I have shopped Rainbow for years. They have so many items and carefully stock for the best product. They also have catalogs which they will take out and you can go through for a product they will source for you. For instance, we chose a roll top wooden bread box. They sourced it and we still have it in mint condition. Go to Rainbow!!!!! Also, the staff is fantastic . So friendly and capable. They staff across the board with various ages and ethnicities. SO NYC!

This is one store where everything will be at the highest price. They used to send out coupon flyers, but no more. If you live near a home depot, Id try that first.

Good variety of products, but a bit pricy even relative to other stores

My favorite hardware housewares store in all of NYC. You can find absolutely anything you need. Find the red haired older gentleman, he is so nice and helpful. They are not great at the phones.

Best selection of cleaning, cooking, and other products you cannot easily find elsewhere.

As far as Manhattan home goods/everything goods stores go, Rainbow Ace is one of the best.

This is a great place to pick up paint and hardware needs as well as doing plain old-fashioned Five-and-Dime browsing. As far as quality, the store is a mix of Woollworths and the old Gracious Homes stores, though it never reaches the stratosphere of the latter.

The store has an incredible variety! I loved everything! But the service at the checkout was very bad! I went in the morning, the store was empty, yet, I was attended with a lot of impatience and no courtesy!

Nice and express everything on hardware store

Been going here for years and this was the first time i had to return a item, customer service was so bad/rude lol i was actually accused of opening the item i wanted to return, when i tried to explain it was already open the woman said look on the shelf none are open. Thanks lady that was so not helpful lmao will not be going here much often from now and if i do i will def watch what im buying cause returning a item here is like pulling teeth.

They have a great selection of anything you would need for a home, but they don’t deliver! How exactly do you expect people on foot to get large storage bins or shelves home.

This is such a cool little place. It has hardware - and a pretty good selection - but also bed and bath supplies, as well as home good. It combines a lot of different stores into one. So if you need a drill, stop in. If you need sheets, stop in. If you need art supplies, yup, stop in.

Your local do it all hardware store that sells kitchen ware, skin products, soaps, key copies, snacks and...hardware. Why go anywhere else when Rainbow has it?

I went to the store 12min before 9PM I asked an employee what the hours where and he said 9-9 then slammed the door in my face and locked it. That was extremely rude and uncalled for!! I was going to grab one thing and they still had people shopping in the store. Employees should be trained on providing customer service and having standard manners!! I will be sure to share my experience with friends and family.

Very nice stock store

There is a huge selection of stuff here and its a great resource for UES apartment dwellers. The downside is the service. We went there on a quiet day and asked where to find a couple different items. The clerks would not move from there spot, where they were doing nothing. They simply told us where to look. Poor customer service.

Poor poor attitude. This is the second time I go into this store since I moved to the neighborhood. I asked if they carry disinfectant wipes and a lady with lots of attitude told me No, then she sped off. I then asked another one if they carry disinfectant spray, this other ladys attitude is worse and said dont you hear that she already told you no?. I was thinking spray and wipes are 2 different things. Didnt bother, left, found my items in Morton Williams. Paid more but its not worth the condescending treatment.

Fair and reasonable prices. This place has pretty much everything you need. Its open fairly late which comes in handy. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

My experience here has been less than satisfactory. Extraordinary prices and employees who seem to want to be somewhere else but helping customers make it a disappointing shopping experience. However, to be fair if I werent on a budget and wanting instant gratification I wouldnt mind the challenges I face when shopping there.

I love this place. Never in a million years would I think to get an Ace Hardware Rewards Card. I rarely go to hardware stores. But after I went in here and saw they have BASICALLY EVERY SINGLE THING YOU WOULD EVER POSSIBLY NEED, when the cashier asked if I wanted a card, I was like hell yes! This place has everything, I will definitely be back. And indeed, I will, and I have.

We have been coming here for awhile to renovate and paint our new apartment. You can basically find anything here for a decent price. Workers are usually helpful if you catch them, however some are not very knowledgeable. With the paint section we always had a good experience.

Great alternative to Bed Bath and Beyond and a Home Depot. I found nearly everything on my doing list from an over the door shoe holder to watering bulb. Decent prices and friendly staff. This will be my go to in NYC.

Staff need to be more helpful and couteous with clients. One or two are, But general speaking: they are unpleasant and not ready to help clients. Clients Have to look for them & Most of them are organizing shelves!!!). Wish Home Depot was in the area. They have an Excellent customer service.👍 They do go the extra mile to help customers.

Price of ppe is extrodinary high. Retail prices on other products high. However, hardware staff very knowadable and helpful.

Excellent local place to find almost anything you need for urban living.

Avoid this place at all costs. Employees (especially Winston) are incredibly rude and tried to refuse our return of items because they had some dog hair on them (let alone that people bring their dogs inside all the time and they dont seem to mind). Weve purchased several hundreds of dollars worth of items from here and now regret ever having given them our business. Needless to say they will never receive another dollar from us. I suggest you purchase your items from the Home Depot on 59th street as their return policy gives you peace of mind and the employees are friendly, helpful, and make you feel welcome inside their store.

If you dont have THE Receipt to bring back for cash or credit and its not reflected in their register, forgetaboutit! Rude at cashiers and manager.Not helpful at all. The rest of the staff on the floor is very helpful and will actually run the stairs for people that cant or prefer not to go downstairs.Paula

A hidden gem of the Upper East Side. Everything you could need and more.

Rainbow is open late and carries such a variety of goods that it is a lifesaver to have in the neighborhood. From home goods to paint, hardware, greeting cards and kids toys, they carry almost everything you could be looking for (other than food, I suppose). Ive been in a bind for a variety of items several times and they have always had them in stock despite my skepticism that I wouldnt be able to find it there. Its always pretty late, too, and I am always surprised that they are open as late as they are as a typical hardware store wont be open past 4 or 5, which is no help when youre installing your TV after work and discover you dont have the appropriate screws.They lose one starr as the staff can be rather unhelpful at times and stand-offish at others, particularly if it is busy. I realize that with such a broad range of products and presumably a high turnover that it is hard to keep employees cheery and on task so its not an enormous detractor. It certainly wont stop me from patronizing them. If you are aggressive in seeking out someone to guide you then you will probably be fine.They also have a downstairs with a considerable selection.One other downside is that the aisles are very skinny so if you have a large stroller or some other vessel with you it might be difficult to get around the store.

I really love this store. You can find everything from desks to ice cream scoops in hundreds of fun colors. They are also open till 10 PM and thats really terrific in the city that never sleeps.Two floors - pet food, cleaning supplies, paint brooms, party supplies, toys, greeting cards, kitchen items. This is not your ordinary hardware store. Short of food, clothing, and major furniture, they usually have just what you need, or want.The prices are very competitive, often better than Amazon. The owner is usually there and shes very friendly. And the staff is very helpful. They have so many products jampacked into every nook and cranny of their two floors youll probably need their help.

This place is awesome! It has everything, like Walmart, but smaller and more interesting (dare I say fun?!) and higher quality goods.

Guy working in the paint section had a horrible attitude. Never looked in my general direction when speaking to me and was clearly irritated. I asked his opinion on the finish of the paint sample I brought in and he was annoyed I even asked. Should’ve shopped at the Benjamin Moore across the street.

Alot of interesting things to buy. Some things are overpriced and some are resonable.

Has everything you need, isnt overpriced and the employees are always extremely helpful and friendly. Good to know places like these still exist. Its a savior--love it!
