Ive done both my Open Water certification and just now completed my Advanced Open Water certification with these guys. They are the best. Everyone Ive met is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to as someone who is newer to the scene. Thanks for a really fun weekend Frank and Tomas!

Had a great overall experience taking my PADI Rescue Diver course here! The instructor Kathryn was amazing! I had some issues with my fins during the second day of diving, and she managed to work me into the remaining scenarios and finished the course well. I also took my Open Water pool sessions here years ago and it was great too. Highly recommend taking your PADI courses here.

I had a great experience doing my Open Water certification pool dives with Pan Aqua. Karen and Michael were excellent teachers! They were careful and attentive during instruction, and responsive to my questions and requests afterwards. If I decide to get further certifications, they’ll be first on my list!

Amazing customer service. I was in town just for a short time with a dove trip coming up and needed some items quickly. They were extremely helpful and let me take my time selecting things. Even encouraged me to not rush because it was closing time. They locked the doors and told me not to rush. It was so nice of them. They didn’t have my first choice in stock so I had to go through several other alternatives. I found something eventually am very grateful for the flexibility. I will be back for more dive gear in the future.

Ive been diving with Pan Aqua for years, having originally done my Open Water course with Loraine at the 92nd Street Y. Ive since gone on organized trips with them to Mexico and the Caymans and completed several advanced certifications. Most recently I was lucky enough to work with Thomaz, effectively as a private lesson, to complete my Dry Suit certification at Dutch Springs. Everyone has always been professional, friendly, and eager to teach you something new.

This place is amazing. I did my confined water dives for PADI open water dive here. Karen is a super patient and knowledgeable instructor and every single person inside the shop is extremely nice and helpful at all stages. Would not go anywhere else in the city if youre trying to learn for the first time.

I shopped at this shop because it was local and had good reviews. In general the reviews are accurate. They do give you time to look around and make a decision. It can be hard to tell if this was politeness or neglect. I was not served by the owner till I returned the item because it was unneeded after a three week vacation when I was told that there is a two week return policy. I dont know if this was made up on the spot or not but I have never heard of a two week return policy in any other shop in NYC and was not informed of this when I asked by phone before returning. It has mostly very expensive merchandise. Buyer beware.Like any specialty merchandise, it pays to do research before you enter. Scuba gear has been extensively reviewed on the web in blogs, etc. Many dive shops including this one seem to select the most expensive brands which may not be at all necessary. You dont want equipment failure but most of that depends on maintenance. The best equipment will fail without that.

My 12 year old son and two of his friends recently completed their Open Water certification with Pan Aqua. I can not say enough good things about the whole experience and staff. At every step the team made the boys feel very comfortable. In particular Donald Stahl and Diver Dave provided great guidance and training in the pool and open water. Thanks guys for hooking the boys into a life long activity of exploration.

I did my confined water dive and knowledge course here with Maria Hults half a year ago and recently completed my certification during my vacation in Mexico.I think that the instructors here are a lot more thorough and went above and beyond what is needed for the certification in order to best prepare their students for diving. I am glad that I trained here before my vacation

I can not thank Peter Miklatek enough for all he did to teach me how to scuba dive!!! He is so patient and genuinely a kind human being that cares about educating his students. Being an educator myself this experience exceeded my expectations and he actually taught me more about how to be a great teacher. I am flying down to Miami to complete my open water dives in 11 days, and I can not wait to start diving in all the cool places I have heard about!!! Thanks to Peter, he made this dream a reality.Prior to class, I was really nervous about diving but he eased me into each skill and before I knew it, scuba diving became more comfortable and then eventually super fun. Im really sorry class is over. It was the highlight of my semester...heading to scuba class.I highly recommend picking him as an instructor!! He will inspire you and teach you how to do something that is so relaxing and fun!! I also highly recommend Pan Aqua and what I learned with Peter was truly inspirational.

Wonderful scuba shop that offers classes, trips, rentals, and equipment. I was first introduced to pan aqua as i was researching for a scuba certification class and they were in the area. They offer PADI certification courses with classroom time and pool time all on premise as the Manhattan plaza health club is next door with a pool. Took the course with Peter as a instructor and he was very knowledgeable and gave ample one on one student time to each student. The written exam is at the end of the course and you have the option to take your open dives at Dutch Kills which they offer trips to. They also have trips to exotic places for scuba trips. Ive also rented dive computers here for my scuba trips to the Caribbean at great rental prices and all equipment was top notch and worked well on my trips. They also have various scuba equipment here and all were at great prices. Purchased fins and a mask here and was satisfied with my purchase and customer service. The service was wonderful and offered knowledgeable advice. They also offer refresher 1 hour courses here for anyone who has a PADI cert but needs a refresher for a new scuba trip at a great price. For all my scuba diving needs i would definitely visit Pan Aqua and recommend them for sure.

Excellent. In addition to expert advice on masks, regulators, computers and dive trips, this is aplace that can salvage victory from disaster. We all flew out to The Solomon Islands for ten days of diving on a live aboard, only to find the engine had quit. The staff scrambled, taking us on shore dives, wreck diving, treated us like gods and gaveus a full refund.Meanwhile, The Staff of Pan Aqua ( Peter) got on his satellite telephone and set me upwith 6 days of diving in Fiji. Just like that.An amazing time, would do it again in aheartbeat.

Took the classroom part of the open water course there. Our instructor, Peter, was great and patient with us (we were apprehensive about diving with a lot of questions). The staff there are available for tips on diving and equipment and run great trips to a local dive spot in PA. Highly recommend the course for anyone who wants to learn diving in a comfortable environment with enthusiastic instructors.

I have had a terrific experience with Pan Aqua over the past two years. I took my PADI Open Water certification with them, which they made very enjoyable. I have subsequently gone on to get my Advance Open Water, Nitrox and Dry Suit certifications, all with different instructors and found them all to be very competent and clearly their enthusiasm rubbed off. In addition, they have been very knowledgeable and helpful in getting me suited up. A big shout out to Jim, Lorraine, Peter, Donald, Kathryn and others for their great service!

Pros:Employees are knowledgeableGood customer serviceConvenientEquipment is pretty decentDiving staff is very experienced and patientCons:Obnoxiously over pricedYou get nickeled and dimed on the classes which ends up costing around $1k (for basic open water dive certification)They try to force you to buy their stuff and make you feel guilty if you dont.Would I recommend? Yes, if you have a lot if money. Are there other places that are cheaper? Yes, much much cheaper.

Just started diving about 2.5 years ago, and these guys are the great. Let’s talk about why:1) CLASSES. I took my open water with them, dry suit, a quick EFR class, and am taking navigation and search and recovery. Oh, and shark specialization, underwater photography and drift diving. So, yeah... I like their instructors. It’s nice that they have the pool right upstairs.2) TRIPS: have signed up for three and probably will sign up for a fourth. Their Grand Cayman trip was really just perfect. Kathryn the trip leader was a blast, and super helpful. A great mix of beginner divers, middle of the pack divers, and super-experienced divers were on the trip with me. Didnt know any of them going in, and now consider them friends. Honestly can’t think of anything I’d have changed. Price was great... in fact I priced out going back there by myself, and it would have cost more for 3 days by myself than it did the 6 days I had with Pan Aqua. My next trip is to Fiji, and the trip leader is Frank, who seems equally as awesome.3) GEAR: I’ve rented stuff from them and it’s been perfect. I’ve bought stuff from them and the prices match anyone else’s. I’ve not bought anything used, so I can’t speak to that.4) CUSTOMER SERVICE: this is where they really stand out. Plenty of folks there so youre not waiting for help. Yet they’re not all over you either. I was actually talked out of fins that were twice the price (I liked the pink color... but it was true that they just weren’t the right fin for me.)Everyone here is a ridiculously experienced diver, which is not the case with all the shops in town. Not to name names, but let’s just say the dive store that rhymes with “Seizure Slow” is basically a call center fulfillment and none of the salespeople there even dive.I haven’t shopped at every dive shop in NYC, but after dealing with PanAqua— I really don’t need to.CONS: Pan Aqua refuses to heat up the entire Atlantic Ocean, forcing me to travel elsewhere if I want to dive in tropical waters. Such a bummer.

Pan Aqua Diving is an excellent dive shop, and their courses are outstanding as well. I completed Open Water Certification with Pan Aqua Diving in summer 2016, and completed the Enriched Air Diver Course with Pan Aqua in January 2017. The staff at the store (including Peter, Lorraine, Derek, Rushawn, and Devon) are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and have lots of great information to share with new divers.I purchased all of my scuba gear at Pan Aqua, and the staff offered great recommendations on gear choices. I have used all of my Pan Aqua gear on open ocean dives, and it has all performed perfectly. For the Open Water Diver Course, my Instructors and Divemasters (including Dave and Sean) were all very friendly and were clearly experts in their craft. The Open Water course was a great experience, and Pan Aquas course prepared me for open ocean diving. The Enriched Air Course at Pan Aqua prepared me to dive safely using Nitrox tanks, and since completing that course Ive used Nitrox tanks several times on dives.I plan to continue to take courses with Pan Aqua, and continue to get insight and advice from their expert staff as I continue my scuba journey. I highly recommend Pan Aqua to all divers and prospective divers - they are an excellent resource for people who are passionate about scuba.
