned my call to inform me of what the problem was, there were actually TWO bad catalytic converters when Ford could only check the one due to the limited test they had run. He also said that the problem was not a immediate issue that if we would like to wait to have the service completed he would return the car to us no charge. However, I wanted the problem fixed as soon as possible and Bruce estimated the cost of the services to be just over $1000...(thats $600 dollars lower than Ford had quoted us for ONE catalytic converter and Bruces price was for TWO) Bruce had said that the front converter was in very bad shape and the rear converter would go bad soon from the material flowing from the clogged converter into the secondary converter. He said he could do it all at once to save me money on labor costs down the road. After speaking with my wife I told him to go ahead. Bruce said okay and that it would likely be done the following day. Well later in the day, to my surprise, Jeff, another polite individual from their shop called and said that the vehicle was done.In summary, this was a fantastic place for us to have the service done at. We were treated with respect, and every single problem and potential problem was put into laymans terms and we felt as if we fully understood how our vehicle was malfunctioning and what parts were causing it. I am gracious to my parents for recommending them to us and I am very gracious to the Livery Stable for the impeccable service. I have a general knowledge of vehicles and vague ideas of problems and maintenance issues in cars and they were not trying to add on services that I didnt need. They treated me like a person and not a paycheck. That is a rare quality. I would recommend this fine group of people anyone who has any issue with their vehicle. Good Job!p.s. - I work as a tire and lube technician at a retail store and anytime someone comes into the shop with a problem that we dont service (which is all the time, we only do oil changes and tires replacements) I recommend them to the livery stables from now on. I know this review was a bit long but I wanted to share the great experience I had at their shop.

Very disappointed. Our first few visits had been great! Great service and very fexible about getting us in. We felt well taken care of.After a few oil changea, we suddenly needed expensive work done every time we brought the car in. At first we didnt think much of if. But then it was EVERY time we went in. They on a few occasions wanted to repair parts that were already brand new or has just been replaced.Our car was actually worse after the last visit... So we returned to the dealership. They ended up having to fix several things that Livery had done wrong.

I went to Tires Plus in Olathe to see about a front-end alignment problem where it looked like my camber was off, causing uneven wear on the curb-side part of the tread on my front tires. They put my car on the alignment machine, and came back later telling me theyd have to replace the lower ball joints in order to adjust the camber which their machine said was off by quite a bit. I also had them do a $25 end-to-end inspection of my vehicle, so they told me my brakes needed done, and that would involve new pads front and rear, and new discs for the rear too. In total, they wanted to do $1200 worth of repairs on my car.Since this is a large amount of money for me, I decided to take their service recommendations and shop around some other places in Olathe. I called Brets, Anderson Auto, and The Livery Stable Automotive. Money was obviously an issue for me and I wanted to know upfront from each place an approximate figure that they might charge for the work I might need done. The only one who wanted to even talk prices with me over the phone was Bruce at Livery Stable.In the end, I decided to take my car to Livery Stable for a few reasons. First of all, Bruce actually worked with me over the phone to help me get an idea of what to expect financially, which I respected, and he didnt seem to want to charge me $50 just to look at my car before he would talk business. His hourly rate was a little less than Tires Plus, and, from their website and the other reviews attached to their Google Maps listing, they didnt look like crooks.Boy am I glad I went there!Bruce put my car on his alignment machine, and discovered the camber was fine (what were Tires Plus thinking?). Caster was off, but was off evenly on both sides so it didnt need adjusted. Toe was off, so he fixed that. He did my brakes, and discovered the front rotors were warped and needed replaced along with the rear rotors (and Tires Plus *only* wanted to replace the rear rotors?). He told me my tires were junk and I should replace them (its true, they were very worn), and then my car should ride like a dream.A couple of days after getting my brakes and alignment done (I was still thinking about where to go for tires), one of the front calipers started dragging on the rotor. I stopped by Livery Stable the same day and talked to Bruce. (Incidentally, while I was waiting for him to get off the phone, I heard him talking to a guy whose engine needed replaced. Bruce had already spent two days working on it and he wasnt even going to charge the guy for all that labor. He quoted a very reasonable price for the engine replacement. I was impressed.) We set up an appointment to get my car in the next day, and I told him that I wanted him to do my tires as well (I like supporting local business instead of putting more money in Walmarts bank account, plus Bruce said hed fix flats and rotate my tires for free if I got my tires from him), and have him take a look at a leaky power steering hose. Not a problem. The next day, I had new tires, Bruce replaced the dragging caliper and didnt charge me (thats well over $150 right there!), and the power steering hose, which I thought might need replaced, was actually ok and they just replaced the clamp.Turns out Bruce was right: my car now rides like a dream!All in all, I spent a little bit more than $1200 at Livery Stable, but I got a heck of a lot more for my money (alignment fixed, new brake pads and rotors, new caliper, new tires, oil change, repaired a leaky power steering hose), and MUCH better and trustworthy service, than I wouldve gotten at Tires Plus. Given this experience, Im never taking my car anywhere else. Its such a relief to have found a trustworthy, honest, and quality repair shop for my vehicle (and any future vehicles that I may own).If you need work done on your car, go see Bruce at The Livery Stable. Seriously, you wont regret it!
