I wish I could give this place zero stars. Their owner Tommy contacted us through eBay asking for a ridiculously steep discount on a Cadillac XLR tail lamp assembly which is very rare and hard to find. We declined multiple low offers from him over the course of 2 months and eventually offered to meet him at $2160 plus shipping. After enabling the Best Offer function on eBay, he submitted payment, then started asking for a lower price again with free shipping included. He also started asking questions about the condition of the item - dirt, scratches, etc - after the sale was already completed! We grew increasingly suspicious and started looking at the online reviews of his business (Apollo Pawn & Gold in Newburgh, NY). Multiple customers described him as a dishonest scam artist who frequently tries to renegotiate terms of transactions and cheats people out of money. We felt extremely uncomfortable with the idea of sending a part that has a value of over $2000 all the way across the country to a person who has a reputation for habitually ripping people off, so we canceled and refunded the transaction. All of his money was returned immediately. After that refund was issued Tommy started relentlessly harassing our employees and leaving us all sorts of false and malicious reviews. Its clear we made the right decision. Im 100% certain he would have opened a claim with his credit card company, kept our tail lamp, and pocketed the money. That wasnt a risk we were willing to take. Please be warned, this is not someone you want to do business with.

Tommy of Apollo Pawn & Gold is a real pro who sincerely cares about his patrons and community alike. He is insightful and willing to take the time to educate people who he encounters with no strings attached. Should I need to utilize a pawn service in the future, I will definitely seek out Tommy at Apollo Pawn & Gold. I know I will be treated fairly with dignity and respect.

Ide like to thank Apollo Pawn & Gold for providing a fair price on my new Milwaukee power tools. Aside from great discounted prices the owner was very helpful and had a fast turn around time to get me the items I needed asap. First things first, in this crazy world we live in today, its hard to find actual CARING people that treat you as the human being you are with TRUE care & concern! This is not your average business! Apollo Pawn & Gold takes that extra step & goes that extra mile to actually HELP you! I had an item(s) that is more geared for a contractor I guess you could say & unfortunately it wasnt something that would be a great fit for their shop but instead of just saying no to me and moving on, a gentleman (and I mean a TRUE gentleman) took the time to message with me back and forth about my product instead of me driving an hour away & wasting time & gas, then when he realized probably not a great fit for sale for him in particular, he didnt just end it at that! He offered for me to send photos via email which I did for him to GO OUT OF HIS WAY & try to see if there was anyone he knew of in the industry my product would appeal to, to sell to on my behalf. He totally didnt need to do this much less even offer to do this to help me out! I am 6 1/2 mos. Pregnant, about to be a single parent, very much down on my luck right now, on my own trying to accumulate all the things to be baby ready soon and just basically needed all the help I could get at this point & even though we couldnt strike a deal right then & there deal, it didnt matter at this point with Apollo Pawn & Gold because the kind soul that he is spoke to me with true care, concern, and compassion taking it to the next step of helping me out out of the goodness of his heart. To say the least an impression has been made and because of this wonderful experience I will spread the word of this shop, most certainly go to them with any and all things I would ever need to sell in future, and even go there to shop in the store one day soon for myself just to support them as they did for me!!! Didnt sell my ring to him because of how much I paid originally but he was honest and told me not to sell it that way because I wasnt in a rush to sell it. Told me to clean it, put it in a jewelry box he gave me free and told me where to advertise it. Definitely recommend Apollo. TY ;)

First, I would like to say that this world is going crazy. With Covid-19 running rampant in our country it has been insane. I am grateful for Tommy. He is one of the few essential small businesses still open. He was suppling me with antibacterial soap, toilet paper, Lysol spray. I have underlying issues and can easily become sick but I am grateful for him that he was able to supply me with these items. He has in place a safe protocol to have one person at a time in the store. He cleans after every person to prevent to spread of the virus. Thank you Tommy for all that you do!

This has got to be the best-run pawn shop Ive ever seen. Tom is the owner, he doesnt have a huge inventory, but the stuff he has is clean and great quality. He also can give you free advice for your business and life, with a bit of Bronx attitude thrown in for free. We could use more businesses like this around here.

I sold them some gold and they gave me a good deal, then came back and bought a 55 tv and he gave me a discount because I sold him gold before. TV works solid and was a good deal. Thanks

At the end of the day Id say honest but not too professional. I showed up at 10 am, posted open time, and the place was stiil closed. Came back 20 minutes later he was opening up and told me he needed 10 minutes to open the safe and register. I waited outside a few minutes and went to wait inside. It was warm and sunny and I figured I could browse a little while he finished up. Got yelled at because he had the cash drawer and safe open. Its 1025...place was supposed to open at 10. The door is unlocked with a lighted open sign on it. It could literally be anyone walking through the door. Hes not wrong to worry about security but then lock your door instead of telling a customer about how youve had to beat people with a bat.So I guess I have to take back the honest part after reading his response. Didnt ask me to wait outside, didnt apologize for being late or tell me anything about his commute. He might also consider that people might not want to stand around in front of his store on Broadway Newburgh with valuables in their pocket.

The most amazing ripoff experience we ever had. He wants double the money back on the loans for any amount of time. We waited an hour for his business to open to get his computer to figure it out. Other pawn brokers mostly offer 22.75 per penny weight whereas he offers six dollars per penny weight and he wants 100% interest on the loans. Others charge 9%. In other words he hits you for ten times for the product / robbery with out a gun. Thrilled that we found other pawn shops to accommodate us.

Found Tom on Craigslist was looking for a Shrink Wrap Gun he had one said it was new went to see it and he was correct, easy excellent transaction. Will definitely buy more things from Tom.

If this place doesnt have its own TV show they sure as hell should. Walked up to a couple of guys on the sidewalk in front of the store drinking espresso and smoking cigars, listening to oldies under an Italian flag - yes in Newburgh and I was waiting for a camera crew to come out. LOL. The big guy who I think is the owner got up and took care of me right away. Really good guy. He explained the value he was giving me on the tools and actually paid me good money for my tools. Better than I thought id get. Great place. Thanks for honesty and the great service.

Merchandise looks good never pawned or purchased anything

I was there yesterday, and the merchant was pleasant, I got more than I was expecting and we had a very good and lengthy conversation, its was a very enjoyable experience

I always try to buy in pawnshops because I like the deals. This is the third time ive used Apollo. This guy is fair and always willing to make a deal with me or at least give me good advise to help me. I forget his name but hes from the Bronx and isnt like any of the other people ive dealt with around here. The first time I tried to sell him my diamond ring and he told me other ways to sell it to get more for it because he could only give me scrap value. It was him being that honest that brought me back because I went to another place close by and they tried to rip me off. The second time I sold him my leaf blower and this time I bought a TV for my bedroom. The guy made me an expresso and answered every question I had about the TV before I bought it. He even told me to come by and talk and have an expresso anytime even if i wasnt doing business with him. A big difference from the attitude and attempted rip offs ive gotten in other pawn shops. Dont go anywhere else.

The owner was very rude and basically told me to leave his shop because he was on the phone while dealing with a customer. Would not go here if your looking to pawn anything other than gold and power equipment. 1/10 if i could rate it that.

They tried to charge me not even half rate for 3 items I brought in which they wanted to give just under $100, I went to pawnshop called loans R us @ 156 116th new york, ny and they gave me $420 so yea this guy is a douch bag and Im shocked hes still in business. Maybe because of all the crack heads he takes stolen goods from in Newburgh. I wonder when was there last audit hmm......btw this was years ago and Im still pissed about it. I could understand a couple dollar but 100s !!! Shows alot well see what happens this years !!
