Can’t speak to everyone that works there but the one staff member with whom I did interact was rude AF with lots of confrontational attitude that was totally unnecessary. I left. What a shame too because it’s such an excellent brand. Also, very small supply in store and it’s definitely more of the flashy stuff that’s appropriate for Soho vs. the real daily workwear that made the brand what it is. So if that’s what you’re looking for don’t bother going here. This store is a total miss.
I just left this location, staff was so rude I had to see if I was tripping so I checked their reviews and sure enough everyone is just as disgusted as I was! I have never had such an awful experience at a retail store, not sure what the ego complex is with these employees, but you receive better treatment literally anywhere else. Miserable staff! 0/5 stars. If you want to feel unwelcomed, this is the place for you!
Love the ladies. Super helpful and beautiful souls too 💞
My experience here was HORRIBLE....!!! The sales team is Deplorable...!! I was the only female in the store and getting the only female team member to even speak to me was unrealistically challenging. When she finally did, at the prodding of her coworker, it was as if I had completely interrupted her day. Now please understand that I can TOTALLY sympathize with having a bad day or simply not wanting to engage....but if that is the case, beg off for the day. With all everyone has been through in the past year there are a million excuses. However, if you decide to stay, at least be pleasant. The response I received about an item was rude and condescending, which is unfortunate. I Already Love the line and wanted to support your brick and mortar. You just lost a serious customer....☹️ One Star.... only so this would post. I wish I could insert a negative sign.
You can sense the ineptitude of the staff before sitting foot into the store. lines with barely any shoppers inside; desperately trying to show off at the expense of respecting customers. pitiful “marketing” scheme. do not waste your time.
Staff were so rude. Having their own conversation and just being on their phones. We were the only people in the store and still had to ask for help. Just awful.
The staff in this store are so rude. Every time I go in there it’s a bad experience. Love the clothes but they need better hiring and training practices.
The sales team needs to be replaced. Came in looking to buy at least two t-shirts. The sales clerk was insanely rude and questioned whether I would actually purchase the shirts. I got the worst vibe from them. I just decided to take my money elsewhere. Im a reasonable person, and I understand they get their share of crazy folks, but this should not translate into disrespect for someone who wants to purchase.SKIP THIS STORE!
I thought the other reviews were probably exaggerated but I was completely wrong. The worst attitude and demeanor of retail staff Ive ever come across. Only reason I went in was for a specific jacket which they had in my size, or else I would have bought it online. If you know your size and what you want, buy it on the WIP site, otherwise go in with the expectation that the staff will act like you are inconveniencing them by shopping in this location.
If I could give this store zero stars I would, when we entered the door everything seemed fine, my husband and I knew what we walked in for my husband wanted a hat, every single employee was too entertained taking out the new stock and having a pointless conversation with each other, when we got in front of the cashier and my husband asked something about a hat no one bothered answering I had to answer and I don’t even work there. The employee next to us continued giving us her back until I directly approached her about the hat. They made me feel as in I walked in asking to get things for free, we ended up making the purchase because we really wanted the hat and really liked the sweater but If I find another store I would deff run away from this one. They were so RUDE.
There were two female employees there that eye rolled when I asked to try anything on. Just go online to find the stuff from here to avoid the service
ONLY allows exchanges and returns at this specific store, not online. “We don’t force people to buy stuff.”
Used to love visiting this store but my most recent experience was awful. The white girl working with darker hair was complaining the entire time I was in the store not only about her personal life but the customers in general... Maybe don’t work a retail job if you can’t handle such simple tasks? Don’t talk about customers when you’re in a room full of them. And lastly don’t act like you’re too good to help someone when you’re a retail employee haha. Complete embarrassment to this establishment. So much I wanted to buy but didn’t just because the energy of this one girl. I felt bad for the other employees who deal with her.
Bought a size 29 waist paint, got home and they must have been a size 39. Looked like a subway weight loss ad. No returns.
Why are the staff here so rude? Anyone would think I was inconveniencing them deciding to come in and support this business. Like why am I even here? SERIOUSLY Carhartt, Ive been buying your wip stuff for years. Been a brand ambassador for you when people have asked. But what for? To come in and be ignored, only to ask for help and made to feel like a weirdo and very unwelcome in general. I left and took my $ with me.
It has been way overdo for my updated review. Carhartt please accept my deepest apologies for my lack of patience and ignorance. I was contacted by someone who let me know that what I thought was a defect, is actually a space for your pen or marker. Please forgive me and thank you for this wonderful jacket, it truly surpassed my expectations.
I usually feel like negative reviews are not particularly accurate - people can be demanding. However, the attitude that the people project in this store is pathetic and resonated with the reviews. I’ve worked in and with people in streetwear for a few years now, and I don’t think I’ve ever encountered people with such a horrible sense of privilege without any self-awareness whatsoever. I hope they are able to stay open and keep everyone employed during the pandemic, but I’d advise to order online so you can avoid the staff here.
Terrible customer service. It seemed that we were an inconvenience. Woman behind the counter was rude and had an attitude.
This store is for hipsters. Theres literally no actual workwear here.
Rude staff. Too cool for school. Why even work in retail?!?!
Not open at 1:15pm on a Monday.
The staff here were rude and the return policies are ridiculous (you can’t return online orders in-store, and you can only exchange in-store items for credit). Not shopping here again.
Not a real Carhartt store. It is the European Line of Carhartt, not the working mans brand everyone knows them for. They say the styles at this NYC branch are slimmer than regular work wear, smaller sizes, made of different material then work wear - less durable. Basically it is a store for rich people who would never actually bother to get their hands dirty at work, but want to pretend like they do in public. What a waste of half a day finding my way there.
Not a Carhart store... just says carhart. Walked in looking for yellow rain jacket.. so... i was called out.. You have the wrong brand! they told me this some bs sub brand!! Yall are a joke!!! And oh so rude!!!Find a real work gear store!!!
Very poor customer service and rude employees, so why buy from them? We weren’t allowed to try on clothes, not even a hat! 6 employees for two of us in a 200 sq.ft. store and no one wanted to assist us.
Pretty hilarious all the people complaining about carhart WIP. This is exactly why carhart didn’t let WIP stores in the US for so long. The close are great but more expensive, the fits are better for people that find traditional carhart much too boxy.
Only street wear. Not work clothes. 🤨☹️
Literally the worst vibes up in here. Employees so rude
I was the first customer here as soon as they opened doors at noon; i wanted to buy a coat, no one asked me for help, 5 employees, no other customers, tried on two coats, wanted one but decided not to buy, better of online shopping...customer service is dead
Wide variety of clothing, staff is dismissive. Better to buy online.
I drove a hour to this Carhartt location, on Google maps it says it closes @7pm, however they actually close @6pm. It was difficult find the store using the map, however I arrived at store 10 minutes before 6pm, as I walk toward the store “ Tim the manager “ let 2 guest in the store, when I got to the door he then denied me access to come in reguardless of the store being empty with only 3 guest inside. He claimed that they didn’t have time to assist me, and that they wanted to leave. His tone & demeanor was rude and disrespectful. I don’t think I’ll be shopping here again.
Went into the store few days back with my girl. Terrible customer service, we were browsing a rack and employee basically pushed us out the way to put back a jacket. Didn’t even acknowledge us. Clothes are nice but customer service makes me not want to return.
Clothes are dope. Customer service is horrendous. Im a local - not a transplant so I get that maybe they dont want to deal with every tourist that comes in, but COME ON. Clean house and start over. ONLY REASON I put 3 stars was cause I liked my shirt.
VISITED AND PURCHASED FROM THS LOCATION ON A FEW DIFFERENT OCCASIONS(Because it’s the closest to my job) AND EACH TIME THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE I GET BEING SHORT STAFFED DURING PEAK HOURS HOWEVER A SIMPLE HELLO AND IMMEDIATE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE CONSUMER ENTERING AND EXITING YOUR STORE INCREASES YOUR CONVERSION. INAPPROPRIATE SIDE CONVERSATIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. ORDERING ONLINE GO FORWARD
Awful experience, staff were rude, abrupt and unhelpful. Thought they were too cool to interact with customers or make an effort. Also a lack of products i.e. sizes/colours, much better shopping online. As the NY store I thought there would be a better selection.
Not too sure what was going on here, seemed like I walked into a club. Everything was really expensive and none of the staff came over when not busy. Not sure how their $50 classic hat compares to the $15 hat you can buy off amazon, but would’ve loved an explanation from the staff.
Worst experience ever...do not enter the shop it s not worth it. Not even saying hello. The vendors were 3 and not even one to help me look for a size. Talking as if you were disturbing them in a cafeGoing elsewhere to buy my stuff with better service.
Wow! Never have I been treated with such little respect in a shop before. I bought a T-shirt and the Australian guy at the pay desk was so unpolite. I was super friendly when I approached him but he couldn’t care to smile or talk to me, he basically threw the unfolded shirt at me, looked away, and didn’t even thank or greet me. Carhartt should review their staff for this shop or they’ll lose customers.
Did not have workwear I was looking for as this is their fashion line store. However still 5 stars as staff spent the time to give me two suggestions of stores that carry work wear line and where friendly. I had read other reviews of poor staff but that seems to have changed. I experienced great staff. Thanks.
I ordered from their online store. I attempted to return a few items from my order, but missed the 14-day return window by 2 days because I had to leave town unexpectedly for work. I reached out to customer service thinking surely they would make an exception to their policy if I explained the circumstances as just about every retailer at this price point in my experience has been more than willing to make an exception. To my surprise, no willingness to budge. Store credit or exchange only. Now Im stuck with $700 in store credit. Will not support this company any more.
Took a train from my job to this location for work jeans. Not one person tried to help me for some odd reason when in fact I was ready and able to buy a few pairs of jeans. Asked one of the employees to get my size for the Klondike pant jeans. Kid just gave me a dirty look and went on without searching his inventory. At this point I dropped everything I had in my hands and walked out. Think about it, 4-5 pairs of jeans @ $130+ each and 3 shirts that I had in my hands. This place needs to replace their entire staff. Saved a bunch of money buying everything on Amazon!!!
Sunday crew was unenthusiastic to say the least. The woman at the register, didn’t catch her name, was friendly, the men however.... completely unapproachable and had no personality. They seemed bothered by our inquiries and sizing request. Not sure how much nicer we could’ve asked. We were buying customers not window shoppers. Cause of the men, they lost a good sale.
Customer service could be improved
Not sure why I was ignored and treated like a horrible inconvenience when asking “do you have this in size medium” but went in twice today hoping I might see a more helpful associate the second time. Not the case. Won’t be back.
Been wanting to stop in since the store reopened and finally got a chance to last week. I was hoping to pick up some womens clothing, but the store hasnt started to carry them yet. The assistant manager was really helpful though and I ended up picking up some items for myself, as well as a gift for another. Definitely a good, new vibe in the store.
Was shocked at the customer service here. Barley got a hello and goodbye while I was mind you - carrying shopping bags and wearing head to toe workwear, including their product. I felt uncomfortable, like I was interfering with their day and conversation, which honestly was all about how other brands have carried them before and been horrible to work with. I’ll resort to buying from other retailers who make badass workwear and value offer an actual customer service experience. Who’s running this place?
Products are great but the previous reviewers are right in that the customer service for this location is quite poor. brick and mortar store also has an outdated return policy (store credit only). would buy their products online or from third party retailers instead
Just tried to return something expensive and could only get store credit. Very lame. NO ONE TOLD ME THE ITEMS IN THE STORE WERE FINAL SALE AND OF COURSE, WHY WOULD I ASSUME THEY WOULD BE WHEN I HAVE RETURNED MANY ITEMS ONLINE WITH NO TROUBLE. When I looked around I saw THE TINIEST LITTLE PLAQUE IN THE DARK NEXT TO THE REGISTER IN 14pt FONT INDICATING RETURN POLICY. Not good enough. Sales person told me the online store and actual store are separate entities but they need to be telling people that when they check out because it’s really irresponsible not to. It’s forcing people to spend money if they are not informed. Holding money hostage. The sales person was also like: “it’s a $300 garment” and it’s like SO WHAT SO IS EVERYTHING. It isn’t Givenchy, it’s Carhartt, not so fancy that you shouldnt be able to return...its not haute couture. Just absolute snobbery at a mediocre clothing store. I want my money back but I guess Ill be going back for more ill fitting pants that Ill be disappointed in.
The Aussie guys working here when I visited was way too cool to be bothered helping anybody. I thought it might just have been me, but a group of people walked in when I was there and he was rude to them too.Its a shame. I like Carhartt clothes.
My interactions with the staff were super abrupt, which I get I guess, but what really threw me off is how they spent the entire 10 minutes we were there, talking smack about another employee who wasn’t there, one guy commented a few times “Everyone’s going to end up fired eventually if things continue this way” They spent 10 minutes having a conversation across the store complaining about the inter store BS they seem to be encountering. it was the biggest let down of my entire trip, the rudest people (the only rude people actually) I had encountered on my trip, and by the end of it all I could think was why would I ever buy something here?
Lady was friendly man got a fresh jacket from the back awesome service
The workers there had horrible attitudes, they have not a clue about their brand history and most importantly how to treat an customer. Made me felt like I was being looked down on when I asked them about questions toward the price point and the design. They need to get of their high horse.
Was disappointed in their only stocking of fashion Carhartt - no heavy-duty (or any) work gear, for which their quality made their brand known..Three stars because as a redeeming factor to the equation, the staff member directed me to a local construction clothing store locally. If youre looking for Carharrt brand construction apparel close by, head to Daves - 8th ave between 16th & 17th st, Manhattan.
Pants are my waist size but the Johnson have terrible stitching 3 pairs and 3 problems 2 of them came with fraying indicating poor stitch work. Sad cause I wear REGULAR carhart pants and have never had problems but the fashion brand is pathetic in comparison. How can you uphold the values of an established company know for their commitment to work apparel and you wear it when your off work and it’s like confetti paper. I’ll contin to get their work apparel but WIP has a lot of work to progress through.
How’s is this store still in businesses with that staff is beyond me, go to Dave’s on 6th ave where prices are better and don’t even get me started in the costumer service difference
Really like their cloths, but staff in this location is very volatile in terms of service. At recent visit staff was so unfriendly, that I left the store after trying on 2 items and just ordered online...
I feel compelled to respond to what I think is unfair some criticism of this store and its staff. The Aussie guy with the glasses that some reviewers have complained about in person, (whos name is Benny) was nothing but patient, helpful and friendly. He took the time to help me find what I wanted, and after trying on three sizes that werent quite right, assisted me with ordering the exact garment I needed online from within the store. All of this on a busy Saturday afternoon. Great guy who does his job well. The store has a reasonable range of stock on display, but perhaps the people who complain about limited stock dont realise there are loads more garments in various sizes in drawers below the displayed stock, and also in the back storeroom. Finally, yes Carhartts expensive (thats why the shops in that part of town), but the quality of the product is generally worth what you pay for it. My experience in this store was nothing but positive.
Great, but they need a location in Northern Jersey!!!
Had either of the two staff bothered to greet me, let alone ask me if I needed help I might have stayed longer. As it was the selection was scant, and the service non existent. A shame, I was keen to buy...
Love carhartt and this location, the clothing here is more tailored to fit your body type, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Had a great experience here thank you :)
Its not a work wear shop!! Great selection of clothing if thats what you are looking for.
Great staff and excellent selection of clothing and bags.
The guy at the desk shaved head mustache is a little twerp
I ORDERED ITEMS FROM ONLINE STORE BUT SIZE WASNT RIGHT! i was trying to exchange items but never get any details how to return or exchange!after sending few emails i never got any respond!now im stuck with the clothing i will never wear!very disappointed and will NEVER support this brand!
So expensive as u Can buy Carhartt goods for half Price in NYC
Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. I used to wear carhartt daily but will never again. Reveived a $350 jacket as a gift and they wouldn’t let me exchange to my size 17 days after purchase despite it being a gift. I’m usually a large in carhartt but apparently WIP runs small. No one to talk to, no phone number, Just automated emails. Extremely upset do not shop at WIP you will be let down. I now have a $350 jacket that I will never be able to wear brand new with tags on it. Never experienced such poor service in my life!
Great customer service and a cool store all around
Horrid, the employees were useless and rather mean and arrogant, I had to ask one guy to help me find my size before I just left. Really bad experience I don’t recommend going at all!!!!
Cool designs you cant get at other Carhartt stores. Staff is friendly and helpful.
New store way better than old small spot, selection is on top staff are nice dudes, way better then Supreme cool guy attitudes. love WIP
I shop here from time to time. The staff are pretty inexplicable rude, especially the Australian guy.
Fab urban street art on the walls. Great T-shirts. Couldnt resist a couple of sweat bands for my bros bday. Drop an F-Bomb load of money every time I come here. Gotta give em 5 duckets for being the shiznit.
Horrible customer service and highly unprofessional. No wonder retail is going down the drain. Buyers beware....
I couldnt agree more with the previous comments about the horrible staff. They are more interested in watching videos on their phones, and joking around with each other, then they are in helping customers. I really like the work in progress line, however I refuse to shop in a store that employees a staff consisting of a bunch arrogant, pretentious *****.
Quality product, great customer service & easy vibe. The staff here was extremely helpful in helping me find the appropriate parka & fitI was looking for.
The worst experience ever! Carhartt should stick to their third party sellers, working as a salesperson at Carhartt doesn’t mean you have to be hard and look mean! You’re just a salesperson not a rapper from the 90’s
Great spot to pickup gear for the five seasons
Not very nice service, you better off ordering online.
Very uninterested personel this Sunday. Sighed aloud when we entered the store and was very unwilling to help out with sizing.
Get new staff! They are so rude!
Id have to second Phillip on this. Absolutely the worst staff Ive ever encountered. I literally found what I wanted and decided not to purchase it, just because it pained me too much to think my money would be going to pay these idiots. No wonder Carhartt was apprehensive to do anything but workwear in America; ignorant hype beasts get a hold of it and tarnish the name. Way to go! Really though, I think an employee was wearing a sweat band and wife beater. Sincerely disappointed.
Rude didnt even want to help me at all dismissed everything I said
Friendly staff but no big selection of articles. Its better to shop online.
Australian guy needs a personal spa day really badly
Great stuff and good selection with a good staff
Shxt man working here. Act like a fool
Nice store love it !
Don’t walk in here unless you want to be treated like a second class citizen.
I went here looking for Carhhart work jeans which were $100+ dollars! They also have some skinny/thinner Carhhart jeans which were awesome and I didnt know they made. But the prices are extremely outrageous compared to regular store that sell the same Carhhart jeans. If you are rich or stupid and want to pay $100+ for every pair of pants in here then go for it.
The hipster-style (the one with glasses) vendor is really unfriendly . He makes you feel like you are not welcome and it seems to really annoy him to look for your size. So he will tell you the clothes you are trying suits you whatever the size.
Everything was wayyyyyy to expensive but I enjoyed looking at everything!
Awful store full of bullshit hypebeasts. This store could take a lesson in helpfulness and customer service. The manager must be just as clueless.
A little bit of an odd location, I almost missed it when I walked by it. Inside its small but has a good stock and helpful staff.
Get all your work gear
This is not a workwear store. this is carhartts fashion line. dont go here looking for workwear. big disappointment
Good quality clothes and lovable color coded racks of apparel. Mostly for streetwear seekers rather than work wear, due to pricing of most items opposed to the regular Carhartt.
