Really cool Halloween decorations. I wish they had discounts for their upstairs neighbors ;)
Love this UES gem. I’ve tried to stop by a few times over the past week but it appears to be closed. Wondering if they’re closed for vacation because my brain rejects that they could be closed for good *sigh*.
Love this place! The bar tenders are so inventive! Just a cool hang out spot tbh
My new favorite to go to place ❤️❤️
It was closed Sunday am. Might be out of business
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to this coffee shop to catch up sometime, and we just love the taste of their coffee. It was freshly brewed. The barista was so energetic and know everything that hes doing. Also, the place was so relaxing and quiet. We will surely recommend this coffee shop to everyone.
No longer a coffee shop with comfy seating. Looks like a good bar, and still has the smores but less of a lounging vibe.
I love DTUT (downtown, uptown), drinks are pretty cheap compared to other places in the area and I like the slightly eclectic feel of the mix-matched couches, industrial lighting and bar stools. Also they have smores platters where you can toast your own marshmallows! Amazing. The rugged vintage furnitures and the bricked wall certainly give a different ambiance to the upper east. A nice place to hang out for a coffee or tea. After a certain time, they increase the volume of the music, but when requested the volume went low. The baristas were super friendly.
I used to go there with my friend. We used to work or talk. Both are convenient. She was living right on the corner. It’s a real typical coffee for real New Yorkers .
Awesome cafe and space! I love venues that change with the hours, and this shifts from spacious cafe for working and relaxing to cool, low-key bar at night. Great selection of teas and really friendly staff. I especially like sitting at the “bar” during the day as you can read a book and still interact with others.
I judge places by (a) can I use my own travel cup, (b) are they knitter friendly, (c) how good is the service? At least at place like this cause the food is pre-made. As you can see by the 5 stars, a and b are a solid Yes, and c is very good. Definitely recommend this place for a coffee in the morning and beer/drinks in the evening. The food is good too!
Not a coffee shop anymore; Comfy seating is gone.
This place is more for very casual conversations. It’s very dark and the music is loud so it’s hard to get work done. There’s decent spacing for seating - couple of big wooden tables and a small couch area, but the vibe wasn’t my favorite for a work/study environment. I would recommend coming here if you want a very casual date.
It was my first time going here and honestly id dobit again. The atmosphere is cool. They were play early 2000s rock music which was awesome to hear. Your also able to order smores which was my favorite thing. They bring out the chocolate, marshmellows, gram crackers and the fire and you make the smores yourself. Its cool when you realize how much bonding you do over making smores lol it was an awesome experience
Friendly and warm; unpretentious. There WAS a lovely bartendress named Lily who would play Donna Summer for me. Also, Brandon, another bartender, is an angel. This was my second favorite bar on the Upper East Side. Alas, we now need Aretha Franklin. The Thrill is Gone.
Very average place. Food is okay, but better options exist nearby. Beer options have a good spread amongst different style and locales, but dont hard-to-find or incredible beer offerings here. Seems like it would be too loud/distracting to try and get work done here.
Its a great place to visit and sit. I dont like making orders though because the staff is kinda cold and standoffish. I love the tomato cream soup. Its a must have.
Pretty cool place. Very dark inside while providing board games and coffee, so a bit split on the type of ambiance. Bar or coffeeshop? A bit of both--overall a chill hangout space.
Not a coffee shop anymore.
Who knew this cute little spot was open for breakfast? Not I, for sure! Had the best cup of tea and a power breakfast meeting!
They had a crowd (without six feet social distancing I know I hear cops are making a big deal) with a table today at the door of their bar serving wine and coffee today. Will their menu is on the door. They dont tell you what you can order though. I asked a question about changing since its weird to see a bar serving chai. Instead of answering he says you cant order chai. Thats why your have it. Got it. PS crowd [not line] was blocking the sidewalk. Without a care. In the world
Cool and cozy coffee shop. Went on a Sunday and they turned the WiFi off at 4 though, then they made the lights super dim. You could tell a lot of people were trying to get work done too and were frustrated. More of a social spot than one to get work done at.
When I first came into DTUT I knew Im going to like it. I went there on Friday night and first thing I liked is the fact it doesnt look like a bar at all. Vibe here is a mixture of a coffee shop, a bier garden (with lack of craft beers selection at 4 only, but bottled and caned beer selection is great) and a bar. It actually is a coffee/bakery spot during the day and a bar at night. Its spacious and has bunch of community tables, so if youre looking for a place to go with a group, this is a great spot. Its also laid back and funky. There is somewhat isolated lounge area with couches and a projector that screens videos without sound. Interior is great with high ceilings and a lot of light bulbs hanging down on random places on a piece of wire, Brooklyn loft style. Whole vibe is pretty much like youre visiting a friend who has a lot of cool items and books on his shelf. Staff is just great. Professionally friendly just to a perfect amount. Its not opened late like other bars, so on a weekend this might be that perfect spot for warming up.
I came here for a date late at night. Wine and fresh DIY s’mores. Need I say more? 😍
Ok grab a hard cider or cup of coffee of coffee, hang out with your friends and discuss the intricacies of mix compressors and the frustrations of dealing with producers that dont know what they want. Chill zone.
The service was excellent.
It’s a pretty chill place in a kind of stuffy neighborhood... I appreciate the relaxed vibe and decent happy hour. However, I wish the bartenders were a bit better at explaining things. I came here for the $4 wine, passed a few other places that had slightly better happy hours. Asked for a wine, the guy said “red or white”, and I said white. (Happy hour is house red/white). Then he gave me three white options, I chose one. Comes back with it, and says $8. Apparently, only one of the white options was on happy hour. I guess you have to ask.So, if you come here for happy hour... it’s a decent one. But be sure to double check. I figured he would have said “our Chardonnay is on happy hour, he others are $8”. Oops.
Great atmosphere and friendly bar staff on my visit. Lovely pint of Guinness too! If I were local to the Upper East Side Id definitely be a regular.
I go here all the time. Friendly staff, quirky place with good food. The roast beef sandwich and the ham and cheese quiche are a must. $4 and $5 wine at happy hour. Really good cosmos.
Its a cozy casual bar/cafe. In the day its a cafe with people hanging out by the couch area. Its crowd is much better than the Brooklyn cafe crowd Ive encountered. So glad its more the Manhattan crowd. At night it turns into a casual bar filled with locals. Drinks are decent. They serve drinks all day. Will definitely come back.
Love it here, great vibe.
Great vibes! Cappuccino could have been better but honestly this is such a great place to talk and feel like youre out even if youre just having coffee. It has a lot of seating options and the baristas are very nice. Ill definitely be back! Hopefully by then they add a couple tables outside in the front while the weather is nice :)
Really cool spot! However, if you’re looking for a quiet place to work, you should probably not attend this place after 6pm. If you are, instead, looking for a place to socialize over a distinguished selection of quality drinks—than you ought to come here.
Always friendly - perfect day into evening place. As good for coffee midmorning as it is for drinks at night
Great spot to stop and kill some time. Very laid back atmosphere with some good music and cheap beers. Plug-ins everywhere, if you need them. Friendly staff.
Cool concept with coffee and cocktails. Fun spot to get some work done or meet up with a friend. Sometimes gets very crowded so it’s best to use as a coffee shop to get work done in by day and bar to socialize in by night.
Lovely people and amazing food. I will be coming back for more.
Great data/hangout spot. Its really low key which is nice. Their beer menu is extensive and they offer some good food (try the smores!).Occasionally a family comes by which is a bit weird since there can be some really young kids walking around but its not a normal thing.
All around good place, but a few things were off the night I went there (they did not have 2 of the 5 bottles of red (my first and second choices), nor did they have any chocolate fondue. The atmosphere is intimate and dim, though despite the comforting look theyre going for, the furniture itself isnt all that comfortable. The prices are moderate, especially by the bottle.
Cant think of anything bad to say. Fun vibe, simple knows-what-it-is local place.
Great coffee shop! VERY cool vibes. Kinda like Cheers where the people working there are friendly to everyone. WiFi shuts off at 5pm so that kinda sucks if you’re in the middle of something but I get it bc then it turns into a bar!
Very eclectic coffee shop with good coffee and amazing marshmallow brownies. They have board games so you can play while sipping your coffee.
Great for mid afternoon work. Many seating choices. Friendly staff. Slide from that wake me up hot beverage into a happy hour craft brew.
GREAT PLACE. Love the feel of this place. Great coffee and the tomato basil soup was amazing.BEST of all was Phillipe. he has excellent customer service, which is a quality that seems to lack these days. i will definitely be back...Thanks Phillpe for a great experience.
Surprisingly great daytime seating (for relaxing or getting a bit of work done) for a spot that turns into a bar at night. Has a mix of high tables and couches. Feels spacious inside.
Great food menu. Amazing services. great atmosphere.Coffee was great.
Awesome service. Late night Saturday Bartender with the man bun / pony tail and facial hair is fantastic. He really saved the night
Cafe by day, bar/cafe by night.Great place to chill out and get some work done or enjoy the dimly lit atmosphere on any given night. There are couches in the back that make a good conversation space or place for a date, tables up front where people have laptops out doing work, bartenders are chill peeps and the entire place is nice and mellow.
Wonderful atmosphere and great alcoholic and coffee drinks. I came here with my meetup group and they accommodated a large group of us. Its so nice sitting in front of the windows when its warm and its a great place for a get together with friends. I will definitely come back!
Great spot! They have a new CBD add on option to your coffee which I love. Good food. Great place to go during the day to work if you work remotely as well. Friendly staff
This place is great! I will be back next time Im in the area. The service here is really top notch. They have the best best espresso martini in town. Come here for a chill atmosphere, good drinks and baller art. Dont touch the mustache
Why have a coffee shop without WIFI? They already have Starbucks coffee prices so it’d be strange to not be able to afford internet service. Obviously, management doesn’t know how to run an efficient business. Definitely not coming back and I don’t recommend on this place if you want to be productive in any sort of way.
Love the vibe here. Neighborhood bar with good coffee and amazing drinks.
Fantastic coffee and on-tap brews.Update: R.I.P. due to Covid-19 restaurant/bar rules. I hope they come back.
Gotta love a coffee shop with couches, a chill cozy vibe, and smores. Great space!
Warm, casual setup with several comfy seating options, a big screen, and a coffee/drinks bar. Friendly neighborhood coffee shop.
THE BEST PLACE to get some work done during the day. Great ambience- everyones on their laptops and minding their business- just how I like it. The coffee and food are pretty good too.
Best Vanilla Espresso Martini I had so far! Nice atmosphere, kind of dark, but pleasant. A lot of room, and great for doing work.
Love this place! We come here to study often during the day. It is loud but it has a great vibe. At night it is more of a bar.
Very chill spot. The staff are friendly and easy going. I was there between 11-2PM on a Wednesday to do work and it quickly filled up with other coffee shop enthusiast also working off their laptops. They had three couches with two coffee tables to make a living room space and a few rows of high tables with high chairs. I took a couch but the high tables looked just as comfortable, not to mention the bar which also had a few people on their laptops!
Comfy couches and a great book selection. Place has an interesting vibe, definitely need to come back during the day to see what its like. They turn off the WiFi at 5PM though as it transitions from coffee shop to bar so take note
Favorites UES bar to grab a drink and chill. Crowd is relaxed and down to earth. Love all the seasonal drinks too!!! Especially that spiked hot cocoa 😜
Great service and the coffee is even better! I asked them if they had something that wasnt on their menu and they happily offered to make it for me! Will definitely be back.
The music was too loud to really be a study/work atmosphere but definitely good place to come with friends to talk and chill out. The mocha was very good, didnt order any food because none of it looked very fresh. There were 2 workers, both were very nice and very efficient.
One of my favorite coffee shop/bars in the city. DTUT serves some awesome spiked hot drinks, beer, wine and cool fondue/smores for two - great date spot! They also host a challenging but fun trivia every Monday night. Highly recommend you check DTUT out if you find yourself on the UES!
DTUT is one of those places that are cool without being pretentious. Its a great place to hang out and do work during the day, but beware the WiFi is turned off on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. Thats when DTUT becomes more of a bar, still with a laid back vibe and mostly young crowd. Coffee products here are just ok, and the food selection is scarce. I liked the alcoholic drinks Ive had. They have a few board games and Jenga. I do wish the quality of the service was a little more consistent, but all in all its a neighborhood favorite of mine.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, and excellent happy hour. DTUT is great for relaxing with a later afternoon / early evening coffee or drink, or getting a little more excited late night.
Very cool spot, with great ambiance and the best playlist in the city rolling in the background. Really nice staff, very good coffee and wifi. I expected a bit more of the sandwich I had, but pretty good nonetheless. Great place if you want to do some work or just chill with a nice cup of coffee.
Pricey but cozy coffee den that also has a bar and decent noshes.
Super cozy place. Old couches, neat lighting fixtures, decent art, and a variety of drinks from coffee to cocktails (and a few that are both)
I’ve been here twice for drinks after work. It’s a nice spot. The bartenders are nice.
This place has great prices and a really awesome atmosphere. It reminded me a lot of something you would find in San Francisco. Im definitely going back.
Its like a mix between a bar and a cafe. You can get coffee or beer. Great music and really good drinks. Great place to talk or go by yourself. Love it!
This place is right near my apartment and I almost don’t want to leave a review because it’s such a gem! The baristas/bartenders are so friendly, prices are reasonable, and you can’t beat the all-day happy hour or s’mores platters. An excellent spot to work, study, chill or take a date to.
Awesome spot! One of those places that feels like home. Great coffee and good beer
Great vibes, music can get a little loud but definitely a great first date spot as there is always alcoholic and non alcoholic options, Lily is a fantastic bartender and there are couches in the back which make for a cozy spot to hang out!
Madison is awesome! Always makes me feel at home and her customer service is impeccable!
Perfect place on the upper east side to be creative and stay tethered to your tech. They have a funky creative vibe with high tables, low tables, broken couches, arm chairs and a lot of laptop action midday. Wifi seems to be cut in the evening. They have food, coffee, beer, wine and a great laid back productive vibe.
Natural setting with comfortable furnishings and friendly service. Pull up a bar stool at various tables for a drink or sink into a deep sofa with a cup of joe. Alone or with friends, youll feel welcome and at ease.
My little hole in the wall. Shhh...keep the secret and only invite the best of the best. Great servers, couches, games, great to study at during the day and great to chill at night.
My favorite upper east side coffee shop! An organic, rustic little place with Irving Farm coffee and a wide variety of wine, beer and pastries. Its often difficult to find gems like this in one of Manhattans poshest districts. DTUT is one-of-a-kind, with taxidermy on the walls, individualized mugs, friendly staff, folky music, family style tables, couches, and an open feel that makes for the perfect city escape. Ideal for reading, writing, working, or catching up with a friend. They also host events and private parties. Cant recommend this place enough!
Had a great time here with plenty of seating and good coffee!
Im so glad that DTUT has returned to the UES and has really re-established itself. Years ago, my friends and I referred to DTUT as the ultimate first date spot -- while I dont need it for this purpose anymore, it still holds true. The environment is fantastic though - great music, coffee, food and drink. The atmosphere changes as the day progresses - fun hang-out during the day, but still a good place to get some work done if you want to get out of the house. At night - darker, cooler, more intimate -- hang out with some friends or make some new ones!
Coffee, beer and cocktails - theres something for everyone. Its a great place to go to at 6 PM when most coffee shops are closed. Good staff too. Check out their smores for two deals
Spacious cafe and bar with nice cocktails and smores and chocolate fondue on the menu. So, pretty much everything I like in one place. Good for small groups.
