Hands down the most positive auto repair experience Ive had in my over 10 years of living in Charleston. Friendly, efficient, fast, and affordable. I dread auto repairs, but the next time I have one I will not think twice about going back to Charleston Auto Electric and Repair.

The owner and lead technician were highly responsive and proactively communicating with me during diagnostics and repairs. They did a great job identifying a mysterious electrical issue and quickly repaired it to restore use of our vehicle.

I was having a electrical issue with my chevy truck that was driving me crazy gauges windows locks stopped working and something draining the battery. My back-up ride is a 2003 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Stick-shift with which, for reasons of pure fun driving, I refuse to part. But with an older vehicles come recurring issues. Ive had to bring her three times to CHS Auto Electric for various electrical issues. Every single time the service was very friendly and professional ... and the repairs were always perfect, speedy and fairly priced. I once took her in for what Id thought was a complex ignition issue, but they fixed it in 20 minutes for free! I tried handing them a 50 dollar bill, but they refused to accept it. This place definitely reminds me that there are some shops out there with a high degree of integrity! I couldnt recommend this place highly enough!

Charleston Auto Electric and Repair went above and beyond on my vehicle. I had a very obscure problem with my driveshaft that was a touch out of their wheelhouse which resulted in a slightly longer than expected time for my car to be in the shop. Not only were they very apologetic but they actually took the driveshaft to a specialist and had the problem fixed at no additional cost to me. Incredible customer service and I will certainly be back in the future for any other automotive needs. Thanks guys!

So my car stalled after dropping my daughter off at school, and this was literally the only place for me to turn off the road (cannot believe my luck!). But they were not open yet and I knew nothing about them, so I called my usual mechanic then AAA for a tow. John came out shortly after he arrived to the shop and offered for me to come inside and wait out of the cold. He then offered to push my car so it would be easier for the tow truck to get to it. I was so grateful for his kindness and hospitality. Him and his team looked under my hood and was able to give me a quick diagnose of my problem. Long story short I canceled the tow truck, and John and Brandon and the team had me good to go in no time. And the price was extremely reasonable!! Highly recommend Charleston Auto Electric!

Im a DIY guy and i hit a road block when it comes to electrical. I googled these fine gentlemen and saw great reviews and i see why. Got my truck at 1pm with my mess to clean up and had me ready by 11am the next day with my problem fixed. I will definitely be back if i hit another road block.

John and his staff are knowledgeable, polite and punctual. Every other place I called was 2 weeks out before they could even diagnose my weak a/c in my truck. I called John Monday evening, dropped my truck off Tuesday morning when they opened, and picked it up shortly after lunch. Excellent work! I would recommend Chas A&E to anyone in the area. When dealing with Charleston auto electric and repair Brandon was my technician. When I say this is by far the best auto repair shop I have ever had any experience with, I truly mean it. Brandon was very knowledgeable abot my Ford Edge. He Completed my repairs quickly and showed true concern. They will be doing all of my repairs from now on.

Good first impression but it was downhill from there. Ben (owner) has the potential to have a very successful business, however he doesnt prioritize his customers. He is pretty knowledgeable and honest but due to his lack of punctuality, communication, and poor organization he will leave you in front of the shop to sweat, and not care at all. I had to reschedule 4 times before he showed to a single appointment. No phone calls, no email, no text... nothing. He just wouldnt show. He always has an excuse whether it is an issue with his kids (who play in the dirt/grime on the floor of the shop); another job running late; or he needs to grab food. Ben is grown man who conveniently runs his business like a child. He talks of random women he lust for on the job and has beers sitting out in his office. The shop is an absolute disaster sanitary wise. If you value your time, money, or patience take your business elsewhere. Do not pay him until the job is done because he will give half effort and still expect full payment.

John is a knowledgeable expert mechanic .He helped me out in a very difficult situation. This repair shop prices are very reasonable for the level and detail of work provided.I highly recommend this place

I have a 1995 toyota forunner v6 that had an aftermarket fan radiator put on a year ago by a back yard mechanic. This cause alot of problems for me electrical, blown fuses, leaking radiator. On 6-23-2020 I had car towed to Gerald Tires in Mt. Pleasant who I normally deal with and they install a brand new metal radiator. Upon installing radiator they inform me that my fan radiator was not working and I have some electrical issues. They referred me to Charleston Auto Electric & Repair Jonathan Tudor owner. I took my forunner there 6-23-2020 8:30am and they inform me they would give me a call around lunch time to let me know what is wrong and an estimate. Mr. Jonathan Tudor called me and explain to me his recommendation and I agreed. My vehicle was ready 6-25-2020 at 3:00pm. I highly recommend they know what they are doing. No guess work. Work is done right the first time.

Went to find out why my wipers wasnt working properly. Charged 175.00 to check ( 8.50 for a part w/ no name). Said I need a wiper motor(200.00)& a tim(300.00 )used. All I needed was the wiper blade click on the wiper arm properly. RIP OFF DONT GO THERE

Got the door locks fixed on my car for less than $200

I have an early model Isuzu Trooper. I had a bad oil leak coming from the oil cooler. I called around to a bunch of auto mechanic in the area and everyone told me to take it to the Mazda dealer, they dont have the schematics to work on that car. Mike and Brandon had it fixed the same day even after having to get metric hydraulic hoses made for it. A couple months later I had a fusible link burn out. Brandon was able to quickly diagnose and fix the issue. Charleston Auto Electric takes great care of your car, reasonably priced and they have a quick turnaround. Likely the best experience Ive had with any mechanic. Honest, knowledgeable, very efficient. Had two others prior to taking it to CA&E and they stalled for days while my jeep sat broken. All I ended up doing was paying out more money for lame promises. Finally took a chance on Ben and not only had my truck fixed in a day, he brought it back to me when I was unable to come get it. Awesome service. Great people. Would recommend them to anyone. Definitely one of the best local garages in the Chuck.

Car was towed in and the staff were very personable and after a quick diagnosis and simple fix my car was running again. Staff are very knowledgeable. 10/10 would destroy car to visit again.

Went to get my window fixed and now my door would not open. Returned and they said the part was defective. Bought a new part and they changed it for a fee. Left and the same problem, door still won’t open. Returned to get a refund m for what they charged to replace the not defective part and he was upset that I wanted a refund. The problem is not fixed my door still won’t open and I have to pay the dealer to figure out what you did wrong. I explained this to the guy and he kept saying well your window is fixed. He said the door is not opening because of the part they replaced to fix my window. This is not ok. I should not go for one problem and have to pay the dealer to fix a problem I didn’t have prior to going to them. From. Ow on k will take my car to the dealers it costing me more money than if I just went to them for the window issue from the start. $682 window fixed but now I have to spend more money to find why my door will not open.

I almost didnt want to write this review, because this is the kind of shop that will get popular very fast. Brandon (the new owner) worked with me more than any other mechanic has. He told me the risks of my repair (exhaust manifold), the costs of the parts, and then worked out a very fair price. This was really cool because most of the time I have no idea where all my money goes. They stay busy, but instead of keep me waiting Brandon was honest about when to come in for a repair.Besides the fact that they were all very nice, Brandon is also very smart. He has a background in computer hardware, but hes also very clever (came up with a very clever way to remove a rusted stripped bolt).This a very honest, pleasant shop that I would love to come back to.

Brandon just recently took over as owner, and I cant say enough about his customer service. I couldnt get my trucks trailer lights working, so I brought it in. Just after a couple minutes, Brandon introduced himself and took a look without hesitation. He quickly diagnosed the problem and got me all set up! The whole experience was great. Brandon was really personable, and really cared about getting the job done right. I got to talk to him about starting as a new owner, and now hes working with multiple emergency response organizations and dealerships. Hes definitely a guy I trust with any issues with my truck.

I usually use the services of a good backyard mechanic for my cars . However, he doesnt have the tools (or expertise ) for certain complicated repairs. I actually took my car to Crews Chevrolet in North Charleston to fix a very vexing electrical problem. They charged me over $350 and never fixed the problem (I took the car back to them 3 times and they still couldnt fix it & its a Chevy!). I then got the car towed to Charleston auto electric. They fixed the problem in a couple of hours and charged me more than $100 less than the dealership! Charleston auto electric is getting my money from now on!

Dont give this Dishonest proprietor any latitude as he will take full advantage. Get everything in writing in advance. He will take hours diagnostic time to no end, overcharge for shoddy workmanship and than refuse to warranty or provide any service after sale. Moreover, he will cease responding altogether, is a poor communicator throughout the process, and will make myriad excuses when confronted. First impression of his unkempt shop gave me pause, and I should have followed my instinct right out the door.. Signage proclaims under new ownership, presumably as a positive attribute and selling point to develop business. But, treating customers with disrespect and refusing to stand behind service will not lead to repeat business or referrals. Read the candid reviews by many dissatisfied customers, learn from my mistake, be critical and aviod this service provider if at all possible.
