Great easy village hardware shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and help you to decide based on your needs. Two girls in front of me were asking about what plants live on low sunlight conditions. The clerk was very patient with their questions. And helped them to choose the best plant. They have a huge selection of everything! And great selection of planters
Homeware and gardening basics along with crystals and knick knacks. Amazing how many items they have in such a tiny store.
Minimal purchase requirement if you are paying with credit card.Return or refund is for store credit only. It wont go back to your original payment methods. The descriptions of the item detail on the receipt sometimes are very general.Remember to double check the price of the items. Sometimes mistake happens on the item label, and sometimes the cashier miscalculates the price. The cashier doesnt always scan the bar code. This is a good store for last minute purchase.
Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. They have EVERYTHING. Lights, mouse traps, plumbing .. all the usual hardware stuff plus some nice plants, pottery, and candles
Seems like they have everything. Ive come here for a number of different things and they always have what I need and are super helpful. It is always a good experience no matter what. A well earned 5 stars in my book
Your average city hardware store that sells some other stuff such as plants as well. I have never not been able to find something I need here; however, full disclosure, I am usually not looking for a lot. Overall, extremely friendly and helpful. Clean. Prices are okay for nyc. Good hours too. Just FYI, there is a credit card minimum so if you’re not planning on spending a lot, I would recommend bringing some cash.
Excellent knowledge associates were extreme helpful. guide me to find the products and also find it and bring it to me at the cashiers window
Saifee is a neighborhood hardware store--packed full of tools, other hardware, gardening items, some home decor, and more. its a local and family-owned businesshad a small home repair to do, recently and Saifee staff got me covered. bought everything i needed in a few minutes. the interior is packed floor to ceiling with home repair items, so its best to ask a staffer for where things are unless youre familiar with the store. store is clean and brightly lit.prices are comparable to other hardware stores. service is fast and friendly. i highly recommend Saifee for your home improvement needs.
I had a great experience at this store. I walked by and saw a disco ball in the window and the place caught my eye. The staff was very professional, helpful, and patient. I recommend this store for any of your gardening, household, or disco ball needs :)
Rude and unhelpful staff, don’t bother going. Especially the guy at the counter
The staff here are very helpful and they have a great selection of plants!
Bought an $80 plant and pot there, was super happy at first but then started noticing a lot of bugs in my apartment. Discovered that the plant was infested with literally thousands of flies and fly eggs. I tried using insecticide I bought here and it didnt work after repeated uses. The bugs spread to all of the other plants in the same room and I had to throw most of them away. Had to dispose of plants Ive had for years because of this purchase.
I wanted to remove graffiti on my shop’s pillars including Shutters, Martinez the local porter introduced me to Saifee ! Oscar is a great guy to work with. Never met him but communicated right through the phone.5 star or more !!
I love this hardware store. Ive been coming here for 30 years (since they opened) & have always found what I needed. The staff is really helpful & friendly & the prices are very reasonable. Love their Gardening Dept. too. So grateful the Saifee family has remained in the East Village all these years. High recommend shopping here.
They helped me retrofit a broomstick to a 1inch broom threas. Saifee knows it all
Great resource for city gardeners
I just bought so many plants from here - way more than I planned - because Miguel was so helpful and knowledgeable. He not only helped me pick the plants best for my space, he went to the trouble of re-potting them so that they would thrive. They also have a great selection of pots - so nice to buy things that you don’t see everywhere. I’ll definitely be back to buy more.
Amazing staff and so happy to have such a wonderful place close by. I have come here for everything from plants to key cutting to building supplies and always have left with what I needed.
Great place for house plants
Be very careful when you buy plants. I bought a $60 hibiscus and few days later saw that it had SO many mealy bugs. Had to throw it away :(
I went to this store with a vague notion to get a plant for my apartment. Needless to say, complications ensued; I had no idea what kind of plant I wanted (only that it had to be large-ish and a good indoor plant), forgot that I would also need a pot, and, worst of all, I surmised that the cart I had brought with me was way too small. Rendered (now) utterly useless, I wanted to toss it (and myself along with it) into the street.Fortunately, an incredibly helpful worker who seemed to see the dramatic scene unfolding in my head came to my rescue. Not only did he help me choose a wonderful indoor plant, he also helped me choose a pot, a plate to go along with it, and then - if that wasnt enough - he helped me put it all in the Uber I got to transport it back to my apartment. I am forever in this persons debt (I wish I had asked for his name!), and will never forget the kindness and patience he had for probably one of the ditziest customers hes ever had to deal with.
Do not waste your time going here. I spend $5.00 on two simple keys. There is a $10.00 minimum on cards too. I had to not only spend extra money on getting to the $10.00 but time searching for some thing else I needed.
Absolutely adore this place. I think about half of my windowsill garden is from it. They have great prices and I was helped happily when looking for a fern on the smaller side. All the seeds Ive gotten from them have grown easily. A fantastic local business and well appreciated. Whenever I need some new pots or plants to add to my collection, I check here first.
I go there for hardware and PLANTS N THINGS
Great place to shop for plants and pots at fair prices!
Wide selection of hardware and home/gardening goods. lots of plants and seeds, and some nice candles too! Employees were nice and helpful. Good vibes
I love this little store. Its a great alternative to Ace Hardware if youre looking for some things with a little more charm.Great vases, cute pots for indoor plants, candles, incense, and many other quirky little home items all at a pretty reasonable price.Ive also purchased several house plants from here, and the men in the store were very helpful in recommending which plants are best for low light, full sun, or in my case, which plants are the hardest to kill (and to their credit, I have yet to kill any plants after 4 months!)Absolutely will return here again and again.
This is my go-to neighborhood spot for cleaning supplies, hardware needs, candles, houseplants, and anything else of that nature. They even recommended someone to me who would help me drill my furniture into my wall, which ended up being very reasonably priced. Everyone who works here is very helpful, and I love giving my business to a locally owned business. If youve just moved to the area, they copy keys!
If you are looking for the most complete store in New York’s east village, look no further than the corner of 1st Avenue & East 7th Street. Saifee Hardware, Jamali Garden in West 28th Street & Mushtari Hardware on West 125th HAVE IT ALL!
I’ve never posted a bad review but I guess there’s a first for everything. I bought a hanging pothos from here 2 weeks ago. After just a few days about half the leaves were turning yellow or brown. I trimmed the sick leaves off and have been taking good care of it, but after two weeks it continues to turn. It’s obvipusly just a sick plant but when I went in to see if they’d exchange it, the worker I spoke to just repeatedly told me I hadn’t watered it which, if it weren’t patently false, would’ve been helpful feedback. I have many of these plants, I’ve been caring for them for years. I know how to keep them healthy—they’re really low maintenance. Take a little pride in what you do. I live in the neighborhood and care for a menagerie if plants that I love. Had they exchanged the plant I would’ve left a happy customer and surely come back for more. I can forgive a sick plant, but bad customer service is bad customer service. If you need a plant in EV, go to Crystals garden instead.
If you go to Saifees and you don’t work with Frank and Oscar you’re wasting your time. Absolute gentlemen. I’ll be back (Arnold Voice)
High priced and rude. Would give zero if possible.
Love this store, it’s staff and products. They have more than just garden, valspar paint and hardware. Come here for all your household supplies from pillows to bathroom mats and rugs.
This place has everything, and the people who work here are always so helpful. A+
Wonderful local store.
Very good and honest hardware store. Good plants selection, helpful staff. A blessing to the neighborhood.
They have a very large selection for plant care and gardening.
Great guys here. Knowledgable staff. Totally helpful and willing to get what you need and make sure its the right part. Well stocked too. The guys helping me actually took the thing I was trying to fix and fiddled with it until it was in fact fixed. If you live in the hood, then this is probably your go-to place. If your a passerby finding yourself in need of a hardware store, check out this place.
With their condescending staff and utter lack of customer service you’d be a fool to bring your business here, but even if you try they may refuse to acknowledge you at the register.Walk down to ace, they actually know what they’re saying and have reasonable pricing.
Great selection of everything including fertilizers. Friendly staff as well. Would recommend.
Incredible selection, friendly & helpful staff, and a general nice atmosphere. The prices are also very good.
Really good prices on large planters
Wow. Very pretty well kept plants, home decor, hardware and more, this is one of my favorite house GO-TOS!
Love this place. Great guys, most of everything you need. Been here for years.
Great store, they always have something i need and more interesting stuff to check out at a good price
Just purchased a box fan from this store, got it home, opened the box, and realized this was clearly a used product being passed off as a new one. It has scuff marks and even bits of tape on it. Called the store, who in fairness did offer a refund if I brought it back. Im not carrying this thing back and forth, and it is hard to find a fan in winter. They offered no discount, basically take it or leave it. Not impressed that theyre passing off a obviously used product as a new one...
I have been going to Jamalis Garden on 28th Street for 20 years. I had hoped the east village location would be as good. They are consistently more expensive, have much less selection and are extremely unknowledgeable and unhelpful. Each time I go I tell myself I’ll never go again. Guys! Pick up your game! Be polite too your clients and a little bit helpful.
I dont go here anymore. Too many times the clerks are stealing when they give you your change back. I guess many people dont notice or they choose whom they steal from They will always act as if its a mistake. Some items are over priced, but they do have a good selection.
I love this hardware store.. It has everything you may need and even more 👌
Ridicously overpriced but handy. If you dont need garden supplies go to ACE a few blocks South and save.
The worst customer service of any hardware store and the manager was rude. I had two keys copied Saifee Hardware & Garden and they were bad copies and did not work. Unfortunately, I was called out of town for two weeks and upon my return went to the store hoping to to put the price of the key copying towards the purchase of vacuum cleaner bags. Because it was beyond 7 days of purchase they would do nothing to reimburse the money I had spent. I had both the keys and receipt in hand and the manager blankly refused because it was their policy. I could understand a 7 day window if the purchase items were perishables but as far as Im concerned this is simply a case of bad management and bad policy. I will never shop there again.
Nice guys, lots of inventory and great plants too.
What they lack in competence, they make up for in being open late.
Surprisingly thorough selection and very convenient to neighborhood.
Excellent customer service. The store has everything.
Great selection - lots of help
Very knowledgeable staff.
Extremely helpful staff.
Key I copied did not work.
Maybe the only store in Manhattan that stocks RainDrip watering system components.
Easily the Best Hardware Store in the E.V.
