Friendly, fast service and pretty good sweets. I got the cake and shake for $15 (which felt like a lot based on the size of the portions). The chocolate shake was very good, and the slice of birthday cake was pretty small, but I enjoyed it as well. The cookies were $3 each, and were the size of a chocolate chip cookie youd bake at home - about 2-2 1/2 inches across. For that price Id expect two of them. Im glad I came here on my vacation - very colorful decor and a very funny meme, but I would not come back due to the cost.
Milkbar has been on my bucket list for years because of their signature soft serve. I still didn’t try it this time because of their cookies. We got the Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookie from friends’ recommendation. It was super sweet as expected but the cornflakes were a great addition to balance the flavors. As a fan of soft serve & ice cream, we would definitely visit again to see how good it is.
We were so excited to try it 😊so we started eating before taking pictures :)Honestly I cant say its bad, but we dont see anything spectacular. We dont regret trying it but we could pass and save time for other stuffWe had the Cereal Milk with flakes and Strawberry Shortcake with Fudge which was better in our opinionThe Cereal milk is really bot special its like eating cereal with frozen milk (Its not an Ice Cream)
The cake was amazing along with the cookie we ordered. Perfect place for a quick sugar rush pick up. Employees werent really helpful on describing the menu but we still managed. The cookie was perfectly cooked and not hard. The cake had an amazing texture to it along with the icing it didnt make me feel stuffed. Thank you!
Ordered the birthday cake on website… It was stale dry and crumbly… Whole Foods cakes are better quality, better tasting, and much less expensive… Very disappointed…
Very good! We ordered three slices of their iconic birthday cake, the crack pie, a pint of the cereal milk ice cream, and the chocolate birthday cake; our total price was around $50. I would say they are a little overpriced but the overall experience was amazing and totally worth it. Definitely stop in if you are in NYC! :)
I totally think that the Milk Bar is very unique and creative. This location is pretty small (like many NYC buildings and shops.) When it’s busy you absolutely feel cramped since it’s basically just a short hallway. I’m a huge sweets person. I love brownies and ice cream and apple pies etc... but the flavors at milk bar just aren’t my cup of tea. I’m personally very happy with basic vanilla soft served and sprinkles. This cereal milk and sprinkles is very sweet, For me almost too sweet. I’ve been to another location with friends to try their cookies. And their cookies are pretty great but still very very sweet. If your just visiting New York as a tourist I think coming to the milk bar is definitely worth a try!! But if you just need something to satisfy your sweet tooth maybe just hit up the corner shop for some Ben and Jerry’s.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and ordered a slice of their classic B day cake. I can honestly say it was the worst slice of cake I’ve ever had. And it’s hard for cake to be literally inedible. It was crunchy all the way through like it’s been left out for a few days uncovered. The icing tasted slightly musty like it was starting to turn. I threw it out. I’m sure this cake is probably great fresh but I definitely received a very old disgusting slice of cake.
Soft serve and the pie are delicious. The cornflake topping was a bit too salty.
Really dry cake. Frosting was better than the cake but still not enough to make the cake edible. Had to throw it away.
No cake makes up for a horrid customer service experience. I was ordering my friend one (1) cake for his birthday. After I placed the order, 30 seconds after, I realize that I was somehow charged for 2. Immediately reached out to customer service and was told 24 hour turn around time for a response. Called a few stores Sorry we cant help. 4 days later finally I get an email response - Sorry youre outside the window for us to do anything about this.Ill be taking my business elsewhere next time.
Whatever you do, dont order online as a gift and delivery. I ordered a cake for Mothers Day and not only did it never ship - they took 2 days to respond. Now I am left with nothing being sent to my Mom and feeling awful. Very disappointing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ORDERING FROM THE WEBSITE!!
The Cereal Milk Soft Serve absolutely lived up to the hype! It’s sweet and salty and also a bit tangy. Couldn’t get enough of it! The chocolate birthday cake shake was good but a bit too sweet for me. I’m glad I got the smaller size to try! I also couldn’t resist buying a few different cookies. It was my first trip, but I’m sure it won’t be my last!
I am obsessed with this place! Everything is so good and a great treat with friends after a concert or event.
This place has very interesting soft serve ice cream flavours such as cereal milk and chocolate covered pretzel soft serve. The ice cream is salty and sweet, and very satisfying. It tastes strange compared to normal ice cream, but it is delicious. They have toppings such as corn flakes, sprinkles, chocolate chips, and fudge. You can also order a milk quake which has soft serve with something else mixed in such as birthday cake, crack pie, strawberries and corn flakes, or chocolate covered pretzel. This is a more substantial and filling dessert with big chunks of tasty baked goods.Milk bar also has a great selection of cookies. The classic compost cookie is a perfect mix between soft, crunchy, chewy, sweet, and salty. It has pretzels, potato chips, and chocolate in it.Milk Bar is a great place to get a unique tasting ice cream dessert or to try interesting baked goods.
I was disappointed. I had seen the Netflix documentary episode about this place, and it all sounded wonderful and decadent. But my $14 surprisingly moderately sized slice of cake and glass of milk let me down. The flavors were honesty pretty nice, but the experience of eating out of a box while sitting on a bench in the back corner in this tight space was not enjoyable. The spoon is uncomfortable too. And why a spoon and not a fork?! I just thought of the fork thing. Lol.But worse than that is that the cake should have been great, and it wasn’t. The whole thing was cold and hard. The cake was dry and brittle. And the icing was much to dense for the crumbly cake. Other textures were nice, like the crunchy mystery bits in the icing and the sprinkles base of the slice. That being said, I’ll probably come back another time, cuz sweets. One interesting thing was the Caviar bike messenger who picked up desserts for his customers. I realized at that point that one employee had a wall of screens that he was working from.
The staff were unhelpful, threatening and way too full of them selves. after paying $40 for two desserts the staff yelled at my daughter for using their bathroom.I will never go back to Christina Tossi restaurant. She has a good marketing agent, but the rest of nyc is struggling to recover but she cannot be bothered to hire someone to clean a bathroom?
Very disappointed 😞My partner is out of town for Valentine’s Day and I had heard so many great things about Milk Bar, so I decided to surprise my partner with a Valentine’s Day treat- exciting!Unfortunately, I was let down when the gift was not delivered yesterday (2/13) as guaranteed when I ordered it Monday (2/8). I tried calling and emailing yesterday, but I did not receive a response. This morning I received a tracking number that it is leaving NJ for PA, unfortunately he will no longer be in PA when it arrives on Monday and I wasted 90$. I hate to give a bad review, but I couldn’t get a hold of anyone by phone or email.I sincerely hope your establishment can take this as a learning experience. From the looks of these reviews, I was not alone yesterday.
Major disappointment. Ive been dying to go to this place for a while. I finally decided to treat myself with a slice of their birthday cake and instead of cheering me up it just left me sad that I wasted my money. The cake was dry and hard like it was really old. Ive seriously had better cake from grocery store bakeries. And the fact that I had to pay $9 for such a horrible cake has turned me off to this place all together. If youre gonna charge that much for a slice of cake it should atleast be fresh. I had already planned to go back and try everything else they had, but after this horrible experience they wont be getting another dime from me.
I have always been a big fan of milk bar. But now I am certain my family and I will never ever shop here again. Times are tough right now with Covid so I wanted to surprise my friend with some milk bar treats. I ordered them a month before they were scheduled to arrive- so they had PLENTY of time to make sure it got there in time. But stuff happens, so I decided to call customer service. I have called over fifty times in the last week with no response and their email service certainly doesn’t do anything. Please, save your money and go elsewhere. My friends and family will never be ordering from here again. Still haven’t received my order and no response from Milk Bar.
Their Birthday Cakes are of pretty low quality. Customer Service is good.I havent tried other products but ordered a chocolate birthday cake for my friend. It tasted like one of those those two week old cakes lying at the corner store. It costs 50$. And there is no accommodating a simple request to remove the stuff from the top.Only thing good was the helpful person on the phone.UPDATE: They did want to make this right and dealt with the matter seriously so kudos for customer service.
Milk never disappoints and this location hit the spot. I wasn’t expecting one to be so close but to my surprise, I was only a few blocks away. The exterior stood out in a classic, instagrammable facade and when you enter there are baskets of cookies. This location had a sign posting a “secret menu” that I’ve never seen at other locations. The service was not as great as I’ve experienced- the staff obviously did not want to be there and were consumed in conversation with each other than helping their customers. Very little eye contact and lots of dismissive attitude. The sweet treats made up for it though! I will 100% come back.
Happy Birthday to Me, Milk Bar is Out of Milk. Just walked 15 blocks to get a strawberry milkshake whomp whomp
Loved it, I’ve been waiting for this moment since I watched the Netflix episode. Music is hype af, the ice cream 👌🏻 mua perfect. Pie was a little too sweet but still good. For sweetening the coffee they have sugar sirup and lemon sirup, super nice. Both the part and the chocolate truffles are highly recommended! Staff was also very nice and helping.
The flavors they have here are just not for me, everything I tried was sickly sweet. I could only manage a couple bites of my cake. I also had the chance to sample the cereal milk ice cream and found that this was also too sickly sweet for me. If you like ice cream flavors like birthday cake then this may be a great place for you, but as someone who has never enjoyed those kinds of flavors, I will not be back.
I really wanted to love it, but it seems like profit has been placed over quality and customer service :( I was picking up some cookies as a gift. There was a line, which I expected, but only one employee who was being made to run around and do everything himself. I ordered my cookies, which I assumed would be fresh from the display case, the only cookies visible but after pointing towards them, he whipped out prepackaged ones from under the counter. I was asked to pay and he was already on to the next guest before I could protest. I feel like it’s pretty disingenuous to have (hopefully) fresh cookies on display and then actually give out prepackaged ones when they’re ordered. And to only have one employee scheduled so any kind of hold up is inconveniencing the people behind in line.
Dont order online. Never arrived and they never communicate. Awful customer service
Good, but not out of this world. Definitely skip the cookies (theyre too sweet and not as special despite sounding like it) and go for the milk bar pie (formerly known as crack pie) and the birthday cake truffles.
Best cookies ever had. They’re definitely BOMBS! The flavor has depth in it - not the unpleasant sweetness that makes you feel dizzy. They are not the gooey ones but you’ll feel your cookies melting in your mouth with right level of density and butteriness.. More than just worth giving a shot.
I ordered a four-tiered cake for our wedding in another state. The person from Milk Bar who I corresponded with via email was prompt, pleasant, and easy to work with. The cake was delivered in great condition to our wedding venue. We received many compliments from guests regarding the flavors of each layer (chocolate malt and salted pretzel), and it turned out beautiful in the photos as well. We would order a cake from Milk Bar again and recommend this service to others as well.
Horrible staff that made it very clear that they didnt want to be there. Everything was dirty & made me question how clean their kitchen area is. We even heard them saying that they were sick of taking online orders, so they turned off the computer! Im pretty sure that the owner would be devastated if she knew what her staff actually did. I suspect that the popularity/fad of this place will wear off quickly. The chocolate cake milk shake tasted great, BUT I watched it being made & was horrified that half the cup was filled with thick chocolate syrup. That shake had to have been over 2000 calories! Good gracious! The nutrition information should be posted clearly, but I didnt notice it anywhere. Its also very expensive. In my opinion, the hype makes this place seem better than it actually is. Dont waste your time or money.
Highly recommend the combo for $20. You get a slice of crack pie, a warmed up cookie, bday truffles and the famous cereal soft serve. Not the cheapest desert place around, but it’s hearty and filling. The cookies stay fresh for quite a while and warmed up are best way to serve them. Definitely recommended for people visiting New York as a speciality treat!
A truly piece of heaven. I can see why Chelsea was on chefs table for the famous crack pie and cereal milk. Brings memories and a smile when having this amazing dessert.
Awesome ice cream, and desserts. VERY expensive, but worth it as an occasional treat.
Omg their bday shake was AMAZING
Celebrity dessert chef time! Went with the cereal milk soft serve and it tasted wonderful. Definitely got the cereal taste. Love the window take out service at the sidewalk. Makes getting my sweets quick and easy. Also had the compost cookie which had a nice chewy texture. I would say the go to for me here is the cereal soft serve. Items were a bit pricey for a small cup but it made for a nice snack.
Five stars for the folks working at the store who entertained our questions about all the different flavours. The soft serve is a bit of a killer. The cereal milk is sweeter than anything you’ll ever try, and the chocolate pretzel is saltier than everything else as well. There are way better places to treat your sweet tooth in NYC than Milk Bar.
Best place ever! Great atmosphere, everything is packaged so cute. The truffle balls are amaze balls and the cereal ice cream never fails at amazing me. The cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie is my favorite along with the corn cookie, then compost! The shakes are great make sure to tell them you dont want it too think so youll be able to actually drink it!
I really wanted to like Milk but the ice cream was very salty and they barely added any sprinkles. The soft serve came to almost 7 dollars with tax but the ice cream was so salty I couldnt finish it. There was two people working and a lot of customers so my order was forgotten and we had to remind them after waiting for ten minutes. Staff was friendly and trying their best! They just couldve benefited from having more people working.
Such amazing soft serve ice cream, made with cereal milk. Was delicious I highly recommend it.
I ordered a birthday cake online for my sons birthday from milk bar, and filled out the required fields for an inscription noting the birthday.... I had it shipped to me, and it arrived with no inscription. They offer me 5 dollars off, which is kind of ridiculous. I would have never purchased the cake with no inscription even if it was half off.
It was everything I expected and MOAR!!! The Milk Bar Pie lived up to its name. Also, I think tomorrow I may have to travel across town to get hooked up with the cereal milk latte just for my morning coffee. Because that drink was AMAZING!!!
Delicious treats, and truly offerings you can’t find anywhere else. My favorites are the cereal milkshake, and the compost cookies. This particular location was unfortunately sold out of some key items. My only other gripe is the outrageous pricing, $6 for a (small) slice of pie, and a “small” milkshake being less than 10oz, were too rich for my blood and I’ll only be going back if my pockets feel particularly deep.
This place was super small, no places to sit, and barely any space to order if someone decided to eat their stuff in the store. The bday truffles were really yummy, but the cookie was super average like you could get the same at cvs or 7 eleven. The girls working were friendly so I’m giving it 4 stars.
I went here on a delivery, so unfortunately I didnt get to try the delectable food, but I did see that the food/desserts/Shakes/Icecream all looked Beautiful and Smelled Delightful! In addition, the employees here were really nice they felt like my buddies! I would definitely go back here given the chance, so should you! The only downside to this place is that its very small only a couple of people could sit down in this place, maybe like 8 people!
After watching Chefs table, my brother and I HAD to try the crack pie snd it was so freaking worth it! Only complaint is that it was 6$ which is pretty expensive for such a small slice but it was worth it!
Went for one dollar sized custard in honor of their anniversary. Very creamy. But a little sweet for me. Been there before. A bench is there to sit and enjoy. Small space on 8th Ave location
Cereal milk soft serve was good in a sens that it was different. The star that I remove is for the big hype around the krak pie that is good but not that different from a brown sugar pie (less sweet than I thought). Also, service could be better in the sens of more smiling in the voice and quicker. The employees looked more interested in her phone and back discussion than taking order in front.
Really tastes like cereal. Might be a bit much just by itself, so overall next time I would add some sprinkles and chocolate bits to it, then it tastes awesome.
Excellent Ice Cream, though I couldnt finish it all. It was so rich and tasty. Would love to go again, but I would have to do it on an empty stomach ;)
We live really close to Milk Bar... and it is so dangerous for my waistline! The desserts are just delicious (the crack pie and cereal milk icecream deserve a special nod), and very clever. On a more macro note I can also recommend their birthday cakes. Its not the typical cake that feels artificial, its a really nice concoction that is sweet and moist... as well as really fun!
Meh. We decided to try some shakes and got some cookies for later. The chocolate birthday cake milkshake was chocolatey but all I could taste was the sprinkles. My husband tried the compost cookie shake, and though we knew there were salty items in it, we could not have predicted how strange the shake would be. He couldnt even get half way through it. Definitely glad we only got the baby shake size. After the shakes we werent up for trying the cookies, so Ill update if theyre amazing or anything.I did really appreciate the girl who took our order. She was very nice and explained what the compost cookie and the milkquakes were.
A friend walked by here and mentioned it to me, so naturally I had to check it out because I just cant resist sweets.I was confused by the whole concept at first (cereal milk flavoured soft serve ice cream), but clued in after asking one of the staff members and reading some of the options available. On that, one of the girls working there had her mind in the clouds, whether from extreme sleep deprivation or cannabis. She wasnt much help obviously, but there was another person working there who was.I decided to go all out and got the chocolate malt cake shake. First off, its expensive, I believe it was £7.50. This would be justified if it was big and amazing, but it was small and below average. I love milkshakes, but they need to be thick and theirs were are anything but that. Not sure if its just the way they make them, but I wouldnt go back. They had a few other interesting things in there, but I felt like simplifying the whole place would go a long way.
It was okay, no seating (expected in NYC); however, the cereal milk softserve initially tasted like cardboard. Unbeknownst to myself, it was best enjoyed eating it with sprinkles. Would come again, but not to the chelsea location.
Fun, young (teen to late 20s crowd), trendy place. Popular from a Netflix special. They were out of the crack pie which was disappointing (because it was the main reason I was going). I got the cereal milk soft serve with crunch and it was very different, which was a nice experience!
I love milk, I love bars, I love cereal and I LOVE ice cream. I even enjoy completing my duty of finishing milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl. However, I found the milk bar, while a fun, tasty experience it was too malty for me.
Cool spot for a different treat. Friendly staff. Gets crowded quickly and easily. Some orders took longer than others, but they were all delicious!
Delicious soft cookies, tried Compost & Confetti. Soft ice cream with mix-ins are addictive & perfect for warm days. Friendly staff at the Chelsea NYC location
If you have ever seen the Disney Pixar movie Up, then you probably remember the ice cream parlor that appears on screen. For those of yall who didnt know, that place actually exists! Right along the outer edges of Oakland, California (NOT Piedmont) is Fentons Creamery. NOTE: Theres also one in Vacaville.
Birthday cake truffles are the best!
Milk Bar is of course a famous chain, and this location is no letdown. Delicious milkshakes obviously - everything from the cereal milkshake to the birthday cake shake taste fantastic. They also have some pretty great coffee, a selection of Momofuku cookbooks/coffee table books, and some other items that look like theyd make good gifts (mugs, baking mixes, etc.).Theres a window outside that you can order through as well, which I tend to use when Im walking my dogs - super helpful for that.I believe this place only allows credit cards/no cash.
A bit too sweet and overpriced for me. Instagram worthy foods if thats your thing. The cornflake marshmallow cookie was my favorite purchased in the group. The birthday cake truffles were the worst. Also purchased was the crack pie (a chewy Blondie) and the cereal milk ice cream with cornflake topping.
Ive ordered the birthday cake and cereal milkshakes from here. Theyre both amazing! I definitely want to come back and try some of their other desserts!
The cereal milk as ice cream is not as sweet as I would like but good concept
Cereal milk ice cream at its finest. This place offers two ways to get your fix, either inside or at the window. My recommendation - Try the fruity pebble cereal milk shake.
