Came in right at closing so I didn’t get the full experience but this is a very well-stocked store with a great selection of new sealed and used records. Big selections for a bunch of genres including the ever elusive progressive rock category. Bought something out of that section without really thinking about it. It’s my favorite style and the record looked glossy and clean so I thought I’d take the chance. If I lived closer I’d be here very often; I’ll have to settle for a visit once every year or so.

To say Rainbow Records is very well organized would be an understatement. Im always impressed with a great selection of vinyl records. They have records to cover about 95% of an individuals taste. Answering a few questions and they can suggest something you might even know you needed.

Rainbow is my go-to local music store. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I wanted to get my boyfriend some new music to check out for Christmas last year, but I wasnt sure what to get. I spoke with Todd about his likes and dislikes, and he recommended three records. My boyfriend loved all three. That kind of service and experience is rare, and one of the many reasons why they continue to get my business!

Been a long time customer of Rainbow (at their various locations) and Im appreciative of the helpful staff, wide selection, and overall vibe. Well-organized, and though some things are a little pricey, that at times has to do with the rarity of the item, so Im not complaining. (PS. I just scrolled down and read a 1* review that name-checks another fine shop in Newark, but really tried to bash Rainbow. If you read the 1 star review in question, note that the facts listed dont match up logically. Thanks).

An absolute go-to in the Wilmington area. Todd has become a trusted source of musical inspiration. I trust him implicitly to make recommendations, based on my preferences. The shop has a great selection and I have never left with a record I was disappointed with. I 100% recommend Todd and his shop to anyone looking to start or add to their collection. Todd is an absolute aficionado.

I was passing through town and decided to stop in and see what the store had, having heard great things about the selection. Asked about a few titles specifically, and the owner was very terse. We dont have that he said. When asked if there was anywhere else in town that might have it, he claimed they were the only record store in town. A quick google search proved that this was not the case, and despite the guy claiming that they were terrible, Wonderland Records had the titles in question, AND they were amazingly friendly and helpful!

This store is awesome. Has a nice selection, organized, and cleans vinyl, as well!My daughters love to go here and will insist on coming here, even though we live in Elkton. I called recently and inquired to asked if they were open a particular day. I was told they were not, but recommended two local record stores that were nearby and gave positive remarks about the owners by name!Anyone willing to help other businesses of the same genre is a friend of mine.

Every time I go into Rainbow it is a great experience! The owner is awesome and really knowledgeable in all music genres! The staff is great and always ready to help! The selection is large and even if they don’t have something they will always be willing to look and see if they can order it for you! I can’t say enough great things about them! Rainbow Records (as well as Wonderland Records down the road) are 2 of the longest -running, independent small businesses on Main St. and any visits to Newark are not complete without stopping in and supporting these two essential, cultural emporiums. In a market where increasingly homogenized and bland retail offerings abound, RAINBOW RECORDS shines!

I have been a faithful customer to Rainbow Records the first time I walked thru their doors 13 years ago. Under the current ownership the store has remained a great source for music. With its diverse selection of music it has always been a great experience talking with Todd and staff when seeking out familiar or trusting unknown artists that they have introduced me. One of my earliest jobs was working at a record store in the 60s so it’s great to reconnect with such compassionate music lovers.

Great place to purchase records. I don’t always have time to keep up on the newest bands in the genres I love. That’s ok with the folks at rainbow. They have great recommendations and are always friendly. I never feel unwelcome over there. Great spot def recommend heading over. Always deals to be had in the discount bins too.

Rainbow Records is a classic Vinyl LP store with an amazing collection of new and vintage records. Their staff are wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend stopping in if youre in the area to see what new wonderful things they have received!

Probably wont shop here again. A staff member who I believe is the owner was pretty unhelpful and borderline rude. Made me feel brushed off and unwelcome. There are better record stores in the area so I would recommend saving your time and just skipping this shop.

Rainbow records is a vinyl junkies paradise. Customer service is absolutely perfect, they greet you when you come in ask if you need anything and then leave you alone. PERFECT. Then I bombarded the poor woman with 20 questions just before I left and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

Rainbow is an amazing institution in the Delaware community and one my favorite places. The staff are so nice and friendly; they dont swoop in and make you feel pressured to buy anything, but theyre always there if you have questions. They even will special order records for you if you cant find what youre looking for in the store. Periodically, they host live music; they also have an assortment of record playing gear and music-related merch for sale.Rainbow Records is a big supporter of the local community and music scene. Definitely shop here! They do so much for Newark and Delaware as a whole, and its important to support independent record stores in this era of digital everything.

Rainbow is THE record store in New Castle County. I mean, there are other record stores, but Rainbow is THE record store, ya know what I mean? Go here. Pro tip: They give good store credit (or at least they used to, like, 10 years ago when I did The Great CD Cleanout), so bring your CDs, vinyl, and tapes.

Great prices on used discs that are in good shape. Lots if records in stock, some vintage, some new. Hand crafted clothing items, too.

Great selection of music! The staff are super friendly and chill. Prices arent ridiculous like some other stores or eBay.The only downside is the store isnt bigger, and parking is tricky. They also participate in Record Store Day, but they get a ton of people, so show up early!

Rainbow is a genuine Newark classic and their new location is fantastic. While on Main St, the prices and sales were much more convenient. Ever since moving locations, it seems as though the prices have been higher and sales happen less often. $5/1 used CD. I swear it used to be $2/1 used CD. The dollar record bins rarely contain records worth a dollar, and most go up to $5.

This is the best record store in the state. Lots of cool new and used vinyl on hand, along with cassettes and CDs. If they dont have what youre looking for in sick they are happy to order it in for you. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended if youre in the market for some records. Go check them out!

Been shopping here since 1991. Ownership and store locations have changed throughout the years (and in the case of location, changed back again) but the shop is alive and kicking and does a great vinyl business. They stock a ton of new and used vinyl, and constantly get in new stock of both. The current owners (Todd and Miranda) are super cool and supportive of rh local town and music scene. A great indie shop!!

The great little record store. Youll find new record old record cassette and even books and this cool little Second Hand Shop thats next to switch. The staff there is willing to help with questions.

It can be a bit expensive but the stock is usually great. Chances are if youre buying anything, Todd (the guy that usually works there) will know everything about the record and the artist that made it.

Great selection of new and used vinyl with a nice selection of CDs and books. The staff is friendly and there is always something interesting playing. Beware they are down an alley and can be hard to find if you miss their sign.

They recently expanded to add more records! Lots of great finds here and the tunes they usually play are great too.

Small but diverse selection of records that can be a little expensive, but they do have a few $1 bins with some decent LPs. They also carry a huge selection of CDs, and some cassettes. They do have a few record players on sale, with accessories to clean and fix them so that is pretty convenient. Ive gone here many times and will continue to do so.
