In this age of computer generated art and graphics the ability and the use of hand generated art forms and crafts is seemingly dying. The availability of art and stationary stores like this one is literally gasping for air. Located on Manhattan’s upper west side, this is a relatively unknown gem for those who still like to create with their hands, or make a purchase of greetings and birthday cards. The staff is knowledgeable on every aspect of their store with quick smiles. I really hope this place is around for a long time. Their is no other store even similar in the area. No matter whether you’re local or from out of town, if you’re old enough to remember the times or young enough to try something different with your art, this is a great place to explore.

Excellent art supply selection, plus puzzles, small gifts for kids, and games. We’ve also had several art pieces framed here- all by the excellent and super friendly owner.

I so wanted to support this place and made a point to come here and buy ink, but it is one of those independent stores which are both entitled and unappreciative of consumer support. All this over a credit card minimum and the shop clerk or owner adamant that he was in the right and the law etc. not worth the effort, zero customer service. First and last time

Small, but has all the painting essentials for an artist. I had gone past million times, but ended up here on Easter Sunday when both Michaels and Art Students League were closed. They have a tight but good selection of oil and acrylic paints, canvases, brushes, and pretty much anything else you could need. A great option when the others are closed, and I will be back even when Michaels is open since this is so much faster and easier and more pleasant than having to go down into the dungeon and then wait on that line.

Its like walking into a candy store of art supplies. Every time I visit I discover something fun to use in my art. Today it was velour poster board, it will be fun to use on greeting cards and mixed media art. Also a canvas pad of acrylic primed sheets. Last time it was pretty feathers, black pastel paper, an art journal and paint pens.

This cute stationary store is well stocked with essential paper supplies and writing utensils. There are lots of notebooks, calendars, pens and pencils of all weights and colors available at slightly above average prices. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made good conversation, giving the place a warm and inviting atmosphere and making the high prices worthwhile.

Its small for browsing, but if you know what youre looking for in terms of stationery/art supplies then this the store for you! The owner is also very nice, and I like that the store isnt a factory one like Michaels or JoAnns.

Fasil the owner and Mark his assistant truly know about serving their customers! Fasil,who does the ordering and has a great eye for getting unique products. Over the years the store has expanded to include from picture framing, art supplies, fun toys, creative stickers and more. I find myself called to the store when I want a dose of reality and something special.There is a time and a place for online buying but for some things there is nothing like in-person purchasing. It not just the products that are real, it’s the relationships, the favors, And as neuroscience research tells us we are hard wired to be social. People need people.
