The best prices on Asian, specifically Vietnamese, pantry staples in NYC. The staff speaks Chinese and Vietnamese and are very friendly and helpful. As a Vietnamese American from the biggest Vietnamese diaspora (Southern CA), I really appreciate the authenticity, quality, and variety that Tan Tin Hung has to offer. The market is really small, more like a bodega, which means that it doesnt have much in terms of meat, fish and produce though.

Love this Asian Supermarket. They carry many durian goods (durian cake, durian powdered drink mix, frozen durian, etc), pandan related items, coconut related items, instant coffee and tea mixes, Milo, Horlick, cooking sauces, gui lin go, soursop juice, mangosteen juice, pork and mung bean sticky rice, sweet coconut sticky rice, sweet mung bean sticky rice, a fresh fruits stand in front outside, and a plethora of general Asian goods at excellent prices, unlike Whole Foods. They are a treasure trove of Asian goods. I especially like the sweets because theyre only minimally sweet so I dont feel like Im eating diabetes. My favorite is the mung bean filled pandan tapioca balls in coconut milk topped with toasted sesame seeds. I take it home and steam the balls. Amazing!Come to Tan Tin Hung. You will not regret it.

NOT cash only. Also SNAP. Also, selection of fresh produce (in front of shop) varies. not fruit not always true. Remarkable variety of sauces, noodles, frozen and dried seafoods, candies, snacks, grains, beans . . . 20+ years Ive gone there. Good-natured staff (majority most helpful; not all fully English fluent ~80% are). Please note currently closing 5PM

Put bot san day in the store and become the first Asian grocery store in NYC to carry it. I am talking about the kind in container in pebble form. I went to Canal St., the biggest grocery store down there did not have it. I have tried a few health food stores and still no luck. I would not dare order it from Amazon. Texas, Florida, and Georgia carries it in their Asian markets. NYC come on this is a popular product both in U.S.A and Vietnam.

Best supermarket to explore if youre new to Chinatown. Good selection of foreign products, good size instant noodle section, cheap beverages, good candy selection, anything that in a jar you can probably find here. Specialized in having Southern Asian products so if youre looking to make Pho, Thai red/ green curry, or something from that region they got you. No produce or fresh meat other than herbs and bamboo shoots so dont expect any fresh aisle, but youre in Chinatown so go explore the local vegetable/ fruit carts.

I would if I could give ZERO star. 1, the vegetables and some stuffs are NOT FRESH at all; 2, the worst is that the old women working at the Cashiers are extremely rude and have no manner at all. One of them She could understand and speak English but she kept speaking Cantonese and when I said, I couldnt understand, she made an arrogant face to me while not even looking at me saying en-huh, well, it feels as it is they are better than you because you Dont speaking Cantonese. It was 9.40 I need to pay but I tried to give her 10.40 so I can have a dollar bill. But I calculated it wrong and had one cent short. Then she didnt even tell me anything and or saying anything to indicate that I still need one cent more, giving me a bunch of coins as change. When I asked her why youre take my coins, she said NO. I asked what you mean by no. And she tried to ignore me, While not even looking at me. These have no courtesy or any sense of respect. There are a lot of other Chinese groceries with fresh food and MUCH BETTER service if you want to go. Dont get yourself treated by some undereducated disrespectful nasty people.

Its taken a sold year of searching high and low, but Ive come to the conclusion that this is the best store for Vietnamese groceries in Manhattan. This is my stop on Saturday mornings to fill up on all my Vietnamese herbs and spices (thai basil, tia to, rau ram, ngo gai, etc). They also have a chest freezer in the back with a decent selection of vegan food if youre Ahn Chai. They also carry the normal staples such as fish sauce, soy sauce, and many other fermented goodies. Dont knock over the balut eggs when you walk in. Just remember, this store is cash only and can get quite crowded on the weekends.
