David is charming as hell and a straight shooter. Come here for the luxury pens and lighters, stay awhile and get inside tips to the best Russian food in NYC - hint - it’s in Brooklyn. Prices are on par with every luxury pen or fountain pen store I’ve visited but the David factor makes this place special. He’s customer service oriented and a gifted gabber if you’re in the mood. If not he’s efficient and friendly. Additionally he wants you to be happy - he’s not about upselling you something just to make a buck. He knows the value of repeat business.

I stoped by to look at some ST DuPont lighters and the Gentleman behind the counter was very helpful full of Dupont knowledge and took his time helping me find the best lighter for me. Very happy with the outcome and will return when it’s time to add to the collection!

The owner is an absolute dolt. I waited 20-25 minutes behind the counter before even made an attempt to greet me for coming to visit is puny little “shop”. Other things to know: 90% of his stock is St. Dupont and he only has a handful of other items.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. There is a far better place to visit in downtown NYC for fountain pens.

David has master old school knowledge.I have a classic table top sterling lighter by Dunhill which has not worked properly in years. I sent the lighter back to Dunhill a number of times over a 3 year period with very poor results. The lighter is important to me for the occasional cigar, more so as a gift from my wife 20 years ago. Its literally two display cases and an empty seat where I assume someone should be sitting. I gave up waiting for anyone to show up at 2pm mid-afternoon. If I need to ask the neighboring stores if anyone works here you definitely dont want my business.

Reading through most of the reviews, a lot of folks hit the nail on the head.David has a small store in the back of 20 W 47st, in Jewelry Plaza. It’s hard to find, but the search is worth it. The man has years and years of incredibly hard to find inventory. I bought a Montegrappa day of the dead pen, which I could not find online at a very reasonable price. David also serviced my ST DuPont Minijet lighter in one day!A small gem for NYC hobbyists and collectors. I can’t wait to come back.

Man I was nervous about sending my new DuPont lighter to these guys.I purchased the lighter from an online retailer and it had an issue right out of the gate.I sent it in from Las Vegas and the same day they received it I got an email saying it was received and it was being worked on.I got an email 30 minutes later saying it was done and being shipped back to me.I fully recommend these guys. Make sure you have your receipt and all the paperwork with it though so you can have the same result I had

I think the pictures are misleading. Not sure if they used to have a full store, but now its a single counter in a mall. While the pens might be nice, I couldnt see them and one person can take up the whole counter.

First, let me say that I’ve been a serious buyer and user of fountain pens for more than 40 years. I buy pens to use, not to collect, and have had the nibs on all my pens customized by Michael Masuyama to my specifications, which may be a level of obsession not shared by other, more normal people.I always travel with several fountain pens, and my recent trip to NYC was no exception. However, this time I forgot to bring spare cartridges for my S.T. DuPont pen, which in my world counts as a minor emergency. However, I remembered that over the years I’d done business and bought pens and pen paraphernalia from Art Brown on 47th Street.So I made my way over to their kiosk in the back corner of the Jewelry Plaza, where I spent an enjoyable half hour or so talking with the proprietor, David Cherner who calls himself more of a technician than a salesman. In short, he’s the pen geeks’ pen geek.The shop itself is really just a cozy kiosk tucked in among the diamond merchants, but then pens, nibs, and ink don’t take up all that much room.Getting my S.T. Dupont cartridges, blue, $10, was the matter of only a few moments. Then we began to talk pens, ink, and custom nibs. I’d brought a couple of pens with me, and he liked the nib on my carbon fiber Dunhill, but thought the nib on the Dupont wasn’t as smooth as it should be, so he tuned it for me at no charge, removing an infinitesimally small butt on the nib, that turned a pretty good writing pen into a great writing pen.In the course of our discussion, he told me that he also did pen repairs and nib-tuning, being, as he said, more of a technician than a salesman. I told him that I had a Visconti Divina that may need some work with the filling mechanism, and he said he could take care of that for me.So if you are a seasoned pen geek, like me, or are new to the art of the fountain pen, and you find yourself in NYC, drop into see Mr. Cherner and spend a little time being both educated and entertained.

I purchased a pen(S.T.Dupont Classique ballpoint pen) from David a few months back and was very impressed with his level of knowledge. He took the time to patiently answer all my questions and help me make the right choice of what to purchase. Yesterday I came back to buy another item (S.T.Dupont minijet lighter) and yet again David was there to help me. He has a huge inventory and it was really a pleasure to buy an item from him. He gave me a gift of a free gas lighter refill. His prices are very fair and he makes you feel special and not like one of many customers.
