A new favorite find in NYC. They are so knowledgable and helpful. Like the old days when people in hardware stores had intelligible answers and solutions. I worked with Brian and Toni and will try to bring my business there going forward.. although a bit out of the way for me. The Ace Hardware on Bleeker does not hold a candle to the experience at Schames and son .

They have been my go-to place since I moved to the LES more than thirteen years ago. Absolutely lovely people - always helpful, always so personable. And they generally have exactly what I am looking for. If they dont carry the paint brand I need, they will match it for me. And if they dont have something else that I need, they will point me in the right direction.

The man at the front was so helpful! I got exactly the paint I needed. Excellent advice on how to fix my apartment up. Highly recommend!

Im in from out of town helping my daughter with her move. Ive been in the store about 5 times so far. Eaxhntime, the guys have been super nice and really helpful. Definitely recommend!

Walked out of there after being in there for five minutes.I picked out a few swatches that looked close to what Id seen in a photo of a bathroom online. I saved the photo on my phone to try and compare. I went to the counter and as soon as I pulled out my phone the guy behind the counter said, Im not gonna look at your phone. Its not going to look like it does on a screen.Having worked in graphics and plate printing before I am well aware of this. I asked, Im just asking if you can maybe narrow it down. You wont even look at a photo?And he just said, No. in the smug New York know-it-all way (like his posture). So I said, Thanks for your help. And walked out as they laughed at me.Screw this place. They were recommended to me as one of the best but Im not there to be treated like dirt over a couple gallons of paint from some greaseballs.

I Came into the store to buy 2 gallons of Matt paint I asked the older gentleman how much Matt would cost he said that the cans are $34 the price does not change on the type of paint you want so when I got home I looked at my receipt and realize he charge me $41.75 for 2 cans. when I try to return it the next day they refused and said that nobody Overcharged me because that is the price of the paint. when I argued with him about the price that was told to me the man behind the counter refused to give me some of my money back this place is a rip off and they don’t like to give your money back because they make no business. yes they might be nice but friendly doesn’t goet you anywhere, making the customer happy and making sure you give the customer the right information is what’s important.

My only good to place for all my paint and painting supply in Manhattan. Super knowledgeable staff and family owned and been around the area forever.

Great painting tools available here that r difficult to get anywhere else, kind folks and helpfull, this spot along with janovic in soho are my two favorite paint supplies... in business for 15 years

Very polite, friendly, and helpful, I came here for a very complicated request and these guys took time out of their busy day to help me put together all the materials I needed.

Sometimes they are helpful and friendly, but often quite arrogant and condescending. But why not? Arent we all supposed to be hardware and paint experts? I guess thats whats expected of us.
