Very unprofessional boss going off at her employees with guest in the store. Did not bother to give recommendations when asked and was very unattentive. Did not make us feel that our visit mattered. I purchased a wine and while walking out said thank you to which she did not even give a head nod or give a response. She was having a full conversation with one of her friends as we got rung up and was telling her employees not to piss her off... awkward & overwhelming experience & will not be coming here again. Boss from hell much... it’s a wine shop... chill.

What a great experience at a wine store. Friendly, knowledgeable people in an inviting midtown location. Amazing selection of wines from all over - domestic and international. Can’t encourage everyone enough to check out 55th St. Wines!!You’ll walk out with some great wines and a great experience.

I work around the corner from this great wine store and they have made my life easier (and drink better!) for years! The people are so knowledgeable and helpful, the deliveries are perfect, and their selection is one of the best in midtown! I don’t shop anywhere else because they always have what I need!!

Friendly, warm, highly professional and super sharp delivery-service. Ive been coming to this store for the past 3 years, since moving into the neighborhood. Shirley and her team are the best in the area. The selections are exceptional and the level of service they offer is incomparable. Every white wine in the store is available chilled. They have some of the rarest Single Malts and Bourbon Whiskeys in the area and the staff all have in depth knowledge of the products sold. Delivery times are impeccable and Ive not once had a delivery that took longer than 10 minutes to arrive. Highly recommended!!!

I have shopped in this store for years and always had a good experience. The shop moved a couple of store fronts down a few years ago and they did a really fantastic job in setting up the new location. They have terrific selection of domestic and international wines as well as a large selection of spirits. I have always found the staff to be friendly and willing to help if I have any questions.

Staff is friendly and willing to help offer suggestions. There’s a quality selection of alcohol with great customer service. They know their product. I gave specs on the type of wine I was after and the recommendation was spot on perfect. Fast delivery too!!

I needed to grab a last minute birthday gift after work and the staff at 55 Wine and Spirits was so helpful! The owner Shirley has such a vast knowledge of everything she carries. She showed me a few options that already came in a nice box to save me time on my way to the party. And I couldnt believe how much better her prices were than those in my neighborhood downtown.Perfect time and money saving experience !

This is a great wine & liquor store! They have an amazing selection of really good quality wine. Its impressive how many varieties of wine, scotch, and other liquor is in here. Each time I go there, I see new selections! The pricing is quite reasonable for Manhattan, they can deliver to your door, and the store itself is very appealing and welcoming. The owner is extremely friendly and is always available to give recommendations. She knows and has tasted every product that is in her store. Ive had only positive experiences when I come here, and I would highly recommend this store to anyone.

Awesome Experience! The lady at the store Shirley, is friendly and very knowledgeable about Wines and Spirits, she helped me pick few wines ( I went there for one and came out with 3). I loved each one of the wines she recommended. They have great selection of wines.She also offered free delivery service and that is a great plus for me. I am definitely going there every time I need Wine and Single Malt. My husband loves Single Malt and this is the place I am going every time. Thanks for the excellent service, I feel this is the best Wine store in town.

Was in from out of town to surprise my uncle and wanted a good bottle of scotch to give him. Im a bit of a novice w/ spirits but the clerk was an absolute doll, asking me several questions and showing me a few things even though the store was busy. This would be my store of choice if I lived up here, highly recommend. Prices good for Midtown too :)

I don’t write reviews that often. But it was the worst liquor store experience of my life. Woman who was in charge of cash register gave us extremely hard time with my ID. Not only she requested my credit card to check my name, she had the audacity to tell me and my friend that she is doing us a favor by selling a drink. Which caused and altercation with another customer who straight up was starting a fight. Instead of calming down the situation she was smirking at us. Before all of this she was talking down on her coworker who wasn’t present. Holiday mood undoubtedly ruined.

I dont leave reviews often, but the woman clerk at this store was just downright rude. She stared at us the whole time, okay fine. But then she gave me a hard time about my very real ID. Comparing my credit card to my name, squinting between myself and my picture. Just over the top. Im young but I certainly dont look like a teenager. It seemed like she gave up trying to disprove me and just sold me the alcohol. What a weird experience.

Great shop in a great location. The owner, Shirley knows her stuff. I like my single malts and she has been on point when it comes to recommending great bottles. I keep coming back for her to suggest me a new brand I should try. Solid selection of scotches and wines too. Convenient location near the LOVE sign in Midtown NYC.

Visited the store severaltimes. They have great selection of wines. Owner even helped me pick a good bottle of wine & also offered free delivery if I place an order over the phone or online which for me is a plus. She has an awesome knowledge of her stuff. I dont know why some people find the owner rude I found her exceptionally pleasant.

This is my neighborhood favorite by far. Great prices, amazing service and inventory, and my highest recommendation. Whether you live here or are staying at any of the great hotels in the neighborhood, dont overpay - go to 55th Street Wine & Spirits.

This is the best wine store that I have found so far in the area. Prices were 15% lower than competitors, service was friendly, and the selection was large and included everything that I personally wanted. Highly recommend if you have to go somewhere in midtown, I have yet to find anywhere in the area with better prices.

I usually never write reviews but the women at the store was extremely. Especially to an asian family. They were lined up in-front of me, and she was just down right very rude. I have never experienced such behaviour.

Great selection of wines. Walked in with no clue what to get for a friends special occasion. Lady at the store had an amazing knowledge of wines and was very keen in assisting. Very pleased. This will be my go to store in future.

This was right across the street from my hotel so I wish it would have been a better place. It was tiny, and the people working there must have all been family judging by the way they argued the whole time I was in there. And they all stared at me the whole time even though they were bickering with each other. I didn’t see any chilled wine so that was a disappointment. It looked like there was a back room but one of the arguing guys was blocking that doorway so I didn’t get to see what was in there. I went to a different liquor store for the rest of my visit. It was worth the walk.

I work a block away from this store, and was a regular for a short period of time. I have NEVER felt so unwelcome, humiliated, and blatantly discriminated against by an establishment in my life. The stock clerk would literally follow me from the door to the cash register and stand there and watch me as I paid the store owner, who was actually very nice. On many occasions, Ive witnessed this clerk standing outside of the store, and customers would come and go as they pleased. The moment I reach the storefront, he would follow me in and leave when I leave. I continued to purchase from this store because the location was very convenient and on my way to the subway. I tried my best to ignore this clerk, until one day I decided that I will never return to this store and spend my hard earned cash to be treated so unfairly again.

I was in the city for the first time about a month ago. I was trying to find a gift for my brother in law and his fiancé for being such gracious host. It being my first time in the city I may of been turned around a little bit. With that being said, Im glad I was because I stumbled across this gem. The customer service was great and the prices were very reasonable. They even helped me with directions back to my brother in laws house. Thank you all very much for the great experience. I will see you again on my next visit to the city.

Amazing cute store with higher end wines and champagnes

Whenever I visit family in the city, 55th street is my go to stop to stock up for vacation. My wife is a wine lover and she only goes to 55th street for their selection! I read a couple negative reviews but completely disagree! The staff is always friendly and helpful! Keep up the great work!!

Great store, friendly staff and amazing selection. Im always in need of help when I go in as I love to try new liquor and there is a lot to try at this store, but the staff are very knowledgeable and I always get something I end up really liking.

Open great hours and wonderful staff

Might have been short staffed the day I was there. The person on the register was answering one call after the other, taking 10 minutes for me to pay for my bottle of wine. Well, at least I was able find the bottle I was looking for.

Im not sure why the other reviews are negative. This store is clean and well-stocked. Her prices are actually lower than other wine and liquor stores in the neighborhood. The owner, Shirley was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great location as well...close to F, N, R and Q trains between 5th and 6th on 55th street. The store also delivers. Check her out and see for yourself.

Great selection and a helpful staff

Unless you enjoy extremely rude treatment when you call asking about their wine selection, I would highly recommend going somewhere else nearby. When I called the store the woman picked up and *apparently* (though it was inaudible and broken English) said Wine & Spirits. When I asked whether they sell wine, she said she believed so. And when I asked for a second time given her suspicious response, she said Well, I picked up the phone and said wine & sprits and you asked me whether I sell wine! in a very rude, condescending tone.Apparently she isnt into new, paying customers. :)

Their prices are 20% high, which is fine for midtown, but be careful. They will also change prices by another 10-20% at the register and will not honor the price they marked.
