Dropped in for a flat fix and the owner had me back on the road in no time. Very knowledgeable and an all around friendly guy. Stop by and support your local small business.
Great little shop...had a rear flat tire and he had me riding again in 15 minutes. Great Service!
Legit spot to get your bicycle maintenance done properly. Support your local small business!
I had a problem with my front tire while I was in the neighborhood, and was able to get it fixed here right away. Off the Bridge is great! Quick, friendly, and well-priced for repairs
Super fast repair! Thank you for fixing my flat tire in 10 min! :)
Super fast & knowledgeable.
The mechanic knows his stuff; always helpful, works fast and he doesnt overcharge! Happy to have found him!
Very fast service and reasonable labor price on repair make this my new go to bicycle shop in town. The manager is the repair person and he is a straight shooter who is very knowledgeable in all aspects of bike repair. I am in an out within ten minutes on what would be an hour long repair process had i gone to one of the other bicycle stores in town.
Easy and quick service. Thank you!
Quick and efficient service. Fixed my flat in a second, right after he opened his shop. Thank you!
Quick service, reasonable rates.
Needed to replace a tube in the rear wheel of my Dahon folding bike. Dropped in for a repair and was back on the road in under 10 minutes. Super helpful, efficient, and reasonably priced! Thank you!
Went in for a pedal install during lunch was in and out in less than 25 min.....Nice Guy
Pretty rude and dismissive. I was surprised the man there would rather talk to his friends than help eager customers who came all the way over with real concerns. Even just to say pls give us a moment. Made me wait while he chatted with people only to tell me he was closed right after. Wow.
Fantastic service!!! Best bike shop experience EVER. I have been biking in NYC for over 15 years and have visited many bike shops. This was by far the best. Quick, convenient and coffee too. :-) The owner obviously loves what he is doing and was so pleasant to talk with. He was very kind. He went over and beyond to help me with my bike, fixing all sorts of little things without even charging me. Very fair prices as well. I will definitely go back. Its even worth going out of your way to get there. My only suggestion is to get some stools at the coffee bar so we can sit and enjoy our cappuccino while we wait for our bikes. Thanks again! Great service!
The guy knows his stuff about bikes. Best bicycle mechanic in NYC!
Best service youll get. With the stand front and center in the shop you have the opportunity to converse with Qian, who is a super friendly guy offering advice and insight and even tuned my brakes after fixing a flat for free. Youre lucky to find this place when you do.
Thanks for your words of wisdom. True bike mechanic you probably wont find anywhere else.
Quick and trustworthy service. I highly suggest using this shop for repairs.
Always the best service and prices. My favorite bike shop in town! Thank you!
Great prices and he does great work
Ive had a couple experiences with this shop. Qian is the best, always helpful with suggestions and does honest work at a fair price. You can tell they want to do the job well, no matter how small of a task.
I never go anywhere else but HERE. Off the bridges owner is always courteous and respectful and very knowledgeable of everything bike related. He won’t charge you a crazy amount like other big name spots. He once applied a rack to the rear of my bike that THREE other big businesses said was impossible to do and he did it in 10 minutes perfectly. I only wish I could throw him more business. I won’t go anywhere else but here. Even if it were an emergency and he was closed I would wait till he opened then go elsewhere. And great coffee too.
Just stopped by for a quick tire change on my way in to work. Fast, friendly, and well done. I’ll be going back here for all my tune-up needs from now on!
The service here is expensive 😱😡
Prompt, friendly and professional bike service. I highly recommend.
Qian, is super knowledgeable about bikes. He was very quick and detailed with the full bike repair I needed. Also cost efficient and fair about pricing and parts and what needed to be done so I could happily ride a bike I found on the street. I also got a great bike lock at his recommendation at the bike shop/cafe that will serve me well that was also very fairly priced and the one of the best on the market. I will definitely recommend him to all my friends. He is friendly, knowledgeable about bikes and a small business owner! Support your small local businesses! :)
***Update 01/10/19***The bike shop has moved to a new location a block away from its previous location. Same friendly quality service!***Great place to get your bike fixed while on your commute in the morning, open from 8am. I had a flat on the other side of the bridge, got it fixed here. Very knowledgeable and friendly, he even had a new tire in stock to replace my worn out one.*** Update 02/29/16 ***Have visited here several times now, still great and friendly service. Had my chain, gear cog & rear wheel replaced here as well. Well worth the visit.
Great spot for bike repairs and upgrades. Once they get settled in from the recent move, coffee will be back on as well, and its good coffee!
This is the ONLY place in NYC I trust with my bike. Qian is super thorough, honest, and always does an amazing job. He wont treat you like a child if youre not up on your mechanical terminology, and he certainly wont overcharge for simple fixes like so many other shops do. Great coffee too!
I had a serendipitous breakdown in front of Off the Bridge. Qian expertly replaced my cracked flywheel, made some adjustments and got me back on my commute to Brooklyn. He is as nice as he is knowledgeable, and clearly a neighborhood favorite with several locals stopping in to say hi in the short time I was there. He knows what hes doing, carries a small but useful inventory of gear and offered the type of advice that only comes from years of experience. I recommend their services and look forward to stopping in for a cup of coffee in the near future.
Why did I wait so long to start coming here?! Amazing, honest, fast service. My saddle got stolen last night and I biked down here and left with a perfect replacement and a tune-up to boot. Won my loyalty in one visit - thanks!
6 stars!!! qian was amazing and i can’t recommend him enough. i got a flat before i hit the bridge back to brooklyn. he did the most thorough check of any bike shop i’ve EVER been to. he explained i had a decent roll tire but not one that protected my tube much. he proceeded to line my tire with an old tire and a tube. also gave great advice on how to really keep my beater up to snuff for the long haul. i also had him trim my handle bars. i’ll come back to him for future repairs because he is super knowledgeable and goes WAY above and beyond on service. reasonably priced and doesn’t oversell you on anything.
Qian was fast, efficient, friendly, and transparent. I always enjoy supporting local businesses and this one is great. Highly recommend!!
Had a fantastic experience here. Brought my CAAD10 in due to issues with shifting and a need to install a new rear derailleur. Got immediate & friendly help and a very thorough servicing for a great price.Highly recommend!
The best help I got an bike shop today n my life. I work for Postmates so I spend quite sometime on my bike. The man at this shop doesnt try to sell you things you dont need, doesnt overprice you. Plus hes honest about what you need. Would refer all my friends and family for theyre repairs or even help purchasing a new bike.
Awesome service and super sharp prices too!
This guy is great. Very friendly and skilled. Must be the best. I wish him a bright future ahead my man
Got a bunch of small repairs and adjustments done: Out in 20 minutes, for $10, with clear communication and some helpful tips.
The owner is so nice and helpful. He explains things and isnt dismissive like people at other bike shops can be. Definitely my go-to place now.
I had a flat changed here. It blew out same night. They would not replace or re-do it. Very judgey, if your bike is not up to their standard, they dismiss any questions on how to optimize your setup, as if its not worth their holier than thou time
This became my go-to bike shop when I spent three months in Brooklyn (biking to SoHo every day across the Manhattan bridge). Got lots of good, direct, no-BS advice about biking & having a bike in New York (different than back home in Portland!), plus some repairs that made my bike even better. And the location cant be beat.
Great service and no BS. Qian will take care of your bike, do the right job and wont try and sell you something you dont need. I will certainly be back.
What a legend! Super nice and helpful!
Outstanding Bike Mechanic!!! And hes 💯% New Yorker(Hustle Hustle Hustle) and his prices are very fare.
Received stellar walk-in service. Now I plan to travel from Brooklyn to make this my regular bike repair shop. Very impressed!
Had a flat going from the ferry at Pier 11 to Mid Town and didnt have my repair kit with me. Really appreciated that Off the Bridge was open at 0800 and his fast, honest and practical approach even offering different pricing options and making adjustments with advice as to why, when and how adjustments are needed. As stated earlier he was opened by 0800 when all the others in the area were opening at 0900 or 1000. Thank you.
Outstanding service. Came in with 2 childrens bicycles with flat tires. The owner inflated the inner tube of one of them, and pumped the other tires with air and helped me get the bicycles into the trunk of a taxi... amazing....I will be back....
Excellent knowledgeable quick service. Will be back.
Anybody who puts a café alongside the business deserves a shout out. Brilliant, solid & unassuming guy, Qian’s corner bike store is actually quite charming. Love supporting small business and nice chap like this...
1.11.18 - stopped in to talk shop because I got into a crash and warped my fork. We talked about options from overhauling a bike thats been sitting with me to building something from parts for the time being. Creative and willing to help out.***Original Review***One of the best bike mechanics in NYC. Most of the seasoned mechanics in NYC were recruited into the Citibike program, so good mechanics arent in the shops anymore. The owner, Qian, is transparent and extremely fair. Hes a business owner, but hes not a hack wholl overcharge you for a simple fix. Hell give you advice on how to do it yourself if its something he thinks you can do, which means he values his and your time with your bike. The coffee is pretty good if youre inclined to support that part of his business, too.Bottom line is, you cant go wrong with this shop.
This guy is very unprofessional I asked him a general question about payment and he told me I could not come back, took a picture of me, and denied me paying him. He was very rude and if this is how he handles inquiries I would be wary of doing business with him.
Great coffee. Expert level bike service. A true master of repair
He trued my rear wheel quickly — early in the morning — while I had a great cup of coffee :)
***** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! *****I have been biking for 49 years. And Ill say that in all this time I have not come across a better place for a more sincere evaluation and the quick solving of all sorts of bicycle mechanical issues that have come up.Here I have had problems and quirks solved, that other bicycle businesses did not solve for my bikes. There is a great sense that the owner, Qian, wants the bike to be safe and better to ride when you leave. Which has in fact been the case. I have been there probably 8 times, with different bike problems. Some simple, some complex -and always been impressed with Qians involvement in the work, good advice and just figuring things out.
I went here just for coffee, pretty cheap and really good. I now understand why there were so many bikes.
Always quick work, honest opinions and great value for money. Highly recommend!!
My friend John came in and asked kindly to use a tool... Bluntly refused and offered a lecture on riders should carry their own tools... Disgusting service I will avoid this shop in future !!!
Great service, thanks for taking good care of me.
Great, friendly service. The only place I trust to get my bike fixed/repaired.
Cool staff.. Great prices. Convenient location
I have an 83 Peugeot mixte with a Simplex SX rear derailleur that uses friction shifting. When Id bought it I was told that it was one of the best friction shifters ever made and can work just as well as an index shifter. But for some reason after getting it from the bike dealer and having it inspected at multiple bike shops in Brooklyn (of all places this is the borough that should know how to fix this problem) my derailleur always acted wonky. It was hard to shift, kept jumping gears, and sometimes got stuck in one gear. Each mechanic told me that friction shifters are just inherently lousy and poorly designed, which didnt jive with the positive comments Id read about the SX at bike forums. Clearly something was amiss but I gave up and resigned myself to life with a lousy rear derailleur. On a whim I stopped by Off the Bridge to get my chain looked at and Qian went and did some magic on the bike. He told me there were problems with my bike and to come back in an hour. So I go to get lunch and when I came back he said he fixed a bunch of problems with the Simplex. So I take it out for a test ride and lo and behold I had a new bike! The rear derailleur worked perfectly and was easier to use than the brifters on my $2,000 Specialized road bike. And the cost to fix? About $30. I would have paid *much* more. Now my Peugeot mixte is the ultimate city commuter! I absolutely adore this bike now and its easily the most comfortable in my stable. Thank you, Qian!!
Solid honest dude that knows his stuff and won’t rip you off.
Honest and excellent service! Highly recommend.
Quick and professional for bile repairs!
What a conscientious dude! Exemplary diagnosis and repair (not like Im an expert but), all very reasonable and a great location to tailor to commuters.
They helped me on the spot. Friendly, competent, to recommend. Im go back there for my regular bike maintenance now.
They serve Irving coffee and owner is present to make expedient and complete repairs. Owner pointed out inconsistencies in previous repairs and fixed critical flaws. Highly recommended.
Most friendly guy. Excellent service and willing to go the extra mile. Ill be back.
He is the man!!! Great service !!!
Havent been in the store yet, but the owner, Qian rescued me from the bike tragedy I was living out in the middle off the Manhattan bridge. He helped get my damaged derailleur/chain to a rideable state so I could get to where I was going. I can only imagine the store is amazing, Ill be in soon to check it out.
The owner is a great mechanic and a very friendly guy.
Fair prices, great coffee, and the guy that runs the shop definitely knows his stuff! Get to know this guy, hell take care of you :)
Great place! Great coffee! And a true professional taking care of your bike.
Expert service, quick turnaround and fair prices make this place indispensable for anyone who depends on a bike to get around.
Great guy, honest, fast, affordable, and fair ...Also he gave me great tips on how to purchase a good bike !!
Fast, attentive, honest and the dude clearly knows his stuff!
John Hicks put your shop on blast in his YouTube video. Do you rent Bikes? Looking to come visit NY beginning of next year.
Great espresso and the best bike repairs in town. Super knowledgable and reasonable.
Qian is a pro. I a have had LBS in MA, ME, FL and NJ as well as in Luxembourg and London during years abroad.Off the Bridge and I crossed paths today when I had a flat on my folding Citizen. Didnt have a wrench to remove wheel - took it out of bag and forgot to put it back!Googled and found Qians shop was 1 miles away and opening at 8AM ... almost none of the Manhattan based shops open that early and precious few are near the Two Bridges or South Manhattan area.Qians small shop is fabulous - geared to clients and repairs with just right amount of gear. A city dweller or commuters haven. And coffee to boot.I dont live close but I cycle nearby every day. So this is my new go to LBS and it should be yours.
This shop is a huge asset to commuters. Qian does great work and is a pleasure to deal with.
Qian is the man. Don’t go to anyone else in New York!!!! He’ll fix your bike or make it better no matter what, for a fair and affordable price.
Best bike shop in the city. Fast, super friendly and always looking out for his customers, always trying to get the best deals of me.
Absolutely the best bike store; wonderful, friendly service at fair prices and coffee too!
Thank you Qian! Thorough, honest repair.
Fast, friendly, convenient bike service PLUS great coffee while you wait
Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, works fast and efficiently.
Great service - friendly, fair and transparent.
Excellent work, very thorough, honest and transparent pricing
Qian is a great mechanic.
Twice I went into this shop to ask for service and each time I was told the owner would follow up and he didnt. Pretty disappointing.
Best part was going downhill
Very rude no hospitality whatsoever.
Good coffee and service!
Great bike shop
Not open when it says it will be.
Pros at bikes and coffee.
My lbs!
