This special desert bar is one of my favorite date places. Intimate space with very special hand made deserts and wine pairings. Tea and specialty drinks served and hosted by professional friendly people. Had a great time here and the atmosphere and effort put forward by the team here is what we all need and appreciate. Clean and covid compliant.
I heard great things about this place but was disappointed to be honest, since I had so much expectation.I reserved for prix fixe course, great presentation but not great taste. Ordered the strawberry short cake and crepe cake, strawberry short cake was okay but personally think lady m crepe cake is far better. Everything else was just okay..
What a fun experience! For those unfamiliar, youll have to wait in line outside (inside seating is limited), but its worth it.When you get seated youll have a tasting menu of constantly changing, and elevated, desserts. Theyre small, so you will have room to try a bunch. It was a blast! We enjoyed every bite, loved the experience, and everyone there was very nice! Highly recommended!
We dropped by to pick up desserts on our way back and it didn’t take too long. They have both simple and unique desserts on the menu. I had their strawberry shortcake which was a big step up from the average strawberry shortcake, with diced strawberries and strawberry cream in between each layer. Definitely a treat and would love to go again to try their other desserts. Our take away bag came with cutlery and napkins as well.
I visited ChikaLicious Dessert Dessert Bar on Sunday night with my daughter after having dinner around the corner at Panna II. We both wanted a little something sweet before heading back to our hotel. They were closing in about 15 minutes and said they had time to serve us. On the menu the prices were understood to be $11.00 so we ordered 2 desserts. When we got the bill the total was $55. for two desserts (about $67. With tip). I don’t care what the price is, as long as it is fair, but getting ripped off is a problem. The desserts were lacking in every was from bland to blander. I understand that ingredient costs are high. With that being said they should do their best to make something delicious than. I speak from having won baking championships in the past and personally do not recommend ChikaLicious.
Was going through my list for my next trip to NYC and thought I left a review here. Since I didn’t, I would like to leave a review now.I booked a table through a call with someone from the team. And got an email says the time needs to be adjusted. I sent the email back confirmed it’s okay. We ended up running a little late, I tried to call in but no one answered. When we got there, we’ve been asked to sit outside, it was so hot so we said no, I told the team member we had a reservation and I’m sorry we were running a little late, Ive been trying to call. He was not nice and told me that they never answer the call… I’m just speechless, my suggest is ditch your phone then… it’s just seemed like they never even saved a table for us. finally, we got seated at a table right by the window in the narrow hallway where the sunlight hit us right on our face. I work at an interior studio, I’m sure it’s illegal to place a table at that spot. Anyways, we were not in the mood to eat anything since the light it’s literally spot on our faces, we ordered a slice of cake, the whole experience was horrible. I told the server our experience and how we thought it’s unfair and it’s was not nice the way we got treated. The guy who hosted us at the first place ended up coming to us and asked how we made the reservation at the first place and what was the name on the reservation. He then mentioned there are people leaving and we can get seated over there. I told him I’m not in the mood answering all those since I already told him at the first place…That host is giving me that type of vibe, like when you going to a popular restaurant, they see it as it’s an honor that you are offered to get hosted in that place…it’s not worth it at all, the cake is good, but it’s not anything special.Wanted to add this after seeing the response. They let me made a reservation at least a week before my trip to New York and the email was sent right after I ended the call with them. Just don’t let me make the reservation at the first place then… it’s not that difficult to admit your team made a mistake…
It was good but for the price, it was a bit underwhelming.Food - 3/5Dessert are pricey for what you get. I ordered what came out to be 2 spoons of ice cream in a plastic cup with a shot of espresso for $11.Ambiance 5/5Both jndoor and outdoor dining available. Glass partition between tables indoor. A little small but cozyService 4/5I think waiter meant well but he could come off as a bit rude. The rest of the staff was really friendly. Everyone was wearing mask and following protocols
Excellent desserts!! Very nice staff 😌
Dessert course for $19 and $9 for tea. $28 + tip for decent dessert. it is very tiny space so you might not have high-tea/afternoon tea type of luxurious time here. Many people are waiting while you are eating. You feel rushed. Also tea quality was disappointing.Presentation was great but tea quality was not so great. It’s very unfortunate. Hope staff learn how to brew better.Cheesecake was pretty good.
This shop is an amazing experience. The desserts were so delicate and tasty without being too sweet. Each dish is so complex yet so simple, in the best way.But that’s not the best part... I got to sit at the bar and watch Chika meticulously craft each dessert that was being served in the shop that afternoon which made it even more special. Her staff was very friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to go back and bring all my friends.
This is such a wonderful place for a date night, girls night out or any special celebration. It is small but the tight space allows you a close up view as the chef assembles and plates each dish. There are two tables for small groups but the counter seats are the best in the house. The desserts were artfully presented. A definite must try.
Absolutely amazing experience. A little expensive for just desert, but well worth it. You don’t get to have black pepper sorbet with tomato jelly every day! The cheesecake was smooth and probably one of the best I’ve had. I also tried the chocolate tart (delicious!) and despite the location being small it was an enjoyable experience.
Do not be fooled by the negative reviews. The feature here is the Creme Brûlée Donut. Everything else is just a delicious cherry on top, but come for the warm, sweet and savory eggy creme brûlée donut and you won’t be disappointed. This is our go to spot when we are in Manhattan. Can’t leave without one. Also, have had the Mille cake, chocolate chip cookie, and banana creme puff (which was outstanding) but again, this is about one thing and one thing only: the donut. Finally, the folks who work here are the best and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Get their donuts and tell all your friends.
This place has always been special! All the desserts are amazing and inventive. Recently my office ordered some of the bento boxes and everyone loved having the options and choices of items to choose between. As wonderful as it is to sit in and watch Chika make her creations during normal times the to go is perfect during covid when youre looking for something special and different.
My magic place when back in NY and really want to have a proper dessert out with awesome pairing !
My friends and I came here for dessert after a nice lunch around the area. Small place but I really like how the master chef prepares her desserts. She pays attention to details and makes sure every one of her work stays consistent and beautiful. I would recommend anyone to definitely try it if they are in the area!
Beautiful and delicious, just as I remembered. Everything is delicate, balanced, melt-in-your-mouth amazing.
Went there for a date night. Personally, I do NOT have a sweet tooth and actually do not appreciate desserts, but this place surprised me!! The desserts were light, subtle, elegantly presented. We had no reservations and I guess we waited for about 15 minutes to get in, probably we got lucky considering it was a weekend! But it was well worth the wait
Love it! Chikalicious is indeed so delicious! The chef is so nice calm and great service! The stuff are lovely. And the desserts, ohh the desserts !I tried the white chocolate mousse with pineapples and was sooooooo good! I could eat lots more of this at one shot 😋😋.Also the premium latte is so smooth and good !I will be back for sure!
The best part about a Japanese take on desserts is that they somehow manage to present the core of a dessert while making it so much more delicate. There is nothing overpowering any one sensation so you can truly appreciate the ingredients that go into crafting each dessert.
This places is great. I came here for my birthday this past weekend. The host at the door was incredibly nice & offered some wine to us while we waited for a table. I got the cheesecake. It wasnt at all what I was expecting, but it was incredible. Very dense and unique. Its so fun to watch them plate your desserts because its definitely an art form that they take very seriously.
Tea is better than the dessert for me, the taste did not impressed me and even if you see the open kitchen, they are not making the dessert in front of you. They are just heating the cookie or taking the cheesecake out from the refrigerator. And it doesn’t taste like cheese at all. But for the very aromatic tea and the very nice vibe I am still giving it a 4 star. Also, they will let you wait outside until the seats are available cuz it is too compact inside the bar. So don’t go during their busy hours, i was freezing with my friends in the cold waiting for them to call us in.
The dessert course was fantastic, but service could be better. The reservation email said to not arrive later than 5 minutes after the reserved time, but no one ever greeted us until twenty minutes after. The chefs are lovely, but I think there’s not enough staff, which makes sense because the place is also super small. Maybe only good enough for a one time experience.
Still great deserts, new location is better than last — but deserts have been lacking in quality and likely due to Covid.
Where else can you go for dessert and get appetizer, main and dessert set course? This small but cozy place does exactly that. You are presented with menu to pick you main dessert dish (about $28) and youll be also given an appetizer and dessert. I love the idea of this. Also their cheesecake is awesome!
Amazing desserts that are so very complex in its own way. They might seem pricy at $18 a dessert but lets face it, they make a three corse meal out desserts. They start with a super light sorbet and give you want you order and end it with 3 amazing petite desserts that include rolled rum, coconut marshmellow and chocolate short bread. The head chef Chika plates all these wonderful desserts in front of you! So you get to have a master class if you are an aspiring baker or even just a person who enjoys seeing! It is a super tiny place but Ive never seen this place host less than 5 people ! A definite must try place if you are around, specially if you are one to enjoy some complex flavors!!
Great place to go to give your palette a whirl! You select a main dessert but it also comes with an amuse bouche to start and petit fours for after. Started off with coffee ice cream and star anise jelly - wow, strong flavours but worked well together. My cheesecake tasted a bit like a light yogurt - lovely for a hot day and a good sized portion it looked like, compared to the other desserts. My husband ordered the chocolate tart which was great! My only comment would be - make the main dessert slightly bigger! From what I could see a lot of them were petit four sized (except the cheesecake). Loved seeing the chef serve up right in front of you - I have learned a bit about plating up and making quenelles!
I showed up wanting cheesecake, but I got a 3 course dessert. It was a pleasant surprise. The dessert is prepared in front of you if you’re seated at the bar. And it is delicious. I enjoyed trying different desserts and having the star of the night (what I went for) not disappoint. The place is small, not much room. You do have to wait to be seated before entering the restaurant.I did not expect the experience, but it was a good one. I would suggest making a stop here.
I grabbed 4 cookies on the way home. I stopped by this place by total accident on a very cold winter say. I would say best cookies I ever had. They were warm, gooey and so delicious! I will have to come back to try more deserts.
Delicious dessert. My gf and I loved the experience. They even charged our phones.
As delicious as I remembered. Haven’t been back here since pandemic and I’m so happy they’re still here! Got the cremebrulee donut for myself and the fam. TOO GOOD!!! And wonderful and attentive service as expected ~
Absolutely stunning find, one of those only in New York places thats an absolute must-try. Chef Chika is highly skilled, but these desserts are extra special because of the chefs innovative skills. Our amuse-bouche was an anise sorbet paired with a coffee gel, a pairing I never would have put together but found absolutely delicious. I chose the warm chocolate tart, which came with a peppercorn sorbet--again, never would have thought to create this dish, but I found it stunning, with just the right amount of bite to counter the irresistible creaminess of the warmed chocolate. My boyfriend chose the melon sorbet duo in tequila cream sauce, which was so refreshing and the perfect summer dish. The petits-fours at the end were lovely as well. We both chose to pair with dessert wine, which I probably wouldnt do again as Im not a huge fan of dessert wine and found that the dishes were good enough on their own that the wine didnt add much. However, for those that enjoy dessert wine, its certainly worth the money. All in all, a fantastic experience.
Dessert: 3/5Service: 1/5The dinning time period was only 20 minutes but we were kept there for another 40 minutes cause the waiter forgot our check even thought I brought it up for THREE times! I really wanted to leave and lost all of my patience in the end.Btw it was Chief Chika who took our orders, poured water twice, and took away our plates after we finished . . . It was not crowded at all either . . .
Absolutely fantastic! I will definitely be returning!
This place is a very creative approach to Japanese influenced desserts. The chef puts a lot of love into each dessert and everything is done in front of you which is a fun experience itself. The wait can be a bit depending on time of day and smaller size of location but the experience is worth it. There is really no wrong choice here.
Very good desserts and cocktails! Service was a little slow due to understaffing. I come back but not late in a Saturday night.
The dessert was honestly amazing! 10/10 you all should go! I also made a TikTok about this place @dreamgirlfahima
Favorite dessert bar in the city
Chikalicious is my number one dessert spot in town. The owners wife (Chika) does not have a great attitude so I deducted one star. She can be entitled and off putting but since shes a chef at the dessert bar youre kind of forced to interact a bit. Besides that, the food is great and I love bringing my out of town family here.
Small but the dessert are really good.
This place is amazing with friendly staff and owner
I heard about this place for a few years now but always fall short on going here with every visit to NYC. I finally made it here this December. They open at 3pm, we got there at 3:30 and the place was almost completely packed. A party had to shift one seat over to accommodate the two of us. It was a Friday afternoon in the dead of winter; who knew a dessert bar was a place to flock to?! I guess well more than 10 years later, this place is still holding on to its allure. The verdict: the desserts are yummy. But the best part is watching Chika and her staff plate the desserts. The plating is clean but not as refined as those fancy restaurants. Then again, you are not paying fancy restaurants prices. Some may think they are pricy for what you get. For me, this is a dessert bar not a complete meal. $18 for an Amuse, choice of dessert, and petit fours is not outrageous.
Nice attentive service in east village. Lots of yummy treats
Hello, good for date
Unique and classy dessert bar. The DoughYaki doughnut and Vanilla Thyme sorbet are just a few examples of the great things on the menu. Their efforts to stay open during the pandemic are much appreciated!
Best place for desserts! Tasty and refreshing!
Much tasty. Yum dessert. Petit fours.
Food: Matcha w/Red Bean & Nutty Professor ChurroCones + Toffee CakeSoft, chewy, flaky, sweet churrocone. The matcha tasted authentic and the red bean was great. The toffee cake was interesting. Make sure you eat it with the ice cream.Price: Expensive for dessertMenu: Really diverse and originalService: Cool staff and wait was moderate.Decor & Atmosphere: Tight and smallOverall: Good and its worth a another trip.
The white store is not the original one, they are same name i don’t know why, and they will tell you nothing about the old one.old one is just across the street, but closed.
Super yummy and cute! Definitely recommend if you like desserts and wine. They also had really a great menu and i wish I could have tried all of them! If Im ever back in the city Ill visit here again for sure
One of my favorite places in New York City.
Pretty tasty cronuts and ginger icecream
Recommend wine options
Still open with dessert takeout. The Mille cake was so delicious!
Fun, local, great beer. Seriously, what more do you want in a place? Tucked back in a neighborhood that gives it a laid back and easy atmosphere. Owners are friendly and staff is knowledgeable. If you havent been here, why not?
Such a refreshing take on desserts than the usual typical desserts I get. The experience and taste were very gourmet but still pocket-friendly. Nice ambience too!
One of the best discoveries Ive made in NYC for really good Japanese desert bars. Interesting setup. Two locations one right across from the other. One is more formal date night, lounge type spot. The other is more laid back casual, light on seating and what appears to be a warehouse for making all the pastries... I really dig the lounge bar version if youre going on a date where youre trying to make a sophisticated impression on a first date. The best seat is around the well manicured bar where you can closely observe the creation of your deserts. The other spot is more casual, semi outdoor seating, like by a tree bench lol. But still super cool. However dont think for a second that the quality of the desert is any different. Quality is the same...Will always recommend this spot to folks to visit if their in or near the St Marks area.
Love the dessert here!
Cute dessert bar and get to see all our desserts made before us! Great place for a date night or hanging out
Brother recommended me this place. I was here with my wife recently. Great desserts!
The best dessert place Ive ever been to. A little pricey but so worth it. Everything was delicious. I will definetly be going back.
Flavors are great!
Easy to see right off of 10th Street servicing the Lower East Side and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities. No wheelchair accessible entrance. A true Artistic version of designer Desserts. A very small place so getting in is difficult. Always a long line, but if youre a Dessert fan, its a must try. Give it a try and you decide.
Churros + Ice cream = Heaven
Lovely
This is my favorite dessert place in the entire world and I have lived in 4 different countries. Everything Chika and her amazing staff serve here is special. If its vanilla ice cream you can be sure it is The BEST vanilla ice cream. If its a doughnut you can be sure its The BEST doughnut. I dont live in nyc but I had to stop by during quarantine and I ordered as much as I could because I just missed it so much. Theyve made a special menu to accommodate eating it outside of the dessert bar while still making is special. True, Its not cheap, but if you watch the attention to details and love they put into everything they do.. well I just love them more and more every time I come. I dont really write reviews but this place is unique and beautiful. Thank you so much!
Fantastic! From watching a play, we came by here. I am grateful we didnt have to wait long on a rainy Friday night to be seated. We enjoyed the whole scene. I like their version of cheesecake.
One of my favorite dessert experience Ive ever had in my life. Just really well thought out dessert experience. Great cadence, music, service, and over all experience. The desserts juxtaposed flavors you really arent used to seeing together.
