Nice facility with lots of space. The beautiful girl with dreads was super friendly and helpful. She was also knowledgeable with the questions I asked. Good variety store. A little pricey but great quality. Ill be back when I need more outdoor equipment.

Like another poster my initial email was not answered and I had to call the store to get noticed. I was informed that the boots I purchased online could only be returned for store credit even though they were not discounted anywhere near 50% as stated in their return policy. After a dozen emails I finally understand that their return policy is, Returns on clearance items over 50% off and all closeouts can only be returned for store credit. The stated policy however says closeouts and clearance items over 50% off can only be returned for store credit. I just want my $600 back for boots that dont fit and a poorly worded policy.

A fun store for your outdoor needs. They have a good clearance section. The prices are fair for the great quality clotting and shoes they sale. If you are looking for cheap stuff thats falls apart you are at the wrong store.

Dallin was a great sales representative, took time to give me a detailed explanation of his choices for backpacking gear. He was very informative and enthusiastic in explaining what he liked about the gear he was recommending. I appreciated his honest input and suggestions.

I am updating my original review. Be aware when you buy a clearance item that you will not be able to return it, no matter what. Even if it is defective. It took me 6 emails to finally get a response (you cant return anything without permision from one guy who does not return emails). I did return the jacket with a faulty zipper and the sleeves way too long, and was told that there is nothing wrong with it, I was being ridiculous, and other insulting comments. SHOP ELSEWHERE. REI will accept any return for up to one year, and would never insult anyone.

Every time I go into the GEAR:30 store, I am greeted by kind, considerate and knowledgeable employees. I never feel pressured to buy anything. They carry top-notch clothing and equipment and their prices are fair.

Theres an upcharge to their offerings compared to Amazon and I was a little disappointed by how little they had. On the flip side, it was nice to get to touch the gear that Ive been looking at online.

I drove 2 hours to buy hiking shoes from somewhere with staff who have actual hiking and climbing experience. Dallin helped me find just the right approach-style shoe for my hard-to-fit feet for the exact conditions I was preparing for. I left with the gear I needed and tons of information about shoes for hiking and climbing. Exactly what I wanted.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have nothing but kudos to say about Gear30!I purchased a pair of shoes from them last year. When the shoes arrived, one of them didn’t have an insole. They looked through their warehouse for the insole. When it wasn’t found in the warehouse, they contacted the shoe manufacturer. I had a new insole within a couple of weeks of the receipt of the shoes.Gear30 treated me well and went the distance to make things right!!

I called with a question about a jacket that was not available anywhere around my area for me to see. I was fortunate enough to land on Gear:30 in my web searches, and even more fortunate to find Cody. He spent at least 30 minutes with me, discussing the particular jacket, and others. First time renting from Gear 30, we were happy to find this place with a local feel and personalized service. Our ski rentals were ready upon our arrival. We probably spent 35 minutes in total and we were 5 adults and 2 kids.Don’t remember the girls name that helped us, but she took the time to give us tips and notes about Powdwr Mountain, (since it was our first time skiing there) she showed us the map and was very friendly!The store is clean and well stocked.The return was super easy as well!

GEAR 30 clearly has great products but the AMAZING service is what differentiates the experience. CODY not only sold me snowboard boots, he made sure I understood them from head to toe and helped me understand how to reset my bindings to work with me new boots. I bought a pair of Boa snowboarding boots from here that quit working on me after a couple uses (probably just a rare lemon from the boot manufacturer). While the store didn’t allow me to return the boots outright since I had used them, the owner went out of his way to get a credit from the manufacturer so I could get my money back on a product I wasn’t happy with. He and the other staff I encountered at Gear:30 were nice and helpful throughout the whole process even though I was initially frustrated. Thank you for the effort to provide good customer service.

This is such an awesome shop! 10/10 would recommend. The staff are so knowledgeable and willing to help. They really want you to get the best gear for you and their knowledge and experience is next to none. Chase, Caity, and Jack were particularly helpful in helping me find a ski boot that would work the best for me. Chase spent over an hour helping me through the boot fitting process. I also watched as staff helped other customers and were incredibly kind, patient, and friendly. This shop exemplifies the value added by shopping local. Would recommend to anyone.

The staff at Gear 30 were immensly helpful in turning a rough day into an amazing day of skiing. We rented skis from here and were unable to arrange for an Uber up the mountain to the lifts. After trying multiple avenues to obtain transportation to no avail, one of Gear 30s staff, Peter offered to clock out and drive us up the mountain. Management allowed for Peter to take us up and we had the most amazing day of skiing. This is just one way in which the staff at Gear 30 is committed to customer satisfaction. A fair selection of great and difficult to find items. Staff is fantastic and pleasant. They have mostly high end products but they frequently have great sales and discounts. They also have a rewards program that can save you more.

Place was awesome. Great place to shop for outdoor gear. Everything from backpacking equipment, hiking, running, and biking. Something Ogden has been missing for a long time. They had some top name brand outdoor gear and a large selection. Used to have to drive to Salt Lake City for a store like this. Definitely could replace REI for the Ogden area. If I still lived in that area I would be back to get my outdoor gear.

Just rented some skis. Arrived 6:00 on Thursday. No wait. In and out in 20 minutes. Nice staff. I thought rental price was reasonable. $20 for standard package. $40 for demo.

I have decided to edit a long winded and scathing review that I left a few days ago at the result of an encounter I had at this store, which left me disheartened. For the most part the staff at this location are attentive and friendly. The store does have very expensive and high end items. If there is something I know I need in this realm, I try to purchase it here because I know it supports a local business. However, I had an experience with an employee that left me bummed out. I recently read an article about how some shops like this are edging out people who are trying to get into new sports by having an elitist attitude, and failing to be ambassadors to these sports.I caught a whiff of that attitude from an employee here. I dont believe it is a common occurrence, and it may have been a result of negligence or a response to hearing me say something that has been heard a hundred times. ( I made a comment about the price of some items I was looking at, very expensive but also high end items). I have worked retail before, and I know that it can be frustrating having people ask the same stupid question, or making the same ridiculous comment that everyone else says. But I also believe that it is important to give friendly responses to things that customers say. Which i dont believe was the case in this matter.It is obvious that the employees who were working when I came in were very knowledgeable. The only recommendation that I would relay is for them to be ambassadors to the sports they represent, and remember that a customer may know nothing about the purpose and functionality of the gear.

Ive been in Gear 30 several times and have always received good customer service, but last Thursday I went in looking for a specific item and received extraordinary customer service. They didnt carry what I needed and Olivia and Chase went out of their way to find a store who did carry it. When they couldnt do that either, Olivia found an alternative way to solve my problem. I was so impressed with their out-of-the-box thinking and I just thought management should know. (Thanks so much! Youve earned a loyal customer!!!)

Unbelievable customer service!!! And excellent product selection. Ive researched expedition tents for weeks and Gear:30 is the only Hilleberg supplier in Utah that had the tent I was looking for. I was in Salt Lake, theyre in Ogden. I had a flight to catch and my time window for picking up the tent was short so they let me purchase the tent and a sleeping pad over the phone and Sarah drove it up meeting me to deliver the tent. She even double checked everything in the package to there was no risk of missing pieces for my trip. WAY above and beyond. Ive never heard of that kind of customer service. They were honest, helpful, and more accommodating than I ever imagined. I cant recommend them highly enough.

Want to get into back packing so I stopped by gear 30. I explained Im a novice and just getting into it and they did an excellent job hooking me up. They didnt try to up sell me and actually showed me a less expensive tent that is more in accordance with my skill level and budget. Very knowledgeable about the equipment and are full of recommendations based on personal experience. Ill definitely get the rest of my gear here.

This is a well-stocked store with a high selection of quality goods. It is a great local store, and perfect for quality backpacking gear. Dont look for bargains here.My issue is the staff. They are friendly, but sometimes too friendly. More than once I have felt like a pork roast in a piranha pit! They want to engage you in conversation, even after politely trying to bow out. I understand local stores need to make a profit. But the hard sell tactics have caused me to walk out empty- handed twice now.But if you dont mind tenacity, and need quality advice and gear, this is a great place to go.

Great friendly staff, nice store.Appears to have a good gear selection for camping and climbing other than skiing gear but I wasnt looking at the entire store.January 2019 ski and boot selection was so so. Only a few brands. November 2019 I checked back for new ski boots and asked about current 2020 models. They showed me what they had, mostly Scarpa, I believe. Of the boots they had they had very few sizes.The only Scarpa boot they had in my size was an older model. I asked about the year and specs of the older model but they didnt have info on it.I asked if they would be getting new boots for 2020 and was told they were not sure if or when and just wanted to sell me the old model boot at a discount. Sorry, I wanted new 2020 boots.

I always receive great customer service here. This is one of the few places in Ogden that sells Keens. Its rarely crowded and always well staffed so you can really take your time trying stuff on. Im sure the $17 socks are a required up sell but I love those wool socks.

I walked in for the very first time and was greeted by Dallin and Hunter, super chill guys. They took the time to explain the layout of the shop and how it all goes down. Dallin gave me the run down in regards to fly fishing and I was able to really get a feel for what the shop does. Incredible shop, top quality product and even better employees.

Really great staff. Every time I go in the have been super helpful and knowledgeable about gear, honest about their products, and passionate about the outdoors and the gear to support fun adventures outside.

Love this store and the staff. My husband and I were temporarily relocated to Ogden, UT and rented an apartment close to the store, so we ended up frequenting the place often. The selection of goods is high quality and they had new items come in fairly often. We rented skis and boots from them, which you can’t beat the price on for their rentals, and ended up buying quality ski boots there because of their selection and knowledge. Everyone working there is friendly and super helpful. We (I) were there so often that they got to know us by name and were always seemingly glad to see us. You won’t be disappointed by going.

Glad these guys carry such high quality gear. REI closed out a Topo brand shoe that I couldnt find anywhere else, but GEAR:30 had em. Nice personalized note with my order was a nice touch too.

I had been shopping for some winter shoes and was having a hard time finding my size as I have a wide foot. The sales girl knew exactly what would fit me and matched me up with a great waterproof boot at the upper end of my price range. That was ok with me because the shoe fit like a glove just perfect. No wasted time and great customer service. Nice people.

I am giving 3 stars here because I am mostly disappointed in their return policy. I first would like to mention that the selection is good, prices might be a little high but considering the brands it is somewhat understandable. I do not live in Ogden and after I bought a pair of shorts and tried to return them a less than 2 months later when I had made it back to town for the 1st time since I had purchases garment and wanted to return them in order to purchase something else I shopped for a while and was eventually told that because the 21 day return window had passed by they would not take them. People there are knowledgeable and helpful but policy needs to be revised if they are to compete with their competitors. Thank you

Very helpful staff in helping us get gear for our running in the Bryce 100Update. We need to talk about that $200 Northface GorTex jacket I bought. It saw its first rain storm today and it immediately started leaking through. I would expect more from a $200 jacket.
