This is actually the worst bagel in NYC. Literally the delis around every corner had better bagels. If you’re a tourist go to Essa Bagel or Russ & Daughters for something iconic! If you’re local literally go anywhere else.To be specific, super dense and flat bagels, everything seasoning has no flavor, barely any cream cheese, lox is stringy
Overall we had better bagels. This was our 3rd bagel experience on our NYC trip. In ranking this would be the lowest one.I got the Onion with Bacon, egg, cheese. This was nothing fancy or exciting about it.We also got a plain everything bagel, that was much denser than the other places we visited. Wife wasnt too impressed by it and felt it helped highlight how the other 2 places we visited were much better.
I ordered the lox sandwich and I’ve never seen something so inedible come out. My bagel was wet and soggy and sloppily thrown together. I always had a good experience at the down town black seed but this location is horrific.
It was ok at best. The service was great but when your in NY the expectations for bagels are pretty high considering there are so many amazing bakeries with them. I found the ones at black seed to be very small in comparison and incredibly doughy/ dense. I got lox and dill cream cheese with mine which sounded amazing but again fell short on overall flavor. Seems when cutting all of the cream cheese fell out into the wrapping as well so really gave a lack luster taste on my first bite. Really too bad I heard such great things!
Great bagel shop with a lot of options! Quick and friendly service. A bit pricey but that’s due to the location. I had an egg, cheese, tomato, and avocado bagel, along with an iced coffee. Both were great. A friend had a salad. You order inside and then wait by a window right next door. They accept phone orders if you want to save some time.
Delicious bagel sandwich. Had a hard time finding it, but glad we did. The staff were so nice. We enjoyed the banter.
I was the only customer and it took over 5 minutes for a bagel that they didn’t even toastThe sunflower herb spread made it taste okay but overall terrible bagel. We saw some bagels being handled in a bag so this could have just been some stale bagel they bagged a week ago.
The bagel is delicious and the service and wait are reasonable
These bagels are huge! I got the smoked salmon and I really enjoyed it
Bagels were so good and!! Tofu spread was amazing as well.
Great people, great food and coffee. Pricey, but thats NYC. Bagels didnt seem particularly special (as tourists, we HAD to get NYC bagels), but there wasnt anything wrong with them.
Great people work at this shop and love the food.
Decent bagel however errors in my online order
Terrible service and messed up my order. Never again
$4 for a tiny bagel with butter. You get better tasting bagels from the coffee carts on the street. Don’t understand the hype, will not be returning.
I have no idea why this place has anything less than 5 stars. This is a hidden gem for a tourist, but not so much for New Yorkers. They know its worth. I had an everything bagel with bacon jalapeno cream cheese. Need I say more? The bagel was PERFECTLY balanced. That might sound like a strange descriptor for a Bagel, but I literally tasted EVERYTHING with the same intensity. No one flavor stood out. The cream cheese wasnt overtly bacon, which is difficult to do considering Bacon has a tendency to take over any dish. Not this bacon. It. Was. Perfect.
We moved to the West Coast after living our whole lives here. We came back for the holidays and we knew we wanted to come back to Back Seed. Fantastic breakfast sandwich; full of flavor and savored every bite! Taking some real bagels back to Oregon with us. Share with tourists for a memorable taste of authenticity.
Great bagels, would definitely recommend over the sun like bun they also offer. Lots of options, always a line but it moves quick.
Good Lox
Bagels are good
No hype, just really good authentic and original bagels. Classic fillings and some innovations. Will be back for more (wanted a third, even though I had two in one go!!) Try the beet lox omg!!!
This place is terrible. I wish I knew if the food was good, but after 20 minutes I never got my order. Avoid if you’re in a rush, or just hungry in general.
Quick service, a lot of options, friendly staff and good food!
An absolutely terrible bagel. It was Lenders bagel that was stale. Maybe their flag ship store is better.
The service at this place was nice and welcoming, but the overall texture of the bagel was not what you expect for New Yorks standards. I would not recommend it, if you want to try authentic bagels go to Absolute Bagels, Wu & Nusssbaum, Liberty Bagels, or Mikes Bagels.
Good bagels. Better than “NY” bagels, not as good as MontrealBagels
The AB & J is to die for. I was having a spiritual experience on a toasted Sesame seed bagel.
Slow service, lost our order, gave us the bagel without even toasting it properly (didn’t cut it in half, so inside was cold) and didn’t apologize or act at all friendly. Will not be returning.
These are amazing!!! get the almond butter spread.
Bagels were small and overpriced. Lots of better places to go in NYC.
Delicious bagel. Confusing ordering and pick up areas.
Expensive
No knives or plates or choosing your own bagels
Takes 10+ minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese
LOVE these bagels!!
The bagels are really good
Slow and unfriendly staff
Excellent service
Apparently I had one bagel, but the price was so high that I scratched it, so when I received the right bag, there was one more bagel chip, so I asked what it was, and I asked it.
Wow the tastiest bagels in all of New York. Very clear recommendation!
