Amazing supplies, terrible service!On Saturday, I went with my fiancé (he is extremely polite) to purchase more than 500 usd in materials, there were everything I needed it, but the seller was impatient, hostile, mean and rushing; even with the rest of the staff.Hey! we are artist and we need time to pick up color and quality!

If you are a professional painter this is the shop for you. The staff are excellent at helping get the right materials. The shop is loaded with the very best selection of artist supplies. A little gem near Canal Street.

Best art store I have ever encountered. I have been buying all my art supplies here for 10 years. The people here are extremely nice and helpful. The selection is great. The canvases are well made and they will make anything to order and deliver it to you. Great selection of paints, from regular to very fine quality, at reasonable prices. Zero pretentiousness. Just an awesome place!

Love this store! They have very high quality materials, and are conveniently located just a few blocks from our apt. Tonight I needed to get presentation paper for my son, and I called them at 20 to 7, (they close at 7)and was in and out of their shop with paper in hand by 6:55. Plus the paper was on sale!Very knowledgable and kind staff. Its my favorite place to come to b buy art supplies! Beautiful, clean old world style shop. Can highly recommend.

Nice artstore but somehow clean with a small selection. The staff was very nice and you can get everything you need but as far I can tell essentials are missing. Just very few pencils are available, one brand for pastels and Ive had difficulties finding good watercolor sketchbooks.

To All New Customers:It is unfortunate when a small store like this one does not understand the value of treating their customers nicely, giving them the benefit of the doubt and making exceptions for first time customers, as that’s how small stores are successful- they lost a new customer, who would have shopped there for many years:I just moved to the neighborhood and visited this boutique art supplies store. They were seemingly helpful when I asked for advice on paint and brushes and stayed open for me to purchase them.Unfortunately, a day after making the over $100 purchase, I had to return the items as I realized I couldn’t afford them after certain unexpected charges on my debit card processed.BUYER BEWARE:This merchant DOES NOT REFUND any merchandise. They do not care about loosing customers that would have been loyal to their store.When I attempted to return the new items a day and a half later, I explained my finances were too tight to afford the array of items I purchased. One of the managers at the desk responded by telling me that all purchases are NON REFUNDABLE.**I asked as a courtesy, seeing that I’m a first time customer, whether they could please make an exception because I was not made aware of their no return policy before making the purchase nor have I shopped there before to know that they have such a policy.The manager responded with “that’s our policy” and we can give you “store credit”.***I reiterated that I was a first time customer and wasn’t made aware of their policy before purchasing all the supplies I did. Instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt, the Manager said “how do I know this is your first time here.”-which I found to be very insulting.They believe that no other merchants ever disclose a “no return policy” prior to making the purchase. They’re defense was that the receipt at the bottom states no refunds, however, the customer does not receive the receipt until after the transaction is complete and there is no cashier screen to put the purchaser on notice of such policy. I told them that nearly every store has a disclosure they make you sign on a screen which is part of the receipt prior to swiping your debit/credit card, or at the very least verbally inform you that there are no refunds. However, rather than acknowling the truth of the Statement, the Manager made a false over generalized claim that no other stores or merchants “ever” disclose a no return policy prior to finalizing the transaction. A second manager hesitantly refunded me after all of this.Based on this extremely unpleasant, difficult and disrespectful attitude of one of the managers at this store, I will not be returning.

Dont Go There! I went in and spent $243 and when I was checking out i asked for student discount because I’m an art student they asked me do you have a student card? I said no because I didn’t have it and usually no art store i been to ask so they said where do you go to school i said in Pennsylvania so they said no we cant give you the discount you have to be in NYC so i said yes im taking class in ny so they gave me the discount and said only this time they were rude because here im spending over $200 and yet they don’t wanna give me 10% off plus the canavs i paid $40 for was so beaten and wrinkly never will go back ill order my stuff online or go to artists and craftsmen in Brooklyn better and cheaper

They have pretty big verity of stuff. Didnt get a lot of help from sales people despite of the fact it wasnt busy at all, but their manager was really really nice and helpful! Id come back their only because of him.

Ive found this to be an excellent art store, helpful friendly staff and a good selection of sketchbooks. Also, not a chain store.Located half a block north of where Pearl Paint used to be.
