On our 15th anniversary together, my husband and I booked the central park bike tour. We picked up our bikes a block away from the park. Bikes were in great condition. Phillip was our guide and was very informative. Amazing how much history there is in a city. Thank you Phillip for the tour. We enjoyed all the stops in the park and its beauty.
I had a great 2 hour rental, which was just about right amount of time for a trip around Central Park. The bike rode well, and this location was perfect, only a block away from one of the parks entrances. The service was good but they were busy, so be patient. I would recommend, and check their Groupon.
I like staffs here. Very friendly and kind. I had good experiences. Thank you from South Korea.
Nice service, Erkin really nice guy
The owners behavior changed to being rude after knowing that we have booked our bikes on Groupon. The bikes were ok.
Great price for the rental, 3 hours is plenty of time to see Central Park. Handy that they give you a lock and I like that you can get a basket for a couple dollars extra. The 15 minute grace period is perfect for tourists that dont know where they are.Customer Service definitely could be better, the employees seemed unimpressed and forgot about customers listening in. Great experience over all though!
Very friendly staff! And prices are very good!
Stopped by a few days ago because our bike needed a quick adjustment. Folks here were so nice, they took the bike, fixed it in about 5 minutes and wouldnt charge us for the repair. WOW. Who does this anymore.
Unprofessional people work here, I rented 4 bikes from this place. One of the bikes the chain completely snapped in half not even half way through Central Park. I had to walk Central Park with the bike by my side and took it back to the place and the guy that works there told me it was my fault that the chain broke.....I noticed the chain was all rusted like no one is taking care of these bikes the tires were all worn out. What kind of trash business these people are running. He didn’t even consider giving me money back for the one bike or anything he literally said okay you’re all set. So I had to pay rental on 4 bikes for what. If anyone is reading this I suggest you to find some other place because these people are not diligent with their job at all.
We were looking around at various prices for bikes and stumbled upon someone, Doug, in the street promoting this company. The cost was a bit too much so he offered us a 3h rental for the price of 1h. That worked great for us! We also rented a basket for my bike ($1). My bike had a broken bell and the gears couldn’t shift above 3, but it worked out fine. My husbands bike didn’t have a bell. I would prefer to have a bell but it is what it is. The ride around Central Park took us about 2.5 hours with many stops and explorations. There is an uphill part on the north end of the park which may make others take longer. Overall great experience.
Very nice
Rented bikes for 2 hours to experience Central ParkCentral Park Bikes Rentals are reasonably priced rentals. The bikes are well maintained on site, which gives one comfort knowing the bike will be reliable during the ride.Though the shop is a busy area, the staff remains helpful and friendly, listening to each clients concerns and needs.I will recommend this company to many people. Thanks everyone!
We rented two bikes for 2 hrs ($43). The staff were quick and easy to deal with. They offer baskets, insurance as well; non of which we purchased. Great location. About one block away from the park. Bikes were in good condition. Good experience with them and a nice way to see Central Park. One tip: 3 hr rental is the way to go. There are a few hills that are a workout. 😅 we stopped by the fountain, a couple other places and were pushing for time. Definitely need at least 3 hrs to bike around the park with several stops for photos etc and not feel rushed. We would rent again here.

We rented bikes for a ride in Central Park on our recent visit to NYC. The location is good, just a block south of the southern end of the park. We opted to walk our bikes to the park entrance rather than ride just to be safe. The bikes were good quality and we didn’t have any issues with them during our 2 hour ride. We were able to ride the complete perimeter of the park, around 6 miles with some stops to sightsee along the way. FYI Central Park has some big hills, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a bike ride there. We had to stop and walk our bikes up some of the steeper ones due to some in our party who were struggling, but it was still fun. Getting the actual bikes and returning them was an easy process and the staff was helpful in all aspects of the experience. We would definitely rent bikes from this location again on our next visit.
Decided to grab bikes to journey through Central Park today. It was a great experience all around. Awesome price, bike quality was good, and Central is beautiful as always. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Showed up, got in line, and got my bike fairly quickly. I walked it to Central Park and as soon as I got on the bike, I realized the chain on the bike was broken. So I had to walk all the way back to get a new bike.Other than that it was fine but the walk back and forth ate in to the two hours that we paid for which was annoying. There were a bunch of people in the shop at the time and I saw that the guys there would just take bikes coming back and quickly turn them around and give them to those just beginning their journey. This is NOT the proper way to run a bike rental business. You need to make sure the bikes coming back are in good riding condition before you just turn around and hand it to someone else.Obviously if someone breaks the chain on the bike, they arent going to say anything. They dont want to be charged for it. It is the responsibility of the bike rental place to make sure the bikes are still good to go before you hand it to someone and send them on their way. That is a terrible business practice. These people dont care about your safety. Check the condition of the bike before you leave. Dont make the same mistake I did. They also charge you an additional fee for bike insurance ($3 per bike) and they take your ID and hold onto it. And they dont lock up your ID either. Theyre just sitting there on shelves.
Do the Russians run all of the bike rentals in the area? Why is there a room full of them working on computers in the back? I was left with many unanswered questions after my cycling escapade in central park. Overall, however, they were excellent. They put my own pedals on the bike, gave me a nice road bike, helped me with everything, let me store my luggage in the shop while I rode. Girl at the counter was in her own world, but otherwise the staff went out of their way to ensure I was happy. I was.
Honestly best quote price I got from online and on-site. Most of the guys on central park with cardboard signs will quote a ridiculous cheap price and take you to this place which will honor whatever price you got quoted off the street. I got 2 bikes + 1 child tandem for ALL DAY for the price of what I would have spent for 2 bikes only 2 hours some where else. Therefore, their prices are a bargain. Helmets and locks were included in the price. I did pay 2 dollars for a basket which is dirt cheap, plus a good idea for our backs pack and water bottles. I would definitely use them again when I go to NY again!
We had the most unpleasant experience with Bike Rent NYC. The staff there were extremely rude, disrespectful, and the bikes were total garbage. They gave us bikes of the wrong sizes and even forgot to give us bike locks and helmets. The “new” bikes had seats that wouldn’t stay in place, gears that were a nightmare to shift, and brakes that made a terrible screeching noise. When we tried to return our bikes early, they would not give us a refund and didn’t seem to care about our complaints. Save your money and go somewhere else. I WOULD NOT recommend.
Nice staff and service. Reasonable price. But the bikes dont have any mudguard/fender - when cycling on a wet surface be prepared to go back to your hotel and change all your clothes afterwards.
This company is the worst! So many problems. First, we ordered the tour online to save a few bucks. They assured me that the tour could be started from any of there 3 locations...not true! Went to wrong one of course! OK, we then went to correct one, but waited 45 minutes for a guide to show up...none did. We were walking out when a wonderful guy named Michael just happened to show up and ask if anybody needs a tour. He wasn’t the guide on call that day but took us on a wonderful tour. He was a godsend. After the tour the cashier “lost” my ID they were holding. It took a phone call to find it and bring my BP below 200/100. Go elsewhere.
Please be careful with their bikes, read what theyre having you sign. It says they are not responsible for deaths or injuries. I just had a bike accident today and had a minor concussion due to one of the breaks failing while going down one of central parks hills. An elderly lady had a similar issue but thankfully she wasnt hurt.Ive had a great experience with them in the past. This is my first injury with their bikes.ANOTHER THING: be ALERT. They will rush and there will be a lot of customers so they wont always ask you if you need a helmet. Basically, you are fully responsible. Make sure your bike is in GREAT CONDITION before taking it to Central Park. Take a ride around the block and insist that your hour begins when you are given a bike with great condition if possible.Other than that, they have no problem giving discounts and up to now they havent been rude to me.
Got 2 hours for $15. Good bikes and close to the park. Good service and worth the experience and money.
I spoke on the phone twice to the woman who answered who was pleasant; upon arrival, the store was busy, but all flowed patiently and smoothly. We rented five bikes, all we in very decent shape, my 16 year old sons, though, had chain problems where it would fall off if he peddled too hard. All told, we had a wonderful 3 hours riding in Central Park on a beautiful day. Be aware that the store is just a (busy) block from the park, but you can walk your bike across the street into the park.
We booked with a NY pass which was not complicated. Handover was very quick too.The staff seemed bored though. When we started riding the bikes we actually recognized that they had not been checked a while. One of my brakes was making noises when being used which is a sign it is not well set up. The gears were not 100% set up either and the pressure on the wheels was not high enaugh. There was no light on the bikes either. All in all the bikes have done what they were supposed to but their equipment was rather very basic and not in good shape. It didnt make the ride super enjoyable unfortunately.
Great ride. Bikes were in good condition and the rates were good. The service was quick and professional.
My bike experience was amazing with bike rental Central Park. I loved my bike it rode so smoothly and I’ll definitely do it again !!! Thank you so much bike rental central park :-) 5 stars
Great experience. Easy rentals online and pick up. Quality bikes. Beautiful ride in Central Park. All good (more air con in store would help though!)
Checking out was pretty easy - book online to get a better rate - bikes were good. Problem when we stopped at the boathouse wanted to lock our bikes up but the lock was jammed so we could not. Then the basket we had broke. We reported it when we got back & she acted like we had done it. She offered us another day but that did not work for us - she should have credited us back some $ - not happy how she handled the return part.
Unorganized garbage palace of absurd unprofessional crooks WHO DO NOT GIVE RETURNS NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCE. The employees get in fights with other vendors and harass women.
Dont even think about it! They not only have the worst customer relationship management, they dont even have a customer relationship management! The staff is friendly and helpful, but unfortunately they dont have the power to make a sound a decision. Instead we had to talk to the manager who doesnt give a s*** about his customers since he knows that most of them wont come back anyways. We had a bike with a stuck chain and some other minor problems, which we realized when we were already in the park. So we only made it halfway through the park and when we were talking with the manager about it he didnt care at all, he didnt even wanted to understand the problem, was very very unfriendly and just kept saying: we dont do refunds, bye. 25 bux for a broken bike and the worst communication. Please, there are many other bike rentals-choose one of them, who most likely care a lot more about their customers.
We rented a tandem bike to ride around Central Park and had the best time! Its near the park so its a great location. Awesome service
Very rude and terrible customer service. The guy who brought me from the park entrance to the shop told me one hour is for 15 $ but they can give me 20 extra minutes. When I walked into the shop they gave me the mask face. The guy who brought me gave them his number to get his bonus and left right away which is fine but I had to remind them of my agreement with the guy (only 15 $ and 20 extra minutes), they disagreed then agreed when they felt I would leave. One lady there said we have to take your id to make sure that you will return the bike which is understandable but it could have been said in a better professional way. The fact that English is not her first language does not give her an excuse as well. The bike was OK and the guy who helped me take it and took from me after the hour finished was very helpful and friendly.
Terrible customer service. This place has agents that get you even before youve even entered Central Park. From there theyll take you to their store. Unfortunately for us we got a defective bike and didnt realize it until we were in the park. Since we rented four bikes we used 3 and obviously could not use the defective one. We got caught up in a downpour and were late returning the bikes. The owner is the most rudest, arrogant, and foul mouthed person that I have ever encountered. He demanded a late fee and would not return my drivers license. I explained that one of the bikes were defected and that we were slightly over our time because of the downpour...I mean it was obvious since we were all drenched!!! The man began using bad language in front of my kids and then threatened to call the police. Worst experience ever!!!! Dont rent from this place. They dont deserve your business...go elsewhere!!!
So terrible. They failed to mention a walk happening in the park and we had to walk our bikes the whole way and everything was blocked off. Didn’t get to see anything. And when we mentioned it they ignored us and said how were they supposed to know? You live here. And their shop is right next to the park. You should know. Bad customer service. Didn’t even get a refund. Beware.
Good and fast service! Cool and bright bikes! Take the basket for your belongings! The team is very good!
Really friendly staff. Well kept bikes. Would use them again.
Very nice bicycles with a variety of sizes.Swift service & youll find yourself cruising Central Park.thank you guys.Had a blast
Garbage. We purchased insurance so they would fix our flats for free and not be responsible for any costs incurred. We got a flat on the upper west side and were told it was too far and too dangerous for them to come help. They told us to go find a bike shop. Pretty amazing. Avoid these jokers at all costs. I have no experience with other rental companies in the area but I would suggest any would have to be better than these guys. There is a reason these clowns are cash up front only...
The only good part of this was the agent who got commission for taking us into the shop. The customer service was shocking. We took longer than we needed due to the time pressure. We had to demand the free helmet. The bikes are Giant but the gears are shockers. There was no effort to help us adjust the seat. On our return the lack of friendliness was still the same despite there being no customers. I would avoid this crowd, with service like they have they should not be in business.
Convenient location. Well stocked. Have bikes for kids and trailer bikes.
I did a last minute rental with my g/f.. We were approched by a street vender who walked us over to the shop. They were quick and friendly. The bike I had was a older model Giant hybrid bike. Besides looking a little older, this bike road very well, it had a comfortable seat and the gears shifted nicely. The basket and chain lock was a little extra. The price seemed fair given the location and last minute timing. I was told it would have been cheaper if I had reserved on line. The only con I have is the bike didnt come with a bell. We went riding in Central Park, and there are alot of people either waking, running or cycling. It would have been nice to have a bell to warm people we were coming. If I come back to NYC, I will rent from this place again!!
I used this service when friends visited and had great luck.
Good racing bike. Helmet. No shoes. Expensive. Management not that nice.
I dont recomand, unfriendly staff, the bikes are not ok, i have tickets pass, at the begining they said that i have to pay warranty and the end they dont return the money and they said that only 6$ was warranty the rest was the price but i have pass included bike for 2 hours. 👎👎👎
Bikes. Not much on customer service but functional bikes at reasonable price. 2hrs is a good duration for experiencing Central Park on wheels.
Always a pleasure with these folks, great way to chill and enjoy central;)
This place does not inform their customers of the bicycling rules in Central Park. My dog was nearly killed on two separate occasions within a half hour of each other on the pedestrian walkways (where bikes are prohibited). When I went in the store to inform them of this, they shrugged their shoulders and said it wasnt their problem.
Bikes in bad shape, we rented a tandem with gears not functioning (stayed on hardes gear, not easy goung uphill) and tires on the rope... when complaining, they simply barely listened and didnt even say sorry... there ate lots of bike rental places around them, just pick another one!
They’d try to bump up the price to 15 and when you said no, they’ll bring it down to 10. I don’t like businesses that take advantage of tourist!
Very comfortable bikes. Very cheap when booking online. The bike path in Central park is really good.
Super busy. Some staff were ridiculously strict and controlling, unreasonably so. But amongst them were a few rays of sunshine - people who are actually so sweet and help despite all the madness
My daughters bike handle became loose and one of the brakes didnt work after about an hour. So we walked her bike and two other bikes from the other side of the central park. When I took the bikes to the shop and told the shop person what happened, their first response was that I should have called them and let them know. They didnt say sorry for the poor maintenance. They kept blaming me for not calling before but walking the bikes. After 30 min of my complaining, they offer one bike rental credit for compensation. Who would come back to rent a bike with such poor maintenance? One of my afternoon in New York was ruined by the bike.
Terrible customer service!!!! My wife and I rented bikes for a ride in central park, I took about 20 minutes to get the bikes because there was only one staff that was actually working and 3-4 others apparently doing nothing. Maybe this should have been my first clue. Eventually we got our bikes and off we went. About halfway around the park the chain on my wives bike derailed and became stuck between the gears and the hub, It took 15 minutes to forcibly pull the chain back into position. Off we went again except now I had greasy hands. The same thing happened 2 additional times. We finally nursed the bike back to the store. When I spoke to the clerk at the counter she was less than sympathetic. She offered little in the way of an apology and said that we could have a credit for a free bike the following day. This did no good as we were leaving town. SHE OFFERED NO OTHER SOLUTION OR COMPENSATION!!What a lousy way to run a business. My advice, find another shop. there are many to chose from.
Really good service, clear map accompanied with our bike rental, bikes were in top condition and overal great experience
Rented a tandem bike for 2 hours.Bike worked fine and all of the gears shifted smoothly. The only bad thing is a tandem bike is 2X the price of a single bike.
Very good service, good quality bikes and the experience is worth it. Highly recommend it!
Being from New York you would think Ive done this a million times, but nope this was our first time and I must say I really enjoyed it!!!! People get your deal from Groupon or a similar site because if you book in store it can be $90 for two adults for as little as 2 hours!!!! I booked on Groupon and paid $44 total for two adults for the entire day. The bikes are in great condition and easy to ride you get a helmet and a bike chain with your rental. You can add a childs chair for a additional cost. For $1 more you can get a basket added to your bike and of course I added the insurance for both bike which was $2 each hey this is NYC anything can happen. This is great for families and children of all ages. We rode around Central Park the ride was about 7 miles long so dress comfortably, bring lots of water and take breaks it gets hot in the park!!!!
Pay attention the basket doesnt hurt the wheel, dont know why there no A/C inside, but you are getting out Already...Nice rental, price seems little high for me, on the website much cheaper
Central Park Bike Ride or Sayat Bicycle Rental was very helpful. My wife and I rented bikes for 2 hours and cruised Central Park. The bikes worked reasonably well though not all the gears worked on mine. Overall I would recommend them especially since they are located so close to Central Park.
DO NOT GO: RUDE STAFF/THEY DO NOT FIX THE BIKES ACCORDINGLY TO YOUR HEIGHT APPROPRIATELY: THE GUYS ADJUSTED THE SEAT AND LEFT THE SEAT CROOCKED.
The bikes are very rusty and creaky. The staff are not professional.I repair bikes, and these bikes are barely rideable.Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Rude staff who wont accept any coupons and try their best to take your money. No help or conversation regarding coupons and pressured into taking more time and not compensated if return super early. Bikes were rubbish and swayed when riding, me no like themmmmmm! Ruuuuddeness!
Without problems two bicycles on loan . For the two hours for 20 minutes was added thereto . Gladly again
I rented from here today. It was ok. next time I will rent from citibike which is right at the park entrance, has good bikes, good rates and a simple process. Citibike works like the rentals in philly, Denver, Atlanta and other cities where you put your credit card in the kiosk or you can use an app. The bikes are simple and well maintained. It is annoying that around the citibike kiosk, there are vendors from other bike companies that are harassing people to rent from them. They quote low prices and dont tell you that it requires that you purchase a visitor card to get those prices. The ride around Central Park is pleasant with moderate hills. You may want to take water, and a very small backpack for personal belongings. I could only switch to a few of the gears on the bike today; not all the gears were working.
Waste of time ! Scam alert - NO refunds and false advertising ! Possible FRAUD !
TOURISTS BEWARE - from a native New YorkerI bought a Groupon for here. After I bought it, it said I had to call and make reservations in advance. Fair enough. So I try calling and it goes straight to voicemail. No problem, theyre probably tied up with other customers, I thought to myself. So I called later, and the same thing. Well, after about 15 calls total, all straight to voicemail, I give up and just chance it and go without a reservation.I get there, and apparently their phone system is out and has been out for a while. You cant reserve a Groupon online, because they require you to pay for tickets if you want to reserve off their site. So, I told them that I couldnt reserve because their phones were out, and they say sorry, but I need a reservation. Then they try to charge me extra because I didnt have a reservation. Then they said that they would not charge me the fee if I wrote a good review for them on Yelp. I laughed. Me being from NYC, I can smell a scam from a mile away. These people are scam artists plain and simple, so I just left the store.I got a refund on my Groupon, and ended up buying another one for a cheaper price (Central Park Sightseeing if anyone is curious) and was more than happy with them. Never give this place business. Extremely shady and extremely rude.
Bikes not well maintained, staff was rude, and they dont clean their helmets! We booked online ahead of time, but still had to wait in the shop which was crazy busy at 10am on a Tuesday. We were mostly ignored until the woman at the counter pointed us out to the guys who were retrieving bikes. Had to ask for helmets (bin only had xs). I forgot to ask for bike locks and no one offered, so we didnt get any.We got 1 adult bike and 2 kids bikes. The chain slipped off one of the kids bikes and we had to walk the bikes for a bit before we finally managed to fix it ourselves. I was pissed. When I told the staff at drop off (so maybe they could actually do maintenance on their bikes) the manager questioned me in a very accusatory maner. Customer experience does not matter here.We rented for 2 hours and barely made it back in time because of the bike breaking and the difficulty getting our bikes at the beginning. Also, THEY DONT CLEAN THE HELMETS! I was disgusted to find that after we had worn them on a hot day I was told to just put them back in the bin. Gross.
The bike was very comfortable and I really enjoy my time at Central Park.
Fast and easy to get a bike from here. You have to leave your ID in exchange for the bikes
Real nice service, rented for 1 hour, but didnt have to be back before 1 h 20 min.
Got a rental and a really great price. The tandem was great
They have discount prices but with discount prices they give you broken bikes! very dissatisfied! Not reated fairly. I would not recommend this bike rental.
Very bad customer service:1. We had to go to all their locations because our online reservation receipt does not show the address to pick up.2. No use of online booking as you have to stand in line at the store again just like offline.
Bikes were absolutely new, and staff served me in a very polite way
Bikes are good enough, didnt wait much for my bike and its was a nice day riding around Central Park.
I went there to rent a bike on 5-27-2017. the lady on counter is rude, impatient. we asked question she doesnt wanna say a word. not recommend it. the guys outside r ok.
The Staff is rude to customers. My partner and her family went in to redeem a groupon and because we didnt made a reservation before coming in, the staff member ask that we write a good review on tripadvisor and then hell rent us the bike. When my partner said she will think about it if the service and bikes are ok. He responded that hell think about renting the bikes. YOU CANT FORCE PEOPLE TO WRITE A GOOD REVIEW!!!!
Cheap bike rentals and good bikes, but quite rushed and abrupt service.
Convenient bike rental. Open from 8am to 8pm
They charged me for something I didnt take and they were very rude and scammers.
Great customer service, Mark the manager is very helpful!
Sneaky bike rental, deceiving with adventising. Be sure to read the other reviews first
Nice customer service and really good bikes for rent
They give discounts on loyalty so I got 50% discount when I went there again.
Its realy good i like your bicycles
Intense the bike was very comfortable and i enjoy my at Central Park
Slightly expensive. But good bikes
Rude service, lied about pricing. I think this place is mostly here to scam tourists
Nice place and cheap price for rent a bike
Actual bikes good, but the service really let this place down for us as member of staff was very rude/abrupt, as if they didnt care once we had paid.
Will never use again. They charge your credit card with a very high deposit and they dont even mention it.
Bicycles okay. Service at store extremely unfriendly. Not recommendable.
Friendly and was easy to find.
