Ive had multiple buying experienced with Charleston Hardware Company, and I can honestly say they make the best reproduction hardware out there. I have a degree in Historic Preservation, and have been an antique hardware enthusiast since I was an elementary school student. They offer complete suites of hardware patterns, and they offer it in in the correct metals for the period.1870s-1890s? It comes in bronze, just like the originals. Everyone else just uses brass and calls it a day. And then they apply garish finishes that arent period correct. The hardware from Charleston Hardware company has the correct highlights/dark recesses.If your home is newer, say 1900-1940, then you get brass as the base metal. And you can get all of the oil rubbed bronzes, antique copper, polished nickel, and polished brass. They have neoclassical, craftsmen, art deco, to satisfy each decade.They have many items in wrought and cast iron as well if you have needs for earlier buildings. They also have porcelain and mineral door knobs and make correct distintions for shank styles for mortise vs rim lock applications.If that wasnt enough, their service is unparalleled. Ive been to the shop, and the owner was there, and spent time talking to my mother and I sharing his story, and answering questions about hardware. It was awesome to see his passion, and how they strive to take products that are already good and make them better. I called because I needed bronze screws for original hardware, and from my phone number, they looked up my account, and emailed me the link to their supplier.This is one of the best hidden gems out there. Youll never find a better value for authentic hardware. And youll never find people who value their customers quite like they do.
