I was visiting OKC and this place definitely throws an authentic Latin mix into brunch food and drinks. The food is flavorful and the portions are pretty generous. Some of the best drinks Iβve ever had from the espresso to the mixed drink cocktails. Expect a wait because it is absolutely worth it.
If youre looking for some amazing Latin American food, Oklahoma City is the place to go, besides Latin America obviously. If you live in Latin America, I wouldnt suggest visiting Oklahoma City just to try their Latin American food. Anyways, when I went to Oklahoma City I wasnt expecting to find a Latin American restaurant that Id love. In fact, I wasnt expecting to find any Latin American restaurants. I was expecting bbq and onion fried burgers. I guess things tend to show up when youre not looking for them, kind of like love. This place taught me to not look for things I want to find, in hopes that Ill find them. So the next time I lose my phone Im not going to try and find it. Im not going to ask anyone to call it or help me look. The less I try the more likely it will show up. Thank you Cafe Kacao for giving me delicious food and teaching me an invaluable lesson.
Not only was my 1st experience here memorable and enjoyable but I got to meet Mama Veronika the chef and owner hereself! I ordered the oatmilk latte and french toast! My favorite was the Jamaica because it is sparkling and the flavors were so intense with cinnamon and apples. I will make this a regular stop!
We ate a delious brunch here not long ago. We were a large group. Jesus, our server, was amazing. He was quick, constantly checking on us, filling our coffee cups and he gave us a number of fantastic appetizer suggestions. The Papusas were out of this world as were all our Latin themed meals. The restaurant atmosphere was super warm and friendly. The Cafe Kacao has an extensive beverage and food menu. We definately will come back next time we come to visit family in Oklahoma City. Thanks so much Cafe Kacoa.
Simply some of the best food you will ever eat. Stellar. Coffee is perfect. Worth the wait. Exceedingly well managed. Thereβs a reason itβs so good-dive in and enjoy.
There was nothing here that was not delicious!Guatemalan inspired food with a butt-load of latte/espresso choices. I came to OK from TX to visit my husbands family and my in laws recommended the place. What is the one restaurant i NEEDED to visit while here again? This one.I donβt recall what i ate last time but here are some photos, everything was delicious, nothing needed anything ;)Going back, will be there in 20mins!!. I wanted to check out Cafe Antigua bc i was reading they are similar without the wait, but i just couldnt take the risk being here only for the weekend.
Maybe my new favorite place to eat period. Now I know why the wait list was 3 hours long. I cant tell you how many time my whole family would take a bite and just pause. Just roll your eyes and enjoy the moment. We were all sharing you gotta try this! Over and over. The churros was so incredible we got a second order to go. The eggs bendicts with friend so good and the side of fruit drizzled with some kind of magic. I dont care for fruit with my food but this was the exception. It was so good my daughter picked up food 2 days later for us.
The food here is amazing. Ive never had a bad meal. The portions are large enough to fill me up. Being a fatty, thats not always easy to do.
Food and Waiter was awesome. The ladies that were sitting us, now so much. When we walked in we got ignored. Waiter had great suggestions, for first time visitors. This place is almost always packed, pretty small dining area. Coffee was delicious, I just drink mine black. We ordered and food came out quickly, coffee cup never ran out, always a plus. My wife drank Horchata it was delicious also. Wife ate Pupusas Breakfast and I ordered the Cobanero Omelet. We shared the Wild Berry Pancake that was delicious for sure.
Everything we had from here was delicious and authentic. We (party of 5) loved the pupusas appetizer with the green salsa. My husband ordered the Tikal and the flank steak was large. He didnβt even eat it all and he is a big guy. But the steak was delicious.I ordered the Tecpan and it was so good. The portion was large and I only ate half. The scrambled eggs with longaniza seemed like it had six scrambled eggs. Two people can share the Tecpan. The fried plantains were delicious with its sweetness coming from the fruit itself. The corn tortillas were homemade and just amazing. The white chocolate mocha latte was just perfect in sweetness. Our waiter was nice and we enjoyed speaking to him in English and Spanish because we loved his accent. He recommended the dishes we ordered and we loved them all!Oh, the restrooms are super clean but there are only two restrooms for the whole place.Definitely visit this place.
This is truly one of the best brunch places Ive ever been to. Everything on the menu is so unique, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. If youre looking for an authentic Guatemalan brunch experience, this is the place to go. The staff is so friendly and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Use the Yelp app to get in line virtually because this place is always super popular!
It was a lively, and intimate brunch spot. The food is not your typical brunch faire, but it is delicious all the same. Give it a try if you are looking for something different!
We ate here two days in a row for breakfast, both of the two mornings we spent in OKC. Simply smitten with this place: the coffee, the underberg mocha (because really, thatβs its own category), the pupusas breakfast, the chilaquiles adobados, the French toast. Everything was amazing.Service was wonderful to boot! Jim is a treasure!
Okay.... didnt know what to expect. Went there to meet people for breakfast. Jim our server was very attentive and professional. Despite being a breakfast traditionalist, the food impressed me. The amount of food was amazing and the food tasted wonderful.Prices were fair. Apparently the place is famous.I would go back and recommend it to others.Good Job
Iβve been coming to Kacao since the very beginning, before they became popular and famous. The food is still delicious, but every time I come, they have jacked up the prices. The price increases for the food go to fund their continuous changes in interior design and cosmetics. One thing to know about Kacao, the owner is always changing everythingβand passes down the costs to us! I was really disappointed in my meal today: the crispy motuleΓ±o was always one of my favorites on the menu, and theyβve completely changed it so itβs not the same anymore. Itβs not nearly as good as it once was. The reason for the change? Presentation. Itβs all about presentation and appearances for the owner. Thatβs what you pay for when coming here. It does make a good impression to new customers and in food magazines, but itβs all superficial. I will start going to Cafe Antigua where the food is just as good as Kacao, but itβs less expensive, and thereβs a much shorter wait time.
Amazing experience every single time. I been coming here for years. My whole family really enjoys eating here, my husband favorite take home dish for the next day is the French toast, they are just perfect. I love, love the carne asada dish but everything I have tried here is just amazing. Super delicious π
Delicious Food, Extremely Long WaitChecked out this restaurant for their weekend brunch at the recommendation of several locals. Needless to say, the food did not disappoint. My favorite dish was their mixed fruit bowl (berries) in mango sauce. The servings were quite generous with ample food to share amongst the dining party. The negatives were a very long wait and some of the menu items were not available. We knew there would be a long wait and signed up for a time slot. However we werent seated until almost an hour past our original projected time. This made our wait nearly 2 hours long. The excuses we received was that it is harder to seat two people. In addition to being told by staff our wait time would be another 5 minutes here, another 5 there totalling up to an hour. Once we were seated we attempted to place our orders but were told a few of the items (beverages/food) were not available and to make a new selection.Overall, the food was delicious but I dont think we will make the 2+ hour wait again, even with reservation registration.
The hype is true. Every bite is delicious and unlike food available elsewhere. Delightful staff are happy to describe unfamiliar items. The coffees and teas are exceptional. There is definitely a wait and limited parking, but it was worth the wait. Unfortunately we had to contend with several flies that hung around our seat near a window. It happens but it detracted from a near perfect experience.
Me gusto todo! Blueberry pancakes were delish. Large portions, you can easily share.
There food is really good. But there coffee is EXELENTE. Great service.
The food was very good, but Im giving it this amount of stars because they took more money from me that should be made aware to others. I left a good gratuity tip, but when I saw the charge on my card I noticed the tip was significantly higher than what I gave. So be careful leaving a tip on your card and pay with cash instead. Very disappointed in the staff to do this
Get here EARLY for breakfast, because the tables fill up fast after 7:00. It is an extremely popular restaurant - if you show up late, you will be waiting. The food here is very good - I have not had dinner, but breakfast comes with generous portions. There are non-Latin foods on the menu for anybody in your group who is looking for something more traditional American - the pancakes are delicious and as big as hubcaps if you are so inclined. The wait staff is friendly. Parking can be an issue - it frequently spills over into the neighborhood, so as I said, arrive early.Recommend to: tourists looking for local, non-chain-restaurant cuisine, fans of Latin foods, breakfast fiends
Sadly after years of excellent service and food, I can no longer support this family owned business. After bringing me the wrong order of pancakes my waiter said there was nothing the manager or kitchen could do. I asked for the correct toppings to try and remedy the mess I was brought and she agreed. Unfortunately when the bill came, I was charged for the wrong order and the tiny cup of sauce I was brought. We ended up paying over $50 for a disaster of a meal.
The food was really really good. I didnt like how long the wait is on Saturday for brunch. If I come back, Id probably come back during the week.
Absolutely if you like good coffee or tea you have to order a drink! The drinks here are amazing and well done. Expect a wait but it is welllll worth the wait so just set aside the time. The savory food is well cooked and delicious and the sweet food is amazing and well done, so thereβs something for everyone
Incredibly expensive was my impression upon leaving. The place should be gold plated with the prices they were charging. Its difficult to understand why someone would want to pay so much for what should be $15-$20 for two people. Ticket was $50 before tip.You got me once, but wont happen again.
The food and drinks here are wonderful, I just wish it was a little more affordable. The portions are large, they have great vegetarian and gluten free options. We really enjoyed the fruit with mango sauce, and their chai latte was super yummy!!
The food is fantastic, we had breakfast cilantro burrito and burrito rancheros. We were told by family members that if you dont get there early and wait for them to open you may be waiting in line for 2 hours or more. It was a great experience and we enjoyed our visit with family and also had a fantastic breakfast.
Went to Cafe Kacao on Saturday Nov. 2. It was super busy as I expected but our wait was not too bad since we got in line through the Yelp app which is pretty cool BTW! I CANNOT say anything bad about this place, the food was AMAZING! Their chai tea latte was very good, I ordered the friends with Benedict and it was delicious! Very well seasoned and just full of flavor. You could definitely tell the cooks enjoyed their jobs and were good at what they did. Now, the french toast ABSOLUTELY exceeded my expectations!!!! Delicious is an understatement, they were phenomenal! My friends and I ordered the french toast as a desert and amongst the three of it was a struggle to finish but we couldnt leave a bite behind. I cant get over how good they were. The staff was great, our server attended us very well and was knowledgeable about the menu. Two thumbs up for this place!ππΌππΌ
We each started with a abuelita latte. It was served with a small waffle and great latte art. The coffee is wonderful and not to be passed. So my wife and I shared the paisa breakfast. OMG! How did I not know of this place! It was so appetizing that we dug in before the pictures! The paisas were fluffy corn pockets filled with cheesy porky goodness. They were perfect. One thing I noticed is you get the sense everything is made in house. What a great breakfast spot, we loved it!!
Delicious food! I was visiting friends who took me to this clearly very, very popular brunch location and it was absolutely worth the wait. Make reservations and be prepared to wait around a bit. They have some interesting coffee beverages that my husband and friends seemed to really enjoy (Im a tea drinker, but loved their juices). The food choices were unique and everyone seemed to really enjoy what they ordered. I would definitely go back.
Food is always so delicious and fast! Fresh ingredients and delicious drinks, coffee or alcohol based you cant go wrong. Always a wait because its that good. I just go alone and sit at the bar, also the best waiter serves bar service.
This place is phenomenal. Easy Top 3 favorite breakfast in okc. Sooooooo good. Get a unique custom espresso and try the French toast. Its light and flaky and crunchy. Dont sleep on it. Gem!
AMAZING breakfast!! We are so happy we stopped here to eat, it has been the best meal and service we have had in a while. The Breakfast Cilantro burrito with chorizo was delicious! Highly recommend...you wont be disappointed. My kids joked that we would move to Oklahoma from Michigan just to be able to eat here!
YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT ME KACAO!!! Oh me oh my this place is to die for. I have never tried something I donβt like. The pancakes are one of a kind and so filling. The coffee is strong and delicious (and constantly being refilled #greatservice). I bring all my out of town friends here and suggest you do the same! But be prepared for a wait.
The food was superb, coffee was great, and service was prompt.
Excellent, efficient service and delicious food. Some of the best coffee in the world. Their meals are unique, but can be on the spicy side. Large portions. Can be crowded, but it is well worth the wait.
The brunch was excellent, the servers and manager were professional, welcoming, and accomodating. The food was incredible and hard to describe the mixture of flavors in all the dishes. Even the fruit had a special Mango sauce drizzled over it. Very casual but wonderful.
As a former OKC resident I knew Cafe Kacao was delicious. When I ended up back in OKC I had to go. It was even better then I remembered!! I had a great recommendation for the Cuban Burrito from our wonderful server Tyler S.. Not only was the food great but it was also a generous serving size (the picture is only half of the burrito).
One of my new fav brunch spots now! Will visit again!Be warned, this place is very busy during lunch and for good reason. The food was so good! Also it was a bit warm inside. Not sure if it was because the air conditioning was broken or there were just so many people, but I didnt care because the food made me forget about it.They had a nice variety of Latin cuisine and drinks. The meat was seasoned so well and all my sauces and creams (savory and sweet) were house made. Also the French toast and pancakes were some of the best Ive had. On top of that, they get extra kudos for presentation.
The food was delicious. From the tostadas to the french toast. And the coffee was great as well!
I got some coffee anf breakfast to go on my way out of OKC and overall it was delicious. I ordered the Potatoes and Chorizo as well as an Horchata Latte. My food was ready for pickup in about 15min. and the staff inside were friendly and helpful. The chorizo and potatoes were amazing! They were incredibly flavorful and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. The salsa verde that is came with was a wonderful tangy addition. However. I was really disappointed in the horchata latte. It was good coffee, however it just tasted like a plain vanilla latte to me. I didnt get any hints of cinnamon or horchata. I will definitely be headed back next time Im in OKC to try the dine-in experience.
Food delicious every time I eat there. mmmm mmmm good.
We had breakfast here today and we order wild berry pancakes and Cuba omelet. The food it was delicious and the people very friendly. The only thing I didnt like is the flies flying around the tables and food. I wish they do something about it.
Wow. I have legitimately been looking forward to leaving this review. This was our favorite brunch of all time. We sent pictures to family and friends back home. We havenβt stopped taking about it since. We ate the Cuban Omlette and the Tikal. The food portions are INCREDIBLE. So much food. We are certainly foodies, and we could not stop raving about this food. We also got the mimosa with grapefruit and it was the perfect balance! The service was also 7/5 stars. From the moment we arrived, the staff was introducing themselves. At first, we thought we were being hurried to make a decision, but we quickly realized that our waiter was so excited about the food and loved his job so much, that he just wanted to hangout with us and tell us about every food item like he was the creator of it himself. The wait staff was so quick. We had our food in under 10 minutes, and we were being checked on every 2 minutes. We became friends with the coffee barista behind the bar (Kristen) and she was so kind and attentive. We were able to enjoy our date, but also meet some incredible people who had a passion for good food and good coffee. If we didnβt live 12 hours away, weβd be here for brunch multiple times a week.
The food was fantastic and all but I ordered an orange zest mocha and it was literally the best coffee Ive ever had in my entire life. This is one of exactly 3 places in the entirety of Oklahoma that I will miss when I leave.
One of our favorite breakfast spots. Wait staff is always great. Food is amazing. I recommend an order of French toast for the table.
Roslyn was a perfect host and made sure we were well taken care of.
Rarely do I visit a place that completely lives up to the hype. This place deserves all the accolades that it has garnered. Even with this the prices manage to stay reasonable. The trendy vibe and friendly atmosphere make this the place to visit for any brunch. Make a reservation before you turn up otherwise the wait time can be crazy.
This place gets very busy very quick! Get there and enjoy a great meal!
I have never had a bad experience here! Itβs such an amazing place. The service, the food, the atmosphere, all 11/10. If you come during brunch hours on the weekend, make sure you use the No Wait app or you could be waiting upwards of two hours. Even when we went the other weekend the kitchen was backed up and they brought us chips and sauce to tide us over.Back to food, itβs all excellent. My go-to is the migallas con chorizo. Itβs served with fresh fruit thatβs delicious! I love their plantains (I think I just really like plantains and this is the only place I ever get them). One of my favourites is the berry pancakes. They are massive, and we never order them unless we have 3+ people! We like them because they look really sweet but itβs actually not overwhelmingly sweet. All the coffee Iβve had here from the drip to the lattes is great. Again, if you ever chance you NEED to try this place! You wonβt regret it.
We stop by here once a month during our trip to our rental cabins. Love the wait staff, and the food. See you tomorrow
So my Co-Worker gave me the scoop on this amazing spot ! π Props to him because I am a hard woman to please π when it comes to food. The Dinning space is small so Id suggest hop on their wait list on yelp. Its one of those early bird gets the worm. Deals. They offer curb side pick ups and coffee to go. But I like the dine in experience.Anyways we got the Tres Leche Waffles, French Toast, Chilaquiles (Verde) and a berry pancakes. All dishes were amazing. ππ½ thank you chef ! And my waiter was very polite and took amazing care of me and my kids.Next time I would like to try drinks at the bar but thatll be another day when I dont bring the kids. π Other than that this Momma was super satisfied πππ€π½ Great business !
Best brunch Ive had ever! 10.30am on a Monday...and the wait was 35 minutes. That tells you how popular and amazing the food is! Im making plans to go again... putting this at the top of the list of frequent places to eat!
Ive tried several dishes here and all have been fantastic! Service has always been great. Very interesting dishes which have all tasted wonderful.
One of the best places Ive been. Stuff super friendly, Definitely coming back.
Was recommended this place by a friend who lives on the area and it was superb!!
Let me open by merely observing: yes, they put in the plastic partitions, but I would have been so grateful if at this time Cafe Kacao limited seating to half the tables. This is a wildly popular place and they will still make money. As it is now, this is a very small and cramped space. Friend, if you can get out of here without catching the virus, you may be invulnerable,. The above notwithstanding, this is a great restaurant and everyone in the area or visiting should check it out.
Awesome service and always smiling and friendly staff. Everything Ive tried here has been delicious. Great portions for the price also. Huge menu so Im sure theyll have something for everybody. A must try place.
Great experience with great food! I can see why its rated as one of the top 50 restaurants in the US.
The GREATEST breakfast experience of my life!!!
