This place is great 😊 just as good as when I was younger. The students freshly make the icecream and serve it to the public. There are alot of flavors to choose from. There are even seasonal flavors so watch out for those. Be prepared for the long lines in the summer around 530ish. But dont worry theres both outdoor and indoor lines. The flavors we got today were the cake batter, Delaware river mid pie, All nighter, and plain old strawberry. All flavors did not disappoint. The cake batter had actual real pieces of cake !! The scoops are huge!! I had a waffle cone with 2 scoops and it weighed like a pound. For all the icecream and waffle cones we got it only costs $12. They have plenty of hand sanitizer and Napkins!!! If you are in a hurry or cant decide they offer flights of 4 flavors for $5 or pints / half gallons. They also have custom gallons made to order at advance notice !! Or they have sundae kits to take home!!This place is located right next to the ice rink and in front of the UD pool. Parking is free on the side for 30 min or for U creamery guests only.So come on out and support a local creamery!!
Fantastic ice cream here and its affordable! Long lines in the summer, so expect it, but really worth the wait! Great flavors too!
The best homemade ice cream youll ever have! Great flavors and combinations, creative and delicious! Dont miss the dairy at UD! While youre there, dont forget to pick up some cheese curds and block cheese. They also have freezer pints and quarts to go.
Ok University Of Delaware Creamery!👉Junk in the Tree Trunk👈 is the bomb dot com! What is it?👇Maple Ice Cream with Praline Pecans and a Aaramel swirlThe Buttery Caramel Ribbon was 😋🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Hubby and I both got one. He always picks the good flavors lol.The Maple Ice Cream has a very light flavor. If you like Butter Pecan you will love this!!The Pecans were flavorful and did I mention how buttery the caramel was? lol. There was a line as expected on a beautiful evening. It did move, but hubby and I did use the mobile order as he cant stand to long. The mobile order was fast! Curbside. If you go, it is worth the wait or use the curbside option. We can not wait to go back for another treat!
Always good even if some flavors seem to be getting sweeter. Maybe its me.Very slow service during Covid (isnt it over yet?). Only at the single outside window.Signage suggests online ordering is available but I dont know how that helps. Maybe masked pickup inside? Worth looking in to if your in a hurry.
This was my first time going to the Creamery. There are many flavors available ranging from standard vanilla to a sunny tropical Mango Basil. I chose one that I think was called English Teacake. It was a rich vanilla with plentiful cookie crumbles. Very tasty, will definitely be back.
I recently became a student and decided I might as well try the UDairy Creamery, as Ive heard its good. The prices are pretty reasonable, and I had Claras Jazzberry Brownie -- it was good! Although, I was hoping for soft brownie bits instead of chocolate-coated brownie pieces, but it was tasty nonetheless, and refreshing in a hot day. My sister got the raspberry cheesecake, and holy cow it was amazing! Lots of flavor and the texture of both ice creams was flavorful. Good place overall!
Really good ice cream. Large selection of flavors and options. Friendly but slow service.
They make great ice cream, but they are not so great on providing nutrition facts. Some clients want some kind of tasty treat, but have to guess because the nutrition facts are not plainly published. Why not!?
Went up to their mobil truck in a public park and they wouldnt sell to me because they were there for a private party picnic. Thats like the jerk in the office that stinks the place up with pop corn but doesnt share... bad business practice, sincerely true ice cream lover.
The UD Creamery is consistently excellent. They have both traditional and surprising ice cream flavors, and Ive yet to try one that I dont like.
Great prices and flavors !! Love the story and background behind the business ! maybe just better spoons next time bc was very difficult to eat it but very small detail.
Great ice cream. So many great flavors that you need to keep coming back to try them all.
The All Nighter hits the spot! The whimsical menu can be overwhelming with 20+ flavors even Ube ice cream, its so hard to choose! I couldnt land on 1 flavor so I got a double scoop of the popular All Nighter and Cookie Dough Dynamite. The coffee-based All Nighter was the stand-out with cookie dough, chocolate sandwich cookies, and fudge. Bursting with flavor in every bit! The Cookie Dough Dynamite wasnt as memorable and a bit more bland, I would opt for more of the unique flavors. Hubby enjoyed Mint Chocolate Chip, wish he was a bit more adventurous! The Peach Blueberry Cinnamon was fun to try, but really sweet. Im going to stick with the more classic flavors. The ice cream isnt too sweet and doesnt melt right away. I was able to impressively make it to the bottom of the cone without any ice cream dripping onto my hand. No mess! While the crispy waffle cone added a nice crunch, it was surprisingly sweeter than the ice cream and didnt have that savory sweet pairing with the ice cream that I was hoping for.Avoid the long line outside by putting on a mask and ordering inside! While its a bummer the restrooms arent open to the public, the Porta Potty is surprisingly spacious and pretty clean.Great pit stop off of I-95, only a mile off the interstate. Go glad we stopped here 1/2 way between my parents house in PA and Northern VA. Excited for the next trip up and to grab a scoop of the All Nighter or explore a new flavor!
I got to enjoy the flight of 4 flavors and all were delicious! Wide variety of flavors will leave one making a last minute decision as to which flavor(s) to get.
This place never disappoints. My family loves to come here for some ice cream.
Seriously the best ice cream! So many flavor options. Relaxing outdoor seating, friendly service. Whats not to love?
Great selection of homemade hand dipped ice cream. Something for everyone!
Great delicious flavors and awesome service. Ill be back for more.!!!
Tried for the first time this weekend and it is some of the best ice cream Ive ever had. I highly recommend the First State Cobbler.
Delicious, creative, friendly and fun. Love that students are working here!
Always tastes great. Well run student establishment
Its ok, love the creativity but overall ben and Jerrys is better.
Great place for ice cream!
So many creative flavor options! Best ice cream in this area!
The ice cream is delicious and very fresh and creamy tasting. The UD students that work there are great.
Its some of the best ice cream Ive ever had. I love the wide variety of flavors!
We stop here occasionally in our travels between family in Md and home in Pa. The ice cream is delicious and we enjoy the variety of fun and unique flavors.
Delicious ice cream! My daughter loves vanilla and she said its the best vanilla shes ever had!
Enjoyed raspberry cheesecake ice cream at UDairy Creamery with my daughter-in-law, son, and grandson today!
Great ice cream! Plenty of outdoor seating.
Very good ice cream
Great ice cream and great service.
Best ice cream anywhere...ever.
Great ice cream flavors. Quick service.
Now THIS is a great Ice Cream place! Everything is made with fresh ingredients; heck, the milk comes from the cows in the Universitys Agriculture program. And look at some of their flavors! These are not the choices youd find just anywhere.(Can you tell im a fan?)
The flavors are okay. But some not good. Like the Butter Pecan was too salty.
Always a highlight of our UD visit.
Always great ice cream here
Cant say no to Delaware river mud pie.
Long line cause this is the best ice cream in Newark. But the team kept things moving and the wait wad not bad. Only problem was choosing a flavor. Once served we found abench nearby at Ag Hall and relaxed while indulging ourselves. Highly recommend regular visits.
Great ice cream with just the right amount of sweetness to fat ratio. Made straight from the cows that graze on the farm.
Im not big fun of ice cream but this shop is amazing. In the summer, The shop is always crowded with people and the chairs outside super packed with people. The ice cream made from fresh mike that came from UDEl Farm. It has big parking lot. They serves a lot of flavors. My favorite was chocolate, cookie dough, and mud pie. Highly recommended.
Delicious ice cream. Glad this wasnt here when I was a student or Id have been huge.
Small with a big variety
Loved the flight we got for a great price!
Best ice cream!
My favorite ice cream place. They serve unique flavors created by the students. Mike comes from the backyard of the flagship store. ( UD farm) All the napkins, cups, and spoons are compostable. That is also done at the farm.
Great place friendly service 👍
Definitely delicious 😋
Super rude employees. Not worth the trip. Will never go again. Stay away.
We had ice cream for Sunday morning breakfast :-) I had trick-or-treat flavor and it was delicious!
The Best Ice Cream On The East Coast!!!!! The Service Is Awesome Also! If You Like Ice Cream And Are Lactose Intolerant, This May Work For You. The Ice Cream Is Not Processed Like The In The Grocery Stores.
Excellent ice cream!!!
Their ice cream must be very delicious, but I’ve never tried it before since I’m allergic to dairy. They have dairy free treats, but I always taste a really strong amount of orange zest in it. I start to feel left out when I can’t really enjoy anything from there and all I can do is watch everyone else enjoy their ice cream. It’s not the best place to go if you’re looking for a dairy-free alternative dessert.
High quality ice cream. Very strong flavors and creamy texture. Delaware River Mud Pie is one of the best. Fig Goat About It is really good and unique. The smartest thing to do is to just buy a big tub of it and take it home, you know you want to. Ask about dry ice if you have a long drive to take some home.
Best Ice Cream in town!!! Im not sure what else you need to know... theres a website to order for pickup. So just go eat the ice cream!
The ice cream is delicious... fresh because it is made at the University of Delaware from their own cows. There are so many flavors unusual to common, oh so hard to choose. There are tables outside to enjoy your treat, the inside is small. They do sell different sizes of some of the flavors to take home. A must try.
The best ice cream Ive ever had. The deciding factor in chosing to attend UD as a grad student was that I would work directly across from UDairy. That and the lack of sales tax
Simply OUTSTANDING! The service, the diversity of flavors, the actual ice cream itself... All great!!!!!
This is one of the absolute best home made ice shops Ive been to, and weve been to quite a few. Great selection of eclectic flavors, and many of them changed frequently. Today had tons of toffee, with big toffee chunks, caramel, and malt. Excellent. Had grandmas gone coconuts (also great), and other flavors. Check it out if youre in town.
We stopped here completely spur of the moment after driving back from Maryland, not knowing anything about it or what to expect. We went simply off of the Google rating how close off 95 it is. Im so glad we went! The concept is amazing, having ice cream fresh from cows in the agricultural program, connecting people to whats going on at a university and with animals that are right within the community. But concept alone isnt enough to help a business thrive. The variety of flavors here is amazing!! About 2/3 of the options are completely out of the box, not your run of the mill. And its important to note that each of the five flavors we tried are distinctly different. It doesnt taste at all like theres a base flavor with mix-ins. Each ice cream is truly unique. Theyre dense and rich. And the waffle cones were so good. Theyre made right there and are fresh, so they have a little crunch and a little chew. And I personally wouldnt complain about the price, especially not for the quality and uniqueness. We paid $10 at Ritas last week for two small cones, basic soft serve from a mix, and theres no comparison to $10 at UDairy for two huge waffle cones with fresh ice cream. Definitely will be back!! Even if its out of state.
They are reopened now. best icecream in town .
Great Ive cream. Walk up window is now open
Amazing place!!!! The flavors are so rich and complex, but it tastes sooo good and creamy. They are quite unique. The staff are nice, and we always take home a pint. Once, I had a swim meet at the UD pool and we came after to get ice cream. YUM!!
Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! This is at the top of the list of places to try when anyone visits us in Delaware. Flavors are always delicious and there is a wide range of options.
I love the unique flavors of ice cream and the location !!
Currently attending a special event hosted by Christian Wills. Great talent at a great event! Glad to see UDairy Creamery hosting such a cool event on a rather cold night! And the ice cream was great as always! Thanks again to UDairy Creamery and Christian Wills for putting together such a great and positive event.
It was really good! Very fresh, creamy and tasty, but not that sweet. One scoop is super huge, more than enough for one person. I miss it already! I love the flavors peach green tea and Fig-Goat-a Bout It! made with goat milk.
Very tasty and welcoming. Katie took her time to explain the selections. Some other places make you feel like youre a bother. You wont be disappointed
Awesome, straight-from-the-cow homemade ice cream that you cannot get from grocery store brands! Rich, filling, dense, and flavorful REAL food here. Seasonal flavors as well as everyday favorites. A great place to stop if you are in the Newark, Delaware area.
Best ice cream in Delaware. The line is always long so be prepared to wait and check their hours on their website because they dont update on Google for their seasonal hour changes. Other than that enjoy. Also, take a walk down the road into campus when youre done. See the cows and walk the paths through gardens and trails. Take your ice cream with you.
Delicious ice cream! Friendly staff.
My boyfriend is an all time ice cream lover and he said this was the best ice cream hes ever had. We tried Junk in the Tree Trunk and were not disappointed with being able to taste each flavor on its own but then a perfect blend of them altogether. Waffle cone was beyond good, too. All profit goes to students, which is also great!
Just wanted to update my review from several months ago. After an unfortunate visit (didnt get served b/c the store was closing early), the Moo Crew followed up with some excellent customer service recovery, and gave us some special treatment on our next visit. Much appreciated!! Thank you!! The Delaware First flavor was delicious.
Locally Produced, Farm Fresh, Non-Profit Ice Cream. The UDairy Creamery makes a variety of student developed, student made Ice Cream flavors from the milk of the cows on the UofD Farm. The ice cream is some of the best Ive ever had, the price is reasonable, and all the profits go back into the agricultural programs at the University. The employees are all students or recent grads who are involved with the agricultural programs.Good Cause, Great Product, Good Prices, Wheres the downside?
The ice cream is fresh, creamy and delicious, they usually have 20 flavors including 2 sugarless and 1 nondairy. The mango/ lime sorbet is refreshing and not tart. People flock to this creamery on UD campus day and night.Id love more nondairy flavors maybe even a sugarless nondairy would be wonderful.
Always a smile on the face of whoever is serving us. Fun flavors. Nicely stocked freezer for take-away. Over the years theyve done a fantastic job with making the green area outside welcoming to folks who want to sit and enjoy the treats. The fact that nearly everything they serve the food in is biodegradable - thats awesome.
Good ice cream...no mango basil though...
Definitely worth the money and very high quality. Delicious and the best I’ve had at any creamery. The peanut butter fluffernutter is to die for.
