An extremely friendly and laid back place to stop by for brunch. Though the city is packed with eateries serving brunch but very few are as friendly yet good as the Grey Dog. We came late around 2 and hence wasn’t any wait time get a table.Very one from the staff, from the seating host to our multiple servers were down to earth. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Slowly enjoyed our wines and took our time to order.The BALT sandwich was the fav, crusty bread with thick juicy bacon slices along with creamy avocado and Mayo, all ingredients working well together to make a hearty sandwich.Will be back soon.

Wonderful staff, very welcoming and smiling. Food was great I had breakfast omelette with French toast and it was really good. They dont have any fresh squeezed juices but the nonfresh orange juice I had, was sufficient. All in all easy to recommend to eat at

Tables are 6 feet from one another. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Our Temperature were taken at the door so is our information. Please Wear your mask prior to leaving your table and while ordering your food 😷.the server is very hospitable. I love that she offered me a sample of the hard cider. I love ciders and being able to taste it before ordering it was a plus for me. Happy hour is from 4pm-7pm. We order nachos from the happy hour menu, we also ordered the chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese and the house burger with fries. Both dishes were delicious. I will definitely come back to this place to try other stuff from their menu.

Stopped by on a Friday evening and tried their happy hour specials, sat outside by the street enclosure. They had partitions setup so that was really cool. Nothing against the waitress, but 2 things, first, our drinks were forgotten about, and we had to enquire about them and they never arrived, and once we re-ordered, they charged us regular price. They sorted it out pretty quickly, and the waitress was quite nice about it. The wings special, I believe .50C each, was underwhelming, lukewarm. Again, the waitress was pretty nice and we were not blaming her, but all in all, pretty flat experience.

Absolutely amazing. Great prices and amazing food and drinks. My boyfriend had the 23 skidding and I had the breakfast tea for drinks and for food I had the grey dog special the pancakes were so fluffy and delicious and my boyfriend had the egg and cheese croissant. Would absolutely recommend stopping by

In this day and age of trying to loyal and give this local place business I think it’s a real crime to try and rip off your customers. It’s something small but I ordered an ice tea and asked for some more and they charged me for 2. $9 for 2 ice teas and when I questioned i was told no sorry the owner demands that they charge. It’s really cheap and sorry to say and after spending $90 for breakfast for 2 I feel that it’s all about the $$Sorry you just lost a customer and will be telling folks to avoid your business

Update: Sam from Grey Dog messaged me to get in touch so they can assist. One month after my email to Sam...zero follow-up. This is even more disappointing.Review: I really like the food at Grey Dog but this visit was a HUGE let down.My grain bowl had about four tbsps of oil floating in the bowl that I had to soak up with several napkins. While the textures were there, every component was lacking flavor. The second item we ordered was the chicken fingers with French fries. The chicken pieces had no seasoning or flavor. These dishes desperately needed seasoning and 90% less oil.The fries were seasoned well and was good. The final item was the special Moscow mule (I forget the exact name) which was well made.🧉 I give a 3 because the service was good and my past visits have been good as well, and of course, they are usually good with portion sizes.

Ordered through grubhub who never delivered order and told me to figure it out with the staff here. The staff were incredibly kind and remade & sent me my food with no problem because I was already stressed. Food is delicious but the five stars are definitely for the staff!

Went for brunch for the first time today and was really impressed with the quality of the food, the service, and the drinks. I had the avocado toast and it was on point (love that they use pesto!); the mimosa pitcher was perfect (not too icy or too much OJ) and the servers was so nice. Their outdoor seating is well done and conveniently located on a quiet street. Definitely a new favorite.

Really nicely decorated coffee/bar shop, great atmosphere, serviceable staff although no waiters and they seat you after ordering your meal there almost no waiting time. Broad brunch menu with lots of healthy options and a decent collection of craft beers. Free WiFi, clean restroom and service that is on top of the constant change in tables. Quite hipster and with good vibes

This was a nice find! The Froze really took me for a loop!! It was soo good and got a right where I wanted to be. The winner was the Ice Cream Sunday with blueberry compote.. I will definitely return here!

Been going to the Grey Dog on Carmine since they first opened at their original location at 33 Carmine in 1997. It was great then and has only gotten better. Still amazing coffee and great atmosphere. Staff has been consistently friendly over the years. Food choices have changed for the better and they also serve craft beers and wine. Love their homemade granola and yogurt for breakfast but you really cant go wrong with any of their breakfast items or freshly baked pastries. Heres to many more years of Grey Dog!

Fantastic lunch place with one of the best burgers Ive ever had, delicious double patty broiled perfectly, melted cheese and sweet pickles on a brioche bun.. the house burger is my pick here! I was very happy with the socially distanced outdoor dining which has very warm individual electric heaters. The staff were great and I loved that they provide hand sanitiser on every table. Music was perfect and the condensed menu just fab. A couple of extra juice choices would have been a perfect touch to an otherwise great meal.#burger

Got food poisoning from here twice. Some menu items smelled suspiciously like certain bodily secretions. Got sick right after eating them on two occasions. Eat here at your own risk.

Food and drinks were great! Only place that could seat us on a very busy/rainy Friday night in the West Village. They have some heated seating, and some not heated, but all seating was covered, so we didn’t get wet. Only reason for deducting a star was that the service was slow, but other than that, great place.

This is a busy restaurant that has a great variety of reasonably priced meals. The atmosphere is eclectic and even features an old mattress for decor. Water, cutlery, and condiments are all self serve, if theyre available. There was no ketchup when I visited.The food had mixed reviews. My wife ordered a salad which was huge, delicious, and very fresh.I ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out blue rare. I didnt have time to have the order fixed since I was in a rush, so I do put part of the blame on myself for not giving the restaurant a chance to correct the mistake.

Awful experience. We had to wait 30 minutes for our check because they couldn’t figure out how to process a mobile deal we had from Pulsd—even though we mentioned at the beginning of our meal that we had it! While they were figuring it out, they flat out ignored us. No eye contact or communication whatsoever. So embarrassing for them, so frustrating for us.

We came across the Grey Dog by accident, wanting to get a pizza instead at the Spunto Thin Crust, but they had a wedding party. Boy, were we glad they did. The Grey Dog is just the kind of place we like, local hang out restaurant with great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The music is perfect too. The sandwiches are well portioned on thick multigrain bread. We’re heading back to try their breakfast.

First time here. Took about ten minutes to get our order, despite being the first/only people to seat. COVID guidelines seem to be being met. Took another 20 minutes to get food while people who sat after us got theirs before us. We ordered one pancake and an omelet with GF toast. The “toast” was a GF hamburger bun? Which was odd and not particularly appetizing. My pancake came out cold and hard and had to be reheated. My sausage patties were drenched in grease. The food was... meh. My pancake was raw in the center and everything tasted like something you would get at any mediocre breakfast chain. The staff was very friendly, so it wasn’t a terrible experience, just a disappointing one.

System was down they say and food was underwhelming especially waiting over 30 minutes for it. Server was friendly though.

I got the smoked salmon toast tips and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food i was given. This place is self-serve for water, utensils, and napkins.

Went to the Grey Dog today and Wow ! I had the Fried Chicken sandwich and my friend had the Goat Cheese Avocado sandwich and we were floored by the tastiness of both. The chicken was seasoned perfectly with a nice soft bun and her sandwich was BK very yummy with the nice touch of vinegar. The star was the Froze’ .... ahahhah. Our attendant Devon T was fantastic and provided excellent service. We’ll be taking friends back for lunch.

I ordered the spiced chia tea latte and it was so fragrant and beautiful that the people in line behind me also wanted to order them. For lunch, I had the seared tuna tacos and they definitely didn’t skimp. I expected two, but there were three PLUS a side salad. We also got the hummus (plus olives and beets) to share and the toast points of fresh baked bread were delicious. My friend ordered the grilled cheese, guacamole, and bacon sandwich and the Texas chili and thought both were excellent. Everything was really fresh and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is cozy and fun. I will definitely be back because every single thing on the menu sounded great! I was overwhelmed by choices in the best way!

Was so happy to see the place reopen after being closed for months as the food here as always been phenomenally awesome.What was really appreciated was now that table service is offered they had a minimized reasonably priced menu during this economic slowdown.However fast forward one week later and the prices have surged 20% or more This was a real buzzkill and needless to say, not appreciated.I would still recommend the place but would consider other options that are more reasonably priced nearby.

An amazing dining experience! Theyve cracked dining for the socially introverted such as myself. Youre able to buy your food individually at the counter and then be seated at a table so you get the fun of social dining but dont have to worry about the check at the end. Its wonderful, and a lot of places should implement it! Also, the food was great. Amazing chicken sandwich!

A cute little joint with clean gender neutral bathrooms, a wide selection of foods for anyone with dietary restrictions, welcoming and pleasant staff, and a good wood aesthetic. I love me some old wood and this place has it in spades. Wait longer for the four top in the back where you can see the front door from the corner but no one can see you if youre waiting for friends. Good eats, good treats, a great place for friends to meet!

We anticipated a very long wait when we walked in and the line was to the door, so we were pleasantly surprised that by the time we were at the front of the line and there was a table ready for us! It’s much quieter in there at night and there weren’t really food options we were crazy about, but we decided to get the nachos and share them and they were like nothing we had ever had! Definitely not your traditional nacho dish and would recommend trying! We had a lovely time hanging out in here when it was more quiet and talking to the staff who was fantastic as always. I can’t say enough good things about them!Food wise, I would recommend going here for breakfast!

Very cozy and cute! Exactly what I would want from a coffee shop when need to spend a couple of hours in between work, get a tea, read a book.

My sister and I stopped in for breakfast and had the most wonderful experience. The service was nothing short of exceptional. Our waiter was very attentive, timely and kind. On top of the fantastic service, we felt very safe dining in at this location given the current covid climate. The staff and management team are very mindful of keeping distance while wearing masks and gloves. We appreciated the thought put behind the contactless pay and menus, the divided seating, provided hand sanitizer as well as the individually packaged utensils. On top of that, the food was phenomenal. Would highly recommend stopping in :)

I had some delicious brunch food here and for pretty reasonable prices too. The team of waiters provided great service and really knew how to have fun with things: really brightened up the atmosphere of the restaurant. Also the decor is fantastic, albeit with an odd focus on Michigan and the great lakes? Not that Im complaining, maybe the owners are UMIch alums or something.

I got the three eggs breakfast with hash browns and toast. Now, the eggs were good and perfectly over-easy (no runny bits of egg white). I asked for sourdough and got whole grain toast but that really isnt the end of the world. We can all be honest that toast is toast. The hash browns are not really hash browns but rather home fries and while that would normally send me into a white hot rage, they were deliciously seasoned and fried. The staff is delightful. Overall, a good breakfast option.

The environment is nice. If you’re a “hipster” then this place is for you! Very crowded and I could hear the persons conversation next to me (the seats were right next to each other). The French toast was absolutely DISGUSTING. It was cold and hard (basically old pieces of bread with some syrup). Pretty sure it was leftover from the previous day. Did not taste fresh. Prices are somewhat reasonable. Do not recommend if you’re looking for a place to relax and eat breakfast. Perfect if you want to socialize with friends and not really care about the quality of the food.

Nice menu. Sandwiches, salads, beers soups. Coffee. There are some baked goods as well. There are gluten plenty of gluten free options across the board. Not too pricey and in a great location. Definitely worth a visit for a pretty quick bite to eat. Take out is also an option.

Alright so it pains me to give a 3 star review because the food is pretty good here and the service is always good. I just cant get over the self serve part as in getting your own cup of water/silverware. Honestly, I dont mind the work part of it, its the sanitation. Seriously last time I saw someone sneezing by the drinks/silverware table and I couldnt get past it. Im sorry guys, but please please if you can hand the silverware when we order to it isnt exposed to everyone (it gets crazier during brunch!). BUT besides that the food is really good and service always so friendly.

This place is super fun and hip inside. Their baked goods are amazing, and their drinks are prime - they have a nice selection of wine and beers on tap. I HIGHLY recommend their sweet potato fries. All of the food is wonderful and the ambiance is unbeatable. The people are all laid back and chill. I love this place.
