This delightful bookstore in Old Oakland has all sorts of treasures. In addition to books, they offer CDs, sheet music, jigsaw puzzles and more. This shop benefits Friends of the Oakland Public Library. People who donate here read the kind of books I want to purchase. Staff is friendly and helpful, and prices are very low. I shop here every week!
Friendly and welcoming staff! Please support your local bookstores.
Not your average neighborhood bookstore. This one is non-profit. Proceeds go to support the Oakland Public Libraries. They accept book donations, so please donate any books youve gotten the use of. I volunteered here in High school, so I imagine they still a number of volunteers on hand, and could use your help too.Theres a good selection of books, and a few bargain book carts out front as well.
Good place to donate high quality books to help the library. Quite a few excellent book finds to take with you. Parking can be a problem and LOCK YOUR CAR!
I love this place! A cozy bookshop in a beautiful vintage storefront in Old Oakland, filled with books, CDs, DVDs & LPs of every genre. The prices are amazing, the variety is impressive (everything is donated by the community & the proceeds support the Oakland Public Librarys special programs)...I rarely leave without a full bag or 2!
A great inexpensive used bookstore. Me and my wife found a lot of treasures here. The clerk was super cool as well. Sadly no Easton Press on hand when I was there. Still lots of great selections though.
Great place for a great cause (donating all proceeds to a public library). Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Very eclectic bookshop in a beautiful Victorian-style building in a beautiful part of Downtown Oakland. They also manage a book donation program.
Bookstores..........people used to buy books in these, and they also used to have many USED bookstores......... Now I buy books either on line or at library book stores, and this is a pretty nice one ---- a good selection of books, very good prices, many books are on sale.... things are clearly labeled and its got that old used book store charm........... also, its in a nice area of Oakland, with shops, cafes, and restaurants.......
I go here all the time. So many great finds and at amazing prices like $2-$5. Lots of pretty new books too
Ive been going here for over 10 years. The book selection varies all the time since they depend on donations. The staff are all volunteers and super nice. Books are really cheap and usually in good condition. All proceedings go towards the public libraries. What more can you ask for?!
Great collection of books at amazing prices. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. Keep in mind that proceeds go to the Oakland Public Library. Buy books and do some good!
Cool, little bookstore in the Old Oakland neighborhood, with all proceeds benefiting the Oakland Public Library system. Great place to pick up something new to read, for a very good price. If you have any good used books, they accept donations here too!
Great selection of books, very friendly people. Only far Stars because their website, their employees, their manager, and the Oakland Public Library, all have different ideas what one can donate there, and how much of it. The very frustrating experience, in spite of the very polite and professional people.
I love books. i love finding good deals on books.i dislike drama with my used books. hence, i will avoid returning to this book store. omg. so, i go in on a random sunday at, like, 2pm. when it comes to checking out, the young lady working decides to start an argument with her co-worker. she literally starts screaming and crying in the middle of the store at her male co-worker, hey! are you mad at me? youve been acting funny all week .... this went on for at least 5 min. before i decided to drop my books and hit the exit door. not one employee stopped to notice the line forming at the register b/c everyone working there suddenly decided to process their drama instead of taking our money. Well played. And this is why we cant have nice things any longer.
Cute place. Dirt cheap books and surprisingly good selection. Adorable staff.
I like book stores, I miss book stores. This store is a gem, they have lots of books coming through this store. They have great selection and youre getting gently used books for half the price, sometimes theres even new books. You really have to dig to find books sometimes, but they do a good job about trying to keep books in alphabetical order and grouped in sections. The staff is very nice here, but dont expect them to know whats on the shelf. Like I said, books turn over here so quickly. Also dont forget to check out the clearance rack outside, books for a buck.
Great small, used bookstore in Oakland. Solid selection of biographies and history books.
One of my favorite used bookstores in the east bay, with occasional hidden gem finds
A great selection of AA recovery related items
Great deals on an amazing collection of books!
One of the best Bay Area sources for quality donated used books, records (lps) and dvds at remarkably low prices. Benefits the Oakland Public Library. Open Sunday til 2pm.
Diverse collection of books, gently used, mostly priced between $1-$6. Accepts donations, all proceeds go to Friends of the Oakland Library. Membership is available.
Great, diverse selection of used books for reasonable prices. The fact that the sales benefit the public library is just the icing on the cake!
Great books and it helps support the library!
Good selection of Oakland Public Library retired books.
They have ALL different types of books
Great place to find books that are hard to find.
Famous store full of treasures.
I love the kids book
Run by a group of friendly volunteers. Go there if you want to be surprised and find the book you werent looking for.
