The place is clean, and well organized. All of their desserts look cute and fun.I tired green tea, rainbow cookies and also red velvet cake. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy green tea cookie and the cake at all. Green tea cookie was too gooey and too bitter. About red velvet cake, I should have asked whether their red velvet cake is with cream cheese frosting or not… I am a big fan of fluffy / moist sponge and cream cheese frosting red velvet cake, but it was far from my favorite kind… Also, I do not like fondant icing at all.It was just not my style and did not like taste but, I enjoyed looking at them :)

To-go:Sultry Red Velvet Half Pound Cookie. Thats a next-level cookie. One of the few cookies in NYC that I enjoyed comparably to Levain (although its very different stylistically).Brownie Nouveau. A slightly above-average brownie. The server said that, because my total was $10, I could get a free slice of cake, tonight-only!? So I had a Chocolate Decadence Nice Slice. I think it was above average, but at that point Id had too much sugar to make a critical assessment.Note: These were packaged more prettily than my photos show. I biked them home, secured by a taut elastic cord that squished them, and then took the food photos, so they look unfairly unflattering.

Ive been both a loyal customer and a fan of City Cakes for many years. I came to know the bakery in an unusual way. Years ago, a very charismatic fitness guru held these amazing extreme sweat inducing classes in NYC and some people from City Cakes attended. From the first time I went in and bought something, I was hooked.Over the years Ive enjoyed ordering custom cakes (amazing choices) as well as some of the stock items. Im thrilled that City Cakes opened a larger retail store near their original location on W 18th Street and I will continue to show my support.Ive put together some photos of things ordered over the last decade. Unfortunately, I dont have photos of some of the more dramatic cakes Ive received. If you are ever in town (or live here) and want a sweet treat or amazing celebratory confection, please check out City Cakes.

OMG. This place has AMAZING HUGE FRESH COOKIES. I was looking for a fresh Snickerdoodle cookie everywhere in Manhattan, and, surprisingly, they are really hard to find. City cakes had a cookie called a Sugardoodle which was half pound of sugary, cinnamon-y, buttery, doughy goodness. It was so tasty! I also got the Almond Matcha cookie, because it is such a unique mix of absolutely delicious flavors. Make sure you really want decadent Cookies when you come in, these are not for the faint hearted. Cookies are baked fresh, weigh 1/2 lb and are totally worth the $5.50 - $6.50 each price point. YUM

Im always looking out for cookies and cupcakes to satisy my sweet tooth. I was thrilled to learn of City Cakes and their half-pounds. Despite being $5.50 per cookie...Ive paid close to that amount for cookies not half that size...so I decided to at least give them a try. The space itself is lovely...very modern and clean. There is a counter where you can buy cookies ($5.50), cake slices ($8.00), cupcakes ($4.00) and other pastries. There are lots of delicious options but I went for the Dark Chocolate and Gingerbread. Be mindful that some of the cookies are filled with creams/frosting. After paying I waited for a few minutes while the cookies were deivered to the front in a nice box via conveyor belt! How cool. The cookies were really good. I would have liked them to be a tad softer....but that may not be possible when baking a half-pound cookie...without it being raw. Both cookies I had were mildly soft in the very center and practically crunchy about a inch from the edges. They did taste good though....I tasted fresh and rich gingerbread and chocolate. My household smelled the gingerbread throughout the room as soon as I opened the box at home. :) There are some other misc. items for sale there as well. There is also a cake counter where you can place your order for custom cakes. The few they had in the case looked delicious. According to their website, their cakes are priced per slice and start at $8-10 per slice. Overall I did enjoy the cookies and hope to return to try some cake slices and cupcakes.

Wow! City cakes opened up their newest location this week and I had a chance to visit while picking up my Yelpie award (yay!)! I also got to choose a slice of cake, cookie and a drink. I love the feel of the place and the colorful cakes, cookies and even drinks they have to choose from. You can also have icing and sprinkles added to any cookie! They are boxed beautifully and come out to you on a cute conveyor belt. I was also really impressed by the cake creations they had on display. The cookies and cake were sweet, fresh and absolutely delicious.Open now with safety measures in place. Please support your local businesses!

Unpopular opinion but I think they do better cookies than Levain. Don’t get me wrong I love Levain but City Cakes are seriously under appreciated. The cookies are a half pound so they are expensive but they are huge and delicious. They have a variety of flavors and you can add frosting to any cookie. They recently moved to a newer and much bigger location on 18th from the basement they were operating out of for years. The milk chocolate is filled with Nutella which is a must try and the snickerdoodle is one of their best flavors.

You can only follow City Cakes on insta so much before giving in to temptation! I havent had their cookies in several years being outside of NYC, but I ordered online. They arrived perfectly in two days thru UPS ground, packed perfectly snug in their box. I opted for reheating at 350 for only 8 minutes and they were plenty gooey/soft for me! Just as delicious as I remember... but I seem to have forgot just how filling one is as my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! Its a lot of cookie even for a cookie lover like me, so beware! City Cakes is one of the few places that the cakes are so fork tender that they don’t need ice cream. The strawberry champagne cake is exquisite, soaked with a champagne sauce, and frosted with a decadent but not overly sweet white chocolate butter cream. Cakes likes these are the reason why I don’t like sharing sweets. The new bakery is glistening and pristine. Amazing and friendly staff where legit your order comes out in a conveyor belt. Everything they offer will please anyone. From an array of gigantic filled cookies to gluten free peanut butter and jelly bars which I snatched a few. Ate them in seconds! LET THEM EAT CAKE--aaand cookies, cupcakes, scones, and other baked treats at City Cakes. apparently this is City Cakes newer, larger location: well-designed (easy to social distance), superclean, brightly lit, and has a friendly modern warmth to it. if you didnt know, City Cakes is a small locally-owned bakery that is a shiny new gem in the Chelsea area.discovered this place via the Yelpie promotion, and i am glad i didnt let the cold, wet weather dissuade me from going. it was well worth the trip. i tried the 1) Almond Tricolor Wonder cake. the cake slice was HUGE and easily shareable by 2-3 people. i really loved the smooth almond buttercream, the three thick layers of colorful cake, the raspberry and apricot flavors, and the dark chocolate exterior...expectations exceeded by this colorful explosion of cake and flavors. for peanut butter fans, there is no better option than the 2) Reeses Pieces Half Pound Cookie. again, easily shareable by 2-3 people. really captures the peanut butter-iness without being overshadowed by sugar/sweetness. the half-pound cookie has a nice amount of softness and crumble so its midpoint for any cookie fan. i bought a strawberry shortcake cupcake and i have to say this was one helluva of a cupcake--simple yet the effort could be tasted from the actual shortcake itself to the vanilla buttercream to that sweet strawberry sauce. AMAZING!City Cakes also displays a gallery of edible artistry in the front of the store. the amazing looking art is currently inspired by Alice in Wonderland. beyond the art, City Cakes offers options on custom cake, cookies, cupcakes & more to order/create/purchase as well as classes on creating cake masterpieces.the staff are incredibly friendly and know their stuff. i had a bunch of questions and needed some recs and they were happy to oblige. great vibeseven the boxes have instructions on how to optimally store and warm up the baked treats. City Cakes’s half pound cookies are one of my favorite desserts in NYC! I know the shop has “cake” in the name, but do not sleep on their cookies! Sometimes cookies of this size are dry or crumbly, but City Cakes’s are perfectly chewy with a soft center. My favorite is the classic chocolate chip, but the red velvet is a close second! I love to bring them as a hostess gift to dinner parties because they’re much easier to transport than a frosted cake or cupcakes (I’ve had many subway dessert casualties) but they still have the “wow factor” because of their sheer size and weight. Or, if you really want the look of a cake, you can order a stack of cookies with layers of icing in between, so it looks like a layer cake. City Cakes also ships nationwide, so I always recommend sending cookies as a great birthday or holiday gift for friends and family who live outside of NYC.

The address wouldn’t come up on google maps or in their system but after multiple text messages back and forth, they made it happen. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond for their customers, call them! You will not be disappointed. I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout.Thank you City Cakes for making this special day happen! ❤️❤️

Review №100

I’ve ordered City Cakes online and they are hands down one of the best cookie services you can purchase online. They are like it’s fresh out of the oven to your doorstep. The quality alone is worth the money!
