Dealerships are obviously profit driven so maybe you should learn to use a wrench yourself if you want to avoid OUTRAGEOUS prices for dealership auto repairs. But if you cant or wont, for whatever reason, then these guys are pretty good alternative. The mechanic Juan is a great person and they are pretty good about same day repair.
Traveling from Maine to Florida and 4 hours in had a flat tire. They got us in right away and changed the tire quickly and we were back on the road. Very friendly, funny and prompt. Thank you!!

Well, been to this place twice. Located on North Plank Road in Newburgh NY. If you want an oil change, brakes or tires, theyre pretty good or as good as anywhere else. But when you check in, they dont seem to pay attention to what you want. They dont seem to pay attention if you make an online appointment and explain what it is you want in the comment box on the web page.Now, I specifically indicated I wanted 50/50 synthetic oil. When I came in to pick up the vehicle, they put in the more expensive FULL synthetic.I asked for breaks all around. This is where I made a mistake. I would have settled for the less expensive mid range break pads. But I didnt tell them what I wanted. SO, they threw in the more expensive break pads. They didnt bother to call me to ask what I wanted. Even though they had the vehicle for over 6 hours. They just took it upon themselves to decide for me.Now here is the real kicker. I indicated I wanted a 4 wheel alignment. I went online a few months back to make an appointment to get it done. But they called me the morning I was to bring the vehicle in and told me that the alignment machine wasnt working. As the alignment wasnt too bad, I figured Id put it off and get it done when I needed other service.Well, they claim they did the alignment this time and charged me for it.The vehicle is still out of alignment. So, I bring it back and ask them why I didnt get the alignment report when I came in the week before to pick up the vehicle. Well, turns out the printer on the alignment machine doesnt work and I was told, hasnt for THREE YEARS!I did some research on my own to find out what is required to realign all four wheels. I can now guarantee they didnt bother to look at the specs. So, when I go back, I have a printout on what they need to look for and do to get the alignment right. In effect, Im doing part of their job for them.All in all, the brakes, oil change and alignment (which they botched) cost me $640.00.Not worth what I paid for the service I got. For minor stuff if your in a hurry and live nearby, I guess theyre OK. As long as you tell them EXACTLY what you want. But if you need more technical work? Forgedaboudit. Do some research and find yourself a good mechanic that knows your car. Or, if you can afford it, take it to the dealership. You wont get quality work at this place.Update: Well, I went back to these guys a week after I posted the previous post to see if they could fix the alignment. AFTER I posted this rating, I received a call from MONRO CORPORATE about it. So I go back and I showed them the documents I got off of the internet regarding how to do the alignment and what to look for. The guy at the counter threw it back at me and told me he knows all about what it takes to do the alignment.Well, they put the vehicle back on the alignment machine. Call me back about two hours later and tell me theyre done. I pick up the vehicle and ITS WORSE than it was before. The steering wheel is crooked when I try to steer straight. It pulls to the right even more than before.I call them back to complain. THIS TIME, they tell me they found something wrong. Seems the rear lower control arm is frozen and needs repair. So they couldnt possibly have aligned the vehicle in the fist place. They didnt ask if I wanted them to fix the problem. They just handed me the receipt (no charge) and sent me on my way. Yet they told me that there were no problems when I first went there and that the alignment was fine.Needless to say I called MONRO corporate and got a full refund for the wheel alignment.Last time theyll see me. Ill be staying away from these franchise repair shops from now on.

Called today to get a quote on tires, Ed gave me a few and said I can give you a package if you can get here quick. Got a deal on good tires and an alignment but Id have to wait there, deal done! When we talked about the price at home I wrote it down, Ed you talk so fast the quote you gave me was not the one I was charged. You even said there was a $50 rebate on the tires which you didnt give me either! I will be back soon to verify the charge and get my rebate slip. But, the two guys hustling on cars were working, busy Friday.
I brought my daughters newly bought car there for the once over, check it out, make sure its safe. Ive brought my own car here many times. They discovered some maintenance issues and also tried to align the car 3 times, which is what motivated me to bring it in. They asked me if the car had been in an accident because they couldnt stop it pulling to the right. I went home, got a carfax, and sure enough it had been in an accident. Thank you guys so much. I felt like you cared about my daughter driving this car. You asked questions and answered mine. Will always recommend this shop.

Never. Again.As its on my way home, I decided to try Monro Muffler Brake in Newburgh. I brought my new classic in, for an oil change. While there, I pointed out that the last owner had an oil change from 2015.Several months(and not many miles) later, I was doing a general inspection, prior to garaging the car for the Winter. While under the hood, I saw that the 2015 oil filter was still on the car. I called and explained the situation; we scheduled an appointment to do the oil change right.Upon arriving at the garage, the manager, Ed, had about a million questions for me, all in the vein of, youre full of it and just trying to get a free oil change. It seriously felt like a police interrogation. Ed told the mechanic to make sure he gets to see the oil filter in question, when the oil change is getting done. A million accusing questions and not once did he check to see how many miles the car had acquired since the last oil change. Having a daily driver, two classics and a motorcycle, it was not enough to warrant an oil change.After remaining polite throughout the interrogation and obvious lack of belief, the oil change was finished. I call it an oil change but, Ed seems to enjoy calling it a, pump and dump. Come on, nobody wants to hear that kind of talk, Ed. Anyway, after I sign off on the paperwork, he tells me that the oil change isnt free but, hes being nice and taking off the price of the new filter. STILL asking me a million questions, repeating himself, raising his voice and interrupting me. Why should this be free?!? was his favorite line. You make mistakes, Im sure! Were all human. Yes, I make mistakes and when I do, I own up to them. I dont even know for certain if that IS the same oil filter from before. People dont usually put dates on them.Ed started telling me everything he could find that might be wrong with the car, so I wouldnt think it happened while there and come back, expecting it to be fixed. Im not a lowlife, Ed; I dont act like one, I dont talk like one and I dont dress like one so, why all the suspicion? I stood my ground and finally, while he was going on and on about why the oil change shouldnt be free, I told him that I want to pay him and leave. He continued speaking in an impatient, aggressive tone and wouldnt let me pay and leave. I repeated that I wanted to pay him and leave, several times, myself growing irate as he wouldnt let me do so. Finally, he finishes his latest tirade and tells me that the oil change is free. Apparently, he says the regional bosses give him a very hard time about making right by their mistakes. Blaming it on the bosses is pretty weak. Monro Muffler Brake in Poughkeepsie has NEVER given me any problems(see my review of their shop), which is why I thought Id give this branch a try. Never. Again.

My experience here being a first time customer was horrible! Came in for a basic inspection it took a while which is understandable when you have only two mechanics working on a Monday but the icing on the cake was when I asked the tech that was running the front desk can someone put my license plates on for me being that the car was new and I just received my plates he said strongly $20! Wait $20 ? When I just brought you business and a new customer will be my first and last they just lost a great customer not to add their not customer friendly will look at you walking in and want even say hello.
Very friendly service and they work hard to get you in last minute. The only reason Im not giving full stars is every time I have brought my car here, something else gets broken during repair. To me, that shows carelessness and on multiple occasions I have had to bring my car back to get the broken parts replaced at full price, wasting my time and my money. I realize that owning an older car comes with its fair share of problems, but the amount of money Ive had to dump into it because of lack luster repairs will keep me from bringing my car here again.
I went and got a quote on exhaust part Sunday. He gave me a quote 14 to 1,600 hundred told me the labor was not bad but the part was a lot of money. I called around the auto parts store and the most expensive was$200 5 bolt to 2 gasket on a car lift 1 hour job top. My advice get the second opinion first

Great service! Courteous and friendly employees! Been using this shop for over 10 years. Always feel like the service performed was what was needed. Never felt pressured to buy any service not needed. Have experienced times when I expected major repairs but left with very minor service because I was not taken advantage of. Ed and Chris are awesome and exhibit genuine concern for my vehicles and the safety of me and anyone else riding in my cars. Hours are great and online appointment reservation is so easy to use also. I receive an email or personal call within a few hours confirming my requested appointment.
Me and my friends were upstate for Labor Day weekend. On our way home, one of the tires ripped open on my car. We needed to replace the tire and get a realignment for the car. Thank goodness Monro was open on the holiday. We wouldve been stranded if they didnt help us! Monro provided us with excellent, fast service and kept us informed the entire time. Thank you Monro!

Ed made my expierince so delightful today! Me and my boyfriend stopped in just to get a quote on new tires for my grandmas car. A few hours later, we left with 4 brand new tires that were mounted, balanced, aligned and also was able to get a new N.Y. state inspection and an oil change... all the same day with no appointment for a couple hundred dollars cheaper than what my grandmother was originally quoted some where else!! Ed made it so easy, hassle free and just was so polite, he made it personal and really connected with us which made me feel welcomed and not like just another car up on the lift. They were great, came in around 510 PM and they close at 7:00 PM. They took care of my truck since the back left brake seized. They didn’t have parts on site so the employee personally drove and picked the parts up so I was able to get out of there same day. Handled with excellent care and the management and staff did a great job on the work on my truck. Highly respectable and highly rated. Go there to get taken care of
I use to like this place until I feel they tried to rip me off. I went in for an oil change and asked that a slight noise be checked out. I felt I had a small hole in my exhaust pipe. The man in charge told me it took a stethoscope to locate the noise and gave me a price of $1600 to replace one pipe. I was shocked! Then he told me my car was due for an inspection soon and the pipe would have to be replaced before then. I paid for my oil change and left.Since then, my car was inspected and passed. Nothing was said about any noise coming from my car and I found out there is not one pipe in my exhaust system that cost $500, let alone $1600. I will never go back to Monroe Muffler.
Let me share my most positive experience will you. I went to Monroe Muffler yesterday to have an inspection. Upon pick up I was told I needed a repair. A day later I brought my car in expecting to leave it over night. I received a call less than two hours after dropping the vehicle off saying it was done. The entire atmosphere at the service station is nothing short of exceptional. From the very friendly gentleman at the desk to the quick and competent completion of my car. I would recommend this place very highly. My wife and I intend on going here for all of our automotive needs.
My City inspection was past due, but I was busy in Saturday I could not do it, Sunday Morning I call Louis and he was kind give me appointment, when I was there they was very friendly and my car was done with in short time. Next time I will go there for my Car work and I recommend to visit the place, they have also $19.99 oil change,
Brought my Toyota in for brakes. I had just had the “21 point inspection” done at my dealership and they somehow missed that my brake pads needed changing. As a result, I needed front pads and the rotors. Monro Newburgh gave me a very fair price and my car was made safe right before this season’s first storm. My family is very grateful. So I had an incident a few months ago. I was visiting some friends at college nearby. Happened to get a flat, tried to put the spare on, but the security lug was way over tightened to the point where only the air-drill (not sure what its actually called that they use to remove lugs) could get it off. Managed to make my way over to the Firestone across the street and asked of someone could just quickly pop off the lug (which literally takes 5 seconds) and was refused by the rude, nerdy guy in the front who looks like he never drove a car before (still mad at him, dont mind me). Went over to Monroes, was pleasantly greeted, they took of the lug immediately and I had them patch the tire up, which they finished by the end of the day. It was quality, cheap and timely work. I tried to give the guys a tip for saving my life since I was going to have a 2 hour drive back to PA so I could get back to graduate school... They refused to even take a tip and wishes me a Merry Christmas. All great guys, would go back there even if the prices werent so reasonable.
I recently had to get new brake pads, 2 new tires & inspection which after I paid I went home and did some research because the price seemed high, after doing research I unfortunately noticed I was completely ripped off & if I went somewhere else I would saved about $220. The manager Ed will talk with you and make it seem like he is giving you deals by giving discounts but in reality he is not. When I went to pick up my car they said they couldnt do the inspection because the NY State site was down, which was fine I had no problem bringing it back. A few weeks later I brought my car back for the inspection as well as the oil change & when I picked up my car my oil change stat was not reset and there was no windshield fluid. Everywhere else I have been to get an oil change they have always reset my oil maintenance stat to 100%, add windshield fluid and show me the changed oil. When I called to ask about this, Ed answered the phone and said they charge extra for wind shield fluid and they will leave it up to the customer to reset the oil maintenance stat. I then explained to Ed that other places I have been have always reset my oil stat to 100% & windshield fluid is included. Eds response was well you dont get the customer service you receive here and then hung up the phone on me. Im sorry but what good customer service did you provide for me? Where I usually go to get my oil changed they show me they changed my oil, fill up my windshield wiper fluid & reset my oil maintenance stat to 100% for $15 cheaper. Now that is called GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will NEVER EVER go back here.
I have been with Monro Muffler for years and have always been treated with respect and never taken advantage of like some places. Ed has been my go to guy from the beginning and I have no bad experiences with the staff at all, theyre all great!Service times are not very long and they communicate with you during the process of you being there. I absolutely love the customer service that I get from the crew at this location!
Great experience, Ive been a customer for roughly two and a half years. The staff is very welcoming, any questions you have they do their best in getting the information for you. You know its a good shop when the show you exactly what is wrong with your vehicle!!!! Dont waste you time going anywhere else these guys are the BEST!!!!
While this establishment claims to follow COVID-19 precautions, they do not. I took my car in for an inspection -- this being the second place I tried to get an inspection because the first place I went had unmasked employees. While I was waiting outside, I noticed an unmasked customer was permitted to sit in the waiting area for an extended period. Then, an unmasked employee drove my car out of the garage to a parking space. This was my first and last time here.

They always have the best interest in mind when it come to there customers and their repairs. Ed will always give reminders to certain up coming car repairs, but never push to do more than what is necessary at the time of your visit. Chris Pinto, the Service Manager, and the team went above and beyond with helping us! We encountered some car problems while en route to our home in CT and came across them by accident. Even though we arrived close to their closing time, they stayed and got us out of a jam, even though it became past closing time. They never made us feel like a bother, but they genuinely wanted to help! And they did! If only we lived closer, we would definitely return to them again. Meanwhile, we would very highly recommend them!!
I came in today to get a transmission oil flush🤦🏽♀️ I was taken very quickly and the customer service was IMPECCABLE!! Not only do they do the job that was scheduled, but they also check your car for any other problems. The workers are awesome!
Chris and his team were excellent! I came in just as they were closing because I heard a grinding noise coming from my left rear tire. He was patient and kind for taking me in last minute. Even though I had just been to my local dealership in CT that did a full check up of the vehicle, they failed to mention that my break pads were worn. I came in and Chris and his team noted the issue within 5 minutes and took my car in right away. The break pads were worn down so severely that my calipers needed to be replaced as well. They were determined to get me back home safe and sound. Thank you so much! Definitely recommend for emergencies and any regular car needs, prices were excellent too considering the damage needing to be repaired. They worked quickly and efficiently and had be back on the road in no time.

Ive been going to Monro Muffler Brake & Service for over a decade. Ed, the manager, is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Ive never had a poor experience bringing my vehicles to this location. Ed always gives me the repair price BEFORE any work is done. All the work is done right the first time. I see walk-ins all the time asking for an oil change or an inspection. Ed always tries to accommodate them, but this is a busy shop. Call first and make an appointment and you wont have any issues. Great shop!
Came with an issue with my power steering . They were able to diagnose the problem within minutes and gave me an excellent deal on repairs . In and out in less than an hour alongside excellent, friendly service made me a very happy customer 👍🏻👍🏻

This Monroe location is by far the BEST. Top of the chain for many obvious reasons. For example; their amazing prices, I mean getting an oil change is cheaper than my lunch...say what?! And there customer service is excellent, they are such friendly faces and will always remember yours. Their knowledge is also always backed up by experience and has never done me wrong. Overall, I highly recommend this Monroe location. Heck I dont think Ill ever go anywhere else.Side note: Chris, who typically greets at the counter, is one of many great employees at Monroe who can seriously make an oil change seem like fun. He entertains customers who wait and the time goes by so fast! Give the man a raise and an A/C already!
Monroe is the best place to go for oil change. I use to commute to the city to get my oil change but ever since I took my car to Monroe I don’t go anywhere else. BEWARE!! My mother in law came here to get a new exhaust and an overall tune up on her car. Car was running perfectly fine. When she got the car back it kept stalling all of a sudden. She brought it back here again and they told her the engine was blown. How the hell did that happen?? The engine was fine until she brought it here. Do not go here! They lie and they do not own up to their mistakes.

I never write reviews but this time i felt it was necessary to do so. I first went to Firestone across the street because the guard underneath my car was dragging on the road. I told the guy what was wrong and was looking to see if i could get it fixed and he said due to the fact that it was so close to closing time “there was no way” they could fix it even though it is most likely an “easy fix” and he didn’t even look at my car. I opted in making an appointment. As i started driving home i decided to stop at Monro because it was on the way. I said the same thing as I did in Firestone and without any hesitation they told me it was no problem and that they would take a look. Just the fact they were even going to look at my car made it a much more pleasant visit. They fixed it within 10 minutes and I decided that since it was such great service I made an appointment there for the following Saturday. Highly recommend
I always come here whenever I have any issues with my car. They have not let me down so far. Today I brought it in because I had an accident a few days ago and brought it in to fix it. It was an emergency. Brought it in the behind the desk guy was very nice. Heard my story as to what happened and went to work on finding out what needed to be fixed.. Told me what I had to change and how much and if I was gonna let them fix it. I was going to say to yes either way because I know that they do good work and I know I can rely on them. Cause in the past they have helped me a lot. I left my car cause he said it would take 2 days to fix it. I get a call after like a few hours and he tells me that it’s almost ready they’re doing the tire alignment right now. I was very shocked that the car was ready in a day. The car is a daily driver so I needed it for tomorrow to go to work. I could’ve gone to a closer shop but I didn’t feel comfortable having someone else tinkering with my car. So I decided to have it towed here because I have no complaints when it comes to their work. They have great customer service and great outstanding work. I could keep going and talking how awesome they are. Like o said they have helped me out in the past many of times and I always get my oil changes done here. Very reliable and the front desk man is very very nice and explains in detail what needed to be done and will also tell me If o need something done in the future. I give them 5 stars. I will continue to be a customer here.

$40 to handle a screw in a tire is excessive. It included a charge for balancing the tire which they did not discuss with me. Ive had about a half dozen nails or screws in my tires over the years. I wasnt expecting anything for free but this is the first place to charge me and they had my car in there for 45 minutes. Every other place had the car in for 5 minutes. Not sure what they were doing in there, why they needed to balance the tire, and why everyone else felt it was such a small job that they didnt even charge for it but this place felt it was worth $40. The screw was in the center of the tire not even a side wall or anything. Summary: took a long time, provided services not discussed, charged significantly more than anywhere else for a basic service that most places do for next to nothing.
Very friendly and squeezed me into an inspection very last minute. Had a family emergency, explained and they got me in and out right away. 10/10 stars wouldnt do the justice. Recommend for everyone. Thank you Lou.

My wife and I have been using this shop over 10 years. Ed and Chris are excellent as are all the shop staff. They get you in and out quick and let you know of any issues that need to be addressed with no pressure to get the repairs done by them.
Even though i was late for my scheduled appointment they still fit me in same day within that hour and got me out within the next hour. great place to come if you’re new with cars. i always feel good about bringing my car here.
Been coming here for over a year, Everytime has been good quality service. Havent had them try to recommend work that doesnt need to be done like other shops do. Definitely recommend to use them.

I was visiting the Newburgh and Beacon area from New York City yesterday. During my drive up my car started to have a clicking noise. I searched everywhere in the area and Monro was open on a Sunday with the best reviews around. Chris moved my car into the garage and before it even went on the lift he knew exactly what was causing the problem. Can’t speak highly enough of Chris and the shop. Very friendly, and clean! Left my car for service. Had to order parts. Gave me the car back with a check engine light that was not on when I brought it in. They couldnt figure it out and had to take it to the dealer and pay $200 more to get it fixed. Also the dealer said they didnt change the parts I was charged for. Never gonna take my car here again. They are a sham of a shop.
