THE PLACE TO GO IN CHELSEA! Very high quality coffee and service. You can choose from several different coffee beans and the coffee machines themselves are of superior quality. The coffee barista who works there is very polite and skilled as he always weighs out the beans on a scale for consistency. Very beautiful latte art as well! There isnt much seating but it is very cozy. Screw Starbucks go here and be endeared. Im a fan!
Was so excited to try this place because I heard 2 guys saying how great it was. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I’ve had americano before and this one tasted like hot water with milk I don’t taste no coffee. Was very disappointed but the raspberry croissant was great. Americano very disappointing.
I came here for a quick afternoon pick me up. After enjoying my iced coffee outside on a gorgeous day, I had to come back in and leave a bigger tip. I’m always ready to be disappointed by iced coffee as I get alternative milk, and often it ends up watery and flavorless. But the iced coffee I got was bursting with all kinda of different notes of flavor-floral, a little earthy, very robust, not acidic at all, and so creamy from the oat milk. My partner got an iced mocha that was also bursting with high quality coffee flavor, super creamy, and just sweet and chocolate-y enough. It’s a tiny little hole in the wall shop with unique artwork and gorgeous exposed brick and seriously the best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Skip starbucks reserve and come here for well rounded, flavorful coffee drinks if you’re a coffee lover.

I came here and got an iced latte and thought it was fantastic. Then I came back here today and got one of their specials, the space oddity, which is supposed to be rose flavored. However it ended up tasting more like soap (in that bitter way) which I was very disappointed by. It seems like its a result of using too much rose flavoring? It made the drink undrinkable though, so Ill stick to regular lattes from now on.
This is a very popular café situated across from the Mt. Sinai / Blasnik Family Foundation Clinic in Chelsea. The extra-large’Mocha’ was an 8oz cup for about five bucks … great tasting but pricey. The Almond Croissant [well] maybe the overbite temps colder than usual affected the deep buttery consistency. That it tastes more like tempura. But still a flaky dense pastry. The French would love it if course. However, since it’s a one manned operation the wait plus the queue can be cumbersome between the orders. Very friendly patronage. But absolutely busier for the fellow behind the counter … it’s refreshingly pleasant sans tourists !
The coffee at Terremoto is quite good — both hot and cold. The shop itself is small, but perfect for grabbing a morning coffee on the way into my office, or for popping by when I need a break in the afternoon. They accept cards or cash (which I appreciate because one time I needed to break a 20 to have smaller bills for an appointment later that day). All around a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Excellent drip coffee. cute location. good spot if you want to go beyond think, joe, birch, etc
Once you’ve had coffee here, no other place will compare. A true neighborhood gem and always worth the stop in!
The owner/server was rude**Editting**It makes me more upset to see his response. We went there, said hello, and he looked and us and just ignored us. I dont see how saying hello can be considered as rude.
If you’re a lover of gourmet coffee, welcome home! Everything about Terremoto is perfect. The authenticity, the cool vibe, the jazz, all of it. The partnership with LouLou French Bistro right around the corner is also amazing!
Probably the best drip coffee in the area. Great other drinks as well (lattes, iced, teas, etc.). They have music sometimes as well which is pretty cool
Just go... thank me later. Best coffee in NY!
Coffee with a bang, and flakey pastries from heaven. Often a line, but worth it.
People who have crowded parties well after midnight that keep their neighbors up at night do not deserve our business. If this business did not have a party in their backyard until after 1 AM, I and many of our neighbors with adjoining backyards would like to know who was responsible. It was definitely coming from the first floor and back yard.
One of the top shops in the city, very seriously. Quite petite, but small and dedicated staff who put quality first. The beans and preparation are among the best youll find. They didnt spare expense on the machine or serving ware either - its a more luxury experience. Its tight in there but worth a stop!
Their coffees as good as their witty quotes on their boards. That is, really good.Pink bourbon is where its at! Last I was here, I had an espresso to stay (sat on a bench outside), and got a bag of their PINK BOURBON DM beans to go.Worth a trip. Credit accepted.
Had their latte pre pandemic and the pour over post. Both were excellent, and the baristas showed great skill in the preparation. The beans are well curated. Easily worth the cost.I had an excellent Orfa natural dry pour over, and the barista brought out both the fruity and the darker aromas of the bean. The coffee had the nuttiness, vanilla, and coffee flavors in the nose you expect but the taste was fresh and tart with notes of apple and sour cherry. Note that it wasn’t acidic but mild and balanced on the tongue. Excellent for sipping away under their awning with a book... or writing a review.
Great latte—TERRIBLE FOOD! Easily day or 2 old Almond croissant
Quality coffee, tasty pastries, but with surprisingly deteriorated service with its price increae. Also, theres no pricing information for both coffee and pastries available in store. By Feb 2019, The price for Espresso and Americano has gone up to $3.75, while seltzer water is no longer offered with Espresso.
Had a nice cup of cortado & a croissant yesterday. Milk to coffee ratio was balanced and with a little froth on top. It looked like their barista knows what hes doing. Ill be back to try other options soon.
Very overpriced. Unfriendly barista. For a $5 cup + %25 tip, esp when all your shop does is drinks coming out of machines, I expected better service. Tried to show interest in the place but the clerks wasnt interested. In the ONE minute he spent preparing my order, he sipped his own espresso shot twice. The order was takeout only yet the cup he gave me had no lid. And its the smallest cup of Cappuccino ever.I dont know why I tipped that much. I received an incredibly poor service. My cappuccino is bitter and is watery. Pretty sure I needed to add something to it but as I said the clerk wasnt interested in my experience, just my money.Id avoid this place at all costs and going to actively tell people about my bad experience.
Avoid at all cost. Owner was very rude and disrespectful.
Excellent espresso, and the best almond croissant I’ve hadThe clap backs in the reviews are also great
By far, the best coffee NYC has to offer - nothing else compares to Terremoto!
There ia a thousand of coffee shop in New York City but its hard to find a good one!I am a big coffee lover, I drink between 2and5 coffees/day. Last month, I found this place, and i fell totally in Love!I choosed a latte, made and served by the barista Allan, the coffee was nice and tasty, the milk was perfectly warmed, it was creamy and smooth just the way I like it. I had a quick talked with Allan and his knowledge about coffee was really interesting!!!Its a small place but with a tone of character, I highly recommend this place, if you want to drink a nice coffee in Manhattan!(Sorry I didnt take a picture of the beautiful Rosetta, neither the wonderfull coffee machine 😬 but Ill be back)
My go to place for decent coffee in Chelsea/WV. The guys there know what theyre doing.
Great vibe. Great coffee. Friendly staff.
Coffee was super fresh and definitely powerful. The gentleman who served me was very friendly and accommodating. I asked for something like a cubano and he whipped up that was just spectacular... I wasnt paying attention to what he ACTUALLY called it, so thats my fault 😅. Starbucks just took a backseat to this place. Will without a doubt be returning in the near future. HIGHLY recommended.
Their responses to negative reviews are very horrifying! The owner seems to be extremely passive aggressive and desperate. Its sad.
An absolute gem! Friendly customer service with very tasty coffee and treats.
The Best
Great coffee place!
I enjoyed my first time here one early weekday morning. Drip coffee was good. I ate something else but I forgot about its name.Quiet. Small. With nice interiors. I even got to learn the name stands for earthquake in English.
Friendly service. Fantastic coffee.
Delicious coffee. Made with expertise. Friendly and welcoming owners
Great coffee! Best in Chelsea! Lovely find. Owner is passionate about coffee, and you can definitely taste it. Perfectly roasted beans, very smooth. Cozy spot, with great staff! Delicious croissant too! Can’t wait to go back!
Very high quality coffee, both the espresso and the single cup (pour over) options. It’s my go-to on the west side and a proper third wave shop.
After working in Chelsea for over a year now, I finally discovered/stopped in this cute spot. Its like a diamond in the (touristy) rough of NY. Small, cozy, and serving up incredible coffee! I had to take my coffee to-go, but I was tempted to stay in and enjoy my cortado in this lovely, quiet, and peaceful place. Yes, you read that right: peaceful in NYC! I even hesitated writing this review because I dont want it to become overrun with people, but they deserve shine
Very CUTE place and very CLEAN, which is important. I’m obsessed with coffee and often struggle to find conaistently high quality coffee shops in NYC. The coffee here was fantastic! They take good care of the cleanliness of their coffee machine which is a key to an amazing coffee (simply good coffee machine is not enough for a good cup). Very friendly stuff. My new local spot!!!
Love this little shop! Great people and some of the absolute best coffee in New York.
Small local feel shop with great tasting coffee, always brewed well, and alternative milk options. Friendly staff. Limited seating space (~10). Look for the chalk board outside. Can be a little slow making coffee when busy.
I recently discovered this cafe and have been there daily since then. The coffee and pastries are not cheap, so one would expect Terremoto to appreciate a good customer. They dont, so I will no longer be a customer there.
Best coffee ever! Must visit if you are around the area. You will never regret! Definitely one of the things I miss the most about NY.
One of the best espresso shots in the city. Usually 2 single origin offerings with skilled baristas pulling the shots. Small space that isn’t great for groups, but has that wonderful aesthetic that will keep you coming back! Very Brooklyn roasted friendly selection too!
This is my favorite coffee shop in New York. Its a no frills shop with some indoor chairs and tables and some cool benches out front under an awning(perfect place to drink your brew on a chilly morning and watch the world go by). The location is great, its on a nice tree lined street in the super cool Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea; among its neighbors are The Chelsea Market, The Highline, and Google Headquarters, how cool is that? Im by no means a coffee aficionado, but I know good coffee when I taste it, and this coffee is just....better. Ive heard their baristas talk with customers about their process and their passion, I just know when I drink my oat milk flat white here, its so much better than others Ive had. Oh, and you must try a smoothie! They make REALLY good, healthy smoothies. One of the baristas suggested one when I came in feeling under the weather and it was just what I needed.
Wonderful small place, friendly, witty, and serving the best espresso in New York (Blue Bottle is second!)
Best coffee shop in Chelsea. They use Oatly barrister oat milk. Super smooth coffee with a great taste. They’re way ahead of the curve. Well done guys
Best coffee in town ....when I discovered it I bought 10 cups on a first day! I love it so much I brush my teeth with it! Gonna name my first born after this place!
Best espresso in the city. I go out of my way when in the area to try their revolving single origin selections. Their devotion to the craft is bar setting.
One of my favorites! This conveniently placed coffee shop grabs you before you get to Chelsea Market/meatpacking. I appreciate the attentive baristas as well as the wealth of milk options (oat, almond, macadamia nut, etc. milks). You get the whole array of coffee/espresso options along with some seasonal varieties of espresso drinks (purple rain latte and some others). Unless youre craving a pour-over, Id say this is a solid first option for coffee in Chelsea.
This place needs more 5 star reviews - I love going to new shops and trying espressos from all over the US - Terremoto didnt really look like anything special from the outside but its hands down the *best* and consistently good espresso in NYC! If you are into citrusy/juicy, you must try the Burundi Gishbi Hill! 🙏🏻
Really good coffee. Barista knows what he is doing. Inviting and clean establishment. A great escape.
Very cute and chill vibe... think I could spend my day by the window people watching 🤩
Great coffee, although my espresso could have been dialed in better. The service was the worst part - they could definitely use better training and/or read Matt Ps Heads up service article on Barista Hustle. Otherwise this place has a lot going for it -great cafe design and tasty looking pastries.
One of my favorite coffee shops in town. Consistent great coffee
Great coffee and great service. Cute little find in Chelsea.
Cute little cafe. Free wifi! Great place to work but only if you can snag a spot. There are only 3 tables
Much of me doesn’t want to share how good the coffee is here. By far the best espresso in Chelsea, and probably the best in NYC.
Lovelly little coffee place. The coffee is absolutely delicious as well as the almond croissant, highly recommend it. The guy that works there is very friendly. Perfect spot for a quick stop.
Clean place. Excellent sandwiches and Superb Pizza
The best coffee in the city bar none! One of the top three in the Americas. Especially their Geisha right now.
Really great latte. Small space with a few tables but cute, cozy, and always nice to support a local shop.
Cute Cafe with great cappuccino, but right outside is massive street construction.
