M & D Shapiro True Value Hardware Store located at 7 Great Jones Street between Broadway and Lafayette Street in NoHo, Greenwich Village, East Village and a few more hoods Is quite a Hardware store for being a Mom and Pop Shop.The staff is extremely nice and cordial even though my friend and I usually arrive 5 to 10 minutes before they close. I had such a great experience at M&D Shapiro. They went above and beyond to help me with my project, even hand altering a piece of a lock that needed to be bigger, all free of charge. Wonderful to have a hardware store like this one in the neighborhood!

M & D Shapiro True Value Hardware Store located on 7 Great Jones Street in the Greenwich Village, NoHo and East Village neighborhoods is a tad smaller than your average Hardware store in NYC.However, it is sort of a Mom ant Pop operation. Very nice and friendly individuals manning the shop. Always a smile and a greeting for the customers.I have been here on several occasions to buy under the sink plumbing pipes, light switch wall plates and key copying. Everytime me and my handyman always walked out with what we needed.

Clean, well stocked, bright! The owner offered me a discount on a great Klein tool bag with a minor flaw. Will return.

The staff are great. The lady who seems to be the owner, is not (you will know when you try to return something). It’s the closest hardware store to my home so I was hoping to be a frequent customer, but the last two bags of planting soil were terribly infested - took almost a year to be completely rid of them indoors. Thought I’d only go for emergencies, but I’ve learned my lesson.

Stay away, this place disregards the notion that customer is always right. I was unsure of an item at the time of purchase and explicitly asked about the return policy, to then return a week later and have the nasty owner tell me to get lost. You’re better off playing it safe and heading to your local Home Depot. As a business owner and having lived in New York all my life and have never dealt with a more difficult store owner.

If I could give negative stars I would. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! DONT COME HERE! Rude owner and staff. They told me I could return something if it didnt work out if I had the box and receipt within 14 days. I brought back 4 days later and the woman owner started yelling at me in front of customers and employees saying that there was nothing she could do and to get out! HORRIBLE RUDE AND HIGH PRICES! Dont come here. Better to get cheaper at Home Depot and better customer service and satisfaction guaranteed. THE MALE EMPLOYEE was trying to force me out of the store by shoving his body infront of mine to get out of the door. This is not good! The customer is always right.

A treasure for the hood which has lost many stores. Folks are helpful and friendly. Best: they carry everything a local hardware store should carry.

Friendly staff.....an hour later from posting initial review and getting home: Unfortunately, I bought a box of 4 light bulbs and one of them was already defective. You can see shards of glass inside the bulb and the coating of the bulb is just messed up. Not their fault necessarily, but a bummer. I should have checked the bulbs like eggs before leaving the store! On the positive side, I got also got a key made there and the price is right and most importantly, it works. :)

Hey! I thought it was fine and great for a manhattan home hardware store. Besides, they make good keys and it is hard to find a good key cutter. Bad reviews are hurtful so shop around first. Where do these people have time for that bull anyway? Oh yeah, they are not actual trades people.

I first came to this location a few years ago and was put off by the snappy customer service/high prices and left without buying anything.Was in the area today and needed to get something, saw they closed at 7:30pm on Google Maps, made it there at 7:23pm.Was greeted by a closed sign.They didnt bother to update their hours online. Never coming here again.

Be aware!This is a chain, Sealed Package, hardware store. In so, it is convenient but very expensive.It is to Hardware what a New York Korean Deli is to a supermarket!Be prepared to pay very inflated prices on everything.(But they are nice, helpful people non the less.)

To my experience and for what i bough it was reasonable price i was in the need of car oil inthe middle of no where if u ask me i looked for oil every where and i was able to find it here the guys berry helpfull thank you shapiro i was able to get home because i found at that time and open and i live far away in rock land county
