I’ve been wanting to go to this location for at least 6 to 8 months, but due to auto immune issues and COVID, I waited. But as I walked in yesterday, I laughingly told the Customer Service rep that it was my first time, and she took the time (rare!) to explain the layout of the store & asked what I was hoping to find.As I walked around, you’ll see the treasures both architecture, creative and practical or for the DYI self-contractor because of a storm…this is your place!! There’s even a workroom available!!So…great cause, friendly customer service and a whole building for creative growth & inspiration?? What’s not to love??Highly Recommend!!
This place is awesome! I feel like they really see the value in old stuff, like I do. They have buckets of nails/screws bolts that are a lil rusty b do the job for cents per pound! I left that store with a bag of nails and some painting tools for 2/3$ and was able to drop off some old lumber knowing it could be useful for somebody for a project!
Love this place! Everyone there is so nice and helpful.
An essential neighborhood recycle-ry of everything a sculptor; a mixed media artist; a homebuilder; an odd jobber; a restoration specialist; a collector; and a homeowner looking for the perfect fit to keep the infinite array of architectural details that are New Orleans homes in ship-shape condition. You simply cannot beat the prices anywhere else. Staff are committed and charitable workers, dedicated to matching the desires of often quirky customers with an EVER SHIFTING INVENTORY.Best to check back later in the week, as stock depends upon what has nestled into the shelves; pallet racks; and aire-libre (open air) yard spaces upon being dropped off by individuals, contractors, and local business bent upon giving new life to often lightly used or routinely new excess materials and tools.Truly a charity masking as a nonprofit. And the staff are steeped in being helpful.
Great place to find old odds and ends to match the period of the house you are working on. If youve got an old house and a piece is malfunctioning or broken, this is a good place to look.
Was able.to drop off some unused paint. Great place
Absolutely an example of community & its inhabitants volunteering, assisting & recycling in harmony! Thanks for all yall!
Its okay. Prices not always shown, erratically priced dollar wise, short hours. Hit or miss on what you might need. Usually cheaper than the bank, etc, but sometimes youd be surprised...
The crew who work there are what makes it a great experience each time I go! Thanks yall!!
Good place for those hard to find items
11 years of love shadowed by one year of Covid and new management. The Green Project culture is fading. Its sad but Ill still go there.
Empty I can find and dad that I want it try again another time see what happened
Friendly employees and decent prices
Cool stuff !!! You never know what you will find there. We got some beautiful wood trim and an old door. We ended up not using the door but I have a project in mind for it. Tons of old doors, windows and odds and ends.
Disappointed with their inventory and selection - seems to get thinner and more picked over every year. They have a great remixed paint department tho - get u some mystery meat latex
Awesome place for a homeowner or handyman
Interesting New Orleans architectural salvage at reasonable prices
I always find that special item to add to my projects to make them stand out and its always affordable. Cant wait for them to reopen.
I love the mean green
Great finds at great prices for a second hand store. If you need materials for a project or to simply remodel something this is the place. And if you take time to look around might even find new items. The only thing I kind of dislike is the way the workers eyeball you. Ive been to the store lots of time and they always look at me like Im ready to steal to something 😂
Reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose that really cool bathtub into a planter. You want doors? They got a handle on that for ya! This place has everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink and no ones made that joke about this place before I just made it up myself. A haven for makers and do it yourselfers, and especially theatre folk building sets. Helpful staff and prices so low youll leave with a wallet as full as your truck! (See, your truck will be full of windows, tiles, paint and a toilet. Oh and that wrought iron thing. Better grab some hinges too. Is that a non-mortising doorknob?! Cool)
Love love love this place !!! 💜💗💖💜💗💖💜💗💖
I have purchased some really cool items and at low prices. The staff is always very helpful and so nice. It is a unique place to shop in New Orleans. :) You should check it out . . .
Great place for original pieces for repairing vintage houses.. lots of other stuff.. really a must see
Recycled materials. Very eco-friendly with good pricing and an excellent place to donate used items relating to construction.
Staff is extremely friendly. The place itself is a bit hectic - lots of stuff everywhere. But, if you are willing to dig through some things you can definitely find cool things for pretty cheap. Glad that there is a place like this in the city that is reclaiming a lot of what was lost during Hurricane Katrina. Huge selection of doors and windows, paint, etc.
Super well organized and informative!
Great place for DIY people..
Lots of selection. Some of it seemed a bit over priced, but a lot of it seemed like really good deals.
Great for trying to find a match for something older. Very cheap prices. Good people.
My favorite spot for reclaimed building materials! The Green Project not only has awesome staff (and you never know what you’re going to find in regards to really interesting materials for Upcycling) but they hold classes that are an amazing addition to the community. Love you, Green Project!
Great place 👌 👍
The Best Paint and the best Customer Service! I Really appreciate the Consistency of the Paint!!! They Also have Loads of Ceramic Tile for the low! I just purchase more cans of paint different Colors and All of them are still fantastic 😎😎🤩❤️🤔❤️
Tons of stuff! They also take used/leftover paint.
My first stop in the city for any creative project I start. also, my first stop in the city when I need a project.
I read the two negative reviews: bad paint and someone buying their already purchased stuff.Bad paint -- I bought some paint for $10/gallon the other day. It was a great color and would have paid $35-50/gallon from most other places. Obviously, there is a limited selection so youll have to keep checking for the right color. Its a mix of outdoor/indoor paint. As for the smell/drying? No problems on my end. The realtor actually loved the color -- makes it easier to list the house. As for someone buying something already purchased? That stinks. Normally, it should have been marked as sold UNLESS someone i.e. buyer ripped off the sign and basically fooled the staff. Green Project is a no-refund store. However the exception in this case could have been made -- with a managers approval.Overall, the store is pretty solid. Its RECYCLED stuff. If you understand that much, then youll like saving the earth.
This place is a treasure trove of anything & everything you need, want or can ever dream of. In fact, you will see things you didnt even know existed. You can buy common things for your house or yard. Or you can find unique pieces & create something totally new. This place is unlimited. Its so huge till you could browse for days. If you want or need anything, go to the Green Project first. Youll leave with things you thought you could never find.
Great selection, very helpful staff. The prices are the best in town but even if they werent, it would still be worth it knowing how they do for the community.
Looking to upcycle? Look no further plus if your looking for a place to earn community service hours or flat out volunteer this place is a great and knowledgeable foothold to start. Thank you Green Project for keeping New Orleans well, New Orleans!!!!!
I love this place. I didnt know it existed until now. Its very cool that they help people out.
Dont buy paint from here!!I realize that the paint here is recycled. I shouldnt have used it to paint the ceiling of my nursery. 3 weeks later, the room still wreaks of paint. The ceiling is dry. The room has a back door that leads directly outside. I turned on the ceiling fan and just left the door wide open with the fan on for days. This did nothing. I purchased an ozone machine and allowed it to run for a day. Still, the horrific paint smell remains. I figured since Im expecting maybe its just my super hero senses. But none of my family can bare to be in the room without our heads swimming.Eventually, Ill get the room repainted. But Id like to wait as I dont want to inhale more harsh chemicals during pregnancy. Thanks Green Project for ruining my nursery. To those seeking paint the name of the batch that I used was called white #5.🙁
Lots of fun things to find. Must see if you are renovating historic homes. incredible inventory!
Lots of good old stuff. Better and more stuff than Habitat for Humanity. Was hoping to find 2 matching old doors. No luck. Maybe next time.
Its a place that has used building materials in some really eclectic lamps and lanterns and chandeliers some really cool old doors
Good place for used lumber, doors and windows. Old parts for remodeling and restoration projects.
LGBT-operated (and owned, I believe), this environmentally- and pocketbook-friendly place has many great deals for someone moving into a new place or for contractors, carpenters, electricians, painters, or workers of any kind! Its a huge warehouse with a second building attached and an outdoor area filled with all the supplies anyone would need for building or restoring a house/home. Original and antique items such as doors, windows, fans, accessories, fixtures, etc etc etc. Other things that are great in the place include: large original paintings (priced $40), nails, screws, door stops, all types and colors of paint, concrete, blinds, signs, toilets and sinks, bed head and foot boards, door and cabinet handles, etc. God, just everything. I make sure to patronize this business when ever I have a chance, and Ill go across town to do it.
I like going here. You never know what youll find at a great price!
Nice merchandise
I love these guys and what a wonderful concept. I support them 100% Im restoring my house and they have been a great place for the parts Im missing

Gotta like the concept and mission of this handy spot.
Used to get great deals but nothing recently
I bought two cealing fans for my porch for about 35.00
Excellent salvage store staffed by very nice people. Leave a tip at the front desk, they deserve it!
This is where you might find those things you will never find anywhere else. And its very affordable.
I always find something I was not expecting to find. Prices are very reasonable and its just a fun place go.( If your into that kind of stuff)
Great source of demolition materials, the good stuff goes quickly so you need to visit regularly.
I love this place. Any help to reduce waste and promote upcycle/recycle is a ok in my book!!
Nice selection of used items from New Orleans homes. Takes a bit of time to find what youre looking for since there are so many different types of things in the building.
Always a good and friendly place. Its a good place to go to find bargains.
Gently used building materials. They may have come back in style.
Great place to find refurbished goods for the house hold renovations.
Found several items at great prices to help complete my varied projects. ......will definitely visit again.
This is a second hand store, that has everything, you can use, indoors and outdoors..

Finding various items at a cheap price
Awesome place for the hard to find !
Great place to find anything. Staff are wonderful
Not too sure about the place. Way over priced for what they had donated. You WILL get nails in your tires. It has happened every time I have gone there so will you.I guess there is a reason it has been 3 years since I’ve been there.
Great place to purchase or donate anything. Keep cash in your wallet & keep stuff out of the landfills.
Absolutely love this place. Very reasonable especially for those who love to do DO IT YOUR SELF projects.
I could walk around this shop for hours dreaming up projects to start at home.

Large inventory of doors. Great service they are providing to the community
Not what I expected
Staff is always friendly and helpful... esp. Mr Tony!
Amazing community workshops, and project supplies!
Lots of old reclaimed building materials. Habitat for humanity seems to have better prices but for certain things this is a good place to check, especially for doors, sinks, etc
Wow. Rude and unhelpful cashier. She didn’t offer the membership (that would’ve saved me money and when I asked her about it refused to redo the receipt even though I hadn’t left the store yet.
Wounderful if you are a Fixer Upper
Cant say enough good things about these guys.
Cool finds, great staff, and a recyclers heaven.
This place sells used merchandise at very low prices. Mostly housewares.
