Heard so many good things. Was excited to try but quickly disappointed. Nothing special or spectacular. Just blah
Quieter and less crowded than the original CDM. Lines a bit long for this quiet mall, tastes great! When original CDM is crowded the beignet quality drops: at that point, better to come here for proper articles
Its Cafe Du Monde. If you spend anytime in the quarter you owe it to yourself to get a bag of beignets. Highly suggest taking some out to the pier with a cup of Cafe au lait! Just be prepared to clean up powdered sugar from everything for the next few days!
This was my first time trying Beignets and they were OK. It seemed like a poor representation of what they look like they are, but it wasnt bad. Its just a plain pastry with a bunch of powdered sugar. The taste resembled a funnel cake you get from the fair.Their coffee on the other hand was very nice! Super smooth, good flavor. The lines were long. But what do you expect, its a tourist attraction.
I had a wonderful moments here with my friends. I loved the taste of beignets. Before I went to this cafe I didn’t know that they have other locations just in Louisiana. I enjoyed the french style. If you want to have breakfast with your friends here be aware that you need to wait in a long line of people. One of The things I didn’t like was, that they didn’t accept cards so you need to carry cash with you. So in these pandemic days it’s not healthy, and the other thing was about the restroom. There is no restroom in this cafe.
The beignets are metaphorically to die for. I enjoyed the scenic river walk behind it after.
This was my first time in New Orleans and my Uncle, who went to LSU and Tulane University said I have to try Beignets. Everyone kept telling me they tasted like donuts. When I tried the Beignets at first, I said this does not taste like a donut. It is NOT Sweet. Someone else said not a donut, Beignets taste like funnel cakes. I started thinking about a funnel cake with powered sugar and this is EXACTLY what a Beignets taste like. Once I changed my mind comparing it to a funnel cake, I enjoyed it even better. After we finished at Café Du Monde we walked on the Riverwalk!
We got in the line before it opened. (10am) Greeted warmly by the staff., they asked us if it was our first time. Made us feel welcome and it was like a warm hug in the morning. This place is well known for their powdered crack treats and incredible French roast coffee.Of course we ordered the Cafe Au Lait and bengiets. This is the standard for most people visiting the cafe.Powdered sugar greatness! A must not miss when in New Orleans! You might get the shakes for more when you leave (my attempt to “crack” a joke). 🙃Yes, I gave Paris some covfefe. She didn’t really drink it. Maybe a sip or two. They put sugar on the tables so it is easy to customize your wakey wakey drink. I would recommend ordering each person a bag of powder coated awesomeness. Each bag comes with 3, but you aren’t going to want to share. This stand takes credit cards, unlike the one in the French market. So if carrying cash is not your thing, they take plastic. It was an inexpensive treat. Total for two bags and three coffees ran us less than $15.
This is a staple of coming the boot state. The warm crispy powdered pastry that I promise. Only the boot state can give you its a taste bud treat for any and all ages
I don’t get the hype for this place to be honest. Beignets (which is simply fried dough with powdered sugar) and coffee were both average at best. Took a bite and a couple of sips of both and left the rest, didn’t make me “want more”
We stopped in for a quick coffee and treat while in the Riverwalk. Those were good as usual, but no one cleans up the dining area. The tables and floors were filthy from all of the powdered sugar and trays left behind.
Came back in April 2021 for the first time since Covid began and we were sad and dissapointed to find that the quality has gone downhill. Im assuming due to the pandemic. We have been coming to NOLA for years and always drive down from Chicago to visit Cafe Du Monde and other favorite places in one of our favorite cities. This time all of the beignets were stale as if theyve been pre-made ahead of time and simply kept warm. We came and ordered them few times on different days, and all of those times they were stale and simply heated up. Not made fresh to order like they used to be in the past. I know the difference because weve always stopped by on our way out of town to get some for the road back home and I know how they taste hours later when they are no longer fresh. There have been times when we got all the way to Chicago and still had 1 or 2 beignets left and I tried heating them up and they just arent the same when stale. Coffee also changed. And the whole carry out experience just lacked the magic this place used to have. I imagine that first time visitors are very dissapointed since they dont know what they are missing and dont get the hype of what beignets used to be :( not sure if they will see get be made fresh ga ok n but Im keeping my hope alive for our next visit.
Disappointed. I heard so much about this place. Stood in line for 45 minutes and did not get what I expected. A bag of powered sugar and fried hard dough. A funnel cake would have been more satisfying.
Quick stop to recuperate those lost calories...lol.
Not really my cup of tea. It tasted like a wannabe funnel cake. But a actual funnel cake tasted way better than these.
Waiting an hour for beignets that were extremely disappointing. Under cooked dense and no flavor. Very sad. Heard it was the best. No the actual best is Rosies rooftop bar at the Higgins hotel! Go there instead. Save your time!
Cafe Dumonde has the best beignets that we had in NOLA by far! MUCH better than Cafe Beignet. Note: Beignets is what they do. There only coffee options are black, or a very sweet frozen latte. Just be aware of that before you go.
Pretty good. I had to let them cool off and that changed the taste for me.
Waited over an hour and the beignets I received were extremely dense and 3x more powdered sugar than pastry. Don’t bother ordering a hot chocolate, it is just boiling water with a drink mix in it. There are definitely better places to get this kind of food.
Looked forward to this all week, beignets were delicious, but staff was rude. Honestly the worst service. The staff member sweeping was nasty to my wife after asking where to put a tray.
Prices were reasonable. It was an enjoyable experience, we came for the beignets and they did not disappoint.
Service was inefficient. Cafe au lait was missing something, was not good. the beignets was delicious as always.
The Beignet wasnt the issue the wait wasnt long at all when we went but the he/she it/they that took our order with the fake lashes has such an unattractive attitude and the face omg. It was the face for me the lips were all poked out and just crazy, Ive never experienced anything like it. Southern hospitality was not bred in that one.
Donuts and coffe are amazing. What a nice little snack. :)
If you want to avoid the long lines, crowds, heat and humidity that will surely be experienced at the main Cafe, and you are in the financial district of NOLA, then come here instead. The beignets and coffee are exactly the same delicious treat you would have gotten at the other place. By all means, go to the main one and take pictures, selfies. Then come here instead and chill.there will be lines at the usual peak times but if you go before or after then all will be well.
The second shop of the traditional cafe chain serving good coffee and snacks. It is located within the shopping mall and therefore air conditioned. It does not have queues, either. If you would love to try Cafe du Monde but do not have the energy and time to queue up at the original outlet, try this one.
You cannot compete with a traditional food or the experience of Chicory coffee and Beigna.
Though its not the one is the French Quarter its still very nice and super yummy! Its also very good for those who would rather not sit outside.
Its a staple, and the dough is always fresh.
Beignets were really good and fresh, the coffee wasnt as good as the one you get at the main Cafe Du Monde.
Food was Great but the service was horrible. One of the employees slammed a tray down in front of us for our order.
This was a bucket list destination while I toured New Orleans! I wasnt expecting such a thick yet fluffy pastry donut squares thingamajig covered in powder sugar (beignets)! It paired very well with the Chicory coffee. This place was pretty packed & was surprised by the amount of beignets everybody was scarfing down in this place LOL. Prices are cheap and decent. While youre in line you can watch people cutting and prepping the beignets ready to be deep fried just like a donut. Although it is packed the lines move pretty quick and if they is space out on the balcony you can actually go outside and eat your Beignets and drink coffee while overlooking the port of New Orleans. Also theres a lot of powdered sugar everywhere LOL. Best part about this location is that you can actually take your Beignets to go and walk around and windows shop in the mall.
We loved the beignets and coffee. I finally got the chance to share this experience with family. If you go to New Orleans - you have to do this one time. A bag of three is plenty per person.
Look - we all know its a staple. But it is so because it is good. Love the cold brew. Love the breads. Great food. Always take my out of towners here for a treat.
The beignets were divine and the staff was super friendly. The line is hella long, so be prepared to wait a minute. Its worth is though 🤩
Good coffee and chicory. Love the Beignets.
What can I say that others dont know? Its a staple. If you dont go to cafe Dumonde and get beignets, thats like going to New York City and not getting a slice or a bagel. Have them any time and multiple times.Being from north jersey we have plenty of Italian American events and we have on shore boardwalks. At those you get zeppolis or funnel cake, both taste similar to one another and have been compared to beignets. Beignets are better. Youll get them fresh out of the fryer every time and sprinkled, no, doused in powdered sugar. My last visit to Nola I went 3 times. It was glorious.
So worth the wait. The line moves quickly and these is a shorter cash only line. Delicious pastry dessert!
This place is amazing! After a rushed time getting to the airport, flying to New Orleans, and a rough night sleeping, this was just what I needed in the morning! The beignets are to DIE FOR, and the hot chocolate was perfect with the beignets, and the server was so nice! I definitely recommend!
The Beignets are so good! If you know, you know. Always hot and fresh.
Quality at Cafe Du Monde no matter which one to me, seems the same.Great wit a side of great.
This review is for the main location. Love this little coffee spot. A great place for a piece of history. The coffee is always great. The beignets are hot and tasty. The service is always great. Nothing like spending some time here and enjoying yourself in Jackson square, listening to some live jazz music all while enjoying your cafe au lait and beignet. Doesnt get any better in my opinion. The lines can get long but they are usually pretty fast. If you enjoyed this review please hit the like button. Thank you.
Went to take out window, then at at Jackson Square, very nice and didnt have to wait in line.
The beignets were awful!! They were not hot, they had an aftertaste, & they were very doughy/ chewey. Also, quite a few of the tables were dirty in the sitting area. I will not patronize this location again.
Kids loved the pastries I forgot what the make they called it but they enjoyed
It was late but inside was nice outside construction made it hard to get around
Love them, one more place that I can mark off my bucket list
I stopped in on a Monday before closing and was the only one here. I ordered a small cafe au lait ( really small ) served in a paper cup and an order of beignets served in a paper bag. Service was fast and friendly and as expected they were both delicious. During my previous visits to the French quarter location, both items were served in a real cup and plate- definitely adds to the experience and probably worth going there if they still service that way.
Only a four star because Cafe du Monde is amazing. This specific location is a three in comparison to the other locations, but the food and coffee is still great. The customer service and location definitely detracts from the traditional aesthetic of why most people want Cafe du Monde, however. The husband had to actually flag someone down to take payment even after the food and coffee were prepped and waiting to be picked up. Its in a mall and staffed by the kind of people youd expect in a mall: ie, they dont really care about you and some of them were probably high school students. Dont let this be your only CdM experience or itll be a huge letdown.
Came to Cafe Du Monde as its a NOLA staple. Coming from Detroit, I had high expectations from the beignets at the eastern market food truck but was frankly pretty disappointed. Even while fresh, they were very heavy and had a doughy inside, unlike the light pillowy texture I was looking for. Had high expectations and was under delivered imo.
Food is ok but dont let it get cold
Soo awesome best baguette I have ever had so recommended
Walked up to counter and order taker just stared. Finally said yall ready sarcastically. He was very inattentive, seemingly bored. Not cordial or professional. Begneits were a little hard but coffee was excellent. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Wont go back.
It was.. ok. There were just waaaaay too many people. We stood in line for about an hour and thats only because this was not the main location. If you have a lot of free time and dont mind waiting what could easily be over an hour, then go.
Nothing to see here! Average coffee, beignets were OK, not so great attention wise. Location was a little bit messy. Avoid it if it is possible.
Overpriced and just okay in my honest opinion. Way too much powdered sugar on the beignets
Love this mall! So much to choose from.
Excellent Beignets, awesome customer service.
