I had some buzzing issues on my Gibson ES-335. They identified the problem on the spot and fixed this and some other issues that were under warranty. After I picked up the guitar, I noticed that they transformed my guitar into really great instrument. I thought that this particular Gibson was just OK guitar; however, after they serviced it, it became an exceptional instrument. Today it is about a year or longer since the service took place. The guitar is absolutely sensational. Thank you Peekamoose. I am ready to take my Gibson Les Paul Standard for adjustments…This is an edit after Paul serviced my Les Paul Standard. I was expecting an amazing job, yet he surprised me again with his mastery and attention to details. This guitar is my favorite and I am happy beyond words with his adjustments. Paul will take a great guitar and turn it into unbelievable.

With freakish precision and a holistic approach to guitar health, Paul at peekamoose guitars breathed life into my 1963 Jazzmaster. He refretted it and rewired. It is easily three times the instrument it was before; louder, far easier to play, more sustain, wider frequency spectrum, more dynamic, less noise. Paul also redid the fretwork on our Rickenbacker (pictured) to equally remarkable standards. If you want the work on your prized instrument done right, peekamoose well worth the trip uptown.

Randomly located, helpful, wood-smelling little repair shop. Even though its primarily a guitar place, I took my uke in because the action was too high and there was a buzzing/resonating on the A string that was driving me insane. A little more expensive than I probably shouldve spent on my intermediate uke, but they did an excellent job. It went from borderline unplayable because of the buzzing, to an instrument I still enjoy playing a year later. They even gave a few weeks of free follow-up in case you arent satisfied with their work (which I didnt need). If you need a repair, the guys here seem to know what theyre doing. Thanks!

What a superb experience! i was so upset when my first guitars volume knob got broken but happy to learn about the repair place 5 min from my house. it is a paradise hidden in a nondescript building. paul was very helpful and quick in diagnosing the problem. he cured my sick guitar in no time. i also loved his wood smelling workshop. i mentioned that in case a new apprentice was needed, i am available anytime. it was probably taken as a joke but i was dead serious! thank you paul!

Paul was wonderful! I know nothing about guitars. Last month, I came across a free acoustic guitar I wanted to repair for my partner. I went to Pauls shop to get an assessment. Paul patiently explained that the guitar is a piece of junk, but was kind enough to restring it nonetheless. He took a lot of time to explain what kind of guitar I should buy as a replacement and where to sign up for beginners lessons. A guitar novice such as myself is clearly not his target audience; I really appreciated the time he took and the knowledge he lent. If either my partner or I seriously take up lessons, we have Paul to thank for getting us started!

No detail overlooked. No guitar leaves the shop in less than as perfect condition possible. Ive been taking my Guilds and Gretschs to Paul for years, proper intonation is important to me, and I am never disappointed. If you need to come back for a tweak, never a problem. Same for repairs. And always fun discussions.

Knowledgeable people here. I was given an accurate and just quote. Other suggestions were made regarding what the instrument needed and whether or not it would be worth it.The turn-around time was lacking by about a week but was understandable in my opinion due to the holiday season. The guys here made up for it by discounting some small things on the tab. It was an overall enjoyable experience.Tldr; if I had to sum my experience up in a few words: fair, personal, professional.Expected my instrument back sooner as per my quote but they made up for it. Great small business.

I came over to get a G string for a cigar box guitar I had built for my mother. Knowing nothing about how to play a guitar they were nice enough to test it out and explain some small changes to me and gave me the string for free. They are extremely friendly and outgoing couldnt recommend more!

Just a few minutes interacting with these guys tells me theyre the real deal. They care, and went so far as to refer me to a good amp repair shop that they personally recommend (Rogue Music.) Now that the amp is back in action I think its time to give my old Danelectro a tune up, and Peekamoose is definitely the place Im going to take it.

Paul is a genius luthier. His work with me for the past 15 years has allowed me to explore sounds, conjure musical personalities, and above all, has given me tools to define my style. Projects have included a complete electronic re-imagining of Jolie, a cherry-tart ES-335, a soulful resurrection of Uncle, an elder-statesman 1934 Gibson L-1, and a perfect restoration of Stella, a stoned-sunburst 1964 Framus. Whether you need work on an instrument, or want one of his own beautiful, true-original Peekamoose models, make Paul your first (and last) stop.

Peekamoose was the only place I let touch any of my guitars for 15 years in NYC. I moved to LA and none have needed much work, but if they needed a fret job or anything major, Id ship them to Peekamoose in a heartbeat. You will always be happy with the work they do. When you meet them, youll know what I mean because they pay SO much attention to detail, they cant NOT do a great job. I know, faulty English, but you get the picture.AND, they make amazing custom guitars that I salivate over every time I get a chance to visit their NAMM booth and get my hands on one. Someday...someday. I look forward to being an early-ish adopter of their custom guitars, at least on the West coast.
