Probably my favorite home-style restaurant in NYC. When I moved back to NYC from LA (which admittedly has great Mexican food!) this was still one of the first places I went to.

Authentic Mexican food cooked by authentic grandmas. Family owned and run. The late night workers there are so sweet, made us gringos feel like family. Even brought us fresh queso to cool our mouths when we dared to eat their table chili peppers! You hope places like this never close, cuz they’re the grit, heart and soul of New York City.

Place has been here for years and so small it is easy to miss. Essentially a bodega with Mexican specialty groceries and cooked take out. Authentic and tasty and very affordable. The menu changes day to day with some interesting choices if you want to be adventurous. I would recommend the burritos with chipotle chicken, goat neck or beef tongue. Try it!

Zaragoza is a small Mexican grocery and kitchenZaragoza is an old school joint and has that vibe from NYC from decades ago. the space is fairly narrow. the shelves are packed with Mexican snacks and ingredients. there are a couple of small tables for folks who want to order and eat. there are chilled soft drinks and beers in the back.Zs is a small menu of comfort eats from tacos to flautas to tortas to burritos to nachos to enchiladas and more. the food? solidly good.ordered the two-meat burrito (chicken + al pastor) to go. there’s a variety of meats to fill your burrito with…the burritos are stuffed with beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. the outside of the burrito is covered in sauce. it’s a good size burrito and filling. it was pretty good, though one of the meats were salted a bit too much for me, but overall the burrito was fine. the price: $13 + tip. prices have gone up here, even the one meat burrito is $11 + tip. much like everything in NYC now, food costs will only go up.service is friendly and relaxed.

Best authentic cheap Mexican in the ev! Dank tacos for 3 bucks with rotating list of meats-- classic chipotle chicken and al pastor are always on the menu but Ive also enjoyed well prepared meats such as tongue and goat. Also recommend tacos, tamales, any Mexican thing. 8 bucks for a phat burrito too!

Delicious tacos and burritos in a cosy, family-run Mexican deli. They have different meats each day (written on the chalkboard outside) - my favorite tacos here are chorizo con papas, carnitas and ground beef. Their salsa verde is delicious. They also have a great stock of Mexican imports like Tajin, Takis and more.

Home made Mexican food at rock-bottom prices. The tacos and burritos were a weekly staple for me when I lived in the area.Family owned and run, the staff are polite and generous. For authentic tacos, theres no where else you should be looking in NYC.They also sell Mexican grocery items, so if theres a hard-to-find brand youre looking for, chances are they carry it.Be careful of the hot peppers on the table! They pack a serious punch!

Martinez makes the best burritos in NYC. Delicious flour tortillas, tastefully prepared meat (and intriguing choices -- try goat), and drizzled with unique salsas.Zaragozas is a near literal hole-in-the-wall: its a hallway width packed with Latin American treats in addition to freshly made ingredients. It is the anti Chipotle.Martinez is kind, thankful for your business, and dedicated to serving his customers. Order, take a seat, and pay after.I make a separate trip to eat a goat or chicken burrito when in town (ever since moving). I joined Yelp to leave this review. I gave Martinez a kidney so he could continue his business. (Alright, alright. Just eat here, and be kind.)
