Suby Doctors should be your go to mechanic if you own a Subaru. These guys know what they are doing. They only sell what you need, will never try to rip you off. Quality repairs at good prices. They helped get my old 2003 legacy to 220,000 miles before I sold it and got a 2011 legacy. I got an inspection on the 2011 before I bought it, Mike and his team found a couple of issues and were able to get the dealerships warranty to cover it. This place is a miracle, just an amazing honest business in a world full of vile and scum.

Suby Doctors has excellent quality service for a fraction of the price that you would normally pay at a dealership. Also, they have great customer service! This is THE place to go if you own a Subaru and live in Charleston.

Maybe its just me, but I feel as though the staff tried to piss in my ear and make me think it was raining. I am an ASE master tech and what they told me regarding my vehicle and future vehicles was the opposite of what I and the Subaru dealership I have dealt with before believe to be true. The trust has been lost, I feel like I have been lied to, and I will not be dealing with this shop in the future.

Originally had an appointment scheduled for June 28th. Then I saw that they were moving to West Ashley, so I called and rescheduled the appointment for July 1st. Show up today and was turned away saying that they did not have any appointments and called all customers to inform them. I have no record of them calling me. Do not go here.

Recently bought a used Subaru Baja from the folks over here. Overall had a great experience, staff was friendly and professional, let me take time to thoroughly check it over mechanically. When mentioning I planned to tackle the timing belt service myself the owner took some time to point out some of the finer points of changing the timing belt.Additionally they followed through on a promise to send what maintenance records they had shortly after the sale. If we needed to buy another used Subaru Id have no issue recommending them.

Great to have Suby Doctors as a neighboring business for us at Davidson Machine Shop. Helpful management and the techs know those cars. Looks like a good place to buy a used Subaru as well.

Had to go here for an engine replacement and they did a great job with that, then I went back to get them to inspect the engine to make sure it was running well and everything was fine and they told me my wheel bearings were bad and will go out soon and wanted to charge $400 for it, so I inspected them myself because I do most of my own work to my car and the bearing were fine so prove me wrong but I feel they tried to upcharge me for nothing

I went to Suby Doctors for a second opinion after being told a few things from the dealership that needed to be fixed. They were able to more accurately pin point the issues with my car and charged less for the work. In addition to fixing my main issue, they were able to complete a lot of my 105K & 120K mile maintenance for me! They were pleasant people who were very clear and direct with their communication. Ill certainly be going back to them for all future work with my Forester.

Subydoctors did a major repair of head gasket on my 2003 Legacy. I highly recommend Suby Doctors to any Suby owner looking for quality mechanics. Cant say enough good things about Mike and his team. Next time I need work, Suby Doctors is my 1st choice

What stood out to me on my first visit here was the owner Mike talking to every single customer individually at length about their car. I dont know if he always has the time to do it, but that kind of personal attention really is rare. He genuinely seems to care about every person that walks in the door.

Mike and everyone who work here work so hard. My car was dead for weeks on end and they did everything they could to solve the problem and they did. They are committed, hard-working, and honest. I dont know anything about cars, but when they explain things to me I dont feel patronized or lied to about prices. Theyre straightforward and I appreciate that so much. Sad that I moved away, but I always come here on my visits home to get things sorted out.

Best place for Subaru repairs. The owners love what they do and know these cars inside out. Very good prices, you can trust them to be totally fair and honest. I drive from Columbia to get all of my Subaru work done here.

Have been taking my Outback to Suby Doctors for about eight years and have always, always, always been happy with the work. On many occasions Mike has actually talked me out of getting work done. And on the occasions when hes talked me into getting work done Ive known its 1) been necessary and 2) that the results will be top-notch. Ive never had to return for shoddy work. Theyve also been honest about telling me when I should go somewhere else and have provided me with recommendations of other mechanics that are trustworthy and inexpensive. I wish all of my service needs were as easy and high-quality as the ones I have with Suby Doctors.

Edit 02-12-20:Love these people.I called them back up and asked if they still had the under-engine cover. I also explained that I smelled a faint, sweet burning smell occasionally after driving a while. They said they had the cover and to absolutely bring the car back in so they can check out the smell.So I brought it in on very short notice, and less than 24 hours later they had made time to check it out. They said explained that there was nothing to worry about - that it was a minor power steering leak, and to monitor it. But no attempt to upsell me - no unnecessary pressure. Just a caution to watch it, and a reassurance that it had nothing to do with the head gaskets and other original repairs.A courtesy diagnosis and under-engine cover later, I started up the car and there was an odd squealing sound I hadnt heard before. I went back in and asked about it, and apologized because it was about 5 minutes before closing time. Fast forward 20 mins: Travis lowered the car off the rack, helpfully explained the issue in detail (a piece of plastic rubbing against some metal, but now removed). I drove off without paying anything more than the original repairs, and was all the more confident that I had put my trust in the right people!TL/DR: this team is great. Theyll take good care of your Suby and your wallet.Original:I love this team, not because theyre perfect, but because theyve given me ample reason to believe that they are honest and good-hearted.I had my 2001 Forester run through the works here: head gaskets, timing belt, brakes, rotors, ball joints... It was between this job and a new (used) car, and we chose the job instead. They were fair, patient, and transparent in the time leading up to us pulling the trigger, and during the repair process as well. They also gave us some discounts on labor due to the extent of repairs.Downsides:-They initially quoted me a two-day turnaround (which I balked at in the moment), but we didnt end up getting the car back for 8 days (a much more reasonable timeline, but not the one we were given).-I found two loose bolts - one on the radiator and another on the alternator. They seemed mostly nonessential, but it was a little disconcerting.-They took off the under-engine cover and never put it back on, without telling me. Again, some argue its nonessential, but Id rather have road debris hitting that than various exposed hoses, the oilpan, etc.Not the end of the world - theres still no other place Id take my Suby! They are cheaper than a dealer and seem to know just as much. And they seem like all-around great people. But theres a little room for improvement on the detail/consistency side of things.

If you own a Subaru, this is the single place you should be brining your vehicle to. Very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and timely. They go above and beyond every time. Their prices are incredibly fair, and I cant imagine bringing my vehicle elsewhere.

Mike and Michelle were terrific for me. I was visiting the area and only had a couple of days to fix my car before needing to drive back to NY. They were upfront with me about costs and maintenance issues and had a number of suggestions for me about I could better treat my car without trying to upsell me.It made my whole trip less stressful.

Great shop! They are definitely the pros! I even purchased my car from Suby Doctors. LOVE IT, and it runs great!Mike even reminded me that I had a 6 month warranty after a small issue came up with my car. They quickly diagnosed and repaired it within an hour. I am never switching from Subaru!

Always above and beyond. Efficient and fair. Mike saved us over $2000 in repairs quoted by the dealership. On our way out of the door, mechanic stops us with specific maintenance instructions on a new part. If you dont have a Subaru, you should buy one so you can have these trusted mechanics!

Long story short, my daughter bought a used Subaru in Charleston and then moved to TX. The transmission went out and she has been without a car for 4 months. The TX dealership has been unable to correctly diagnose various related problems and fix it. In desperation, she has called Mike. He has correctly diagnosed the problem twice just by talking to her. He has offered advice on warranty issues and how to communicate with the TX dealership and Subaru of America. AMAZING customer service considering weve never spent any money with Suby Dr. I think my next car will be a Subaru so I can take it to them for servicing!!

We have two Subarus and take them both there. The prices are amazing, especially since moving from Washington State where it is much more expensive to have a Subaru serviced. It is very important to take your Subaru to a place who only does Subarus . Other places can miss very important details. They do great work here, never had an issue.

For regular maintenance and the complicated procedures that come with aging...these doctors get it done. So before you do that high priced catalytic converter replacement, take the advice Mike gave me and switch to high test first. I still have that $1000.00 and my 137000 mile outback engine is happy. I called specifically to ask if they charge for a diagnostic because my ac wasnt working, the person on the phone explained to me that they put a dye and run the freon but they dont charge and only charge if they find something wrong and fix the problem. So I took my subaru there and I also had a problem with my windows and was told I needed a master switch. Well I was called back saying I needed a new evaporator core because there was a leak so I told them I would think about and was told my ac would prob work for a few days. Well I went to pick up car and was charged $95 for what they told me was no charge thats why I called in the first place then they said they would credit me that if I got work done there. Well when I left the place my ac never worked at all..nevermind a few days it didnt even work for a minute. I called back and asked if they would credit me if I did the master switch and was told only for the ac repair. I think this place is a rip off and I def would never go back there again. I called other places and was quoted $300 less then what this place was gonna charge...Smh very dissatisfied with this place
