Great breakfast and bagel options! They have so many different flavors of cream cheese spread to choose from. The New Yorker breakfast is enough to share between two people. The lox and bagels is also enough to eat out of twice. This place is very popular and tends to grow a line out of the door so get there before 9. There is also assorted fruits, hot/cold tea and coffee.
Arrived at this bagel shop based on my misses suggestion. As a English man coming into New York this may have been the most hectic ordering system i have had to deal with. In a blind panic I ordered a poppy seed bagel with spring onion cream cheese. I have no idea what led me to make this random decision but it in fact was a lovely bagel. I’m still not sure what is so great about New York water but I can promise this. If you come to this bagel shop not only will you get a full New York experience but you will also get a quite delicious bagel too 👍🏼
At first glance the place seems nice and cozy. Unfortunately when you look around you realize how dirty the place actually is. Tables are never cleaned, walls are stained with crease, and the cream cheese is not fresh at all. There are about eleven employees and half of them try to clean the place with rags theyve used numerous times. Overall I dont recommend this place at all because towards the end my appetite was cut off after realizing how truly dirty this place is.
Pick A Bagel was FANTASTIC. They had had a very cute aesthetic and the bagels were to die for. Each bagel was different with a bunch of different smears to choose from. I had the Blueberry Bagel with a Strawberry Cream Cheese smear an I loved it. They also had a small variety of drinks as well. I definitely recommend you make it a point to stop at this bagel shop.
Had to try a NY bagel at least once during our trip so chose to hit this spot near Times Square. Very busy but the staff stayed on top of the crowd and moved the in-store and online ordered folks through smoothly. Numerous different flavors of bagels available, along with salads, breakfast, and smoked fish. All their baked goods are done right in the shop and looked great. My wife chose her usual-sesame with light cream cheese and I went for the an everything bagel with lox spread. The amount of cream cheese, even after asking for just a schmeer, was a bit ridiculous. You could cover a second bagel with what they give you on one. The bagels were fresh and made perfectly. Slight crisp to the outer edge and light and fluffy inside. Were loved our food and felt lucky that we had chosen a place of such good quality for our NY bagel experience.
The bagels are amazing! I had a sesame seed bagel with sausage, egg and scallion cream cheese and it was delicious! The thing is, their ordering system is super confusing and inefficient: you tell them your order so they can start making it, then you go down and tell someone else your order (as in, you repeat the whole order for them), so they can ring it up and take payment, and then when you are waiting to pick it up, the employee who passes them out will ask you a third time what you ordered so they know what to give you. The result is a lot of people shouting over the ruckus all at once, customers who are confused about what is expected of them, and overall a very not streamlined experience. The food is worth the chaos but man, there has to be an easier way!
Great bagels. Bagels are cheap. Everything is fresh, made to order. They get expensive when you order anything between the bagel though. I had a bagel with egg, cheese, and bacon. It was definitely worth the price of around $8. I also bought a spare bagel in case I got hungry walking around NY. Theres usually a line in the morning but it goes quick. I would definitely eat there again when I stop by.
Line was long but the food/service were good. Just wish they did not make the customers repeat the order when ordering then also when paying.
Nothing to brag about. The bagels themselves are good, but the whitefish salad & tomato barely had any flavor. Plus they don’t offer any fish, just fish salads. While overall it’s not bad, NYC has much better options.
Good value but a disappointment in terms of trying to get a taste of truly famous new York bagel . They had a long queue but it moved pretty quickly. Got a garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese, a plain croissant, an orange juice. The bagel was ok, not bad but I have had better. They give you a ton of cream cheese which could have been good even for another two bagels. Again it was not bad but it didnt live up to the expectations. Croissant was just bad, so I wouldnt recommend it at all. It is mostly a touristy place and thats the quality you will get in a tourist spot. The orange juice was not freshly squeezed but straight from the bottle and into the cups. So be aware of that too. I wouldnt get out of my way to get bagels here.
The last stop before a sunny Central Park picnic where you can pick up sesame bagel with olive cream cheese! You wont regret this!
Wow, always fresh and tasty! Thanks for politely serving me in early morning, with no hustle and rudeness.
Got my pick-up order right, even though they were super busy. Tasty and huge menu. Would definitely visit again!
Incredible place for breakfast. Great freshly baked bagel with lots of flavours and types. The open from 6am when is quieter and great for a take away breakfast. After that it gets pretty busy and for a reason. Reasonable prices for the complete huge breakfast the offer. And the staff overall are very friendly.
Delicious classic flavors. Every bagel fills you up. Try the fruity blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. Also try the savory everything bagel with chive cream cheese. Whatever youre craving, this is a good place to get some breakfast.
Great selection of freshly baked bagels and plenty of other pastries!!! They definitely dont skimp on the cream cheese filling! The staff is not very helpful or friendly, unfortunately, but the food quality makes up for that...
One of the very delicious bagels I ever ate! Get the garlic bagel with cream cheese. Definitely recommended! The coffee isnt bad either.
Quick easy ordering process, great selection of bagels and menu options. Def satisfied my bagel craving.
A block from our hotel so gave it a try. Came back the next morning too. Decent selection of bagels and cream cheese, generously provided. Fast service, indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended.
Such friendly staff 💙 and the bagels here are delicious. They were extremely busy but each employee was so kind. Also their muffins are to die for, it’s basically a mini cake. Still dreaming of going back
Very long lines but they move super quick. Online orders are picked up though different door. You dont have to get in line, just ring the doorbell thats inside by the sign. Food was delicious and sandwiches are very big. We could only eat half and saved the other half for later.
The worst service by far. Went in to pick up a pre ordered online bagel order. Picked up at 730am. The witch of a lady was at the pick up counter. Told me no egg bagels today. So I asked for substitute. She said only 1 egg bagel was missing. Luckily I had my itemized receipt which showed 2. She sneered back and said “want to count it?” In which I replied “can you read because the itemized showed two”. What an absurd and idiotic person to be hired at this place. I buy from here all the time and never received this type of heinous behavior. Coach your people… store manager absent too.
I went to pick a bagel the other day and honestly it was life changing. I hate going to most bagel places cause you never know what they’re gonna give you. But at Pick a bagel, being able to pick my own type, made the whole experience so much better. I don’t know if I can go back to a normal bagel place where they choose for you anymore
Came for a quick breakfast with my husband and we fell in love with the pancakes from here! We had to come back the next day! Our last day in NY I got a bagel with strawberry cream cheese and it was delicious! The service here was great and so was the food!
The Bagel it,s goodBut be careful whit the cashier man in the moment to pay special in long line ...check you account ..you pay more money ..
Love the bacon and cheese bagel. Staff are nice. Can use the restroom.
Toasted plain pagel with salmon and plain cream cheese was delicious. No decaf coffee or espresso though (hence removed one star). Highly recommend for fresh bagel with good quality salmon though
Their smoked salmon sandwich is right to my expectation but is a little bit pricey than other places I know and they will charge for the tomato if you want it with your bagel be aware of that. I also tried their tofu scallion cream cheese, which is tasty as well but still pricey though.
Long queue to order. Delicious food served by a very rude woman who must of woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Everyone else was just as busy but nice and pleasant to deal with. Other customers around me were just as shocked as I was at her responses, comments, and accusing me of not paying.
Delicious bagels and breakfast specials, but be prepared for a wait and not much room to maneuver. Also be aware that they sell out of more popular items and when theyre gone, theyre gone. So get there early or be prepared to change up your order on the fly.My wife and daughters chose this place for breakfast in December 2019 at the recommendation of a friend. They warned us it would be crowded but would be worth it. The food was definitely good and the staff took time to correct an error without an issue. But it is definitely, definitely a crowded place and not the best option if youre like us, a party of 4. If dining on your own or maybe with one friend and plan to eat there, you will have a much better chance of finding a spot to sit or stand. Either way, be prepared to wait a little while and be in very tight quarters with other customers.
A little greasy but good
The bagels were not good, hard & over toastet. The cream cheese selection was great and abundant. I would not go back for bagels.
One of the Best bagels in NYC ! During the launch time you will definitely see big line out the door. I order everything Bagel with toasted with veg tuna, its take arrive 10 minutes. Staff are so fast & friendly. Here you found a big salad bar with salad with packet. The bagels itself are massive, but very soft and chewy, with the perfect crunchy glassy exterior looking. The fillings are very delicious & generous. Pick a Bagel shop one of the most expensive Bagel store in Town. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone wanting a satisfying bagel if you consider the price. Although seating is hard to come by, it is worth it and the shop itself is very crowded most of the time.
Brought home two dozen bagels. Took away a star because I was approached by a man asking for a warm bagel while eating bfast w my family in the outer dining area. I just so happened to have a bunch of warm bagels and offered one to him. The man grew angry and said something gross in front of my family. I had to literally throw him out as he became angry that i didnt give him $$$. The bagels are very good though!
Beyond disgusted with this place. Found a piece of thin aluminum metal inside my bagel. Hope I did not swallow any others I was unaware of. First and last time coming here.
This was our morning breakfast place 3 days in a row. Excellent bagels, decent muffins.
Best bagels in NYC! Friendly staff. Love this place!
Great little bagel shop in New York!!! It was quite crowded around noon but the staffs were still really nice even though they are really busy. The “Evening bagel” is highly recommend!!Different flavor and spice are all combined in one bagel!!🥯 The food was great and the environment is nice and clean too!!! Really enjoyed our time here!!
Terrible experience. They messed up my order of 2 chocolate muffins and were extremely rude when I asked for the correct muffin. It took them 3 tries to get it right, during which the staff rolled their eyes at me and made snarky comments while I waited. The muffins were nothing to rave about. Not worth your time or money.
One of the best bagel shop in the area... everything they have here is fresh and delicious... service is fast and kind... huge variety of toppings for your bagel and different kind of snacks as well... you can choose from fresh juices, coffees and hot drinks as well... I had a Santa Fe salad and a plain bagel with butter and cream cheese... also I ordered a salmon and cream cheese bagel and a supreme Reuben with rye bread sandwich... it was amazing and very very tasty... cosy and clean little place... service was fast and kind also...
Something that you have to get when in New York are the bagels. Pick A Bagel has one of the most comprehensive selection of bagels from plain, blueberry, onion and more. The chewiness of the bagels combined with cream cheese or other fillings such as salmon or bacon and eggs, makes for a very delicious and hearty breakfast or snack. Eat in or to go perfect to start the day with.
Fresh bagel with a smear of scallion cream cheese, and a fresh squeezed orange juice. Got 6 more bagels to take home. Great idea for breakfast!!
These bagels are so good! And the staff is very kind. 😊 Definitely coming back for more!
Service was terrible. Didnt feel welcomed. Didnt get a polite answer back for my menu inquiry. Food was average. Wont go back.
You really cant do much better than here and so consistent!
Good Bagels but be ready to pay what Tourist pay. Extremely over priced. $$$ Tourist trap. Go to Liberty Bagel on 9th ave. Save some money and just as good.
Got a poppy seed bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. Total came to $4.50 or so. I’m giving them one star because the cashier was so incredibly rude. Gave me attitude when I was giving her money, and also when I politely asked her a question. She asked me something but was mumbling it the whole time. I asked her to repeat what she was saying THREE times because I seriously could not hear her. However, she did not change the volume of her voice one bit while still giving attitude. Worst customer service. I’m from out of the country and I don’t think I would recommend this place to someone out of the country or even a local. The only good thing about this place was the bagel. It was huge and was abundant in whipped cream cheese. Wouldn’t say it was worth $4 though.
This place is so yummy. Bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with your pick of cream cheese, TO DIE FOR! Vegan cream cheese, avocado and yummy warm bagel. Yes please!!
The best bagel Ive had in a really long time
I generally look for 3 things in the places I frequent:Service - the service here is quick. In fact, you had best have an idea of what you want before you enter the store, or get an idea rather quickly while you wait in the line. I know I said “line” but don’t worry - this line moves FAST. There are some very talented and serious people working here and they will make sure you are moved along quickly.Offering - Any breakfast bagel item you want - cream cheese? No problem. Eggs? No problem. Is it sausage or bacon you fancy? Again. No problem. This place has it all.Atmosphere - The atmosphere is a bit rushed. It’s loud and it’s rushed. So if you’re looking for a place to sit down and have a nice relaxed breakfast, go elsewhere. If you are looking for a genuine New York bagel at genuine New York speeds - then you should definitely stop in and experience this gem. Please dont forget to click helpful if you found this review helpful, or interesting, or funny, or just want to be nice and make me feel good about putting up this review. ;)
I love this place. Its a bit hectic ordering so I recommend knowing what you want well ahead of getting to the counter. Dont eat the salt bagel.
First let me say absolutely nothing against the place. Clean spot, well run, great nyc energy, muffins look amazing. I had a plain bagel and, to be honest, their bagel just isn’t my favorite. It’s more or less a classic nyc style bagel - harder outside with soft inside. I personally like a softer more fluffy bagel (like TSB) but that’s my personal preference. If you’ve never had an nyc bagel before go here though as it’s as standard as you’ll find in the city.
This was the one and only bagel shop that we got a chance to try whilst on a trip from the UK and Im so glad we did. I chose the pastrami and ordered the cream cheese, bacon and scallions, both on everything bagels. Both were stuffed full of fillings and tasted delicious, the pastrami was still warm and melted the cheese beautifully. Would highly recommend this place.
Pretty great bagels; the size of the bagels are well worth their price, and we definitely recommend getting either the onion or the garlic bagel with the jalapeño cream cheese (it’s not spicy but it adds a nice flavor to the bagel!). Note that the veggie cream cheese is alright, but the jalapeño is much better!
The bagels were quite delicious. The inside is a mad house packed to no end in the mornings. You usually need to make a mad dash for a table as soon as someone gets up. I ended up sharing a table with two other people as we all made a move for one table at the same time. Quality wise the food was great. Service is pretty quick as well which helps alleviate some of the cramped waiting issues.
Bagels are delicious and they have tofu cream cheese for vegans!
Fast, tons of choice, and great price for thick chewy bagels.
Perfect NY bagel, taste great, need more organization with orders .
The food is really good. The service is terrible.
Great service and speak spanish. I love it.
Great authentic New York bagels with a ton of choices to add on.The cream cheese and lox are the best!
Great quick stop for a good bagel sandwich. I got cream cheese and lox. The lox was nice, thin and briny, real lox as youd expect to find in Manhattan. I moved up to Boston and have been missing real NYC bagels. Wait time was non-existent at 3 PM on a Saturday - I suspect it would be worse during breakfast or lunch hours. Overall worth stopping in if you are nearby. Come in after lunch if you dont want to wait on line.
I love this place, every time I visit I stop by. The bagels are fresh in the staff is super friendly. They are really good New York Bagels. The nice part is theres plenty of seating which is lacking when you go to a New York City. I had the Nova and cream cheese on a sesame bagel untoasted and it was incredible. It was 16 box but well worth it. If you order it make sure you hold the capers because they were slopped on an extremely salty
The bagels here are pretty tasty and the service is always fast. They have a great selection going on and the prices are very reasonable.
Nothing about a new york bagel like this is unique to one purchased from a market and heated in your toaster. the staff had trouble hearing our order, especially those of us wearing masks. rushed service and okay selection of cream cheeses. prices on the bagels themselves arent bad. croissants are tiny.
Prices inconsistent (2 bagels and an iced coffee is 16 dollars), employees get orders wrong. only recommend for ordering online because in person is a disaster.
Quite crowded, but clean, tasty and fresh
