Fabulous department store chock full of Asian imported goods. I only wish the tags had English descriptions on them because Im sure Id buy more things. It was very clean and organized very well. They had a cosmetics department and lots of sunscreens, food items, home items, kitchen, cleaning, etc. Its like the Woolworths of Asian goods. Lots of fun trying to figure out what everything was. Have fun!
We browsed the store and bought lots of stuff. Never felt like we were being watched like some of the other reviewers have written. They have an excellent selection of Asian foods, housewares, beauty supplies, and gadgets—many of which Ive never seen in other similar stores. We went back a second time before leaving NYC.
Big Asian cosmetics and more store in K Town! Lots of items I’ve never seen on the west coast stores. Wish I had one local to me. Great selection of beauty products; including those I’ve only seen online. I am a big fan of 北斗の拳 and so is my brother and friend, so I bought them the Raoh face masks.I also haven’t seen the Lovisa brand where I live so I bought my friends the Pokemon and Kirby merch.I will admit, the beauty store next door has cheaper prices for some of the same goods and also has some unique items.
Not wheelchair accessible, at least the time I went there a couple months back. Went again and was able to walk up the stairs case. This location has more variety and options than the location in flushing and not as many people as well.
Interesting place! A Japanese store staffed by young Chinese people, in Koreatown? Yeah, and with a Beyoncé album on the speakers.Lots of womens cosmetics though I noticed nothing for men.A great many packaged foods. I saw nothing fresh, though I didnt explore the whole place. Many, MANY varieties of Pocky and its derivatives by other makers. Also there twas a pretty full lineup of East Asian cooking equipment, as well as sauces, seasonings and oils for cooking. The entrance is ground level, but the store itself is up a double flight of stairs. To opt for the elevator, ask the cashier, who will escort you out the door while calling another staffer. You go back on the street and walk left about 10 steps to a locked glass door. Then the other staffer lets you in and escorts you to the elevator. Its complicated.Nihongo hanashi masen (I cant read Japanese). So I had no idea what many items were. For instance, I wondered if a certain product was toothpaste. It turned out to be hand lotion. Signs above the aisles all say the same thing, so the only way to find something is to ask a staffer, or go exploring.Stores that sell home products designed by designers who have never seen the Western versions, and who therefore occasionally create innovative versions, are definitely worth exploring. Teso is worth exploring.
Super cute and authentic japanese store. Most things are a bit pricey but a lot of things are reasonably priced and even cheap. I got this very cute utensils set for 3.20 and the spoons and forks individually were only 89 cents. A huge array of snacks, and even a talking robot. Very nice place, would recommend.
Really cute Japanese grocery store. I bought this super cute soup mug with a cute spoon and a panda on top. They also have a lot of other Japanese products that are relatively cheap. I had this matcha ice cream with red bean and mochi cup for only $2, and it tasted freaking amazing! Would definitely recommend.
So un love of this store. So many cute things. I love Japanese culture
All the prices are very fair, they are very friendly and they have a lot of snacks. All the stuff is of good quality I love it. Im thinking of making weekly trips when doing my errands.Honestly Ive looked around for marble soda prices and canned soda, and they have the best prices on both.
I absolutely loved it. The cashiers were nice and gretting no matter how much times you came in. The store was well organized and the foods and drinks were amazing, workers there had such an welcoming aroma. 10/10 would go back again.
My wife and I were visiting from Michigan and we went here. Great place for various things Asian. There are Korean almond snacks which are really amazingly good. The brand is HBAF and they have multiple flavors. My wife and I got matcha and honey butter which were great! Definitely will have to find more online (which I already did on Amazon and its very similar priced as the Teso store ~$8)
I love it.It feels like I am in a shop in Japan.Decent prices.Delicious snacks and drinks. The one in Korea Town in Manhattan is the bigger one. I suggest to go to that one 😀
We bought so many snacks here! Oh my goodness! Hahaha will come again! Very nice staff!
Favorite store for Japanese snacks and bath goods, also has a great variety of makeup and skincare.
Very nicely decorated place, staff very friendly and helpful. Great selection of japanese merchandise.
Love it here so cute and clean and always stocked with the best stuff
Really amazing store. Much more selection than the other japanese markets for household thingsHad my FAVORITE brand of laundry detergent in all scents and every accompanying product they make. Had a lot of refill bags for different brands but not the one I wanted, Labon le Linge. PLEASE STOCK THE REFILL BAGS ALSO!
Two stars because it is super cute and has a great selection. Also, only two stars because the workers are not subtle about following you around the entire time you are there and “rearranging” chips. It’s not fooling anyone.
Store was clean and had a good amount of products. I personally dont speak Japanese so it was hard figuring out what things were for the most part - but thats on me!I bought a few items, one of them being the refrigerated milie crepe cake slice (matcha flavor) and it had black mold on the top of it when I opened it. (it was not expired.. So Im not sure what happened). So Im pretty dissapointed about that and will not be purchasing food items from there anymore
Great store! If youre looking for an all japanese store, this is it. They have everything you can imagine, all imported from Japan! Even the snacks! Everything is at a reasonable price, especially the snacks. Super cheap!
Great place for Japanese foods and daily supplies, highly recommended!
This place has everything!! Love going there
Amazing selection, very cute store, but the ppl follow u around
Love love love this place, the store is supwrrr cute, so is the staff, very friendly and they have so many awesome finds, from snacks, drinks to soaps, make up or house hold goods. The stuff is japanese, so u do have to really read labels as to what things are, the prices are amazing.
Amazing place. You can find almost all Asian traditional house supply here!
Really cute store loaded with Japanese goodies
Love it! Re: other reviewers, i also noticed the workers hover. Why? I have no idea. It kind of made me nervous lol.
I enjoyed the visit. The store has two floors. Second floor has household items, facial/hair products, pet items, items for babies, beverages, candy/chips. They have a great variety of products I only wish I knew what was written on the labels. Nonetheless an employee can help you. From what I remember everybody was using masks. Not so sure about the social distancing since it was semi crowded. Overall great experience and will visit again.
So cute! Lots of great japanese candies and some cute cosmetics. Bring a translator app though if you cant read japanese, a lot of products dont have English on their labels
Mixed feeling about this place. We go here often and the cashiers are always friendly; however, the workers upstairs are paranoid AF. I’m walking around with my toddler and I look back to see a worker following and looking at us; this happens every single time we go there. I understand you’re watching out for theft, but come on, don’t make it so obvious that you’re following us aroundAlso, some items are a bit pricey, but it’s NYC, and items look like they’re imported so this is expected
They have a lot of skincare products. The prices are competitive. The price of some stuff is lower than Amazon.
A dazzling array of products!
Love this place. I felt like I was in Tokyo
Super cool place you have to try the Japanese soda pop!
Awesome Japanese grocery with all sorts of skin care products and groceries! They have Shishedo products my wife hasnt found in the US, but only in Japan! Definitely worth a trip!
This place is a treasure. It’s a great place to go for anything I need. Especially some snacks. It’s one of my go-tos.
Beautiful store with unique imported items food and selfcare as well as make up. Really beautiful items. Mostly Japanese.
I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this store—such a hidden gem! An assortment of unique products and treats you can’t find anywhere else in the city. The employees are always super helpful, too.
It’s a store that sells Japanese products that is owned by Chinese. There’s another location at Saint Marks place. There are A lot of varieties here and I can basically find everything I need although they are a little expensive. The only thing I felt uncomfortable was that the staffs were always walking by us back and forth and looking at us every time they pass by ( We think they suspect everyone could be thieves stealing their products), which made us feel annoyed and not being trusted. Please make your customers feel comfortable and trusted when they are visiting and choosing products to buy. I know surveillance is necessary for store operations, but you don’t have to always follow your customers and sneakily peeping at us by pretending that you are constantly walking by....You can look at the cameras closely to watch your customers, instead. And I would never steal anything from your store or from any place, ever! So I don’t wanna feel like I’m treated as a potential thief!
Super meticulously organized, cozy, and charming without being cloy. Biggest selection of Ramune in the city, probably.
They had everything I was looking for in that place. The place is so cute I had a lot of things in hand a lady gave me a basket for the items so kind of her. But there was 1 thing that bothered me, 2 people that worked there in the 2nd floor while I was shopping with my sister they we’re watching us like if we were gonna steal something and I felt really offended and it just felt really uncomfortable being watched while shopping. That’s why security cameras are invented for.
Large variety of cosmetics and snacks that are difficult to find in the US, but the shopping experience was really unpleasant. The employees chased me out of the store and accused me of shoplifting because they saw me holding something but didn’t see when I put it back, and in general they were breathing down my and other customers’ necks as I was walking around
Cool items... but you cant read the packages
Great selection of Asian snacks and Asian cosmetic/beauty products.
Very nice mix of import products. Only downside was the obnoxiously loud music: very authentic in the sense that it really felt like being in a Japanese store, but they could have totally done without.
After reading so many bad reviews, I expected to experience the same. However, on my visit, I had a pleasant experience. Staff were friendly and I did not feel like I was under surveillance at all times.
Wonderful they have everything ❤sweet salty sneak home stuff
Everything there is amazing!!! Unique items and candy. Definitely recommend!
Some fun things to explore, great selection of beauty products and snacks/treats but there are other more fully stocked Asian markets in the city to check out.
Great selections .my daughter enjoyed her self, even pick up a pair training chopsticks😁for me
Its a big store full with a lot of good and affordable items.
Omg a great place hidden in the heart of new York 34st. If you love all thing japanese this is your store. And I recently found out they have other locations in Queens.
Nice clean store. Lots of fun goodies to try
Lots of varied products in all categories from Japan. Aisles are narrow, and people seem to need to bring in their dog strollers. Too few registers, checkout and line is poorly managed, especially during covid.
They have amazing items, and its so cute and most of the convenient things but i felt very uncomfortable when a man who works there (short yellowish blond hair) kept following us to see if im stealing. i get that people have their suspicious but no one is stupid enough to steal. And because of that man, id rather go to another grocery store where they dont surveillance random people. at-least be subtle about it.
Nice variety of japanese stuff
Great place to buy all the little things
Great drinks snack selection from Japan. Lots of cosmetics too. Don’t have to go to Japan nearly as often!
They have lots of cute and interesting finds here. The variety of snacks is unbelievable.
Its affordable and they have a variety of items, but Ive been here a couple of times and have gotten weird looks and been followed around. I even had a large basket handed to me once by a worker even though I was only holding a small spoon in my hand (this was after being stared at a bit by said worker). Guess theyve never seen a brown person before?
Y’all really need to start closing a bit more late. Closing ode early on a Friday for what. At least close at 10pm!!
Teso Life is actually a nice store full of interesting beauty products from Japan. Usually, my family would need to go back home to Japan to buy some of our beauty products, but Teso Life actually has them and the most updated line of products from various brand names, which was an absolute surprise to us. The prices are what you expect for import items from Japan, but if you need products from Japan and dont have the hook up, then this is the place to go hands down. I will only go here for emergencies, but still, it has a great line of items. It only give it four stars, because you just get tired of the workers training they have here, its a typical place where workers are taught to stalk every customer for shoplifting, I know they are protecting themselves, but it gets out of hand because it is too obvious, kind of like standing behind a tree where we obviously see you type of obvious!
Great selection and reasonably priced.
It was really cute and interesting the workers were nice. But it was really crowded.
They had a bit of everything on the store
Rude staff that keeps on following you around. brand is Chinese owned, not Japanese as advertised. beware
This is a very dangerous place to shop! I’m just kidding! Whenever I shop here, I can’t control myself lol. I feel like everything is screaming my name! A great place to shop. Love it 💓
Amazing selection of items without being expensive, clean, organized, well stocked, and nice staff.
Really big store with a lot of good products!
Super cute store filled with Japanese goods: snacks, beauty products, stationary, pet supplies, etc. So much variety! The store is exceptionally clean and well-organized. Will be visiting again.
The people that work there can be really nice or be extremely rude. The people at the checkout are mean. :( But overall I had a good time. I buy my face mask from there and buy my candy.
Went because it reminded me of my time in Tokyo. Wouldve had a better shopping experience if I had not been followed throughout the upper level while browsing. Black shoppers be en guard.
It was a great store with great service. But too expensive
This store have a lot of cute items that are useful in your every day life.
Lots of Japanese cosmetics and snacks. Its a good option in the area if you only need snacks and dont want to line up and be crowded inside hmart.
Expensive and they are not nice I ask them if I can use the bathroom she said nooo loud I will never go there again
So cute. so many cute things!
Cute store wd a lot of stuff
I got great exotic snacks...
Awesome !
For all your Japanese needs, love it.
I felt like I was in Japan. I could spend hours just looking at stationary and snacks. Those who like cosmetics, theres hours worth of brousing here!
My favorite section was the Tenga section! Right across from the fake eyelashes and kawaii makeup products. I ky problem was that it was too crowded for me to take my time looking (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)
It was great great.place and prices
Great Japanese Variety Store!
All the snacks and cute gifts
