I live in Miami Florida and together with my wife we planned our trip to New York almost a year in advance, one of my focal points was visiting the Guggenheim museum, and getting to know all the exhibition halls, their structure and all their spaces, the day Friday, April 9, we went to the museum and to be honest I was very satisfied with the experience of the visit, and the truth is that each and every one of the people with whom I had the opportunity to interact was very kind, with the exception of the person who works in the museum store specifically at the cash register, once we left the museum we wanted to buy something to remember our visit, at some point during my tour of the store, I was verbally assaulted by this person whose name I do not know, and I was taken from the store shouting because my mask fell off my nose, I did not allow time or even to explain what was happening, I did not want to start an argument, which is why, I Left from the store in silence, but quite annoyed by the rude and aggressive attitude of this person, which contrasts with all the kindness that exists inside the museum. I fully understand the sanitary regulations and the care that we must take in these days of a pandemic, however I also understand and am aware that there are ways of saying things, and showing kindness does not cost anything, especially with people who pay a ticket to enter to the museum and in our particular case we flew more than three hours to finally get to know it.This bitter experience does not detract from my pleasant visit to the museum at all, but at this particular point, I believe that this person should receive some kind of preparation to be able to serve the visitors, who in short contribute in some way to the payment of their salary. .A big greetingFederico
The space is small, selection meh. Staff was very helpful. Beth in particular was very knowledgeable and friendly
Gift shop with exclusive and excellent selections of gifts which can be given to anyone on your gift list and surprise them with your generosity and ingenuity. Also show off your empowered cultural insight. Great staffs with excellent customer services. Fabulous place to learn about local cultures and trendy popular tips. Cant go wrong when you hang out @ museums, especially in NYC.
Its a small museum but you get to see your Pollock, Rothko, Kline, Degas painting that you wanted to see. Plus they have a women artist exhibition! And a Jean Mitchell Basquiat in the top floor. Bathroom, restaurants and shops accessible for handicap. Museum personel available to greet you and inform you immediately of the latest museum activities. The most incredible experience because the museum itself is an art piece. You have the feeling that youre walking inside a sculpture!
I love wandering through this shop! Its a great place to purchase gifts and souvenirs.
Small store.
I love the execution of the museum building, pictures and movies will never be able to capture the delicate glow of the museum. Unfortunately Im not impressed with most of the temporary artwork in display. In parallel, this is my first live encounter with Basquiat and finally able to understand the power and complexity of his paintings. Was deeply moved by de Defacement exhibit.
It was great. The tour guide was very nice. The guards were a bit strict, but it was an enjoyable trip.
I love the place but the feature artist wasnt my favorite. I saw some pictures of other shows and they do a fantastic job of setting things up and using the unique space.
The staff is very friendly and the articles are very interesting specially after making the tour and knowing the value of the real pieces
It has good souvenirs, but the prices are a little bit up.
Only interesting for the architecture than you can observe in the main lobby. That part is free and the only one that you should pay for.
Its a pretty building to apreciate and enjoy the looks of it. Art gallery its just extra.
Just magic
The current (August 2018) Giacomett Exhibit at the Guggenheim is a must see event for anybody interested in 20th century modern sculpture.Once in a lifer me chance.Up for about 2 more months.
All things Guggenheim...bought a nice scarf there. At the tiny cafe there a big photo of FLW....take a pic standing by.
I went there cause it was the Guggenheim the architecture is amazing, the artwork was ok. I mean putting trash together from a landfill doesnt make it art (imo and everyone has their own).
Besides the intricate architecture, this museum is one that valutes ancient art. The museum was designed in a spiral so as you move up in the museum, its almost like reading a story with each new elevation you reach. You will find that the workers are very knowledgable about the art pieces and respectful.
Loved the layout of this art museum: spiraling up on a chronological exploration of Giocomettis work.
This is one of the best museums in the world. A must see regardless of the exhibit.
This is my favorite museum in NYC, the architecture is amazing, the expositions are always interesting and it has a nice gift shop.
Love it, but I love every museum Store. So if you there don´t get out without a sneak peek
The design is great but its more better museums to see
Beautiful art museum the outside structure itself is a modern marvel
Went to Pay As You Wish day. Waited in line for about half an hour but the line was moving at a steady speed. You can basically see it all in one visit.
Nice architecture, good customer service, helpful and friendly
Very nice, have very good paintings, a little bit expensive but its ok.
Great stuff you can buy here.
Typical museum store. Helpful staff, decent selection, but limited by square footage.
The building is amazing and the exhibitions are very interesting.
I liked it, but it was a bit pricy. I wanted a ring as a souvenir but the only ring I could find was $1200.
A select few unique items, but mostly mass produced imported cliche gifts. The staff is quite condescending as well.
Love the teapot shaped like the building.
Wide selection of over priced souvenirs gifts but cheerful, helpful staff.
Loved this place. Military get $5 discount.
Great, just crowded when we went.
Some staff were rude and bossy. Ruined experience.
Want to visit way more often ❤️❤️❤️
As museum stores go: YAY!. Jackpot!
Amazing arquitecture, not my favorite kind of art
Awesome building by Frank Lloyd Wright
Nice to buy some presents.
Lots of wonderful stuff to browse !
Be aware!!! You might end up shopping too much :)
One of the worlds greatest museums but they oversold the cheap tickets and we could not get in. Bah!
Interesting goods for sale .
Worth visiting for both art and architecture
If I can give zero start I will !
Was expecting more of the Asian exposition.
The most empty and anonymous museum I ever seen! Google, why we cant score zero star?
Amazing things to shop
Frank Loid is awesome
Good visit, amazing views
Great art interesting building
Guggenheim, small and fine!
So much missed opportunity!
Marc Chagall - Vitebsk is in Belarus, not in Russia. :((((((
Pricey but worth it
Crazy cool
Iconic architecture, expensive admission
Exciting experience
Great museum
Overpriced.
Good
Not what it used to be! less is less
Outstanding!!!
Museum mile.
Museum that is also remembered for the external structure (to be admired before and after the visit). Located on 5th Ave, it overlooks Central Park and is located between 88th and 89th E (basically halfway through the park), still remaining on 5th Ave, about 400m after the MET. The architectural charm of the Solomon Museum Guggenheim allows the viewer to appreciate from the beginning what awaits him to admire as for example the large glass cover that can be seen from the first moment in which it enters. The route is made of a spiral ramp and you can walk it effortlessly as the works of art on the right side flank us along the way; they allow repeated stops to be admired. There are some rooms that allow exhibitions of artists. Also present Chagall, Modigliani and Picasso then Kandinsky again to name a few. I went (targeted action) on Saturday afternoon where access is free (an endless line of about 200 meters very composed allows you to quickly arrive at the cashiers who issue a ticket at no cost but that you are invited to do a offer: usually 10 dollars in practice less than half the cost of the ticket). At the exit / entrance there is the presence of a shop that sells souvenirs. The duration of the visit is not less than one / two hours but you could stay a lot but much more. Did you know that there is another Guggenhein Museum in Bilbao in Spain? But if we were to go from Venice they told me that on the Grand Canal we have the Peggy Guggenheim Collection at the Venier dei Leoni palace. See you soon. Bye
It is a site that is architecturally worthwhile, also from the tourist because it is a site that is part of the usual route. Now, from the artistic point of view, it is a real shame, a mockery to those who enter to enjoy art and find “things” that do not deserve to be called works. Some acceptable, and others, the vast majority should not be accepted, they are real frights.Just to say I went through there.
What impressed me, in addition to the splendid exhibition of contemporary art is the wonderful architectural work of Frank Lloyd Wright, particularly inside where it takes you to climb slowly towards the sky surrounded by art. A blinding white that strangely warms you up. Climb to the sky without realizing it. The real and wonderful permanent work of art is the museum itself.
Its worth buying souvenirs about the Museum you just visited! Then the store at the end ...
The buildings architecture is already pure art.Works of art like Picasso, Degas and Manet, were eye candy. There was an exhibition of Giacomettis work and it was worth visiting.I also really enjoyed the exhibition Clap with one Hand, a Chinese work. The videos are quite intriguing.
Only for its architecture it is worth visiting. The interior art shows some are very interesting. I recommend it.
Great, one of the best collections of modern art. A must!!!
Naturally a place to visit for its particular architectural style, if you are going to spend a long stay in Manhattan try to go when you exhibit an artist you like. Included in the CITY PASS!
The store has replicas and souvenirs that represent the museum well.
Unrivaled architecture, works exhibited without comparison, has a shop and cafeteria
Very interesting. Beautiful architecture, various exhibits to see, relaxing visit
For those who like contemporary art and architecture, it is worth the visit. In one day you can see everything. Great to see the current art of the world.
A small museum in its footage, but large in what it intends to exhibit. But not always temporary exhibits are interesting.
Fantastic! It is a very interesting way of seeing art (and it makes a lot of sense). It is also a beautiful collection
