As and added bonus, they have so many video tutorials on Youtube to explain tricky skills or just give you a refresh. Those videos are also the best in class. They get right to the point instead of talking for 5 minutes to introduce what they are going to show you (you know the ones. You have to skip ahead to minute 5 where they actually start to show that Kitchener stitch or whatever). I just cannot say enough good things about Purl Soho. Some may find Purl Soho to be pricey when compared to big box craft stores but there really isnt a comparison. You get what you pay for. With your Purl Soho purchase comes a guaranteed quality and experts to guide you should you need help.

I like this store because they carry yarn made of natural fibers without polyester.During my most recent trip (soon after Christmas) I was hoping to buy baby alpaca grey yarn for a scarf, and couldnt find what I was looking for. The closest yarn to the one I wanted was a bit pricey, and they didnt have enough of it, I would have to wait a week for a new order to get in and I had to finish knitting in 2 days. So I left without buying. Also the store does not offer returns, only exchange or in store credit.

Because I had heard that knitting with linen could be a bit difficult and that winding it the right way was important, I asked a question about winding the yarn in the notes part of the order form. For me, buying fabric is such a tactile experience. Buying fabric online was not easy choice. I considered other sellers due to lower prices but the color choices just spoke to me. When I received my fabric there was an area that had a bit of defected. I wrote an email to see what can be done. The response to my email came back to me within a day! They are sending me replacement. Easy peasy! I was so taken by the customer service that I know Ill have Purl Soho as my go to when I shop for fabric. It truly made my day. Beautiful quality yarns, both their own excellent brand and a few well chosen alternatives, great patterns with a high level of classic style without being too trendy or the least bit stodgy, lovely accessories, and finely curated notions. The customer service is simply the best that I have had the good fortune to experience. I had an issue that was quickly and graciously resolved and they went over and above any expectations in accommodating me. I am so looking forward to the shops reopening but until that happens, ordering online is actually a pleasure as it is easily expedited. Lovely lovely experience. I was so happy to finally be able to visit. The shop is beautiful and well organized. The staff were also beautiful kind knowledgeable helpful and patient with me (a chatty overly excited first time visitor). I loved the samples of knit fabric with tags identifying the yarn and gauge. Most helpful. I took pictures of my favorites to remember for future online purchases (since Im not local).

Everyone here is so kind and knowledgeable. Its expensive yarn but you also get what you pay for. Ill only come with my mom (shes knitting crazy!) and they always ask her if she needs help, and finds what she needs. They also have large clearance/sale bins (pictured), sewing supplies, embroidery hoops and thread, buttons, etc.

This is a wonderful place to shop for yarn online, and patterns! They have excellent quality yarns and patterns from Beginner to Experienced. I only knit, so I refer to that. Whenever I have had a question or problem with a type of yarn or a pattern, the ladies ALWAYS answer quickly and positively.

Purl Soho is my favorite knitting store for so many reasons! A few include that they have the most beautiful selection of yarns and everything else I need for projects. This store is a class act. I live in the rural South, and Ive never visited any of Purl Sohos stores. But I wonder what Im missing because their online store is fantastic. I visit there nearly every day. I like the high quality of their free patterns. Right now Im totally infatuated with their organic cotton yarn, Cotton Pure. Absolutely fantastic customer service. Some of the best Ive ever received.I got a gift card for my sister-in-law and was having issues getting it to process correctly on the website. They responded immediately with quick work around for me, while they needed to work on the technical issues. Technology doesnt always function flawlessly and they made sure that as a customer I was minimally impacted.Unfortunately, the gift card go lost in email spam filters, but once I finally reached out to Purl Sohos customer service, I got an immediate reply with a solution. I want to commend Purl Soho for their response to my issue with yarn that was consistently twisting and hard to work. They got back to me right away, took the complaint seriously, investigated with their supplier and kept in touch each step of the way. And this was during lockdown when Im sure they were already stretched to the limit. I was offered a replacement, and Im very grateful to them for going above and beyond to keep me knitting during the pandemic.

I placed an order with Purl Soho on 14/07/2020, so excited to receive my yarn! I received a postal confirmation of delivery on 17/07/2020. I have compassion for postal services due to the pandemic, however I have not had any errors for months, and never received my order.I have been to the post every other day since 17/07, and every day since 25/07/2020, only to be told it must have been stolen.I notified Purl Soho of the postal issue on 25/07. They immediately responded to me and communicated with me throughout the days and evenings.They told me they have re-shipped my order at no additional cost to me. I am humbled by the integrity of this company, their prompt and compassionate response, and continued communication with me.I am so very grateful to them. I adore the staff here! They love yarn and it shows. Recently I emailed Purl Soho for advice: my knitting project is worked with two yarns held together and I want the colors to complement each other. They answered my color question and gave me feedback on how the textures of different yarns will play together. The end product will be lovelier and my knitting experience more relaxed than if I hadnt emailed them.

Purl Soho has become my go to site for knitting patterns and materials. Their patterns have a contemporary styling which is hard to find elsewhere and the materials that are offered are exceptional. Being an advanced beginner, I have learned much from the question and answer section which follows each pattern and their tutorials have made me braver in tackling techniques that I never would have tried before. But, it is the people who make this site such a wonderful site to shop. They are helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We Canadians also appreciate the flat rate $8. shipping charge. Any experienced knitter has heard of Purl Soho, and so I was eager to visit this store when visiting NYC. I was not disappointed. Picked up 3 patterns, yarn for one of the patterns, quality circular needles, stitch markers and project bags. The employees who assisted me were all very helpful and even tho I was there very close to their closing time, offered to wind the yarn for me! That was really kind of them and much appreciated! ZhaZha at Purl Soho went out of her way to help me knit the gusset of the Twisted Rib mittens. I am a “ pandemic “ knitter and she had the patience and kindness of a kindergarten teacher. Awesome tutorials – even for European Knitters. Its a challenge to convert inches to centimeters, but its worth it. They have also a great customer service via email. Once I have even ordered skeins, which is kind of silly ... if you think of shipment and custom costs. But also worth it anyway.

I have been purchasing from Purl Soho for a while and have always enjoyed receiving the beautifully-wrapped, gorgeous yarns. I also receive great customer service via email - for example: assistance in selecting a colorway or determining what weight yarn will complement another in a specific project. I work in a job that requires me to travel a lot. When living in a difficult and remote posting once, I organized an active (and fun!) knitting group. I advised beginner knitters in that group to order from Purl Soho with the idea that knitting with a scrumptious yarn would be much more motivational than learning with a frumpy yarn. I still endorse that policy! One day I may come visit Purl Soho in person – but it’s not necessary as I receive a wonderful shopping experience remotely.

Purl Soho has always been my go-to source whenever Im in need of a new project. Their patterns, many by Julie Hoover, are compatible with my knitting skills (intermediate) but always have a special touch that makes them interesting. Also their yarns are of top quality. I just finished what I call my pandemic sweater, Addison, knit in Purl Sohos Flax Down, which I love. I had knit the same sweater in the same yarn, different color, last year.Yesterday I went on line to place an order, knowing they were on lock down, so not expecting a quick response. Imagine my delight when later that evening I received an email from Anna telling me that my order would be shipped on Friday.Customer service at Purl Soho is beyond compare.

Lovely selection of yarns unfortunately two of the three staff members I encountered were rude and unhelpful. Really ruined the experience of going out of my way to visit this shop when I was in NYC. The shop was also sold out if the specific yarn I came to buy too which is just bad luck. Shop had a hushed almost libary feel to it, not a great atmosphere.

Finally got to visit! Fabulous yarns, including a bunch of their own lines, loads of patterns and kits. Much of the stock was high up and out of my reach, but the staff is really helpful!
