Maybe one of my favorite places that we visited here. and it was a shot in the dark because my wife wanted an egg breakfast and we stayed in Chinatown. Go figure. But surprisingly very good. I believe its a Korean place. I had the egg, cheese, bacon sando. And my wife had their breakfast burrito. Both were delicious!!!
I’ve wanted to try Golden Diner for so long. I live less than a mile from there and I finally made it. It was so amazing. The staff were so super friendly and the food was delicious. I was a little hungry so I ordered the chicken wings, the vegan nachos and the chicken Katsu sandwich with fries. I cried a little when I ate. I did bring home a few leftovers but everything was delicious. We had the Tres Leches for dessert and that was incredible too. I can’t wait to go back.
Boring food made well, but still boring. The mushroom quesadilla was flat and uninspiring; the horseradish sauce was the most interesting part. The Thai tea coffee cake was a simple coffee cake. The breaded chicken sandwich was fine, nothing to call home about. Despite the restaurant being well staffed, the waitress was inattentive and we and other tables had to call the waitress to get her attention every time.
Been here at least thrice now and every time was great! Food (chicken katsu, egg sando, and thai iced tea coffee cake) was consistently good. Got the buttery fluffy pancakes every time. Lived up to the hype every time.I’m grateful they screen for vaccination status; this helps keep the staff and the customers safe. Obvs.
Cons:* Prices are high, way too high for Chinatown* Place is literally underneath a bridge. Youre going to hear a train blasting through every few minutes as if youre on a subway platform* The place is small* Wait times are long. I recommend getting there at least 20 minutes before opening otherwise youre waiting for an hourPros:* Food tastes decent* Servers are nice* Best quality American style food in Chinatown
Phenomenal meal, everything was well-executed, thoughtful, and delicious. Restaurant was busy (on a Tuesday) and short-staffed, but friendly and helpful throughout. Chicken Katsu Club pictured. Wine menu is great, the Thai Cobb was also fantastic, cant wait to go back.Of note: outside tables can be noisy because of the bridge overhead...
The Kale Parmesan Biscuits with Gravy was a good, intriguing entree. It was something I never had the pleasure of trying nor did I ever try anything similar. It would be advisable to reserve a table before coming here. I had the fortune of coming during its opening time and the tables quickly filled up.
My first time at Golden diner, and it was surprisingly excellent. Golden Diners tuna melt is very flavorful and what I would call a perfect tuna melt. The chicken katsu is a delightful blend of a BLT and a juicy, crispy katsu sandwich. The Korean fried chicken from Golden diner is crisp and delicious with the sweet, savory sauce on the wings. Everything I tried at the Golden diner was perfect, including the refreshing yuzuade.
Golden Diner had an amazing breakfast. I had the pancakes with eggs and bacon. My wife had the omelette and my little one who has mad food allergies had sausage and fries. The food was so delicious and the coffee was really good also. We will definitely come back here the next time we visit NY.
Trisha and team provided above and beyond service! In freezing temps, kept refilling our cups with hot water and drip coffee. Outdoor seating was study - warm with overhead heaters, 2 open sides for air flow, partition between parties. Food was hot, and flavors on point. Added bacon to the soft scramble sandwich, chicken katsu was massive, and ended the meal with a delicately flavored matcha crumb cake
Cool/hip downtown vibe, justifying its long wait times to be seated and higher than typical prices. The food is good, but heavy. I wouldn’t come hear if I was health conscious. I’d come here if I’m hungover.
No words. 10 out of 10. Speechless. Ive never had a bad night at Golden Diner. The specials are out of this world (looking at you, oxtail risotto) and the regular menu is the gift that keeps on giving. I still think about their tuna melt and thats the first thing I rave to any Golden D virgin.
Food was good. Wait staff needs better training. Took some left over to go and someone who packed them put poured all the Fried chicken wings oily soy juice into our pancake. So the sweet pancake tasted like garlic soy sauce. Yuk!
Sorry for the red photos 🤦🏻♀️ the heat lamps are very red LOL (but also very warm).Personally, I’ve been to so many korean fushion restaurants so I wasn’t totally impressed; however, I applaud the creativity brought to old favorites of mine. For ex, the Jamaican ddukboki is such a nice twist to a classic dish + the Seoullangtang risotto. The fried chicken wings were just okay. Overall, enjoyed the meal.
A LES fusion spot for Asian twist on American food.We ordered cold brew coffee w/ milk along with Chinatown egg & cheese sando(sandwich) w/ bacon, which had perfect eggs. The hash browns were perfectly done and crispy. We also ordered Kale & Parmesan Biscuits & Gravy with dill and parsley garnish. Don’t take my word for it or how good the photo looks, give them a try. You will not be disappointed. The biscuits were crispy and the gravy was delicious! Highly recommend and will definitely go back here again! The staff was covid friendly and had sanitizers and outdoor seating available.
When: Thursday at 6pmParty Size: 16+ with reservationI was a little skeptical coming here with coworkers, but I left impressed. Diner food with an Asian twist to each.I dont remember everything we got, but pretty much tried everything on the menu and it didnt disappoint. All the dishes were flavorful, colorful, and made with love. The burger, chicken wings, and fried squid were my favorites.Service: 10/10Fast, friendly, glasses were always full.Ambiance: 6/10Its a really small place with a diner feel. Not great for large groups.Overall: 7/10Id come back for sure if Im in the area.
Probably the best chicken katsu sando I’ve had for a long time. The concept of Golden Diner is interesting - it’s Asian fusion diner food. The chef is a Momofuku Ko alum of Korean descent. This is a beautiful sandwich featuring some crispy katsu, blt, cabbage saw with tonkatsu & mayo sauce stuffed in three layers of milk bread. I can eat this every day.
This restaurant has the highest rating in the entire city! I came here just a week ago to try some of your most well-known recipes. I was quite impressed with the food and service they provided. I thanked the waiter for bringing my order so quickly. It was a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere that made an impression on me. You guys have five stars! All should look into it!
Small diner done exceptionally well. Can confidently say it was the best club sandwich I have ever had. The staff was very hospitable even when we arrived 15 minutes before closing, which is the sign of true service professionals. All dishes we shared were great. They serve beer and wine. Mentioned they would be expanding to dinner hours soon. Worth the visit if in the area and in the mood for hearty comfort food.
Really great food, fun atmosphere and chill servers, looking forward to returning.
2.16.20 - hands down surprisingly good. Probably a 4 star resto, but I need to revisit to experience consistency. The pricing is reasonable, which Im thankful for, but that might be a function of the location. The food volume amd quality to price is what will keep me coming back. What will make me reluctant is the wait time to get a seat, but thats mainly on the weekends.Really nice staff and they dont make you feel le they are doing you a favor for dining at their space. I really hope the staff keeps up the good karma. The food is tasty, filling, and thrilling to look at.Overall, I recommend!
My favourite neighbourhood place reopened! Best Smashed Avo (aka Avocado Toast) in The City and the perfect balance of classic diner fare with plenty of Vegan options
This place is OK. I wanted to see what Korean fusion diner was like. The location is pretty terrible and any hopes of a relaxed vibe is killed by the dismal outdoor setup under the bridge.Pancakes are fine, yes they are good. Korean wings were tasty. I just think for what it is you might as well go to an actual Korean restaurant or real diner.
Great service, great food. Get that katsu chicken sandwich. Itll put you to sleep in a happy way.My one warning... The outdoor dining is outdoor, and under a bridge with 4 MTA train lines running on it. Its loud.Bring some ear plugs. The sandwich is that good.
Lots of news about this restaurant as a James Beard new restaurant finalist, and the chef being ex momofuku. The food was flavorful and very cheap - for a group of 5, we were $25 per head including tip. The food is not fully Chinese, not fully Western, and the decor pays strong homage to its name. Service was spotty with only one server working the floor.
Great restaurant in Two Bridges. The chicken wings are super crispy and crunchy. The mushroom quesadilla is super smoky and umami rich. The pancakes are amazing. They are big and fluffy and sweet and rich. Go by yourself, bring a date, bring your third wheels! All will appreciate.
Wow! Impeccable service and the Monte Cristo French toast was amazing!
Fantastic fusion food and great service. Every dish we tried was amazing. Only downside is that its quite noisy outside, because its right next to a train overpass.
Took an entire hour to deliver a small order. Food was ok. Wings were the best thing. Pancakes way to buttery. I did not like the burrito at all.
The burrito and the egg sando were absolutely amazing! We also tried the maple butter pancakes with berries which are to die for if you like a little bit of sweetness
Went there on Sunday 12/15 and it was an amazing experience. My GF took me there and she recommended me to get the burger, excellent choice and must get the special sauce (extra $2, but it’s worth it) and she got the Chinese breakfast sandwich. Food was amazing, service was incredible and loved the spanish music. I loved the mixed culture feeling as soon as I stepped in. Friendly staff all together and super cool.
Strongly recommended! This was the first time I visited this restaurant, and I am very grateful to my friends for telling me about your Restaurant. Their people were very helpful, accommodating, and welcoming. Your overall service was also affordable and awesome! You are totally highly recommended to all!
So many establishments get the basic breakfast all wrong. Overcooked scrambled eggs, dried out bacon, basic home fries. But not these guys. Golden Diner hits a home run when it comes to the fundamentals of cooking the basics to perfection. It’s a lost art, in my opinion.Plus the servers are extremely friendly. So I’ll be back....and then back again....
Great place for a bite! It has a classic diner feel with some asian cuisine influences. The place is a bit small so definitely come early or come during off times. I think they do Yelp waitlist so definitely do that to save yourself some time.My partner and I came on a Saturday night at 6ish and there was no wait. However, more people started showing up as we were halfway through our meal so it does get filled up later in the night. For food I got the seasonal bibimbap and my partner got the chicken Katsu sando. The bibimbap used fresh seasonal veggies and used some type of grain I don’t remember. The portion was a bit small but the flavors were strong. I think it was vegan friendly too so if you’re looking for that then this is a good option. I think they are well known for their chicken Katsu sando and I could see why. First off, it’s huge. It’s very filling even for one person. My favorite part was the chicken and the slaw. The chicken was juicy and had a nice crunch. The slaw with the bulldog sauce was so good. Tangy and crunchy. For dessert we got their seasonal apple bingsoo. It was refreshing and if you like apples it’s like eating apple pie! Will have to come back to try more of their menu!
An excellent addition to the neighborhood. this is straight up good food made with great ingredients. im looking forward to dinner and enjoying an expanded menu thats coming in the near future. yes, the matzo ball soups is great. i had the chicken katsu club sandwich with some very nice french fries.
Decent brunch spot but problably won’t come back. The food was okay, cocktails was good but expensive. The golden cheeseburger with fries & pickle was only okay & cost $18.5, fruit punch was $12. Chicken katsu sub was nice & crunchy. The small vegan burrito that our friend had was super expensive ($19 because of vegan cheese, egg tofu replacement & added avocado).Had to wait over 2hrs for table of 4 (put our name at 12:30, place was packed, the table before us was taking forever to leave, but felt like the host could have arranged it much better). Only okay food + extensive wait time = won’t be back
A surprising find, somewhat unique and we loved everything we ate. I got the noodle special, and we shared the Thai tea tres leches cake special. I recommend they make the dessert a permanent fixture in their menu. I also appreciate the stringent covid caution.
Everything on the menu is great you can’t go wrong
This place is a true gem! Was lucky enough to sit at the counter and watch Sam, the chef and owner, and his #2 prepare all the foods with dedication and care. The quality is supreme which makes all the difference with simple breakfast foods. Sam checked the temperature and quality of every burrito and sandwich and would send it back or prepare it again if it did not reach his standards. The egg sandwich was a soft bun with a crunchy hash brown toast and melt in your mouth eggs. The combination of textures was amazing and delicious. The burrito was delicious, with pico de gallo creating a different taste sensation when combined with hash crunch, eggs and soft wrap.Golden Diner sure to become my favorite regular spot although its sure to become super crazy popular soon which will make it tough. Enjoy!!!
As a very regular customer, it’s only right that I finally post a review. Golden diner is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, with consistently amazing food. You cannot go wrong with anything on the innovative menu — please support this amazing business!
Best pancakes I’ve ever had, hands down. Super friendly helpful service too
I love the concept of this place. Diner food with international influences had me sold.Mains:Like a typical diner, the menu is massive. I just wish I had ten mouths and stomachs instead of one of each. For whatever reason, instead of getting one of many eggy or pancake-y options, I decided to get the cod roe pasta special. I have a weak spot for mentaiko pasta (cod roe). This rendition was just a-ok. It came out a little on the lukewarmy side and was a bit too mushy for my taste. Id prefer my pasta more al dente. My boyfriend did himself right by getting the chicken katsu sandwich. This is probably one of their staples, if I had to guess. He enjoyed his meal whole-heartedly.Dessert: We got the Thai tea tres leches cake, and it sealed the deal for me. I will be coming back here.Drinks: They ran out of makgeolli so the waiter recommended the makku beer which he said was similar (also a rice alcoholic drink). I have to give it to him—it was pretty good.NB: This place is pretty hard to find / out of the way. But dont be discouraged. It is well worth a detour.
Perfect!! American food with an Asian flare is just what China Town needed. No other place like this in the area. Food is delicious. The chef and staff are kind and attentive. I had the sausage, spinach and cheddar cheese omelet with the hash browns which were golden brown and crispy. Will definitely be going back for lunch and dinner soon.
Super delicious breakfast and lunch options here. The unique special summer salad inspired by bibimbap was so flavorful and refreshing! Cant wait to try their dinner options when they expand their menu.Great vibe and restaurant layout. Please increase your AC power for these hot days!Strong recommend. Already been here twice!
One of the best burgers around. The fries and yuzuade are amazing.
This place is it! Service is just as good as the food. We’ve come twice and Trish really took care of usOrder the burger and the pancakes for sure
This is possibly the best fluffy pancakes Ive ever had.
The food is incredible here and the service is always great. I would recommend you try them out if youre near by.
This is a diner with tremendous ambition and creativity. All of the dishes are well conceived and well executed. Eating outdoors under the soundscape of the Manhattan bridge is a true New York City experience.
The food and the service was not up to Par maybe it was a bad day. I honestly feel my wife and I Should be given some kind of compensation
Love this place. Food is Fantastic and the people working there are so lovely.Quality price excellent.
Very cute outdoor dining situation. Their burger is amazing! Katsu sandwich also great. Definitely recommend
Best diner ever. I’ve been coming for over a year and recently had a group dinner outside for my birthday. Golden Diner set up a special menu for my party and reserved the seating away from other guests (social distancing). My guests felt comfortable and the food was cooked to perfection! Highly recommend the wings, burger and chicken katsu.Support your local businesses in 2020!
Worst Korean Wings I’ve had so far
Super yummy tuna melt and great service
One of my favourites here in Two Bridges! Everything they make here is really good and also unique. Im a very big fan of the Avocado Toast, Chicken Katsu and definitely the fries.
So damm delicious and so damn filling. The Golden Punch and Yuzu Palmer were refreshing. The Golden Cheeseburger was melt in your mouth perfection, with an addictive sauce. The Chicken Katsu Club looks, smells and tastes amazing. The Green Tea Coffee Cake was the best way to end the lunch. Chef Sam Yoo is a friendly food wizard. The staff was very nice and helpful. Great experience. Highly recommend.
Everything here is delish! What a gem in the neighborhood. Dont forget to order a slice of the Green Team Coffee Cake.
Made to wait 15 minutes for a bar stool only to be told that we had to prove our vaccination status. Don’t bother, go somewhere else!
Believe it or not .. this establishment is small on the outside but they do (wonders) with the food on the inside. I had the biscuits and chicken gravy with sausages on the side and it was A1.. hats off to the Chef👏🏾
My kale biscuits and gravy were a bit too salty
Fresh sourced ingredients, delicious Korean inspired menu options. Winning dish for this visit was the seasonal bibimbap bowl🥣, refreshingly & creative use of summer veggies like sweet corn, watermelon radish, eggplant and fennel with the creamy barley base that ties it all together.Side note on the outdoor dining: the passing subways overhead on the Manhattan Bridge can be a little noisy. Not anything we could do about it, just adds to the new norm for dining out.
The food is incredible! I especially loved the burger (woah!), chicken katsu club, Korean chicken wings and noodle “special” (creative Asian take on vongole). The “diner” portion of the name is a bit of a misnomer because the food quality is on par with the latest and great new American restaurant. However, you wouldn’t expect that from the reasonable prices. I tried dinner but can’t wait to come back for breakfast options.
Went to Golden Diner with my grandson, what a wonderful place. Staff was just lovely and the food was de-licious!
So great Golden Diner is still making a go through the pandemic. We really miss sitting down there. Even so, the breakfast burrito travels like a champ. The new Rueben quesadilla crushes it. Matzo ball soup outstanding. Great food by people who love making food.
**Ordered takeout during COVID pandemic (forget french fries & pickle in order)Food*Chicken Katsu Club (chicken cutlet, BLT, red cabbage slaw, bulldog sauce) - good; the sauce was interesting*Korean Fried Chicken Wings (garlic kochujang glaze) - OK*Vegan Grilled Cheese (Smoked gouda & pepperjack cheese on garlic oil/griddled white bread) - OK
