Overall fun! The tour takes you through information about how sazerac started and evolved over the years. Very interesting. A lot of reading. I prefer to have your guides tell you all about it. The samples are good but very small. I think a better flow of this museum would be to have a taste of sazerac at the beginning to give a guide as to what to look for with tastes and everything. It would be nice to have a bar at the end to sample more as well.

She was great. The tour comes with three small samples of classic cocktails, just enough to get you in the mood to go buy a bottle of something downstairs! The facility is absolutely gorgeous, you can tell a lot of time and money has been spent on it. I truly wish I could remember her name as she told the stories with passion and you can tell she loved her job4. There were samples along the tour that went along with the tour5. Everything was clean and I felt safe. Everyone was required to not only keep their masks on, but gloves were also provided at the entrance and also in the bathrooms (to switch out after a break)6. If anything, the architecture and design is beautiful to see7. Last but not least, they did not charge for the tour!!!So all-in-all if you have a spare moment, this is a great tour to sign-up for!! I work at an attraction, so I look at things a little differently than an average tourist. I really liked what The Sazerac House did to depict the history of their spirits and the process of distilling. Book long ahead of your trip to get the day/time youd like for your tour. I liked that it is a self-guided tour. Sometimes, you just want to find things on your own. But there are plenty of well-educated, very enthusiastic staff there to tell you more about everything. Its a pretty big place to explore. Im not typically one for buying souvenirs but they have great merch and also other wonderful items that are hard to pass up. Also, its generally just really attractive in here. Men and women alike will enjoy the space. There are a few liquor samples but also they had lemonade in lieu of this for the non-drinkers. My wife and I did the Distillery tour while in town and we both had a great timeDistilleries are of interest as my grandfather ran moonshine back in the day and from what I’ve been told he would most likely have had some connections with Capone as he ran in some of the same areas as he and those in the know say he most likely wouldn’t have been a competitor and lived to talk about itWho knows? A cool story nonethelessWhile ALL of the guides were fun, interesting, and knowledgeable with both the Sazerac history as well as local history there was one in particular that stood out, Jim PaluzziWe ended up starting our tour with him and were the only ones at that time so we were able to get more one on one time then later on he was at another area and again we were able to ask more questions in a more non group settingHe gave us a lot of information especially some on how we can make various concoctions at home which we greatly appreciated since we have a outdoor bar/kitchen area at our home and everything he told us was right up our alleyThey have a cool virtual bar area and the bartenders show you how to make certain drinksMy suggestion to this company would be to come out with a virtual app that would do the same thing on your phoneNot only would that keep me as a customer on their site and their Name brands in front of me but I think it would also drive traffic to their productsThe tour was free and you had to book onlineEven if not a huge drinker you will most likely enjoy this

It was a fun and interactive experience. The Sazerac house has changed some things due to covid. For one you have to schedule a tour time online, totally free though. Also, they no longer let you walk around by yourself everything is tour guided. Luckily our guide was super excited about everything and clearly enjoyed doing it. Sazerac House is definitely a new gem of NOLA!! It opened a year ago so it is a new discovery for us since our last visit a couple years ago.The building, interior, merchandise and down to every detail of it is gorgeous and elegant to the highest esteem. (We are architects so we do notice EVERY DETAIL). Such thoughtful designs. My husband and I were like kids walking into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory! The most important of all, it is not merely a store front selling high end spirits and merchandise, it is an incredible museum. What Sazerac House desires is not for people to go buy their spirits and merchandise, but to experience and appreciate their history. Honesty, with numerous of such fine spirits under the belt - such as Buffalo Trades, Weller’s, Eagle Rare, Taylor to name a few, they really don’t have to worry about selling here... With that said, the complimentary tour they offer is absolutely valuable and necessary to attend!I cannot rave enough about the tour! It’s a 45 minutes tour with 3 different tasting. It is educational, enjoyable and delightful. Our tour guide Jim is THE BEST tour guide ever! (It used to be a self guided tour but during COVID they made it into a guided tour for safety) We have been to numerous distillery/winery/brewery tours (including Bacardi in PR) and we enjoyed this tour above all, and we surprisingly learned so much! Jim is very knowledgeable, very well spoken, and so very sincere. It is one thing to nicely and efficiently delivering the information, but it’s a whole different level of experience when the guests feel enticed. It probably credited to Jim’s background of broadcasting for long years and his love for Sazerac House! They also very cleverly, creatively and elegantly incorporates interactive multimedia among the displays. Again, I cannot rave enough about how much we enjoyed the tour!Another very important notion is their safety protocols during this pandemic. We visited towards the end of the unforgettable 2020. I have to say, Sazerac House is by far the place we felt safest going out to! They provides gloves and masks at the door in a nice cart with all kinds of sanitizers, checks temperature with a walk up screen as you go in (super cool by the way), and the spacious interior keeps all guests at adequate distances. For those that might dread Covid precautions, this is not dreadful at all. It is very efficiently and professionally done, amazing. It just shows how much they care about their guests and employees! All the staff are very friendly, joyful, and welcoming. What a carefree and amazing experience! This is our 5th time coming to NOLA (love it like our second home!) and just when we thought we wouldn’t be doing anything new just looking for some wonderful food we miss, here’s our new highlight of the trip and NOLA!

Wonderful, delicious, and educational experience in this one of a kind museum and distillery! I learned so much about the history of coffee, commerce, cocktails, and New Orleans itself as it fit into the backdrop of the overall history of the United States. Upon entering, you get your ID checked, and receive a wrist bracelet if over 21. They will scan this bracelet before you get your free drink samples. Then an elevator takes you up to the top floor. Each floor has interactive displays, historical artifacts, info about the ingredients and manufacture of different spirits associated with New Orleans, and a tasting station with sample cocktails. One the best is a bank of 4 screens with recorded videos of bartenders making drinks if choosing. If only more education was taught this way! Youre only getting a taste, dont expect to get smashed, but the whole experience is delightful and incredibly informative.
