Best hardware store in nyc where we treat you like royalty

The owner was extremely nice and accommodating. I needed screws to mount a Samsung TV and accidentally purchased the wrong size - the exchange process was very easy and the store also has great social distancing measures so I felt safe the entire time. 5/5 would recommend and will probably go here for all of my hardware needs since I just moved close by. If youre unsure if they have what you need you can always call in advance and if the owner by chance misses your call while helping a customer he always calls right back!

This store is never open I’ve tried to go there for the past month

Nice place, in the heart of manhattan, it can be really helpful to find your stuff here instead of going to a home depot. Because of its location, yes it can be expensive but it can save you some time!

A gem of a neighborhood hardware store and true NYC experience. Came here for paint while moving into the area. Felix the proprietor is genuinely friendly, helpful and attentive. And I could sit on a couch and watch English football while I waited!

Store is a mess, old outdated product and dusty and over priced. The proprietor was only moderately helpful. Mind you this is a hardware store. I asked to use a pair of pliers to adjust something that I was purchasing and the owner refused me. He said I dont have any pliers to let you use. He said..youll have to purchase a pair To which I pointed out, but this is a hardware store. Are you really telling me that you dont have an extra pair of pliers that I can just try to make an adjustment to something that I am purchasing? The owner answered no. Needless to say I wont be going back to this store. Had to walk 4 blocks to a Jacks Discount just to purchase an inexpensive pair of pliers that worked just fine. This True Value store is not the helpful hardware store advertised. 😝

$3 plier is whopping $24.99. They dont return your money back but store credit also. Such a rip off...

This hardware store should be shut down immediately. Customer service rep is a slave to his horrible boss. Their paint mixer broke after they charged me. Since I had to go to another store, I asked for a full refund. What they gave me as a piece of paper that stated “store credit - Steven.”Why would I come back to a store that thinks this is okay?! I demanded a credit card charge reversal, but Steven said, store policy: NO REFUNDS.I hadn’t even left the store with merchandise yet... go to Scheman and Grant on 38th and 7th. That place is Christmas and so magical.

Great little neighborhood shop that gets a bad rap due to the previous owners, the parents of felix, who runs it now. Felix is a great character who has a lot of knowledge and experience and is very helpful

I would give them zero stars if I could. Many years ago we were told straight out that they did not need our business. We were happy to oblige and have not been in there for over a decade! Conversations with our neighbors, social media posts, and even building maintenance personnel reveal complaints about this business on a regular basis. Nasty and a rip-off are the correct descriptions of this business.

Friendly, with local knowledge and local character, neither of which you could find at a Big Box store. A true neighborhood gem.

I called before hand to make sure they had what I wanted and the gentleman who answered personally went to go check if it was in stock. Once i rushed over, the same gentleman personally helped me with everything i needed, both amiably and efficiently. The service was great, but the best part is that the employees were real nice genuine people. Old fashioned places in NYC such as these are hard to come by. I will definitely be shopping here more often!

I went there at 12 AM. They were closed. Sign on door says they are open 8am-8pm. So whats the point of that? Even home Depot has better hours. They need to update their website. Cant say anything else place was closed. But the false advertising about their hours really, really pissed me off. I needed paint.

This is one of the worst and frustrating experiences Ive had as a client ever! Bought a faucet coupler set a couple of days ago. The sales person who was at the store ( dont have his name) was extremely incompetent and excused himself by warning me he didnt know much about plumbing. Well, then one doesnt work at a hardware shop that sells plumbing parts!!! It took him like 15 minutes going over every single item on a long shelf until he somehow slowly and painfully reached to ( I think by chance) to the part I was looking for. He even wasnt sure if that was it but I told him it was and bought it. That was the only brand and option they had in the entire store. So I went back home, installed it and the coupler leaked in the middle where the two parts connect. It seemed a defective peace so I was forced to go to a different store and buy the same but from a different brand. I would not take my chance on getting my home flooded, over low quality or defective product! So today I went back to the store to return the defective coupler and ask for a refund. Of course, I brought my receipt and even the same credit card I paid for the part, cost around $15. And I ended up having to walk away extremely frustrated and feeling insulted by the CEO and/or the owner, Felix Atlasman. I have never seen a more arrogant and condescending business owner/manager! He pointed at a small sign that said All returns are store credit and basically offered me another piece of the same product or a different product from the store. Well, first off, I didnt feel like getting another piece hoping it wont be defective this time! Secondly, it is a hardware store, not a clothing boutique!!! Plus I was returning a DEFECTIVE ITEM they had no replacement for ( a different brand) !!! If a store sells defective products, why should I be forced to give my business to that store! When I asked who was the owner he literally laughed at me saying You are the owner! I asked if he was the owner of the store and he said with a smile on his face that he wasnt. Then I asked him who was the owner of the store and he handed me a business card! I was amazed to see his name on the business card! He kept smiling and basically said he couldnt do anything. In short, I had probably the most frustrating shopping experience ever. I feel robbed out of my money over a clearly defective product and on top of the that the CEO or owner or whoever Felix Atlasman really is ( I strongly suspect he is the owner), he acted extremely insulting and unprofessional and basically managed to ruin half of my afternoon. In my opinion, businesses like that with ownership like that, treating their clients like that, should not be in the business at all! I am sure they will keep getting negative reviews until they are forced to change the way they do business and learn how to treat their customers with respect or they will logically and hopefully cease to exist as a well-deserved consequence. I am attaching that persons business card for you to know who to avoid communicating with. That could save you a lot of frustration, I promise!

Incredible bad & disrespectful attitude from the owner. My worst life experience at any Hardware store. Brought a base for a light bulb I needed; the guy took it with him to look for it, got distracted with another customer & forgot where he put it. Twenty minutes later he tells me to go home & come back later, which I refused to do. Then he tells me to get the F___ out of the store. I had to call the police. When he saw that, he suddenly found the piece but he refused to sell me the bulb I needed.

Called and asked if they carried a simple product. Response: You know, I dont know what we have here and I dont have anyone to talk to you. You have to come look.So they dont know what is in their own store and no one, not even the employee that answered the phone, works there? Cool.

They have everything BUT good customer service. I went in to buy a paint. The guy behind the counter had no idea what black chalk board paint was... weird at a hardware store with a huge Benjamin Moore paint selection. Fine.. he helped me out and I got the paint. When I got to my job (the paint was for a board at my job) I come to find out the black paint is WHITE! So because this place was far from my job I had to buy the paint from another hardware store. I tried returned the wrong paint I was sold and had to send one of my employees. When my employee got there I asked to speak to the guy on the phone so I can explain what happened. In the middle of me explaining he passes the phone back to my employee and then mentions to him that we can not exchange it. Without even listening to what I had to say. Sad part was this was the manager I spoke to . Good luck purchasing anything from this location.

They have EVERYTHING. Found the clear contact paper that no one else seemed to carry. So much more satisfying to shop in a place like this, where the clerks are super friendly and helpful, rather than order on anonymous, cold Amazon.

Great service. Ive been going here for 2+ years for various household needs. Every time I walk in I ask someone at the desk where to find something and they either tell me exactly where it is or walk me back there and help me find it. Great selection, helpful employees.

I stopped in because my bike/scooter broke. Felix was a real help, he let me use his tools and gave me some assistance to get it back up and running again. I will shop here for all my hardware needs.

Im glad that theyre there, but wow, do they ever gouge you for certain items. Word to the wise: stay away from their Thrifty line of drain openers. If you thought nobody could screw up a drain opener made solely of sodium hydroxide, the folks who make Thrifty would like to prove otherwise. Its just wet enough that you either cant pour it, or it all comes out at once, and theres this strange gray dust in it that comes out in a caustic, choking cloud every time the contents move. I thought that for $20 I would at least get a product equivalent to the stuff that sold for $4.82 a few blocks away during the day. I was wrong.For most things, theres no reason to go here if any other nearby hardware store is open, however they actually do have a few things that arent a total ripoff. Im still giving them four stars, because Id rather them be there than not be there.

Felix is the best, he’s helped me out of many jams with my keys and a bunch of other random hardware needs.

Brought in a lamp to be refitted or simply get correct hard to find bulb and it was the lamp was given to another person in Brooklyn and I never saw it again...cant reach anyone- rude, inconsiderate, unreliable and mean

Ive gone all over Manhattan looking for mini 12x eye magnifier best hardware store ever.I happened to ask them and these guys actually had it. A hardware store of all places. Great staff very helpful as well. I love this place.

I am the Production Manager for a show on 42nd Street and this place is a lifesaver. Felix the owner is a great guy and he and his staff are friendly and helpful. He is sure to stock quality goods and sometimes will advise against the less expensive option if long-term durability is key.

Would appreciate if the store hours could be updated to reflect the sign stating its open from 8 am to 8 pm. I walked about 15 blocks expecting this place to be open due to its 24 hour claim. Arrived to this sign much to my disappointment.

This place is the worst rip off in New York City. For many, if not most items, they charge double what you would pay anywhere else. I was just in there and they wanted $13 for a roll of tape which they charge $5.00 for everywhere else .You can pretty much tell, if the price is written in black sharpie, that they have padded the price and if you buy it you will be ripped off - big time. I know that the small stores are struggling with competition like Amazon and Home Depot, And this is exactly the wrong way to try to stay in business. It evens desperate, lazy and greedy. Unless you have money to burn, I strongly suggest you go to another 24 hour hardware store like Homefront (which is not great with their prices but not nearly as bad as this place.)

One of the worst PEOPLE you will ever meet. A liar, and con artist beyond measure. The owner, Felix Atlasman is one of the most garbage filled people I have ever met and worked for. I come into the store being told I would work for the initial store. Not told about another store that he wants me to run. Regardless i did so without a problem. That store had horrible to no heat, poorly ran among many other problems. 24 hour training was as big of a joke as the way he runs the place. I have a background in Hardware and know more than him. I was actually helping Felix Atlasman, help me in training. It wasnt training at all. It was FREE LABOR. That he will not pay me for. Another problem is I tell him I want to be paid ON THE BOOKS, he agrees until it is payday. In which he pays me half of what I was owed and fires me all to save that dollar. My time in the other store, people were telling me to leave as soon as i can due to Felix Atlasmans shady business practices. But the worst part? He had another man in which I wont have his name identified, living in the store working 18 hours basically with no pay. Once the worker said he would pay a rental fee but would like some compensation he threw him out into the streets! In the freezing cold! All this talk he does about God until its about the dollar bill. A true liar, spineless trash of a man. To all the customers that warned me I truly thank you. For anybody shopping there I just want you to.know who you are dealing with.

Im a small business owner in the area for over thirty years now, and feel that if I treated my customers as poorly as this owner treats his staff and customers I would be out of business. Convenient yes, worth dealing with a person whos obviously incapable of treating people respectfully, Not worth giving him a dime.. Save your money and use his competitors.

High prices and very poor service . They are focused on the sale but not at all on customer satisfaction. Last time I was there was for a can of custom benjamin Moore paint. They mixed it in the back and broughtnitnout to me in an old rusted and dented can. Guess they wanted to get rid of it .

Selection is very bad. I paid $6.80 for two 1.5 inch screws and a 3 inch L bracket. This wouldve costed less then $2.00 at home depot. I understand smaller stores need to survive but they cant gouge people.

Lots of everything crammed into this store - from all your standard hardware store stuff of nuts & bolts, plumbing, paint, shelving, electrical, and spackle to candles, cards, coffee makers, kitchen utensils, and air mattresses. Although repeatedly distracted with employees and inventory while trying to assist me with 3 different items, I found Felix to be very knowledgeable and helpful. Fun store to explore and poke around in.

Walked to the 24 hour store. Closed. Typically “open 24 hours” means 24 hours a day. But the must go by some other definition. Opened 24 hours a ‘weak’? It’s just a lie, and it’s annoying and I wasted 45 mins. That’s why home de;it, etc run theses mom and pops out of business. Poor service, high prices, snd lies.

Having a hardware so close to times square is so convenient, especially one that sells various drill bits and bit extenders and motor oil. The staff here was super helpful and I would definitely come here again

This place is a joke. the random oddballs working there havent the slightest clue about home improvement or the products they sell. after looking around and asking if they had the metal strip that you screwed into a wall to hang hook-shelves from and receiving a shrug a and awkward glazed over looking, I found one that was probably to thin and previously had been cut to roughly 4 ft. I decided to give it a shot anyway and took it to the counter and asked for pricing. he grabbed a hold of it caressing it up and down with two fingers as he analyzed it like a prehistoric fossil, something I saw as basically one cut from trash. he then quoted me off the top of his head 29.99 and I turned and walked out.

Rude and arrogant staff!!!I wanted to make two copies of a simple apartment key. First time the older Russian guy made them (I think he is the owner), both did not turn the lock. I went back and asked them to make a second copy. The same guy made another copy without even saying Im sorry. Guess what, the keys did not work again! I came back the 2nd time and this time a young employee was friendly enough and said that he is the key master and this time it should work. Well I went back to my apartment and only one of the two keys worked. I was fed up with their key making ability and when I came back for the 3rd time to the store I asked for the money back for the key that did not fit. This time I saw the older lady at the counter (the wife of the owner) who accused me that I am lying that the keys dont fit. She said that its up to her to decide if she should refund me the money and she said she would not. She was very obnoxious telling me that she can tell by the way I look that I am a lier! Fortunately her son who works there came to the front, looked at the keys and admitted there was a mistake and gave me the money back telling her to be quiet.Please do yourself a favor and dont make keys in that store! And if you get anything else there, based on my experience you will not get good customer service.

This place rips you off and over charges. Sold me a box of ten masks with one missing and still charged full price. He also sells fake medical masks, dont buy from here.

Unless you deal with the owner the staff there seems to have been hired off the street outside port authority... Id rather walk the extra 30 blocks to go to Home depot or loews just to keepmy blood pressure down after dealing with these clowns... High on Hennessy and Jay-Z granduer I live close by and even just walking by I get slightly enraged thinking about the place... Best part about it is the prices... everything is marked up at least 75%... keys made rarely work... paint is constantly off by a shade... If this represents America then send me back Spain...

Bubbble wrap was more than five times an equivalent roll from Amazon. Packing boxes were similarly ridiculous. The lights in the aisles were turned off (to save electricity?). Had to navigate with cell phone flashlight.

Go to the hardware store on between 47th and 48th instead. You will save money- lots of it. This guy charges 43, 43 dollars for a lock that cost 16.95 on 47th & 9th. Same side of the street just four blocks up. In fact, purchase there instead, your wallet will thank you. Oh & beware NO REFUNDS.My lock needed replacement, landlord went to 47th got a lock. I didnt know he would bring it and just have me pay for it. I went to this store and got one also. 43 dollars and 20 minutes later landlord comes with a lock and bill. I go back to this store to get a refund...When asked to speak to the manager, the guy said he was the owner and that he couldnt do refunds because it was Gods law. I smiled and said you write the policy, he said its the law, I answered- which you made. He said thats all I can do. He took the lock back and gave me a post it- yes a post it saying store credit. Not even a legit receipt.Lost a possible customer and further referrals. Seriously, save your money- go 4 blocks up.

Extremely horrible customer service. These people will try to rip you off.When you question why youre being charged for the most expensive option, they refuse to answer you. Instead, this then turns into verbal shouting at the customer. I will never give money to a business that makes a customer feel that way. Im honestly shocked that they are still in business.

A bit cramped but the staff was helpful and quick and they had what I wanted.

They used to carry soda stream cartridges for exchange, but the last about 1.5 months, Ive gone in 3 times trying to exchange and they dont have any and he gives me a runaround saying the owner is out of town and will order it soon. But this it has been 1.5 months and still the same runaround.

$9 for a small roll of packing tape. Found the same roll in a nearby grocery store for $4.50. Theyre open 24 hours, so I guess if you need a hw store in a pinch. But otherwise pretty terrible. Poor selection and way over priced.

Told me over the phone that they had what i wanted bur when i got there the lady behind the counter had no idea what i was talking about. a second employee told me that they sold out last week and were expecting more in a few days.

The staff here made me feel at home and like I was part of a neighbourhood when I first moved in. They know their products very well and they are happy to help. Its very tight in there so give yourself time to find things.

This store is one of the only 24 hour hardware stores, and they have a multitude of hardware items, but be prepared to pay above NYC average, as their products are priced significantly higher than what would he found at other hardware stores in the area and the city.

After seeing that the store was open 24 hours a day, I stopped by after 10pm on a Wednesday and found they were closed!

Giant sign outside says open 24 hours 7 days a week. Just told me they closed at 8. Last time I was in there the only person working didnt know what caulking was. Avoid.

Everything is overpriced but it beats going to Lowes or home depot in a pinch.
