Worst bagel I’ve ever been served from a bagel shop, would have asked for a replacement if I hadn’t taken it over to the park to eat. I get the sense my everything bagel had been sitting out all day at the bottom of the pile — very little seasoning on it, chewy in a tough, stale kind of way + imperceptible toasting. I get that not every bagel is going to be wildly fresh but wow, if this is what you have to offer in the everything bin, let me know and I’ll order something different instead of wasting $4.
Great bagels. This place tends to be crazy inside, especially on weekend mornings. They are wildly disorganized (shouting orders / inconsistent lines / et). That being said, it doesn’t matter. They never mess up orders and it just works. The bagels and sandwiches are great. Coffee is serviceable. 5*
Not my go to bagel place on the upper east side but I have come here many times with friends and family for bagels if we are on second avenue. Weekend mornings the line is out the door, but it honestly all runs pretty smoothly. For the many years that I have been living on the Upper East Side and have passed by H&H bagels in the morning, the line has continuously been out the door, and that right there in my opinion is a sure fire sign that business has always been booming. I have always enjoyed the bagels from there and if I lived closed then I definitely would go there more. Along with that the coffee there is pretty good as well. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a classic NY bagel.
This place was a big part of my New York weekend. We wanted to find a New York bagel spot to start the day and this place did not disappoint. We got lucky and grabbed a table to sit for a bit too. They are super efficient so don’t worry about any lines. They will get you fed in no time.
Great bagels. Large and hearty. They dont skimp on toppings like sesame seeds. The egg and cheese on a bagel was super filling. Highly recommend the scallion cream cheese. They are well staffed so we were in and out quickly.
It used to be one of my favorite bagel places in the city, but when charging $1.70 for smaller bagels and having to wait 45 minutes in line with tons of other people breathing down your neck at 11am during Covid, doesnt make it worth it one tiny bit.Sorry H&H, you sadly lost my business.
Slow and rude staff. Was waiting on line for over 20 mins while I watched them making Uber orders with not even a confirmation that I have been seen and will be taken care of soon. I time and time again I’ve had the wrong order and I think it’s time I stop giving them second changes. I’m done with this business
Well I’ve tried quite a few bagel places in the area. This one has been my least pleasing experience. Ordered a bagel with 5 Ingredients.. got only 1 ingredient even tho I paid for all 5 🙂, i get if it was a busy morning but getting the entire order wrong? Quality of the salmon I got was just not it. Disappointed to say the least especially because I had it delivered and couldn’t go back there.. wouldn’t even bother to try it again.
Service was fine. I just got myself a everything bagel untested nothing on it thinking it would be fresh and ti east like ti is a day old. Maybe even two days.
If I can give zero stars.Terrible place. Outdated look, fridges looks like they been evacuated from war zones, floors falling apart… somehow that doesn’t stop them to charge me 9$ for a bacon, egg and cheese bagel and make me wait 25 minutes bc their 7 workers are so well organized.
Moved from NY I miss bagels so much, was so happy to see this place on door dash, $69 later for only two dozen bagels, what a rip off in itself, then we open the bagels end EVERYONE IS MOLDY. It makes me wanna vomit just thinking about it especially because we didn’t realize until we each ate one
I was excited to try these bagels seeing them on door dash shipping nationwide and having heard of them before. Unfortunately there were delays with my order and the bagels arrived 4 days late covered in mold, and the cream cheese was hard as all the cooling from the ice pack was gone. Its hard to fault anyone, I know there had been flooding Im NY and general shipping problems everywhere. Wish I could have tried the bagels but had to throw them all out.
Dear god never go to this place in leguardia cheap frozen pre prepared egg with a slice of american cheese. I feel insulted. This is an affront to food
I had a business in meridian Mississippi. Bought h & h bagels by the pallets. First time the community had been introduced to bagels. Made pizza bagels, chicken salad bagels...h&h are the best ever. I have been trying to find one that compares now that Im in Texas....no luck.
I love this place its on my top list of places to eat at in NYCThe staff is so nice even when extremely busy and they allow me to bring in my 70lb Irish setter10/10
H&H was extremely busy when I went during the morning of a weekday. Even though they were busy, I was able to order and receive my food very quickly. I ordered the bagel with salmon, and it was really good. The salmon tasted great, and it was the perfect temperature.I would definitely recommend and go again.
Good service however be prepared to wait in line
It was delicous! Took 4 buisness days to ship with doordash. Wish it would’ve been quicker, but the mold was slightly delicious. Would definitely recommend to anybody on the west coast.
Bagel place that is very popular and tasty. Line actually goes by very quick so no need to worry about waiting! Loved Avocado Egg Pepperjack bagel.
8 minutes till they closed and all we wanted was a ready made bagel, not even anything they had to prepare, but they said they were closed and wouldn’t serve us. So that’s a thumbs down from me
The line was out the door when I arrived and I waited maybe 15-20 minutes until my order was taken. H&H has a larger assortment of bagels, cream cheeses, and drinks. I tried both a bagel with eggs and a bagel with veggie cream cheese. These bagels were both fairly tasty. One area of improvement could be their method of taking orders. Perhaps they should have an employee walk down the line and take orders so that way they could have them ready when the customer arrives at the counter. I have seen this done before and it does work very well. Hope these comments and suggestions help!
Delicious bacon egg cheese bagel, but I actually found the bagels to be softer and fresher at pick-a-bagel
Ordered through goldbelly. These didnt have the chew I was looking for, but I will say the flavor was delish. I wanted to love them more, but I need that chew! 5 stars for flavor and they have amazing scallion cream cheese, so thats worth a try too.
I’m a bigger fan of pick a bagel but this is a great alternative. They have a wide selection of cream cheese is maybe even more than pick a bagel it’s just a pick a bagel I’ve been going to forever would suggest making this your spot if you’re new to the area.
Best bagels! Fast service.
Their bagels are my favorite, constantly fresh in the mornings
Ordered a butter and jelly bagel. Found a cream cheese bagel instead. Good try
They’re always soooo nice and SO FAST. bagels are delicious, good selection of spreads, my go-to!!!
JFK location. I was excited to see the place as i am a seinfeld fan and love bagels.i was at JFK waiting for a planeThe day old bagel i bought was in-edible and a huge disappointment. I threw it away after 1st bite
Fav bagel shop in the UES, cant go wrong with the lox belly combo or the standard eggs and cheese on an everything bagel. To avoid long weekend morning lines, you can order online for in person pickup.
This place is featured in the movie Night Shift from 1982! How crazy is that!! When you have a niche and it is supported by one community in NY as long as you take care of that customer, this is how it works.Seems easy enough huh? Great Job H&H!
Mediocre bagels and terrible service. I arrived there and there was only one other customer in the store. Staff was talking and chilling for a couple minutes and then decided to take my order. After I placed my order I waited almost 30 mins for them to prepare a bagel with eggs and butter. They were extremely slow which was odd because there were only two customers. The bagel itself was mediocre too. Would not recommend. Employees aren’t attentive.
Classic bagel shop which also makes great breakfast sandwiches. Prices are fair, the place is busy but the employees are quick, attentive, and helpful. There are a good amount of spreads to choose from. Personally, I like a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with walnut raisin cream cheese.. I might go get one tomorrow actually..
This is my first time in New York and Im asking myself why I waited so long to visit this city. So my first NYC bagel had to be from here. Everything bagel with lox, mmmmm! I only had three days to explore not near enough time. This was definitely worth the cab fare!!! (New York cabbies are a kick!)
Lived in NYC in the 702 through 90s and this place was IT. But then, one could live in the city then. With sixty billion people now in the UES, a bit tougher. Yeah, I get it. Old guy saying ...NYC has changed... but this space is filled with 20 somethings all kvetching about H&H becoming a place and I totally get it. Its not just relativity anymore. Its reality.
Sometimes the delivery takes forever. Otherwise they are doing a great job.
Having been a loyal Upper Eastside customer for the last 30 years, I find it sad, these guys just dropped the ball here after they opened the Westside store. The prices of course have been going up like they have a first rate product, and not reputation.Resting on laurels is never the way to survive in any business.I think I’m done with these guys... I was hoping it was just a bad day, but it really tasted like a New York style bagel joint in Texas. Sorry to say... I’m taking away your New York affiliations.Good luck on the Westside.Your ex-loyal customer.
Horrible way to start the morning. Wait 30 minutes in an unorganized shop for them to get together a bacon egg and cheese. Wouldn’t recommend.
Ordered baker’s dozen bagel today and was told it is 12 bagels instead of 13. If that’s the case H&H shouldn’t name a dozen bagels to baker’s dozen. It is misleading.
They got the best bagels with the most variety than any other bagel shop in all of NYC. This place is a must if you want a delicious tasting bagels.
Nice to see that old traditions dont die. I actually worked here in the early 80s. Still the same fresh bagels today as back then.
I will never come to you again. I dont care that you have a lot of people, BUT I ASKED TOSTYET BEIGL
$8.55 for a BEC that was average at best.
Aside from the manager Norman, this has been the worst service I’ve experienced. I spent $18 dollars on a delivery, only to have received an incorrect order of a bagel with cream cheese. It was extremely difficult for them to simply refund my order or deliver me the correct item. Instead, after being placed on hold and being confronted with an argumentative tone, they agreed to send me what I paid for and had the delivery guy check to see what was previously delivered. Will never order from here again.
JFK location is horrendous. 30 minutes for a buttered bagel that was sitting a pool of oil. Worst bagel I’ve ever had. Avoid.
I get that alot of people are ordering food online now and that everyone has become lazy but can the owner assign specific guys to help the customers in line? I must have waited 10 mins at the front just to get attention from one of the workers.Literally every worker was busy taking care of online orders ONLY.Now the food. I suppose it tastes ok but bagel was not toasted at all even though I saw my food go through their heater and coffee tasted burnt.Ive been to this shop many times before and this was the worst visit so far. I hope it was just a fluke.
Great 👍👍😊
Woman taking my order was not understanding me and I tried to move rooms so the phone service would work and she said something to her coworker about me in a different language and I could tell it was negative because I slightly understood what was happening! You NEVER treat a customer like this! Decided to order from bagel bobs ... they’re nice
I love coming here! At least once a month I used to buy my students bagels from here and they would go crazy for it
Yeah its good and all but they dont have a great system in place for customers. They got the orders wrong for both my friend and I.Black coffee? How about a ny standard.Everything bage?l Eh, youll have sesame. You wanted two mini croissant things? Once you notice theyre not there you can easily come back. 😂
Significant drop off in quality of bagels.
Fast, delicious coffee and bagels
I ordered 2 doz thru Goldbelly and paid $69. Never again! H&Hs bagel at 80 cents each cost almost $3 each with shipping. What once was the most delicious bagel on earth, is no more. My husband & I ate 3 each. With each bite, we hoped the next would taste better. It did not! Im tempted to throw away the remaining 18 that I froze. Dont waste your money! Grocery stores, Panera & local bagel shops sell tastier bagels.
All three workers were not wearing their masks as the were cooking our food. I asked for a refund. This is not the first time I have gone and workers weren’t wearing their masks appropriately.
Ordered through Goldbelly to de delivered to Texas. They were delivered in a timely manner and were cold when they got here. That’s the one star. Picked this bagel shop based on all the great reviews. These taste like the dense, doughy tasteless bagels you can get at the grocery store shelf full of preservatives. I was expecting something glossy and crunchy on the outside chewy and delicious on the inside. Not at all what I got. I ordered two dozen and over the course of about a month, ate of about three of them hoping the next one would be better than the first, but they all taste the same. Finally ended up throwing them all out as they were just taking up room in my freezer. What a waste of money, never again.
This is by far the best bagel place in the whole UES, the service is fast and the food is always fresh.
Got major attitude from manager/employee a year ago. Was getting large box of coffee and was told to come back in 20 min, I was in a rush, got back 20 min later and when asked if my coffee was ready the answer was relax lady. To what I said that he was being rude and thats not the polite way to talk to clients. His answer was no, you are being rude. He didnt even blink an eye to give me the attitude in front of 20 other people in line. We were regulars here but are not coming back.
Best bagels in the city
I saw a staff member take off his mask behind the counter and tell us since he is going home he doesnt need to wear it anymore. Your were still inside... Today at 12:30 ish pm.
Line is typically to the door on the weekends, but worth the wait. Big selection of drinks and juices, as well as fresh coffee. Bagels are baked fresh daily in store.
Everything about this place is top notch if youre looking for quality food and a solid customer service experience. No frills meaning dont expect sleek modern design or new counters - this is a classic new york bagel shop.
Best Bagel in Manhattan no question
Ordered two bagel sandwiches and it took about 30 minutes for them to come. Pretty sure they lost the order somehow, even though they claimed they did not when we checked back in with someone after 15 minutes. Plenty of people ordered and got their bagels in the meantime. When they did finally come out they forgot the bacon and put avocado on the wrong bagel. By that point I was over it. Bagels were not cheap either. The place could be much better organized, its a little chaotic inside when busy
Never been here but Mariah Carey put this place in her book that she loved this place so I will definitely visit it .
As a bagel-focused establishment, this was perhaps my favorite of the NYC bagel tour. Grab bagel and go kinda place with great coffee. There was a line but it moved quickly. Could go a little lighter in the amount of lox and cheese on the bagel, so you can get your mouth around it all and get the taste of the bagel, that would be my only critique. Otherwise ingredients were great and overall well done!
Ordered bagels from H&H through Goldbelly. Was very disappointed with the bagels. Expected nice, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside bagels, as this is how they sell themselves. Instead, I received bagels that were no better than the frozen bagels I can buy in the grocery store. Very expensive...perhaps when they are purchased in person in NYC they are better. Or maybe not.
Best bagels in the city. If you disagree you’re wrong. I’ve tried over 30 different bagels in this city and this is probably the best, at least top 3. Yes, they are busy sometimes and you have to wait a while — that’s reasonable given how good the bagels are in one of the busiest cities in the world.
Simply the best bagels in north america.
You can never go wrong with a salmon bagel and a sprinkle of black pepper together with cream cheese. Consistent, always good. A bit pricey, and I miss being able to order late at night.
Best upper east bagel, by far. Service can definitely be a little all over the place at times but overall this place #1 in the area
This was our first ever bagel on our first trip to New York from India and we fell in love with it. They have a variety of options and we loved the olive cream cheese with their everyday bagel. So loaded and delicious. Definitely recommend.
Now this is what a Real Bagel tastes Like!!WoW!! Had them shipped to Us in Arizona,Overnight Delivery, wasn’t expecting themTo be this Delicious!!! Outstanding!! Need ISay more?? YUMMY!!!
A nice neighborhood bagel place, with a good selection of bagels and different options. Service was fine, you get a large amount of cream cheese should you order a bagel with cream cheese. The bagels here are on the dense side, but still fresh and chewy.
