Have three kids in sports, we buy all of our equipment here. The store is stocked and usually has what we need. Friendly, knowledgeable service, we especially like working with Steve. It’s amazing how much he knows about each sport. He is always patient with our kids and is great with customer service to go out of his way to find equipment, calls when items come into the store we requested. Will definitely continue to do business here. John and Julie Galluzzi
We stop buy for my daughter tennis racquet. And wow I know is used equipment but put some effort and clean things.
I watched the manager Rob throw my equipment into a bin with very little care for condition as I patiently waited for a quote. The young man behind the counter could not explain the written quote to me when I had a question. Needless to say they low balled us on value. Not even a fair wholesale trade-in value. If you are considering overpaying for used equipment and getting next to nothing for your trade-in, come here. I will donate the equipment at my local rink rather than this money grabbing business have it both ways. You lost a re-peat customer today.
Similar experience as those below with poor customer service. The manager was condescending, rude and mocked me. When asked to speak with the owner both the manager and teenage employee just laughed and said he does not visit his stores but can see all that happens on the video. Prior to the recent change in ownership this store was a place to bring your kids to try all that sports has to offer. No more. I am no longer a fan or customer.
My kids love this store and their salesman!!! Thank you for your advice with buying kids skates!!!
Our baby sitter and two of my kids just had the most unpleasant experience with the Manager - R. Blunk - at this store.First experience at this store and what a shame. They had planned to walk out of there with a couple of pairs of roller blades to zoom around on this summer and instead got a lesson in poor customer service and how adults can lie and be mean. Very Disappointed. Reading some of the reviews, it is clear this store has a problem and refuses to address it.—below is in response for your Non-apology below—My Kids had no problem with not “roller-blading” around store. In fact, once they were told they couldn’t do that when trying on roller blades they stopped immediately. What they did have a problem with was a manager that refused to assist them, even after they waited patiently.Sounds like you have a problem in the store (read other reviews including throwing bikes in front of cars and yelling at people in the parking lot) and non-apology apologies don’t cut it….).
Bad customer service from the main gentleman at the front desk. Prefer the other PIAS stores for sure. Bad energy from the worker here for sure.
I have been going to Play it Again Sports in Northbrook since my now 11 year old turned 5 and began playing T-Ball, Soccer, Basketball, and Hockey. I also have twin 8 years olds and thanks to Rob Blunk and Steve Daniels expert advice, ive been able to equip them either through hand me downs from their older brother or new and second hand merchandise from Play it Again Northbrook! I always get honest advice and fair pricing on everything Ive ever purchased or resold back to them. In addition, I met the new owner Kevin Mattingly during the pandemic, he has completely transformed the business with great merchandise along with a remodeled look! They now have batting cages where my three sons can demo bats before buying them! I truly appreciate their honesty and expert advice!
Lots of stocked items and the staff was very helpful. I was very glad they were knowledgeable about skis. This location may be the best in the whole state.
Very poor customer service. Will lie straight to your face even when it’s very obvious. If you need something in a pinch, the place is fine, but don’t expect anything more. Also get your skates sharpened here at your own risk.
Rob, the store manager, and steve, the assistant store manager, were most excellent. They help me find the exact right pair of skates, knowing nothing about hockey skates, their expertise and advice was very helpful, reassuring, and ultimately led to a purchase Im happy with.
I witnessed the store manager harass a car parked out front waiting to pick up his child from the marshall arts place next door. The Play It Again manager came running out and yelled at the guy to move his car AND then proceeded to take two of the bikes from in front of their store and threw them in the street in front of this guys car. The guy had to get out of his car and move the bikes so he could pull up to pick up his kid. After witnessing how erratic the store manager acted, I will not step foot in that store.
Horrible customer service from the employee representing this store location he tried lowballing me and offered me 100$ for 20 45lb weight plates not 1 but 20 was the total quantity he offered me only 100$ Ill sell somewhere else I wouldbt recommend selling them any weight equipment
Play it again sports is an Amazing store. My 3 sisters are all hockey players. We found everything we needed for an amazing price. It was 40 dollars less than what we expected. I definitely recommend this store because its an all sports store, Its not just hockey.
Store was very bare and dirty with an employee who was too busy on there. Cell phone too
Rudest Manager guy needs to be fired or go see a therapist Miserable human
Love them. Always try to be super helpful... not really most knowledgeable but they definitely try.
Great place to get any type of gear if you dont want to pay too much. The employees are nice and any time Ive been there theyve always helped me find exactly what I was looking for.
Love this place. Guys are great, friendly and super helpful. The manager is awesome to deal with. Love going here
I just purchased new snowboard stuff for my 12yr old and was very pleased with the service. Staff was polite and helped us pick out the right size board and bindings. We werent rushed and I felt like my business was important which means a lot to me being customer service. Good job guys and thanks for your help.
This is a great place to get a set of hockey gear without breaking the bank. The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable. They even made a small repair to the equipment before we left. I wasnt expecting that!
Came in for a treadmill and got one for a decent price. Alex helped me with it and seemed to know a decent amount about the treadmill itself. They helped me load it into my corolla (not an easy task) and even offered delivery. Overall, a good store for used sporting goods.
I got my ski equipment from here. Mr Mark is a very Nice and Joyous guy. Got a pair of skies And went home And tested the bindings with the ski boots. Unfortunately, the bindings on one were defective în a manner that even the store manager could not figured out how was possible to be hidden like this. Went back the next day and got another pair of skies which I did love the same day on the slopes of Mount Wilmot in Wisconsin.Knowledgeable staff, friendly and a lot of items to choose from. Beats the hell out of Sports Authority at new item prices. The second hand stuff...well is second hand but there are some snowboards amazingly new at dirt cheap prices. Boots too.Overall I brought 3 more friends and nobody complain at all. Were all happy to see that we dont spend thousands of dollars for stuff that get used only few times a year.Thank you Play It Again Sports !
The manager of this store is a total jerk.
Very helpful but can get very busy. Try to go during off times
Very cheap prices👍🏼
Sell your gently used equipment for some cash OR a credit for your kids new stuff, next time.
I really hate leaving bad reviews but Im quite upset. I have 4 sets of skis and boots I need to purchase for next season and decided to call around to the different stores while they still have stock. Most had already packed up their skis but one of them called Northbrook for me and found they hadnt packed them away yet. I called Northbrook right away, two days ago, to confirm they had the sizes I needed. They did, and I then ask if they were on sale (the other stores had mentioned they did big sales before packing their skis away). I was told yes- 40% off. So my kids and I head there yesterday, 30 minutes out of my way. Im shocked to see the prices of a lot of the skis- for instance a *really* beat up older pair with an actual CHUNK missing from part of the ski, priced at $250. But a few looked like they may be worthwhile PROVIDED they were 40% off. Not seeing a 40% off sign though, I go to confirm with the staff. Nope- they dont know what Im talking about, I must have been talking to a ghost over the phone- no $40% off right now. He says they had a 40% off sale a few weeks ago but thats not on anymore. I then asked that he call the store manager to ask if hell honor what I was told over the phone. He calls the store manager, but only to ask if the 40% off is still going on- never bothers to ask my question. He then tells me the most hell give me is 20% off. I tell him no, since I have four sets I need to buy and he says, Oh, if its that much I can do 10% HUH??? So you just went DOWN on the percentage off? Completely apathetic about the staff at that point, I left and wont be back. Only to get home and discover way better selection in way better shape and at WAY better prices online- thank you ebay, facebook marketplace and apps like letgo. So glad I walked out and shocked this place is still in business considering its online competition.
Great service and usually good supply of used gear. Call ahead and see if they have what youre looking for to possibly save a trip!
Huge selection for every sport. The best play it again in the country.
The staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful.
Large selection of gear, but the store and the floor was very cluttered and finding what I was looking for was not easy.
Very nice, helpful staff and impressive inventory.
Not cheap used equipment
