Amazing delicious sugary fried dough that pairs perfectly with chicory coffee!Pro tip come here in the first hour they open close to 7:30 and there is no line. If you come at 10 and after prepare to wait for 30-60 min.Lots of cash only signs come with some dollars! You can dine in the open air cafe there are lots of chairs and tables or you can take your order to go and overlook the Mississippi River.

Spent many many years thinking about the first time id get to visit Cafe Du Monde, and luckily I got to experience that before Covid struck. Now they are only open as a fraction of what they once were, but my first experience was a 11pm or so stop with wonderfully sweet pillows of fried dough and some excellent coffee. I am so happy I got to get the Bucket List appeal of making this stop and im glad I did.In having said that, there are many other places in the area that have excellent beignets and coffee as well, maybe even as good or better. This is definitely the legendary spot though. For around $1 per beignet (3 come to an order) and a few bucks for coffee...its a nice and cheap way to experience a major part of New Orleans lore.

Cafe Du Monde French MarketThis is a fun place in New Orleans. We walked in off the street. There was a short line up and it moved quite fast. It was nice to get out of the rain that had just started up again. This is an amazing place full of hustle and bustle. It is unique dining experience. Its a bit like a diner mixed with cafeteria. Lots of friendly staff. The beignets are a fun experience to eat, be forewarned the icing sugar goes everywhere. Its a fun place with loads of character. I would recommend it to anyone touring the French Quarter.

Get their early or you will have to wait in a line they have 3 lines going at once. The menu is limited and be aware they don’t have any non dairy options for coffee. The beignets were delicious, but would be better if on a plate and and not in a bag. There were plenty of open tables when we arrived and only have a short wait. We got here shortly after 8am when the web said they opened and they were probably open at 7 or so. So defiantly come early. Classic spot in the French quarter.

Live music on the street, directly across from Jackson Square. The beignets were hot and fresh and covered in powdered sugar. Make sure to give your bag a good shake before you eat them. Beneigts and Cafe au Lait live up to their reputation. Only downer is that the area is a wreck. Tons of junkies, homeless, and just people asking for money. Coffee and Beignets. That’s it. Our experience was mostly pretty poor - waiting in the rain for about an hour to get to the service window and the setting itself was poor and slow, not to mention the mess with finding a table and just navigating your way around. HOWEVER, you come here for the beignets and they are TOP CLASS! Worth the wait and the poor atmosphere.

Great breakfast spot if you enjoy what’s on the menu! Don’t expect fancy coffee or food other then beignets. Their menu does not have much else. I loved their ice coffee. It’s half coffee, half milk. The coffee snobs in my group felt otherwise however and went to the local chain coffee shop afterwards. 3 beignets and a large coffee was very filling. A trip to New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without a beignet from Cafe Du Monde! Cafe Du Monde is known as the best place to get these in New Orleans. This palace is very famous for Beignets (pronounced Ben-yay, it took me a while too...) and coffee; which are local delicacy that you pretty much have to try when you visit New Orleans (Im fairly certain they dont let you leave until you do, theyre the rules). Theyre basically deep fried dough, sprinkled with a liberal portion of powdered sugar. The line will likely be long, no matter what time you want it. It is always a big line but service is quick, so wait it out – it’s worth it! You got to see local band sing or play instruments in front of the Cafe.

Super tourist trap. Everyone told us about how we “have to go” to this place. The lines are huge and usually wrap around the corner. You basically only have one menu on the option. It looks and tastes factory mass produced and not fresh. These “doughnuts” are basically zeppoles - deep fried dough with powdered sugar. Also the place looked awful, full of boxes everywhere.
