Got my oil changed here. A few days later I noticed my car was leaking oil via oil stains in my driveway. I called R&M to tell them about it. They told me to bring it in and after assessing the situation told me it would cost $310 to fix the leak and would take them 3 hours of work.I took it home and worked on it with my 16 year old neighbor and we fixed it in 15 minutes. All we had to do was tighten a bolt where the leak was.I’m not a negative person in any way and never want to make accusations that I can’t back up, but it’s just too coincidental that I I’ve never had an oil leak and then days after I get the oil changed a bolt ends up loose on the oil pan.The pictures are the original oil leak; & the second picture is after we cleaned and tightened the bolt and let it sit for 24 hours... no oil leak.

Im glad I found this place they were truly a breath of fresh air. Im new to Delaware and was looking for an reliable and honest mechanic and was glad when I came across them in my neighborhood. They fixed the problem I went for and told me about other problems I already knew about (didnt try to pressure me to fix them now) and had some fixed a couple of them that day but made an appointment for the rest. They are real affordable and very professional. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a real mechanic that gets the job done fast and affordable.

Gave Al a call @R&M to diagnose a problem, he stated that he would have to check it out @the shop? Told him I would be there shortly! Once I arrived the problem was determined to be a bad U joint! Because I dealt with them in he past with some of my other vehicles I said lets look @what days are available for an appointment? As we looked, he made a comment do you want to do it today? I said WHAT! Sure! That U joint replacement was done the same day I came in for a diagnosis! Price was more then fair and I would recommend them to all! Al charged me well less than anywhere else to get brakes, calipers and rotors put on my car and completed the work in just a couple of hours the same day I took it there. Al is very professional. Ive known some mechanics. But only a few were alright. But i just found one that im going to become a regular at. R&M motors. What can i say. The prices were great. The work that was done was top notch. Had a 92 buick with the r-12 system. This shop was the only place who would even touch it let alone convert the whole thing to r-134a. And talk about service. They converted my whole car in almost 6 hours. Never have i ever had mechanical work done that fast before and actually have a high quality to it as well.My only complaint is i didnt find this place before when i needed more work.20/10 would go here againScratch that.Will go here again

I broke down on 95 and had my car towed to R & M. Primary problem was differential which needed to be replaced. Al was professional, competent, honest and responsive. I wish I was local, I would always bring my car here.

Everything was fine until I got the bill. They charged me $365.00 for a battery.

I schedule an appointment here and when i got there they didnt even know and they told me to leave it for the day cause they would at least check it out and see what was wrong with it and they didnt.

I needed and appointment asap so I called on Friday and got am appointment for Saturday 9 am. Brake job was done while I waited. Al showed me the old brakes and what needed to be replaced. I called R&M about brake service for my semi exotic car that most shops are afraid to touch. It was a total brake/rotor replacement set up as most cars on the street already have. I had all the parts necessary for the job and R&M stepped up and did the job successfully without question. They also went the extra mile and pointed out an issue with the noise of the engine that needed attention. They took care of it and now there is NO noise coming from the engine due to a oil change that the dealership Said that they did less than 2800 miles ago. Ive also had a air pressure notification on my car and as a courtesy they filled ALL the tires to the correct PSI and the light went off. These Guys really know what they are doing and they are HONEST and FAIR!!! I highly recommend R&M to anyone in the New Castle County area. Phenomenal job and has my car riding like it was when I drove it off the showroom floor!!!

We purchased a vehicle from CarMax and to our surprise after just a month of use, multiple issues came up. Initially CarMax worked to with us to get the car issues resolved. This past February the car broke down and we were without a vehicle for some time. Our daughters’ friend’s mother referred us of Al at R&M, to which we immediately called.Al took immediate action, looked into the vehicle and ultimately determined a diagnosis of a new engine. He was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. He kept us in the status loop at all times and was very committed to finding solutions and was completely genuine when he discussed updates. I find R&M to be trustworthy, instilling a level of confidence in what they are saying and they handle their service with care.My experience with R&M has been only positive and I feel that I’m in good hands. Al was very helpful. He was willing to use parts I supplied after I wasnt able to complete the job myself at home. Got my Subaru in, fixed, and out with a new axle in under an hour. Wanted cash payment since I supplied the parts, and I was happy to oblige. Reasonable rates and very good service.

I moved down from N. Wilmington about 2 yrs ago. Ive been searching for a place to take care of my car in Newark since then. I knew I needed all new brakes, rotors, rods, struts, etc... I was fearful of being just dollar signs in someones eyes.I never felt that way at R & M. The Cross-threaded My Lug Nut & Then Had The Nerve To Charge Me To Replace It. And They Told Me My Brakes Needed To Be Changed, But When I Took It Somewhere To Get My Brakes Changed They Told Me That My Brakes Were Fine

His prices are fair and he will print out prices and quotes for all the work you need on your vehicle and does not pressure anyone. His work is fast and accurate. I had a number of things done here. Specifically, new brakes and rotors, wheel balancing, transmission and brake fluid flushes, and more. The brakes went bad on me. There was junk mixed in with the brake fluid which caused the calipers to fail. The transmission fluid turned colors. The wheels vibrated on the highway after they balanced them. I told them about the wheels not balanced correctly, but they basically brushed it off and said its normal for your car to vibrate at 70 mph on I-95. The interesting thing is I brought the car to a different place to have the wheels balanced again, and it was very smooth on the highway after that. It seems like most of the work R&M said they did was not done very well or possibly not done at all. Before coming here, I thought this repair shop would be good based on the reviews. I had a bad experience and do not trust this shop with my car. There are plenty of other auto repair shops in Newark that are much better than this place.

What can I say? R & M automotive exceeds the bare minimum. We live in a society where individuals meet the bare minimum through mediocrity. You will NOT find that here! My rotars and breaks were replaced free of charge approximately 3 months after my job was completed due to a manufacturer error! They advised me that my rotors were surprisingly warped. Before I could even ask the typical well its brand new can you replace it, he automatically advised me that he will be replacing both sets free of charge! I am telling you, this company completes all tasks with no stone left unturned. If anyone is hesitant about going to a random mechanic, trust me I was the same way. I read the reviews and decided to just go with it. I NEVER REGRETTED IT AND WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED HERE!!

My battery died out of nowhere on a busy Saturday morning. I called R&M Automotive, and without hesitation I was able to get a new battery within 10 minutes! If you want fast and honest mechanics that dont haggle and give you a fair price, this is the shop of you ! These guys were professional, courteous, had reasonable prices, and didn’t mind taking the time to answer questions and have a friendly chat. Id had an oil pressure alarm going off, but my usual garage could not see me for at least 2 weeks. A buddy of mine recommended R&M, so I gave them a shot. They were really receptive, and serviced my car that same day. They delivered a level of work and customer service that far exceeded my old garage. I will definitely be returning to R&M in the future.

I needed work done on my 10 year old car and was not comfortable with what I had been told at another shop so I spent two weeks shopping prices, places and advice. I took my car to R&M to get an estimate and didnt need to look any further - I had the work done the same day. With a 10 year car, I need a mechanic I can trust and this is the place. I wont get work done any where else.

Came in for a oil change and tire rotation. The mechanic pointed out that one of the bolts for my brakes was missing. I ended up replacing the caliper and was out in little over a hour. A cracked serpentine belt and a leaking boot on my drive axle was also pointed out. Great attention to detail and decent prices.

I found this shop on Groupon while looking for an oil change and keep coming back. They do not try to force you into any other services. They let you know what you need and what services are coming up but without pressure. I highly recommend this auto shop!.

Ive taken my car twice to R&M and each time I feel like I was given a fair deal. They allow me to drop off my car an evening in advance and call, with the price, before doing any work. Its definitely something I appreciate. Was also given a print out of what needed to be done and, when asked, was told whether it was an urgent priority or not. During a recent road trip from Maine to North Carolina, we were stuck in Newark with bad brakes on a Saturday morning. We found Al at R and M Automotive who made time for us right away, and 2 hours later we were back on the road. He even fixed a couple of other problems! Lo and behold, the owner of the shop is an old friend of mine from high school! I called Al right away and in the last few weeks, hes had all of our cars in for service ranging from oil changes, new brakes, tune ups and even patching a tire that had a nail (that we didnt even know about). I called twice prior to arrival and there was no answer. I decided to still check it out because of the oil change deal online. I figured they were just busy. When I drove to the location today at 12:50pm the facility was closed. Online it says they close at 2pm. Very disappointing and the hours should be changed so there’s no false advertisement.

We took her car, a 2009 Volvo S 60, to a mechanic who was reputed to specialize in European and foreign car repair. There were erratic idling, stalling and performance issues. Three visits and three bills later, accumulating to about $1800, the car still wasnt repaired. I found R&M Automotive and told them our problem. The mechanic named Al earnestly said. If we dont fix it, you dont pay. I loved it. He told us to bring the car in the next morning and it was ready by noon the following day. The bill was reasonable with parts and labor explained and accounted for. After one visit and months later the car still runs excellently. I find no fault in R&M Automotive and would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks.

I went to R & M Automotive like a month and a half ago to get my thermostat fixed. These guys are honest, fair, and great at what they do. I will definitely be going back to get future work done on my car. If you need to have work done are your car and you want it to be done correctly and at a fair price this is the place to go.

These guys were great! I was in a bind as I had started to do my rear brakes and ran out of time to get both sides done. They finished up the job for me and the customer service was top notch! Ive taken my car in a few times the last few years for oil changes and most recently for mechanical issues.I gotta say these guys are good people!!! One day last week when I stopped in to set an appointment up to have wheel bearings changed my car wouldnt start up. They came out, took the time to figure out what was wrong and got it running again for me........ NO CHARGE!!!If you want honest, reasonable prices and good customer service bring your vehicle here.On a side note this is my first review Ive ever done on a business and a well deserved one at that!

Well I have to agree with all the reviews on here. I originally came to R & M because of a Group On for an oil change and they were quick, so I went back for another service. Recently I was in an accident and no doubt went there. They were able to fix my car, I was told I might have to wait a day for a part to come in but Mike did his magic and was able to locate the part install everything and have it ready later that day. I was really impressed on the time it took him to fix my car and how much it cost, because I know if I went to the dealer ship or any other well known service station they would have charged me an arm and a leg. I really appreciate everything they did and will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, honest place to have their car repaired.

I live in New Jersey an my sons car broke down in front of a large chain auto shop. He was given a large estimate which included items that I know were just replaced. Found my new place for repairs! Been going to the dealerships for over 10 yrs and they couldnt help me find or fix the problem. I been driving a couple yrs with this noise that i thought was coming from the front wheel. R&M took it for a test drive and told me that it wasnt the front but my rear wheel bearing needed to be replace. Bam now the noise is gone! I came to know R&M auto becaue of a great groupon deal. After dealing with the mechanics, I have to say that I was impressed their good service and the way they treat customers. So when I had a leaky radiator, they were the first one I call. They obviously did a good job replacing my radiator and price was great too!
